The world tells us that the way to make all our dreams come true is to set our own course and strive every day. But when it's all on us, we end up feeling exhausted, frustrated, and, disappointed when things don't turn out as we'd hoped. Have you ever wondered if there was a better way?
There is. God knows the desires of our hearts--he put them there. And he calls us to trust, to lean on him, and sometimes . . . to wait. Weaving together her unique perspective as a professional ballerina with profound truths drawn from Scripture and the life of faith, Sarah Beth Marr reminds us that we are not dreaming alone. If God has given us a dream, we can be sure that he will come alongside us as we work toward realizing it. Using her own story as a catalyst, Marr encourages women to surrender their plans to God, to stay in tempo with his Spirit, and to step into a deeper relationship with Christ. When they do, she says, they will be able to move confidently into the future, knowing that their dreams and God's desires are aligned in perfect harmony.
Sarah Beth Marr is a wife and mama whose passion is to encourage women in their journeys with the Lord through her writing, speaking, and teaching the Word. Sarah danced professionally for over fifteen years as a ballerina for Ballet Austin and Mejia Ballet International (formally known as Ballet Arlington.) Her dancing inspired her to begin a blog of devotionals for ballet dancers, which over time has evolved into a ministry of encouragement to women of all ages. Sarah’s first book, Dreaming with God – A Bold Call to Step Out and Follow God’s Lead releases in February of 2018 with Baker Books.
Sarah loves to encourage women in their journeys with the Lord. She is passionate about bringing joy-filled, grace-filled, biblically-based messages to the hearts of women of all ages. Sarah teaches from her heart and her passion is to stir up women’s wonder of the Lord, to spur them on in their personal relationship with Him, to equip them with the Word, to inspire them to dream with God, and to send them out refreshed, encouraged, and inspired to lean into the grace of Jesus.
When Sarah is not encouraging women, she is hanging with her favorite people. She lives in Dallas, TX with her husband and high school sweetheart, Brian, and their three sons. Connect with Sarah at sarahbethmarr.com, on Instagram @sarahbethmarr, and Facebook: Sarah Beth Marr.
So eye-opening & needed! Sarah Beth Marr wrote the truth in such a sweet, tender manner & it was refreshing for my heart.
I answered the questions that follow each chapter in a personal journal of mine, and I know I'm going to enjoy looking back on my answers years from now 😊
If you're a Christian woman struggling with letting go of your desires and trusting them into God's hands, I would hand you this book immediately !
Dreaming With God is the first book of Sarah Beth Marr, who is a blogger and speaker. The book feels like Sarah Beth invited you over to the porch for coffee and encourages you to continue to dream with God. She draws many times on her experience dancing ballet -- 15 years professionally -- but you don't have to share her background in dance to appreciate it. I LOVED learning the dance world a little bit through her book. Some of my biggest takeaways were the great dancing analogies she uses: how a dancer stands tall and firm and dances "big" and stretches her body because it makes her dance more beautiful, how God is her choreographer, and how a dancer must trust her partner to get her where she needs to go instead of trying to lead herself. She also discusses times she had to trust God with her children and career decisions, and that was more relatable to my life personally. The book invites you to rest and trust in God that the dreams he births in you will come true. She tells her own story where she had to trust in God and lean on him making a way for her, instead of her going out and making it happen. I received the book at a point in my life where God was showing me dreams, but realizing them is taking a little longer. I was frustrated at not seeing my dreams happen right away, but Sarah Beth reminded me through Dreaming With God that God is in control of making the dream realized; my job is to follow and delight in him. Each chapter ends with a reflection time and prayer guide which is wonderful and can really help you process the material and personalize it. My very favorite part of the book, funny enough, was the Final Notes of Encouragement at the end, so stick around til you hit the final page. Sometimes when I'm looking to read a book, having the chapter titles is helpful so I know what is covered, so here's the chapter titles: Searching for God in Your Dreaming Journey Spotting the Truth about Who You Are Soaking in God's Heart for You Surrendering to God's Lead Settling into a Rhythm of Grace Securing Your Hope as You Wait on Your Dreams Simplifying Your Life Down to God's Best Assignments Seeing the Impact of Dreaming With God Stirring Up Your Joy for Your Daily Dance Standing with Intention, Purpose, and Focus Seeking God When Your Dreams Don't Come True Stepping into the Sweetest Dance
Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book from the publisher, but I was under no obligation to provide a positive review.
I just finished Dreaming With God and I've been so encouraged by how much truth is written into it! Sarah Beth offers an alternative to society's messages about following your dreams and planning for your future, by putting God at the center of it. My favorite passage from the book offers a good example of why Sarah Beth's message is important: "The problem with holding on too tightly to our dreams is that they can become a stronghold in our lives. Then when those dreams don't come true, we are emotionally wrecked because that dream had become our very life....Surrendering protects our hearts when our dreams don't go as planned because we have grounded our lives in the Dream-Giver rather than the dream." Sarah Beth offers us inspiration for how and why to put God's desires and plans ahead of our own, for His glory and our good. It's definitely a book I'll turn back to when I need to be reminded not to rely on my own strength as I follow my dreams!
Every once in a while, a book comes along that impacts your life in ways both beautiful and altogether transformative. A book like this reaches deep into your heart and stirs to life parts of your soul that have long been hidden, all while challenging and inspiring your thoughts and ideas. “Dreaming with God: A Bold Call to Step Out and Follow God’s Lead” by Sarah Beth Marr is just such a book for me, and I know without a doubt that I am not the only one who will be tremendously blessed by its precious messages. Published by Baker Books and released in February of 2018, “Dreaming with God” is truly the type of book that will remain with you long after you reach the end.
To give you a quick idea of just what “Dreaming with God” is about, let me share a few of my favorite chapter titles: Searching for God in Your Dreaming Journey; Spotting the Truth about Who You Are; Surrendering to God’s Lead; Securing your Hope as You Wait on Your Dreams; Seeing the Impact of Dreaming with God; Seeking God When Your Dreams Don’t Come True; and Stepping into the Sweetest Dance. You may be asking if you need to be a dancer to fully benefit from reading this book, but the answer is a definite “no”! I am not a dancer by any stretch of the imagination, but I was still able to fully understand and enjoy each page of this book. Dancing is simply an overarching theme, used to symbolize our journey of “dancing” through life with God as our guide and partner.
As we begin our journey of “Dreaming with God”, Sarah Beth’s constant encouragement is that the place to start dreaming is in Scripture. Each page of her book is firmly founded in God’s Word, and at the end of each chapter are corresponding “Prayer, Scripture, and Reflection for Your Dreaming Heart” sections. She also notes that “Our dreaming journeys with God begin when we see that the way He made us actually points to His dreams for us”. And, “God’s dreams for us are actually pathways to His heart, as well as to others’ hearts. God wants us to allow Him to guide us into the dreams He has for us.” Of course, as we all know our dreams don’t always come true the way we hope for, but as Sarah Beth explains, “He knows the path you need to be on and the one you should avoid. I know how disheartening it can feel when it seems that your dreams and God’s dreams for you don’t match up... But the most amazing transaction happens when we let our ideals and dreams go and trade them in for His plans for our lives. Peace. Know today that God’s dreams for you are for your very best and for His glory.” I will stop sharing quotes now (trust me, I have MANY more highlighted sections in each chapter!!) and instead encourage you to read the entire book for yourself.
So, in the end, what is it that makes “Dreaming with God” so special? I think a huge part of answering this question lies in the fact that the author truly lives out her message. I was given the incredible blessing of being on Sarah Beth’s launch team for “Dreaming with God”, and after interacting with her in various ways it is crystal-clear that while the words of the book were written by her, it is also a message that God whispered to her and guided her to share with readers. If you only add a single Christian non-fiction book to your reading list this year, I can’t encourage you enough to let that one choice be “Dreaming with God”. Take God’s hand, and start your own journey, your own sweetest dance of dreaming with Him.
In our society, there is a LOT of talk about following your dreams. We always tell our children that they can be anything they want and encourage them to strive to reach them. In and of itself, this isn't a bad message... following our dreams is important. It's how we get there however that makes the difference. To follow our dreams, we MUST put God at the center of it all. This book is a beautiful reminder of that.
Sarah Beth Marr uses her experience as a professional ballet dancer to beautifully illustrate that we must trust God with our dreams. She does so with beautiful ballet inspired metaphors throughout. This makes it a fantastic choice for dancers, but don't worry- even if you're not familiar with the ballet terms used throughout, she does a great job of illustrating the points regardless of our ballet knowledge (my own being only the basics!). She also includes a glossary of ballet terms to help us out. Personally, I have always been fascinated by the subject of dance so I really enjoyed this aspect of the book... but it really does offer insights that can be applied to everyone.
At the end of each chapter, you will find a prayer, a variety of scriptures related to that chapter and a series of questions that will help you dig deeper into the messages. There is some room to respond within the pages, but you might find you want to use a journal for more room too.
Overall, this is a great read for anyone who needs a little encouragement in following their dreams and following God's role in it all. Whether you are a ballet dancer or not, this is a good read.
**I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher for consideration. All thoughts are 100% my own.
We all have dreams and goals in life. Society as a whole tends to take those dreams and "Run with them". Many times the dreams don't become reality because we are doing it on our own.
Sarah Beth Marr wrote "Dreaming with God: A Bold Call to Step Out and Follow God's Lead" and it is her first book. I am AMAZED at this book!! It truly spoke LOUD and CLEAR that we should surrender our Dreams to God and follow his lead. He will take us step by step and we need to slow down and allow him to slowly take us through those steps and not try to forge ahead and move to fast.
"Dreaming with God" is a wonderful book to do as an individual study or as a group Bible Study. Each chapter has a Question and Answer section better known as Prayer, Scripture and Reflection. The Questions really make you think and look deep within your heart.
When we surrender our Dreams and Goals and let God lead us to achieve them, success will come!! GREAT BOOK!!
Apparently, God knew that I needed this book in my life at this moment! I loved the reminder in it that God gives us dreams and helps us to accomplish them. Sometimes those dreams look different than we originally thought, like when Sarah Beth thought she should dance with a larger ballet company, but God lead her to a smaller one that enabled her to meet her husband. This book reminded me of some of my dreams over my lifetime and that it's good to continue to dream and seek God's will on those dreams. I love that this book approaches dreams differently than the world does and reminds the reader to continually seek the Lord, since He is the giver of dreams. I highly recommend this one! I received this book from Just Read tours. This is my honest review and is in no way influenced by receiving a complimentary copy.
*I received this book in exchange for an honest review. A huge thank you to Baker Books and Sarah Beth Marr!*
I’ve followed Sarah Beth Marr on Instagram for years now. From her beautiful dancing, to her meaningful devotionals on her blog, I’ve really adored her, and have loved watching her grow through her writing journey. When she first announced that she was releasing a book, I just knew I had to read it!
One of the things I really liked about Dreaming with God was the writing style. It wasn’t simple, but it wasn’t over-the-top elaborate, either. It was very conversational and relatable. I felt like Sarah Beth was right there, talking to me and sharing her heart, while I was reading this book, and I really appreciated that.
Another thing I loved was how much emphasis was placed on that fact that we are all unique, and our dreams and desires are important. Our interests, our hopes, every little detail about is is important, even the ones that seem silly or unnecessary. I really loved this quote and all that it encompassed:
“All the little things that seem insgnificant – even pointless – are God’s touch of creativity in each of us.”
~ pg. 28
Something else that I really appreciated in this book was the reminder that sometimes our dreams are going to change – whether we want them to or not – and that’s okay. Dreaming with God definitely encourages us to dream and work hard for those dreams, but it also recognizes the fact that some of our dreams may not come true the way we would have initially hoped for, and that’s okay. I I found it really helpful reading about Sarah Beth’s experiences with disappointment and how she had to change and adapt her dreams when it came to writing and dancing.
Also, despite the fact that our dreams may have to change, I love how she emphasized that we don’t have to wait to be happy. We need to stop saying “once I get this…” or “after this happens…then I’ll be happy.” I love how this book focuses on celebrating the now! We need to value our place in this world and where we are at in this stage of life. Not only will that make it even sweeter to look back on once our dreams have come true, but it also helps us in the waiting, and the in between periods of our dreams.
One last thing I want to talk about this book, is the dance metaphors. As a dancer, I absolutely loved them! They were great for visualizing, and I found them so relatable. That being said, even if you aren’t a dancer, the author does a great job at explaining things through, and a glossary of dance terms is included in the back, which was such a nice touch. I think it is going to be so helpful for the non-dancers who read this book.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It’s very encouraging, inspiring, and filled with Scripture! I think Dreaming with God is really going to appeal to dancers, but honestly, I think anyone looking for some help and encouragement with their dreams is going to love this book!
Dreaming with God is Sarah Beth Marr’s first book. She is an active blogger, MOP speaker, mom, wife, and women speaker. She can now add author to her list. As a professional ballet dancer for the last fifteen years she has a unique insight on dreaming with God. Don’t worry you don’t have to be a ballet dancer to appreciate this heartfelt book. I know zilch about ballet dancing and have only watched one performance in my life. She made the book interesting as she uses ballet to weaves you into following your dreams and emphasizes that you must put your trust in God first. Some beautiful points throughout like, securing your pointe shoe ribbon to be secure in Jesus. A beautiful expressive metaphoric way to explain being secure that HE has you and died on the cross for you. You can relate to her book as you use your own career to reflect upon the message in this book. The author shares her own testimony and journey throughout as she talks about following God with her dreams and planning it for the future. I know lots of young folks who plan for their future and have big dreams of what their life is going to look like. Unfortunately they find disappointment in the career choice or lose their sight on the relationship that they needed to cultivate with God first. Not only is does she emphasis dreaming but having joy and I took away being satisfied with the journey. I can’t help but to think about all the children’s movies out there that talk about following your heart and dreams and make it look so glorious to young kids. They of course don’t have the most important aspect of Jesus being in the center of it and the priority. I kept thinking those thoughts throughout and watched a few of those movies with my daughter lately. This would be a wonderful book for a teenager before they go off to college, or start a career, or whatever waits them as they venture off on their own life journey. They leave with big dreams and wide eyes with lots of excitement. You see that they lose that spark as the reality seeps in for so many. The ones who truly center in on God are different even if those dreams and plans don’t go according to their plans. Each chapter has a space for you to reflect, “Prayer, Scripture, and Reflection for Your Dreaming Heart” You can write in the book with the space provided or you can use a journal to write. Overall a beautiful and heartfelt book that left me reflecting on my own life and looking back at all the dreams I had when I was younger. I could have done lots of things different and I sure could have put Jesus in the center of it a lot more. I hope to instill these concepts I took away to my teens that have completely different roads ahead of them. Even my son needs to be reminded of these things. I received a free copy of this product
This book is about taking your dreams, dreams of all sizes, and dreaming about them not on your own, but with God. Instead of thinking of those dreams as belonging to you alone, thinking about them as belonging to both you and God.
On the way to the fulfillment of her own dreams, Sarah Beth Marr discovered that contrary to the standard world’s message about dreams, God doesn’t want us to approach them alone, thinking that all we have to do is work hard with determination, never letting them out of our sight for a moment. Instead, He wants us to focus our eyes on Him, trusting Him with our dreams and waiting for Him to make the next move. She writes that she hopes you also will find “a new level of grace, joy, peace, and rest in His plans for you by dreaming with Him. These plan may be different from your own…But I believe God has called us to dream with Him, and when we do, our hearts will begin to dance in a new way” (p. 16).
She starts by requesting we contemplate who God made us to be–this is the start to understanding what obtainable dreams might be for us. “The things that give us joy, make our hearts go pitter-patter, and provide us a boost in our day are the very things given to us by God to bless us and steer our hearts toward His dreams for us” (p. 28). She also emphasizes that we begin to understand God’s heart for us. Once we get an idea of what we could dream with God, we need to hold it with a surrendered heart, trusting Him with it. As we work towards our dream, we don’t have to strive with anxiety. We can wait, knowing God has it in His hands, ready to take us there in His perfect timing.
She continues, writing about much more, including hanging onto hope and joy while we wait, simplifying our lives so we’re not focused on too many areas at one time, and learning how to handle when our dreams don’t come true.
All of this is written from the perspective of a ballerina with illuminating metaphors drawn from that vocation. Now, I know very little about the world of ballet. I’ve been to see a few ballets, mostly the Nutcracker, and although I enjoy it, I only have a vague notion what even a plié is. Thankfully, Sarah includes a glossary of ballet terms in the back, but I found that I didn’t even need it–she makes it all clear enough in the book. Although the book would especially be good for ballet dancers to read, it easily applies to anyone with a dream.
This book is written by Sarah Beth Marr, a professional ballerina. She explains, in a beautiful way, how to trust God in every moment and how to be bold in following God's lead. This book is written with a lot of metaphors about ballet and comparing that to our day to day journey with Jesus. This book is not only for dancers but for anyone who needs a refreshing in their walking with the Lord, at least that is what the book made me feel. Some of the quotes that challenged me are the following: - "The world seemed to shout, Chase, strive, and make it happen, but scripture echoed trust God, be still and wait on Him."
- "When life gets full, we forget Who we belong to. We forget we are made in the image of God."
- "God wants us to know that dreams make our hearts dance."
- "God desires for us to give ourselves permission to dream because dreaming keeps our hearts dancing."
- "Dreaming is a path to getting to know Him and pointing others to Him."
- "Every dream and desire is valuable in God's eyes."
- "Staying inspired keeps our hearts on course."
- "As you dream with God, beauty will spill out in your everyday moments."
Sarah Beth Marr wrote this book in such beautifully words that makes it very pleasant to read and to understand. It is super easy to relate to her personal stories. Each chapter ends with prayer and scriptures to look further on what she talks about. Also, there are some challenging questions that would make you analyze what you read in the chapter.
(I was given an advance reader copy in lieu of an honest review. All opinions are my own)
This book came to me with perfect timing. As I read each chapter, I am amazed at how it changes my perspective on things in my everyday life. As a dreamer of BIG dreams, I often fall into the worldy mindset of "becoming the best me that I can be" and "hustling my way to the top!" These attitudes are great if you're hustling towards God's dreams for you. This is something that is becoming more and more apparent as I finish this wonderful book. Sarah Beth's beautiful words walk you through finding God's dream for you as well as the waiting seasons and how to deal with the fact that your dreams don't always line up with God's plan. I don't want to spoil too much but I can definitely say that my life is being changed for the better as I embrace the journey of Dreaing With God and I pray yours will too. This is truly an amazing book that was wonderfully written. It even connects the "dance of life" with the world of ballet showing exactly how beautiful this journey can be. But don't worry, even if you've never danced a step, the book will still have a huge impact on your life and be easy to follow. I hope you find the book as enjoyable as I did!
Dreaming with God but Sarah Beth Marr is a book that inspires women of any age to explore their dreams with the help and guidance of God. Sarah Beth’s way of writing makes the reader feel as if she is sitting in the same room having a conversation with you, sharing her dreams with God. Each chapter ends with a short prayer that relates to the topic along with a set of questions that allow the reader to take a moment to think of their lives and write down thoughts and feelings that they have in their heart regarding their dreams and their life with God.
As a dancer, I can easily relate to what Sarah Beth writes about and even the questions that she asked herself and asked God. Sarah Beth does provides a glossary of ballet terminology for those that are not dancers and I feel the he book is written so that any woman can, in some way, relate to her story.
This book will make your heart dance, a joyful dance, as you strengthen your relationship with God. In chapter 4, you will find one of my favorite quotes of the book, “God will get you where you need to be.” A simple quote that has such a powerful message, which will always remain in my dancing heart.
Dreaming with God is truly a gift for the heart. Sarah Beth's sweet encouragement empowers and guides, embracing us while shifting our focus to Jesus. She reminds us the sweetest dreams are danced with God leading, as they are the pathways to His heart. She teaches us the joy in surrender, enabling us to discover the precious dreams He choreographed for us. One thing I most love about this book is that it goes far deeper than just our dreams.. it changes all that we are. It draws us nearer to God as she encourages us to grow ever closer to Him. Sarah Beth's message is pure God, for which I am grateful. The prayers and reflection at the conclusion of each chapter invite us to go all in for Jesus as she pours out her heart in her ministry.
You need not be a dancer to be blessed by this treasure. It touches the very soul as her God-inspired words illuminate our lives. Jewels of hope are prevalent, inspiring us to step out in faith straight into God's heart. This book is beautiful, inside and out.
Dreaming with God is a breath of fresh air. This book had be grabbing my journal out and writing down all the thoughts that came to my mind as I was reading Sarah's words. I was praying and listening to the voice of God for His dream for my life and not my own. This book is captivating for every woman who wants to lean on their own understanding but longs to lean into their creators vision for their lives. As people who are broken because of the curse, we long for His plan and unity with Him. I love that this book helps you find purpose and meaning. This book is a source of great encouragement and will have you feeling more spiritually light. I love how Sarah weaves in advice and her own experience through dance to help the reader gently feel nudged by the spirit to the calling of God. This book is wonderful and a must read for different seasons of your life. I am keeping this one on the shelf. I highly recommend this book, especially to women going off to college or women in transition. It is a great source of strength and encouragement. I give this book 5/5 stars.
What a great book! I feel like she’s reading my thoughts. So many of the things she wrote about I have thought And felt... stress in waiting, striving, dreams failing, feeling like God doesn’t hear etc. She has lots of great analogies that help the reader clearly visualize what she is talking about. Great descriptions of things. She does a great job of helping the reader understand what things mean and how they might look in real life. Loved the scripture and questions at the end of each chapter. However the reason I couldn’t give it 5 stars was because I feel like I wanted more scripture to back up the “God longs for...” or “God wants us...” type things. I don’t want an author’s opinion alone on those things I want what God says. Scripture to back the claims up would have gotten it to a 5. Otherwise it’s a great book written from the heart. I received a copy of this book from the author and publisher as a member of the book launch team.
Sarah Beth Marr uniquely shares scriptural truths about God’s desires and plans for our lives. She incorporates ballet terminology, technique and imagery throughout in order to encourage readers to pursue God deeply with the expectation of realizing the unique, wonderful plan he has for each person.
Although I have no prior dance experience, Sarah Beth’s beautiful and easy-to-picture ballet references have inspired me to reflect on and consider how I approach God with the dreams of my life. Included at the end of each chapter are spaces for journaling, reflecting, praying and responding to topics covered. Working through each chapter and savoring the scripture, insights, and stories made me want to keep reading and dreaming!
Dreaming with God will be an encouragement to anyone who is pursuing a dream, waiting on a dream to be fulfilled, or needing permission to dream big.
This book was just what I needed! Sarah Beth invites you to sit back, relax, dream big, and let God lead. A refreshing book for those with dreams stored in their hearts. Chapter 6 spoke right to my heart with the theme that "Gods got you" even while you wait for dreams to unfold. I would highly recommend this book to any lady in any walk of life...You're never too old to dream!! Each chapter has a small journaling section at the end, which I love! It really helped me to not only read the words, but let them soak into my heart. This book is beautiful, full of life, full of joy, full of hope, full of the truths of Gods Word, full of permission for you dream crazy dreams! ❤️ Start your dreaming journey by reading this book! 👌🏻
This book was a wonderful writing and compelling to read with also encouraging for all of us to see God very clearly and he are always with us from the beginning to the end every step by step as it like Sarah the author of this book learning to dance of Ballet to pursue her dream that can become true. I highly recommend to everyone must to read this book. “ I received complimentary a copy of this book from Baker Books Bloggers for this review”. Sarah Beth Marr danced professionally for more that fifteen years as a ballerina and now encourages woman in the dance od life and faith through her writing speaking at MOPS International groups and women’s events, and teaching the Word, She and her husband, Brian have three sons and lives in Dallas, Texas.
Dreaming with God: A Bold Call to Step Out and Follow God’s Lead is an encouraging book by Sarah Beth Marr that reminds us to trust God with our dreams. Marr is a professional ballerina, and I loved reading about her personal story. The book has a calm and serene feel to it.
The author employs dancing metaphors throughout the book, giving it a fun theme. However, you don’t have to be a dancer to like the book; anyone who is chasing after dreams can relate to the text. One of my favorite chapters was “Soaking in God’s Heart For You,” especially the part that talks about emotions that surface when we dream. Dreaming with God really makes you reflect on your dreams, your calling, and your walk with God.
I am the mom of a son that is a dancer. When he was in high school he wanted to follow his dreams and dance. I didn't see that as a "doable" option. However, God changed my heart and opened the door for me to come along side of him. When I saw this book it sparked my interest! This book is set up like a bible study with tons of inspiration. One of the quotes in the book is, "God is at work in your life, guiding you to the dreams He has for you." Such truth! I haven't completed the study. I just like the Dreaming WITH God. I know the WITH is such an IMPORTANT part, and I believe this book encourages seeking God.
I received a complementary copy of this book from Baker Books and was under no obligation to post a review.
In her book, Dreaming With God, Sarah Beth Marr explores the question - How do we find our dreams and live them out? . She delivers a call, to each of us, to step out boldly and follow God’s lead.
An author with a background in professional ballet, Sarah uses beautiful imagery to open our eyes to the truth God speaks about our dreams.
Dreaming With God is an encouraging and heartfelt book, bringing a most important reminder – “If God has given you a dream, you can be sure that He will be with you every step of the way.”
An encouraging and inspiring read for all women!
*** I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell/ a division of Baker Publishing Group in exchange for my honest review.
I love this book! Sarah Beth Marr takes the reader on an intimate journey of following dreams through faith in God and the dreams He has for each individual. The book offers marginal space, as well as designated, guided journaling space for the reader to jot thoughts, notes, dreams and prayers down as they read the book.
As a professional dancer myself, I resonate with this book so strongly. If you are a Christian immersed in the dance world, you need this book in your life. I have been so blessed with this book. It truly is an answered prayer!
Do you ever feel like it’s impossible to fulfill your dreams? Maybe it’s too much work. Sarah Beth Marr in “Dreaming with God” shows us that there is a better way. In this book, Sarah shows us how God knows all the desires of our heart. He wants us to trust him, even with our dreams. Sarah is a ballerina, and in this book she compares our dreams to being a ballerina. Sarah reminds us how God wants to walk with us every step of the way with our dreams. This book was an encouragement to fulfill my dreams.
I received this book from Baker Books for my honest opinion.
Dreaming With God is an encouraging and emotional read. Sarah Beth Marr shares insight of why it is important to put God at the center of your dreams. An inspiring read for why we should put God's desires and plans for us ahead of our own. I really enjoyed reading Dreaming With God and highly recommend it.
I loved this book! If had to use one word for it, I would say Lovely. Sarah Beth Marr invites the readers to explore the dreams and desires of their hears and let God shape and guide them. I enjoyed the small devotional type pages at the end of each chapter. I highly recommend this book especially as a gift for any HS seniors and/or college age women.
This book was the book I had always intended to write. What a lovely story and comfort to a like dreamer. As a christian dreamer I've always felt conflicted about pursuing dreams and this brought clarity to that system of belief.
Devotional. Good book, very encouraging. I felt like the main message was “dream big and work hard…but let God make it happen” or in other words, lean on Him to guide your steps and don’t worry when a dream isn’t unfolding the way you planned/how you want.
I've been reading this one a bit each week for months. I really like the format - Sarah's writing and then questions to engage with. This helped me think through some things I've been struggling with wanting to do but not being intentional about. I enjoy her writing style.
