Although I didn't like this book quite as much as 'Empires and Kings', I did enjoy it quite a bit. This was one of those books that kind of took me by surprise. I was expecting this book to be the continuation of the stories of the characters introduced in the first book, but it wasn't. So if you're expecting a book centered on Vlad Zalesky, like I was, you'll need to reshape your expectations.

While the characters and the storyline is definitely all tied in together, this book does not center on the same characters. This time around, Liam Dawson and Wren are the focus. If you've read the first book in the series, you'll probably remember that Liam Dawson was a product of a taboo marriage between Italian and Irish mob royalty.

Liam has spent his life trying to stay out of the criminal life that he was born into. Despite being raised by his uncle, Ciro, he has pursued a career in medicine. As the head of the Palleshi family, Ciro is persistent in his attempts to pull Liam into what he believe is his rightful role as his heir. The more Liam resists his influence, the more desperate Ciro becomes.

Wren has led a rough life. After the death of her parents, she was left alone to fend for herself. She works as a waitress to make ends meet, but she's barely surviving. Her lingering friendship with her ex-boyfriend only serves to further complicate her life.

When Liam finally gets Wren to agree to date him, he recognizes that she is special. Almost immediately, he begins imagining a life with Wren. He knows that she is the woman for him, even as he tries his hardest not to scare her off.

Unfortunately, Wren does not escape Ciro's notice. In her, Ciro has found the perfect tool to manipulate his nephew and to force him to do his bidding. This is where the story takes it's first big turn.

I don't want to give too much away, but this story did manage to keep me on the edge of my seat. It wasn't so much that I didn't know where it was headed, because that was pretty predictable. It was more like the suspense and anxiety was a result of not knowing how far things would go before arriving at that end. Ciro was dangerous and completely nuts! I never knew what he was going to do next.

If you enjoyed the first book in the series, then I'd recommend this one. It was great. It just wasn't what I expected at the onset. Overall, it was still a pretty good mafia-themed romance with a "dark-ish" feel.

Another good one by A.C. I will admit that I did like the first one just a bit more than this one but it still was a great read. All of the characters we enjoyed in the first(excluding the ones we saw leave in the first installment) were included in this one. We also meet some new characters and they have a story to tell. Can't wait till she releases the next one!

4 "bloody end" stars

As much as i loved Empires and kings, the first book in Mafia series, the sequel was slightly different in impact, tone and pace and plot then I initially anticipated.

The story continues eight years after the tragedy that hit The Zalesky family but the 'truce' was held anyway...even though the rivalry and hate never disimated...

and the Italian side is still plotting the great demise of their Russian enemy...

now, the lives of those who were 'spared' of the cruelty of the Mafia ways, are manipulated in the most devious way, just so that the legacy of hatred for the eternal enemy could be continued...

Liam Dawson, the link to hold the Irish side and the Italian one, never wanted to be the part of it all...but being a nephew of the cruelest monster Ciro, the Italian mobster only intensifies the odds of the peril that looms above him...and Ciro will orchestrate the play so Liam would step in, and finally take the rightful place of the leader...

And Ciro's plans involve endangering the life of the woman that Liam came to care about, so the situation would ensure Liam's decision to accept his fate...the fate his uncle had developed in his sick devious evil mind.

Liam would have to change his primarily asset, every beating impulse that made him the person he is, will have to turn into the very opposite, so he could save the woman he loves....and get rid of the nemesis itself-Ciro.

And she is Wren, not only the woman Liam loves, not only the woman that is held as a leverage to make him act, but a woman whose past and birth origin will come as a shock to everyone around...and will be the missing link awaiting...

So many characters enter and pass through out this story that sometimes I had to keep more detailed track of who is about to do what and why...and somehow I never made connection to the main characters of this story.

I was only brought to life, nearing the end of it, when once again Vlad Zaletsky appeared and totally took over the scene for me!

And I was looking forward to the great ordeal from the very beginning when he made this promise to Ciro...
There will come a day when you and I will settle all that’s passed between us.”
“But we’ve agreed,” he returns with innocence, inside relishing what’s to come.
Without entertaining his reply, Vlad warns, “Not today. Maybe not tomorrow. But rest assured, we’ll meet again. Not family to family but man to man. And no talk of peace nor any lies of remorse will save you. Until that day comes, continue looking over your shoulder as you’ve always done. Because I give you my word that there will come a day you’ll wish you had.

All in all, it was a solid story with highlights and pin point moves from the characters that shone from the background this time. And that alone could have deserved even more than 4 stars but I do have to maintain the first, steady, honest impression I gained after reading.

The book, however, ends with a glimpse into the potential future sequel...with the secondary cast of the MC members that appear here as the main subjects...

but that fact does not diminish the sense of completion for this story and current events.

There were things that I liked about this book but unfortunately there were more that I didn't. I loved Jed and am very happy that the hero did not have sex with OW after meeting the heroine. In fact unless I missed it there was no mention of OW The story got 1 star based on that fact alone. Also I am glad that at least the heroine had another boyfriend before meeting the hero. In the first book the heroine was only with the hero. In fact I believe that she never even kissed anyone else whereas the hero in the first book was a manwhore. She even saw him having sex with a prostitute. However I digress.

Moving on. While I liked both the hero and heroine I wish the hero was more alpha and possessive. He waits patiently for 1 year for the heroine to finally agree to go out with him. Besides asking her out a few times he never did anything else in terms of pursuing her. The readers were given the impression that if he put forth more effort that she would have readily gone out with him much sooner than after 1 year. So not passionate to passively wait that long. It did not surprise me therefore that they had very little chemistry given how he was content to wait on the sidelines. Also the hero always seemed to be tired and stressed out. While I understood because he was a busy doctor and worried about the heroine it still took away from the romance as did all the other points of view.

Besides the heroine and hero's point of view there were at least 5 other P.O.V from secondary characters. It was too much. I read the first book when it came out but could only remember one of the secondary characters who had POV in this book and that was the hero of the first book.
I did not care about what all of these other people thought. I wanted more time with the hero and heroine including romance. Also the sexy scenes were limited both in number and in content.

I will not be reading the next book if it is about a certain guy from the MC and a girl he knew since she was a child which appears to be the case given how the book ends on this secondary character's POV. From what I could tell that woman pined over him, gave him her v-card, he choose to leave her, she ended up with another guy in the MC while he screwed OW in an attempt to forget her while still seeing her. No thanks because that is so not romantic to me nor anything that I want to read about.

At first I got a little disappointed, I was expecting this book to be the continuation of the stories of Vlad and Klara but it wasn't. Although the story had tip of their life but it wasn't enough for me.
Nevertheless when the story went more further and it got more twisted I couldn't put it down. It was a good story and I liked it, after all it was a mafia story and I love the mafia theme :D

Ok it was 2:15 am when I finished so I didn't write anything.

I don't think it was as good as the first, but it did have some twists and turns. I figured out that huge twist so it was sorta anticlimactic to me. I just wanted more Vlad and Klara. You got to hear from them, but it was a small part.

Liam and Wren were good but they just didn't have that WOW factor. I wanted a book about Veni, but it looks like the next is going to be about the MC in the story.

Good fast paced action read. I will read the next.

Pretty dang good.

This is continuation of the mafia story from book one, and told more heavily from a different POV of the story that was going on. In this book the War that was going on between the families has died down and they are at an awkward peace.

That is until two people who don't really know how connected they are come together. It puts ideas of power into on mafia leaders head, and he starts up with some sneaky planning to cause some drama in the mafia world.

I don't really want to ruin anything so I won't detail who is who, but what I will say that this story is more about the connections and resolving the side plots from book one, but from a different POV. Yes, there is a love story, but it isn't all about that.

My only complaint is there may have been too many POV's in this one. It made it hard to connect to anyone, because it was jumping around pretty often. If you can enjoy a story without feeling a super deep connection with the characters then you will still enjoy this one. It's exciting and full of twists you don't see coming!

Can't wait to see what comes next!

I honestly just did not care for most of the characters. I liked Liam and Wren, but their relationship fell flat for me.

I didn’t mind the several different POVs, but I wish we’d had more Liam.

I had a hard time with this book from the beginning. There was so many points of view and so many characters it was hard to keep track of who was related to who, who was married to who and who had killed who. You definitely need a diagram to keep it all straight. The story was about Wren and Liam and how he was going to save her. I didn't feel like you got to know them very well with all of the other stuff going on in the book. I really liked A.C. Bextor's other books that I had read but this one just wasn't for me.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the arc of Saints and Savages.

Still great writing......but...

I'm giving this 5 stars because I love this authors writing style and world building. But this might come off as a critical review, and yet it's not. I absolutely loved the first book, it's on my tbr again shelf. There's some slight spoilers in this review I think so beware...

First, we meet Liam. It's 8 years after the first book. All 3 families are still around although I'm disappointed that Killians Irish family isn't really getting the love I want. There is just not enough good Irish mob stories and alas, I didn't get one here. Liam is the grandson of The Italians & Irish. Although he has no connection with his Irish side, which I really don't get other than the fact that old killian seems to have given him up to Ciro on the trust that he not be involved in mob life. He becomes a Dr. Good guy, average citizen pretty much...but Ciro wants him to take over.

Wrens a waitress, liam asks her out, friends to lovers, their love affair begins. Wren has a past even she doesn't know about and if I share it, it ruins a big part of the suspense of this story, but just know she's a pawn and this couple doesn't know, the only thing Liam thinks he's helping her with is getting rid of her jacked up ex. That guy is another story, in fact why Wren even cares continued to piss me off all thru the story. I felt like both these characters were too naive for their circumstances they found themselves in. So, again frustration. I mean mike....that shouldn't have happened. Liam was so naive there, I was like, don't you know you're crazy uncle at all? Sigh.

We meet some new characters from a biker group, looks like we're headed that way in the series. In the end another great book with lots of characters. I thought it was a little low on romance but that's just me. Also, Vlad and Kara were back so if you loved their book as much as me it was great to see. Though, they should have a ton of kids by now, theyre orthodox, I don't get it. I only hope she rebuilds the Irish and Italian side. I really liked having the 3 elements.

Good suspense and mystery element especially, Great writing, great supporting characters. Recommend.

There are a select number of authors that I read Mafia from and A.C. is one of them. Once again she delivers a great story! I loved the first book in this series and was hoping to keep that love alive with this book. So happy with the way it develops and the revelations along with the set up for the next book in the series. Liam and Wren are a great couple. At first Wren appears to be a soft loving soul who will provide Liam with the peace he so obviously needs. The surprise is that she turns out to be made of sterner stuff than that! She still provides that softness he needs but its tempered with steel. Liam is the product of his upbringing in a good way. His Italian and Irish blood come through loud and clear showing the best of both coming together. If you love Mafia romances you will love this book.

A little disappointed

I hoping this book would fallow the same couple, but a younger generation from the group. It stills has the same set of characters, and they want revenge on what happened in the last book. The story was still intriguing. Happy I picked it up.

This book takes place about eight years after book one, Empires and Kings. You don't need to read book one to read this one but I would recommend that you do just because it gives you the background information on all the characters and you know what is going on without having to guess at anything. This book is about Liam and Wren. Liam is the nephew of the feared and psycho mafia boss, Ciro. Liam has never been involved in the mafia business but that is only because Ciro promised his sister before she died that he would not pull Liam into that life. Liam has never wanted to be mixed up with his uncle and has made his own life as a great doctor taking care of the less privileged and he loves his job. Wren is a beautiful young woman working as a waitress and Liam has been trying to get her to go out with him for a while now and she always politely declines his requests. One day at work Wren gets a visit from her ex-boyfriend, Chase. Chase is an addict, a gambler and a cheat. Wren dumped him almost a year ago but she feels bad for him and can't quite kick him out of her life so he continues to show up. This time he needs money and is not wanting to listen when Wren tells him she has no money to give him. Liam happens to be at the restaurant when Chase shows up so he takes Chase out front and deals with him. Afterwards he finally gets Wren to agree to a date with him. With everything finally going in a direction that Liam is happy about his uncle decides that he no longer cares what he promised his sister he wants Liam by his side to rebuild his families standing in the mafia world. He knows Liam won't come to him of his own accord no matter what he offers him. Ciro plots to use Wren against Liam in his horrible plot to get Liam by his side even if it means killing her in the process. Wren is in danger from the things her ex-boyfriend is involved in and she's in danger from the plot that Ciro is devising. With everything coming to a head, Wren is still in the dark about so many things including where she truly comes from. This story is a thrill ride of epic proportions and had me turning the page to the very end. It does have a complete story, which is an awesome story as well. I definitely recommend this book to all dark Mafia romance lovers out there. I am looking forward to more from this author in regards to some of the secondary characters in this book. Grab this book today, you won't regret it.

“He understands that I came from a good, happy childhood home that I still miss. I know he came from a family of servants and guards.” … “Even with all we’ve shared about our lives, there’s more between us than jovial and friendly banter. And we both know it.”

Liam is the link between both the Dawson and Palleshi families. He shares blood from both sides but refuses to have anything to do with either family and their business dealings. He is a doctor and has a good, legal life.

Wren Adler had the perfect childhood till it all was ripped away from her. She made the most of life and did what she could to stay afloat. When an ex that refuses to leave her alone drags her into trouble, Liam steps in to help.

Wren has no idea just how close she truly is to Liam Dawson and the life that he refuses to be a part of but when that choice is ripped from his hands, he has no choice but to joins the wolves to save Wren. Knowing these families from the previous book, you know the hatred and cruelty that is imbedded in them. It is hard to believe that someone like Liam can be a product of that structure. Liam never was involved in the family businesses though. He avoided it just like his parents wanted him too. Wren knows the family that Liam is apart of but is blind to the true evil that is Ciro Palleshi. She has a kindness that makes her blind to a lot of crudeness of the world but at the same, she doesn’t back down when the world starts pushing her and Liam won’t let her do it alone.

I had very high hopes for this after Empires & Kings just completely ruined me for a few weeks. Now, I am ruined till I can get the next book in the series. It exceeded everything I thought and I was curled up from the first word to the last. For the duration of a day, I breathed this book. I could not put it down, constantly I was turning pages to see what happen next. Then when I read the last page, I was mad that it was over. By the end of the first book, Empires & Kings, you knew that something major was brewing. It was and so many secrets are brought to the light. If you loved the first book, you’ll LOVE Saints & Savages. A fan of mafia, biker, and just plain alpha men will love this. On to the next!

Saints and Savages
By: A.C. Bextor
📚💕⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐💕📚

Highly Anticipated Book 2 is a great continuation to this high punch drama, A.C. Bextor waisted no time sucking you in and reminding us the reader she is one imaginative writer. Oh and wasted no time with the gore of it all. The book hangover I have was so exciting and everything I knew it would be. I was lucky enough to receive an ARC in exchange for my honest review so here it is SPOILER FREE!!!

Growing up in a mafia crime family Liam is the link between both the Dawson and Palleshi families.

Ciro, Liam's crazed uncle will do anything to for revenge and power and that includes blackmailing Liam to get him to join the family business even though Liam is a doctor and wants nothing to do with the crime and violence that is his heartless uncle. Liam the doctor: will stand up for what he believes in, Liam strives to help those who need him. Liam is a good honest man. Liam is the Complete Package. He will fight for Wren and others he believes need him.

Liam Should Not Be Underestimated!

This book was absolutely incredible and exactly the kind of story I've come to expect from this incredibly talented author.

I refuse to give you bit by bit detail of the storyline, because that would Take away the excitement and danger intthe story. All readers should have the experience of the Raw Grit, Intensity & Exciting Characters page after page.Shocking Information that will blow your mind.

Congrats A.C. Bextor another perfectly written and definitely twisted book!!!! Total PERFECTION

*arc by author in exchange for an honest review*

Saints and savages is a continuation of empires and kings. We meet Liam again 8 years after the first book. Ciro is still the same sadistic, evil villain, and he's plotting his final revenge against Vlad.
Liam is fairly removed from Ciro and his business dealings. He's aware somewhat of what's going on, but loves being a Dr too much to every want to go into the family business.
Wren is a waitress working at a diner that Liam and his friend Pete frequent. He asks her out, she refuses several times, until one lucky day she agrees. This is more a friends to lovers type story, and one of my regrets is id probably have liked a bit more steam in this book but alas it was possibly more tame IMO.
It's hard to go too much into this story without giving a lot away, but, wren has a past, and an ex which this whole books centres around.
We also get a glimpse into New charters from the MC which I'm hoping the next book will be about.
I have to say that even I though I liked savages & saints, I did enjoy the first book more. I personally like my mafia/MC books quite dark and gritty so this one just felt a bit lacking. I really am a fan of A.C Bextor and I'll definitely be reading more in this & her other series.

DIRTY KNEES REVIEWS: Saints and Savages by AC Bextor 5 KNEES!

What a follow up!!

Eight years have passed since Vlad's unshakeable security for all he loved had tumbled to the ground. Years and years have gone by without avenging the death of his closest family. The family believed to be instrumental in cracking the Russian Empire grows wary, and starts taking the innocent to mold into soldiers. The day has come, but whose at risk is a shock to everyone involved!

Just when you think you have all the pieces laid out, ready to seamlessly fit together, she throws you bomb after bomb and you are so awestruck you need time out to gather your wits. I would never guess in a million years where this story was going! AC Bextor did a fantastic job weaving the storyline to where everyone was somehow connected to each other but so far removed...bloody brilliant!

This is a "Do Not Pass" One Cick for sure!!! If you need to catch up...book one Empires and Kings is only 99 pennies...99 PENNIES!!!!!!!!!! You have got to read this series....so well written and so cleverly constructed!!! Well done!!

Saints and Savages

Wow! This is one intense book, awesome but intense in a fantastic way. I absolutely love AC Bextor her books are awesome. This book has bikers and mafia , Liam's family wants him back in the business ( mafia) but he wants nothing to do with it, insert Wren the female Liam is crazy about ,oh my what these two go through will keep you turning page after Page , the secrets and lies holy crappola, this really is a fantastic read, in true A C style you get lots of hotness, lots sexy alpha male, but better than that an amazing story. This book was very well written , the words flow so well. this is the second book in the Mafia series . My hope is that Gypsy gets his book next. All I can say is "Read it"""""" if I could give it a 10 I most definitely would.

I really liked this book, the way that it continued the previous story in the background while also bringing new elements to the tale with Liam and Wren. (Side note: Love her name)

There were parts that were difficult to read but the first book was the same so its not really a surprise? hmm what else. OH MY GOD THAT TWIST?! I did NOT see that coming and that is saying something because usually I can tell when shit is about to go down. Wow, just out of no where! I wont spoil anything, Im not like that. I just like vaguely hinting and jumping up and down until someone else gets to that point in the book then you go "Oh my God, RIGHT?!?!"

I am assuming there is more to this story the way that this one ended and I hope I am right. I met some new characters that I wouldn't mind reading more about in the books to come.

I can't wait for more :)

Exciting!!

Wonderful! I honestly didn't think AC could top Empires and Kings but boy was I wrong. Saints and Savages is raw, gritty, exciting and full of great characters. I absolutely love Wren. She's full of spunk and sass. Strong female characters are my favorites and Wren definitely fits that.

Liam grew up in the mafia. Not wanting to go that route he goes to medical school and follows his dream of being a doctor. When his uncle won't take no for an answer, Liam has a tough decision to make.

I'm loving this series. The writing grabs you and places you in the book. You feel as though your living this story along with the characters. Im so excited to see where things go next. Loved it!

Once again we are transported into a world where mobs rule. This time it's Liam's story and the back handed way his uncle tries to get him into the family business that he has worked so hard to keep out of. All is not what it seems though and that becomes evident the further you get into the book. There are a few twists that knock you off course to which I didn't see coming. It was nice to get reaquainted with Vlad, Killian and we also see a bit more of Elevent and the Saints justice MC and I'm looking forward to reading more about them especially Gyspy. I really enjoyed this book and it was packed full of drama and the story just flowed. I couldn't put it down.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.

AC Bextor, now this woman can write!!! So, I read her first book in this series, Empires and Kings. Let’s just say I fell head over heels in LOVE with a Monster!! If you have not one-clicked the first book you definitely need to, as it is absolutely phenomenal!!! And you really need to know who all the players are before you can dig into the second book, Saints and Savages!! Cause trust me you will want to continue the emotional roller coaster with all the twist and turns AC throws at you!

Saints and Savages, wow!! This story was amazing. The more she writes, the more we find out. and let’s just say you are in for some serious surprises!!

This story is about Liam and Wren, however you still get to read about the other characters you were introduced to in book 1. Liam was born into the Mafia family but he never wanted anything to do with taking over the family business. Wren, was a woman who had it a little hard growing up. She did what she had to survive. She was very loving and kind and oh boy she was one strong woman!!! Liam and Wren had a to fight to get what they wanted, and that was each other.

Enjoy the ride!

Much love, AC!

This is Liam and Wren's story. A story full of hope.

Liam is the nephew of the Italian mafia leader Ciro and grandson of the Irish leader Killian. He has been brought up by Ciro after his parents die but has never been involved with the family.

Wren doesn't see what others see in her. She is kind, loving and caring. Liam sees all of her and is determined to get to know her better.

It all sounds simple but it's not. This is a story of intrigue and has plot twists you won't see coming.

A.c. Bextor has continued to create a world that sees all the characters interlink with each other, so you never truly leave them in another book.

You will not be disappointed

Heart and brutality

I enjoyed the story of Liam and Wren. Very much so...
There was such an innocence to these two. They both had heart and similar experiences in life...caught up in a world of brutality. How they fell in love was beautiful. The pursuit that became friendship which turned into something more. But evil has a way of ruining it.
I'm happy that this book tied up the loose ends from the first. We get updates from Vlad's and Killian's. And of course, Ciro. But we get a closer look at Elevant and his club. Which intrigues me. I hope there is a book about them. Look forward to that. Good job and great story!

I was lucky enough to receive and Arc for this book. In order to understand what is happening you must have read Empires and Kings.

This book follows Liam who is caught between two mob families. Will he continue to serve the community or when a tragedy happens to someone he loves will he do what he's always said he wouldn't?

Liam's character evolved so well and adapted to his surroundings. I loved watching him fall in love. This is a must read series... This author is always a one click must read for me. .
