LOVE WELCOME SERVE is a cookbook of Southern comfort food from Amy Nelson Hannon, the owner of Euna Mae's, a destination kitchen boutique in Northwest Arkansas.
Having been a preacher's wife in the South for more than twenty years, Amy Hannon's heart for hospitality was established, confirming her long-held belief that people who are cooked for feel cared for. Modeled after her grandmother, Euna Mae, Amy's big-hearted lifestyle has become noticed by a disconnected world that is drawn to her mission of using food to love, welcome, and serve those around her. Amy encourages people to open their homes and their hearts, connecting with folks over food; and she offers home cooks simple, crowd-pleasing, comfort recipes, meals that can be prepared for whatever the hospitality affair. Recipes like Brown Sugar Chili over Cheese Grits, Cream Cheese Chicken Enchiladas, and Sam's Pulled Pork are perfect belly-fillers for gathering people in your home. And recipes like Comfort Chicken Pot Pie, Hello Dolly Brownies, and Layered Spaghetti Pie are ideal for giving to folks when they just need to feel loved. Combined with her refreshing enthusiasm and approachable recipes, Amy Hannon has ignited a passion in young cooks who are spreading their hospitality wings, and she has reignited that same passion in seasoned cooks who had forgotten how much joy comes from serving others. Love Welcome Serve, Amy's first cookbook, will encourage you to embrace hospitality so you can enjoy the life that happens when you make and serve food for your people.
A reputation of hospitality and service paved the way for Amy Nelson Hannon to burst onto the scene in the fall of 2013. Amy gathered goods and treasures to create Euna Mae's Heirloom Kitchen Boutique booth at a regional holiday shopping event. People responded overwhelmingly not only to her products but also to her warmth. She sold out of every item in less than two days and had a list of people who wanted to be contacted for more. Not only did Amy find a market for her carefully curated products, but she discovered there was a growing demand for them. From her store to her online presence, that message has ignited a passion in young cooks who are just learning how to be hospitable and has reignited the same passion in seasoned cooks who had forgotten how much joy comes from serving others. In a marketplace that swings from fancy and foraged to homegrown, Amy has settled on a perfect blend of family, friends and food. Her message that welcoming others into your home can be reasonable and lovely offers a refreshing voice in a conversation filled with complicated recipes, expensive ingredients and quite frankly a whole lot of work. For Amy it always goes back to the heart-a heart to love, welcome and serve.

I instantly fell in love with the charm of LOVE WELCOME SERVE. The introduction alone made me wish the author and I were friends. I know I would enjoy being in her kitchen, cooking and chatting the day away. She truly seems like a warm and genuine woman.

Easy, comforting meals with equally easy to follow recipes!
This book is for everyone that loves the feel that comforting homemade meals bring!
It has a nice mixture of different recipes without going overboard. It goes from appetisers to dessert, has a nice mixture of big bowl kind of meals and smaller portions. I also felt as if a lot of the recipes in the book could be combined with each other of someone is looking for an entire menu to make, they can defiantly find it all in here and find the best fitting recipes that make it all seem like you spend way longer than you did planning it all out.
The only thing i personally found a bit disappointing -which i don't know if that is going to change in the actual released book or not- is that there are not enough pictures of the actual food in this book! I LOVE cookbooks with basically too many pictures of all the dishes in it. Its a personal preference but its just what i enjoy the most. And while there are some pictures in this book i thought there could have easily been the double amount.
Its a great book, i love that everything is made from scratch and super easy to follow recipes, making this book perfect for all levels of cooking!
If you want a cookbook that gives you nice home-y feeling recipes, highly recommend this book!
*Thanks to NetGalley, the publishers and the author for giving me a free e-copy of this book in exchange for a free and honest review*
What a beautiful book! I can think of people I want to gift it to, customers that will love it and I want my own copy. The thoughtfulness of her words and the beautiful photos not to mention the wonderful recipes, I can't wait to share this title. I really don't know how I haven't heard of it before now.
This cookbook includes great recipes for family gatherings and celebrations. Amy presents her food beautifully and uses simple ingredients that you likely have in your pantry or can find easily at the store. Her pound cake is delicious but make sure you can give some away!
I loved the introduction of this cookbook and the Biblical description of Love Welcome Serve lifestyle. The recipes are so delicious yet easy enough for a weeknight without many “extra” ingredients. I’m excited to have this cookbook in my pantry, or I suspect more commonly on my countertop.
I wrote a review for this delightful cook book a couple of years ago, but lost it in an unfortunate computer accident. I still want to review this cook book as I enjoyed reading it and also cooking some of the recipes.
Author Amy Nelson Hannon owns a boutique kitchen store, Euna Mae’s, in Springdale, Arkansas. Euna Mae’s is named after her grandmother. Amy channels her grandmother and states that good food can be used to welcome, love, and serve family, friends, and the community.
The cook book starts with a great introduction from Amy Nelson Hannon on why she wrote the cookbook and her thoughts on cooking. She then has a section called “A Few Things about a Few Things” where she goes into detail on the quality and types of ingredients she uses and why she uses them (for flavor, texture, quality), and items you should have in a well-stocked kitchen and pantry. I thought this was all very interesting.
The recipes themselves are sorted into categories that you often see in cook books, but Hannon has great titles for them. For appetizers she has “Bites that Welcome” and her desserts section is title “For the Love of Sweets.” It gave me a smile just reading the titles for the sections. Each recipe has a tasty looking picture, a paragraph about where the recipe originated, helpful hints, and what it could be used for. I loved just reading through the recipes. The directions were very detailed and worked great for making the recipes. The ingredients were all items I could find at my local Piggly Wiggly.
We selected a few as a family and discovered some new favorite items to cook. We made the 30-minute spinach artichoke penne and it was very tasty. Recipe sizes are large for gatherings so we made half the recipe for our family and it was plenty. My husband accidentally bought marinated artichokes for it . . . which did taste a bit funny. We’ll have to make sure to buy artichokes packed in water for the next time we make it.
We also made the layered spaghetti pie which the entire family enjoyed. It had a really good crunchy top and I even found the picture I took of it. It made a lot and did not fit into my spring foam pan, I had to use a 9”x 13” pan to fit it in. Next time I make it for just my family of five, I will half the recipe and put it in my spring foam pan. This would be a good recipe for a big family gathering. It did take me two hours to prepare so it is a weekend meal.
My family is a lover of desserts. My fourteen-year-old son Kile especially loved the double chocolate blondies in this cook book. I made them once and he has made them multiple times since then. We’ve also taken them as a dessert to pass to various functions. The chocolate peanut butter dream pie was good and a nice dessert to present to my book club. I have some other recipes I still want to try out in this cook book!
Overall, Love, Welcome, Serve is a great cookbook. I loved the stories about the recipes, the pictures, and the recipes themselves. It was very tasty to try out with my family! As author Amy Nelson Hannon says, good food brings our family and friends together. I can’t wait to serve my friends and family when we can all be together again.

I was excited to get a copy of Amy Nelson Hannon’s Love Welcome Serve cookbook from Netgalley because, being from the South, I always look for different twists on Southern favorites.
Mrs. Hannon seems like a nice lady with a ton of personality. I like the personal paragraphs before each recipe – you really get to know where she’s coming from for the recipe and how much she or the family enjoyed it. There are great photos and the instructions to the recipes are clear and descriptive.
I made the Grilled Corn Salad with Feta and really enjoyed it! Instead of grilling the corn, though, I microwaved it for a few minutes, then pan charred it before adding it to the rest of the ingredients. Mainly I did this because I don’t have a grill, and also was able to forego a bunch of butter added during the corn cooking. It’s a simple, delicious little salad, with a nice dressing.
That said, I noticed quite a few of her recipes had Velveeta and/or cream in them, making them much heavier than I prefer. Take note, it’s definitely not a lightened recipe cookbook! A lot of the recipes I already had from some Junior League and church cookbooks – just standards with nothing different to add. I was hoping to get a few new Southern recipes (although there are some good looking salads!).
I look forward to trying a few other recipes soon – Sister’s Favorite Spinach Dip, Cheese Grits, and Chili and Brown Sugar Pork Chops with Pan Gravy.

I give this book 5/5 stars and highly recommend you put this on your Wish List!
I love the premise behind this book: a preacher's wife who cooks for the community. I love the introduction to this book where the author says she loves feeding anyone who walks through her door because "people that are cooked for feel cared for". Amen! The author seems like a wonderful person and I picked this book for the giveaway because I liked her and what she stood for. The introduction is really beautiful and the pictures in the book are gorgeous.
I really wanted to like this book. The recipes do indeed look beautiful. However, if you are vegetarian and health oriented, like me, then this book isn't for you. This is for someone that likes the Southern style of cooking with lots of dairy and meat and lots of cheese, bacon and pork.
Some of the recipes are beautiful though and I would love to try to make them more vegan when I have the time. I will definitely use this book as a reference for making my meals look pretty. The book is indeed lovely for someone who enjoys this type of food and would make a beautiful gift as well. However, it's target market is more limited than other cookbooks.
Love Welcome Serve by Amy Nelson Hannon is almost too pretty to leave open on the kitchen countertop, prey to drips and stains! Hannon, the owner of Euna Mae's Kitchen Boutique, spills her heart in the intro - and it cannot be missed. Oft times we open a book and get right to it but in this pretty hardback book? DON'T SKIP THE INTRODUCTION!
I want to be Amy's neighbor and I also want to walk the floor of Euna Mae's. This cookbook is pretty enough to be a coffee table book - the photography is exquisite and the recipes? To die for or better yet, to live for!
If you are looking for a gift for the new bride or the grandma cooking for one - look no further. Pick this one up today!
I just love this cookbook! Even though all the recipes do not have photos I’m still giving it 5 stars. The author is a preacher’s wife and has had plenty of opportunity to serve her church, friends and family delicious home cooked meals. It’s her way of showing people they are loved and cared for whether they are grieving a loss, celebrating or just plain sick and in need of some chicken noodle soup. These are not healthy or on trend recipes but yummy comfort food. I can’t wait to try the cream cheese sausage balls, pigs in a blanket with brown sugar-honey mustard and Gran’s strawberry cake. Her mac n cheese recipe is simple and made with Velveeta. Yum! There’s also biscuits and gravy and cheese grits too. This is comfort food y’all. Dig in!

Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy as part of the FirstWords Blogger Program (from the publisher), but I wasn't required to leave a positive review.
This is one of my favorite cookbooks I have read. it has some good old fashioned southern comfort and humor. It is filled with delicious recipes, some tips on products to use, kitchen tools, and more. Most of the recipes look very easy to make with a limited amount of ingredients. The recipes are broken down into sections to make it easier for finding main courses or deserts. There are tons of great pictures that make you very hungry while flipping through the book.
I received this book from the Author or Publisher via Netgalley.com to read and review.
This cookbook of heartwarming anecdotes and family friendly recipes is made complete with appealing photos. The pictures make you feel like your looking through someone's photo album and recipe box. You'll find these recipes hitting your table at your next gathering of family and friends.
Note: I received this a copy of this book from the publisher, Center Street, via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
I really love cookbooks like this. You can really tell Amy loves to cook and entertain her family and friends. Her southern charm radiates her book. It had an inviting feel that was welcoming and the recipes accessible. She has some really useful information that will help regarding ingredients and equipment to use. I can't wait to try some of those delicious desserts.
I loved the beautifully illustrated recipes, and the warmly written comments. Unfortunately, for someone with health restrictions (needing lower carbohydrate and healthy fats only), this book was limited in the recipes I would try. Otherwise, it was a beautiful and charming cookbook which was organized for easy entertaining.
What a beautiful book! Recipes all look delicious, the whole premise of feeding as service is a wonderful thing to share. Thoughtfully written, beautifully photographed and put together with grace, kindness and a generous spirit. Just lovely.
I can't wait to get this book. Amy is an AMAZING cook, and having already enjoyed several of her recipes, I KNOW this book is going to be full of goodness!
"Why do I feed people? Because I believe with my whole heart that people who are cooked for feel cared for." I have followed @eunamaes for while on the internet and I have been itching to get my hands on this cookbook to see if it is worth it for me to buy (southern food normally equals lots of dairy so I have to gauge which cookbooks are worth my time). I loved flipping through these pages. So many tasty recipes with wonderful tips for how to cook and serve them. Yes, Amy does like dairy, but I think I can substitute around most of it to be able to eat these foods.
What a wonderful book- there is a plethora of great tasting dishes well within the abilities of the home cook. Sharing food is a profound way of sharing love with your family and friends and the author brings that dimension here.
The first thing that caught my eye were the great photos -- including one of 'well-loved' bundt cake pans; it was so nice to see not-so-new items. I've got weird attachments to my old pots and pans (not that they make my food taste any better). Then one of the first recipes was for "Aunt Lori's Cheese Ball' - I didn't know what a cheese ball was, and that it can actually be made! I enjoyed the recipes (toasted coconut and bacon popcorn -- WHAT?!) which were southern and modern enough for me to get excited about cooking (it's hard when ingredients can't be found where I live).
