Note: Free copy from the Author in exchange of an Honest review.

A highly disappointing read!!

The author very eloquently calls himself the ‘Mother’ and his stories as his ‘Children’ whom he kept hidden from the world fearing the harshness of the world. Fearing that his babies aren’t ready for the world out there.
I couldn’t agree more!!
These stories aren’t ready for the world. These ‘babies’ have been rightly hidden from the light of day.
Reading this book, you find that the underlying emotion is LOVE, in its different forms. Dear author, let me introduce you to another form of love called ‘Tough Love’. It is the kind of love that puts a lot of things in perspective and your 'babies' are in dire need of it.

The book has 3 short stories:

1. Catherine
2. Sidzy for a Day
3. The Highway Man

Amongst the 3 stories, only Catherine is worth glancing over. The rest two simply read as Ripoffs of some low budget Hindi flick. They are too cheesy and too sugary and way too cliched. There isnt even a hint of originality. I am sorry Mr. J. Alchem, honesty was promised and this is god’s honest truth from where I sit.

This is a book as short as 70 odd pages, containing only 3 different short stories with a WORLD of glaring mistakes. So many of them, I lost count. One can overlook a few, but it is hard to overlook where ‘World’ is swapped with ‘Word’ in a romantic sentence. It reflects severe lack of editing and attention.

In the preface, a score of people were thanked, who read these stories and encouraged the author to put them out there. I must say, they are not your friends. Not really. Because they never read it. Had as many people as you say, read this book, the errors would have been considerably less and much more inconspicuous.
And amongst these people, the ones who really hold you close, would also have told you that these stories are not good enough to be dished out to the masses. Not nearly so.

I understand the need to tell a story that is inside of you. It can nag and nag until you let it out and I understand that feeling because I too have a story. BUT, having a story is not the same as telling it. Because telling a story my dear author, is an ART. And like any other art-form, either you have it, or you don’t. From my perspective, you don’t.

There really isn’t anything to praise in this book as far as I am concerned.

Also, I sincerely hope your first name isn’t Jihan but I am almost certain it is!
Writing yourself in your own story and making the character seem a god sent is pompous and a huge no no for me personally.

The highway man

The highway man by J. Alchem is a collection of heart-warming three short stories namely
1- Catherine
2- Sidzy, for a day
3- The highway man
These stories are written in so beautiful way that makes you confuse whether to smile or cry. Nothing is beautiful than a book which can make you smile, cry, blush and even make you envy of the beautiful scenes created in the book.

The story Catherine revolves around a best-selling author Nicholas Sieum who has fallen in love and a physician Dr. Rusenvelt who has always dealt with extraordinary cases and the case of Nicholas Sieum was nothing less than extraordinary. The girl with whom he has fallen in love with was the female protagonist of his novels, Catherine. His father asked Dr. Rusenvelt to cure his son. In order to cure his illness, he ties up with a publisher and the publisher signs a contract with Nicholas for writing a crime thriller novel in some other town. The idea was to keep Nicholas away from memories of Catherine but what happens at the end of the novel will blow your mind. The twist in the end of the story is the main dish.

The second story is about a young couple who are irresistibly and passionately in love with each other and can do anything to make another smile. The story is set on the day dedicated to women's, international women's day. To make the day special for his wife, Sidzy he decides to play the role of his wife and doing everything for her to make her smile. He planned small - small surprises for her to show her love for her. He did everything to celebrate Sidzy's day and enlighten her day by showing the affection and respect he had for her. But his wife was not only the one who get surprises throughout the day.

The third story is about a 7-year-old kid Ayaan, his father Rohan and The highway man. Rohan lost his wife and his parents in a car accident and since that day his son lost his smile. He not even tried to get closer to him because he lost his will to love. One day when they were traveling towards Agra they meet a man on the highway who brings back the joy which was long lost from their lives. When Rohan started believing that Jihan was his savior something happens which was totally the turn of the events.

Review -

The book has the most amazing short story collection I've ever read.
Each story was portrayed in a beautiful way to make readers fall in love with the characters. The book has all the elements romance, hope, joy, sadness, sorrow, pain, inspiration, faith, and fiction in just a small book. The perfect narration style and the surprising elements keep the readers hooked up till the end. The cover is also one of the most beautiful and attracting one.

The best part about the author is that he considers his books as his babies and tries to present his writing in a totally unique way.

If you are looking for an amazing book then here this book is for you.

I have read this book twice-First edition and Revised edition (Revise edition has only two 'updated' stories) So, I am in dilemma whether my review should be based on three stories (First edition) or two stories (Revised edition).

Okay, writing it as revised one.

The book has two stories; Catherine and The Highway man.

Catherine is a story of a doctor who received a call from the father of a bestselling author Nicholas Sieum. The call is about the illusion the author had created around himself about his own book series. The doctor is asked to treat him, but the situation goes worse when the treatment created another kind of illusion for the author. I loved this story the most between the two.

What I loved in this story:
1. The climax has totally blown my mind.
2. Authors really do lots of hardwork for their books and this story clearly shows the pain they take.
3. The character of Dr. Rusenvelt. I loved it.
4. I am like 'I want to read the series written by the author Nicholas Sieum' but sadly it is all fictional.

The Highway Man is a story of a father and his son. They both are sad and broken because of a tragedy that shook them completely. One day while going to Agra, a strangers asks them lift and turns their life upside down for a better life. But this stranger too does hold a secret.

There are many reasons why I loved this story:

1. I loved the character of Ayan. He was so innocent. I felt his tears and pain while reading the book.
2. I loved the character of The Highway Man. I loved how he complimented everyone 'hey nice shoes' 'hey your smile is awesome' and helped them in discovering a new life. By just appreciating the things happening around, we can really make a better world. Isn't it? It really taught me a lot.
3. I loved the climax. It gave me tears. It is how you give back to society.
4. The message this story gives <3

Overall, it is a beautiful read. I would rate it 4.5 stars. Yes, recommended to all.

‘The Highway Man’ is a short read comprising three short stories out of which one is soon to become a short film. The stories are touching and mesmerizing. If I have to pick one of my favorites, I would say ‘Catherine’.

Catherine is a story of a bestselling author who fell in love with his own character of the book. I love the beauty with Alchem created the characters of the story. It’s truly mesmerizing and I not only loved the story but also the way he composed it and portrays the character of the bestselling author. The second story is ‘Sidzy; for a day’. The third and the final story in the book is ‘The Highway Man’.

Writing a short story is a tricky affair, you have to tell the tale in limited words with completeness. There must be a start and there must be an ending and that too in those limited words and readers should get a feeling that they have sailed an ocean in minutes.

It’s a quick read and best part is it gives a feeling of fulfillment in space of limited pages. I recommend it to all the readers who wants to read something worth their time and penny.

Review :

This book is a combination of three soul stirring short stories. Even the preface has a cute story to tell.

The first story is Catherine. In this story, the author narrates how a best selling author gets obsessed with his own fictional characters so that he starts living with them and also love them. The characters were very well portrayed and the climax was just unimaginable. It left a thought that can love be this obsess?

The next one is Sidzy; for a day. Can a man go to this extent to make his girl happy? Yes. Indeed. Jihan sets an example by making a memorable day for Sidzy and tries to live her day to make it memorable. And yes, I’m jealous of Sidzy for owning a man like jihan. And this story can make anyone fall for a man like Jihan and I’m no exception.

The last one is The Highway Man. This story is about the life of a little boy Ayaan and his father. After the death of Ayaan’s mom, they both live a life similar to hell. And unexpectedly, a stranger Jihan enters their life to make their life blossom again. Who is Jihan? Why should he do that? Read the book to find your answers.

My view :

I enjoyed reading the whole book and every stories imbibed my soul with multiple emotions. The author has penned down every story with utmost care and yes, his baby is so sweet and charming. The Highway Man story occupied a tight place in my heart and it almost brought tears. Even the dedication and acknowledgement is enough to prove the author’s success as he has shown his gratitude to everyone in his life. Each and every character has occupied its special place in my heart and I fell hard in love with Jihan and Sidzy. The author has summed up the whole emotions and feelings of life in three short stories. The quotes adorning every stories has added special beauty to the stories. And at the end of the book, I assure that all the readers will feel a sense of refreshment and relief. I completed the whole book in less than an hour and that reveals how much passion I had towards those stories and characters. Thanks for this wonderful short stories and the characters as they became a part of my life now. The cover of the book matches well with the book. Still I couldn’t find why the author decided to name the book with the title of the third story. But your babies never disappoint me.

A wonderful book which should never be missed. Grab it today and don’t regret later for missing it.

Before reviewing this book, I would first like to thank Sidra for recommending this book to me and also providing with a free copy. So thank you so much Sidra for introducing me with the book.
The Highway Man is a collection of 3 short stories, each coming from a different genre, carrying different array of emotions and exhibiting a different aspect of life.
The first story 'Catherine', is about a writer who is trapped in his own exuberant imagination and starts living that very illusion as his reality. It is kind of a thriller with a very very unexpected ending. This is very aptly placed as the first story in the book because it leaves you longing for more.
The second story 'Sidzy, for-a-day',is a very calming read about a couple madly in love with each other and how their emotions are manifested in their actions. The cute romance makes you blush time and again and fall in love with the 'love between Sidzy and Jihaan'.
The third and final story, 'The Highway Man', remarkably draws how a single event can shatter your entire life and how another event can 'unshatter' it. This story reminds us about how easily we cling to the past and forget about our responsibilities in the present. This last story managed to get tears rolling from my eyes.
The writing style was simple and brisk which only accentuated the beauty of the stories. But there were certain grammatical errors according to me, and also I felt the stories were a little too short (not because I could not connect with the characters, but because I wanted to live with them a little longer). Overall it was an amazing read, worth every minute spent on reading it. I would love to give it a 4/5 stars.

The Highway Man by J Alchem is a collection of 3 stories. They are:

1) Catherine 2) Sidzy for a day and 3) The highway man

Each story is beautiful and are the best ones I read in a long time.

Coming to the stories, Catherine is the story of a best selling Author who falls in love with the female protagonist of his novels, Catherine. His father approaches Dr. Rusevelt, a famous doctor to cure his son. The story revolves around the doctor’s efforts to cure the author who is also one of his favorites. Will he be able to cure him? Read the story to find out.

Sidzy for a day is the story of a married couple who are madly in love with each other. It is a very sweet story when on Women’s day, the husband, Jihan decides to make the day special for his wife by doing everything he can do for her. The day is spent reminiscing their love. It’s a very sweet story.

The Highway Man is the third story in the book. This is the story of a man who has lost his wife in a tragic accident. His wife’s death has affected him immensely and he is hardly able to give time to his son. One day, on the request if his son, they go to Agra to visit the Taj Mahal. On the way, a stranger asks them for a lift. Upon conversing with the stranger, they realize the meaning of life.

The writing is beautiful and simple. No heavy words are used. My most favorite story is Catherine. The stories are very meaningful. This book is good for a quick read. I only wish it had more stories.

Rating 4.5/5

“Dad, what if stars are just an illusion? A product of our imaginative mind? A pseudo-science phenomenon? An worn out story? A rotten belief?...Dad what if the sky is a floor in which God walks and through those star shaped holes keep a watch on us?... My 7 years old daughter, little Sidzy, said, lying beside me on the grass, facing the sky with closed eyes as she poured her heart out to me. All I remembered was the quote from Albert Einstein.
“The true intelligence is not knowledge, but imagination.””

With such a beautiful and thought provoking preface we start the journey of renowned author J. Alchem’s bestseller book “The Highway Man”, it is a short story collection consisted of three short stories.

Summary:- The whole world is upside down. People are walking in the sky with the ground moving above their heads. And the reason is simple; a bestselling author is in love. But why the whole world is inverted? What's so special about this love? Or worse?

A man throws his masculine brain and heart aside and fixes a feminine one there. And the reason is simple; he wants to live the life of his lover, for 24 hours. But why does he want to do that? What's the need?

A man, neatly dressed in a suit, is playing with his bowler hat, on a highway at dawn. And the reason is simple; he needs a lift. But why does he need a lift? What's his purpose?

My thoughts:- I had heard about this book from my friends so when I saw the chance to review it I grabbed it at the given chance. And to tell the truth it wasn’t a bad decision.
The three stories the book contain are 1. Catherine 2. Sidzey; for a day and the namesake of the book title 3.The Highway Man .

In the “Catherine” the story opens in the chamber of a psychologist who gets to treat his favourite romance author who is a patient of a delusion. ***Slight Spoiler Alert*** The author Nicholas Sieum has fallen in love with the fictional heroine of his own romance series. And the doctor tries his best to treat him. The author is obsessed to the extent that he writes love letters to his ladylove and lives the life of Catherine himself.

The second story “Sidzy; for a day” presents life of a young couple Jihan and Sidzy celebrating International Women’s Day. The loving husband Jihan wants to help his wife Sidzy by doing all the household works and taking her to a date. He becomes Sidzy for a day.The story represents the love and conjugal life of two in a very romantic way.

“The Highway Man” is the last story and my favourite of all the three. Jihan lives with seven years old son Ayaan after the death of his wife and parents in a bizarre accident on the way Delhi-Agra. The grief-stricken family of two sets on a journey to visit Taj Mahal.

On the way he meets a mysterious man who keeps asking personal questions and cracking jokes that makes both father and son smile after a long time. They feel relieved.
The last story has a fine moral to it.
“Life is not missing what is gone but to counting and cherishing what you have…!!”

This story has a nice twist in the end that will make your eyes go round.

The author’s writing style is very fluent, easy going and frequently thought provoking. Plots are good too however a little clichéd. The stories have various themes. But one theme is predominant in all three stories, love and live life to the fullest.

And I just loved the Preface. The way he has presented his literary works as his children it is amazing. And the Bengali words, “Ami Sotti Bolchi” when you hear Bengali from a non-native speaker it is really too sweet. Last but not the least a very beautiful cover.

Drawbacks and Ratings:- However there is a slight drawback I found in the second story. The romantic conversation between the couple Jihan and Sidzy seemed a bit too cheesy. And in the first story I had expected a bit more suspense to treat the illness, it had enough possibility to take a turn towards a mystery. Otherwise the book is fine. I will recommend it to all.
4 stars is the rating.

Thanksgiving:- Thanks to the author J Alchem for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

There are many books which I have read twice but “The HighWay Man” by J Alchem is the first book that I read twice in one go. The book contains three wonderful stories and trust me you won’t want any story to end. From the first word of the book to the last one each word will just touch deep inside your heart. Yes, I mean from dedication itself. Apart from author’s inspiration in life he dedicated this book to all the broken people out here. Never ever, any such acknowledgement has touched my heart but even his acknowledgement was such that I read it twice. I guess you can know the intense feeling present in acknowledgement which made me read it twice.

The first story is about the bestseller author Nicholas Sieum who has written super amazing romantic series. Dr. Rusenvelt, a 62 years old physician is a huge fan of Nicholas Sieum. The turning point comes when the doctor receives a call from Nicholas Sieum father. After meeting doctor comes to know that the author is in love but with his book character Catherine. Nicholas love for Catherine is so deep that it has actually turned to a disease and the cure done by doctor was something else than expected.

The second story is of Jihaan and Sidzy. I know this story will be loved by everyone who reads this book. If ever you ask a girl what type of guy she wants to marry ? The description will just like Jihaan character. Even the dream of getting married to a man like Jihaan was making me feel like being of heaven.

Last but not the least, the third story made me cry a lot. By, ‘A lot’ I literally mean a lot. If I wouldn’t have reading an e-book, I would have hugged the book and shed my tears. The story is about a father and his son Ayaan. Ayaan who usually used to hide her tears after her mother died in an accident; laughed a lot when one day he was going to Agra with his father and met a man on Highway who asked for a lift from them. And the journey along with #KuchBhi just made me laugh a lot. But after few days, Ayaan came to his father crying holding a newspaper. The Highway man actually changed their life. The language of the book is quite simple and easy to understand. The book is simply outstanding. J Alchem, I loved your baby. Your baby is a shining star among other star. It is surely an emotional read but an inspirational too. I would recommend this book to every person reading this review. Do read this book and I am sure you will come back and thank me for this recommendation.

Once in a while we all come across a book or a story in some magazine or newspaper that perfectly cures our reading appetite. The Highway Man by J Alchem is one such collection of three stories which are linked with each other in some ways but not directly -- the way R. K. Narayan's stories used to be connected with each other.

Like most books, The Highway Man begins with an Acknowledgement, which you ought to read. I repeat, do not leaf through the Acknowledge and Preface, they are not to be left unread if you get a chance to read this book. You can thank me later.

The author has got imagination of Rushdie and writing skill of Bhagat. Which makes the book very pleasant to read. All the three stories are beautiful and conclude with surprises.

The only negative point of the book is that it has got several grammatical errors, which disappoint.

Overall, The Highway Man is a winner, a good read, and a real page turner.

The Highway Man is my latest short story (revised) collection. It has only two stories namely Catherine and The Highway Man. The book is available on Amazon kindle worldwide. No paperback this time (author is on 'paper conserve' mode).

"Catherine" is a story of a Bestselling Author Nicholas Sieum who has a strange love story that would blow your mind. This story shows the hard work and dedication an author puts to create his book that he forgets he has a real life, too, to live.

"The Highway Man" is a story of a strange man who asks lift on an highway to strangers and then intrude in their life. It is an inspirational heart touching story that shows how a stranger can teach us the lessons we need. This story is under a contract to be a short film shortly.

Hope you love both the stories as much as I loved writing them.

This book has 3 different stories but plot remains the same of love. Each stories different from the other. My favourite is the first one. The first story is about a guy who works on improving emotional quotient of people discussing his difficult case. The second story is what happens when a role reversal take place and third is what happens when someone's life is cut short.

The best part of the book is you have a connect with the book. The stories doesn't sound too illogical, we can think of it happening and the author using such simple stories and language can also be a plus point.

The negative of the book that it's only 3 stories. Wants more :-(

Overall a very nice read.

"Dad, what if the stars are just a few star shaped perfect holes in the sky? Holes that bring light from the eternal God to us in the darkest night? Holes that take our prayers to God and His response to us? Holes that pour hope in us when we have given up all our courage?"

'The Highway Man' is a short story compilation with three stories depicting love in varied forms . The first one is about love in the form of obsession .The second story embellishes love by expression . The third one treats love as a lost and found treasure .

The narration was gripping , simple ,emotion - capturing . I loved the preface the most . Overall it's a short and light read which leaves you with happy feelings lingering in your mind !

Thanks for giving me this book .

(Note: I received a copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review. Thanks to author and publisher. I am glad I got a chance to read this book.)

First of all I loved acknowledgement, until I read author started to thank everyone, I felt like I was reading a story already. It was best acknowledgement I’ve read till now.

Catherine– The story about best-selling author, Nicholas Sieum, who has worked years on his romance novel, and starts living in his fictional world, falls in love with his protagonist, Catherine, and lose the ability to return to reality. This can be a total nightmare for author. This was very thrilling psychological story I was so engrossed in this story, I never wanted it to end. This was the best story in the book. It felt like lighter and shorter version of Jacob M. Appel’s psychological thriller.

Sidzy; for a day– This was very romantic story. Jihan, a husband celebrate a Women’s Day as ‘Sidzy (his wife) Day’. For one day he lives his wife’s life, did all chores his wife was doing every day and realizes how much his wife has done for him, and how difficult it is to be a woman. He makes his wife’s day with gifts and surprises and at the end he too gets surprise. I know it lead to think something terrible might happen at this point right? I also thought some shocking twist will come which kept me going. But no it’s very simple and sweet romantic story of husband and wife and their passionate love for each other. It was okay story, you find such kind of story happening in everyone’s life. But it reminds you of best person in your life. And gave a reaction like Sshhooooo Shhwweeet! 😉

Highway Man– Rohan, who has lost his wife in car accident is mourning, he doesn’t know how to live or how to be strong for his son, Ayaan who also has lost smile on his face. A strange man asked for lift on highway when father and son was traveling. This unknown person makes them smile and brings life back into their lives. I loved the message behind this story. It was so beautiful. How smile or simple hello and compliment are can make someone’s day. And this story made my day. This was very touching story and reminds us that life is beautiful even though you have lost the person who made the life beautiful. Loved this one.

All 3 stories felt real. Every stories had something to tell to readers. Loved the narration in stories. They made me to think for a while after reading them. Not even in single story I felt there should me more in the story or smoothing was missing. All the emotions were captured in very few pages of this book.

Why 4? The only thing I didn’t like was blurb of this book. It made it look like a thriller stories but it’s not. Only the first one I will mark as a thriller. So, when I started reading stories it was not what I expected. So, if reader go by blurb they are more likely to be disappointed by book. Otherwise, all stories are really nice and I enjoyed reading them. If I have gone for this book blindly I would have given it 4.5 or 5 stars.

Overall, this was very quick read best break read. I would like to read more from this author.

The Highway Man: J. Alchem
I was on my usual online spree of browsing through books and I stumbled across ‘The Highway Man’. It is a collection of three short stories, written in a beautiful flow of language which makes you glide through the book and then read it again. The three stories are Catherine, Sidzy; for a day and The Highway Man. So without further ado, let us dive a little into the world of J. Alchem.
Catherine:
When the lines between fiction and reality are blurred for a romantic author, his doctor must apply all his energy to re-introduce him to reality. Catherine starts off like the usual story of a doctor, who treats people with mental illnesses and is good at it. His world is turned upside down when he has to treat his favourite author, who has lost himself in his work. The story makes your hair stand on edge with the way it ends, a feat unachievable by many works of fiction. You are caught as off-guard as the doctor is and this is what makes you one with the narrative.
Sidzy; for a day:
Love makes the world go round and this story portrays exactly that. Sidzy and Jihan are a married couple spending their life engulfed in their own little bubble of joy. On the occasion of Woman’s day, Jihan decides to be his wife for a day and do her chores to make her day memorable. The story is crafted in a visual manner and leaves a smile on your face, as you are flooded by some memories of your own better halves. You can feel and visualize Sidzy and Jihan’s love and lose yourself in their happy bubble.
The Highway Man:
An estranged single father and his son are lost in their own abyss of darkness and gloom, till the fateful day when they decide to pay a visit to Agra, where they lost the woman who held them together. The highway man, they quote him in the newspaper Rohan (the father) finds. He changes their life when he hitches a ride from them on the highway to Agra. His jokes and his philosophy of living life, even after losing people who they love the most, brings the father and son closer like never before. However, fate is not done throwing curve balls at their life. The story depicts the pain and suffering of the father-son duo remarkably, in contrast with the goofy nature of the stranger. This story is the last master stroke in the penmanship of this book.
Love and its multiple facets are spread throughout the book and is the base concept in it. It is an easy read and I finished it in one sitting.

Thanks to the author for sending this book as a gift.Well this is a kindle book made up of three stories. The first one is very interesting and humorous. The second one seems a bit boring as it was not a fantasy. The third one is the best of all.Though you could guess the end,the story keeps you interested.I really liked the book except for some boring parts in the second story.I will go for a four star rating.

THE PLOT IN BRIEF-

The whole world is upside down.

THE TITLE-

Indeed The Highway Man is a very interesting and appropriate title for the book. It vividly gives you the glimpse that Life is like a drive on highway. There will always be someone behind, along and ahead of you. No matter how many people you overtake, life will always serve you with a new challenge, a new commuter driving ahead of you. Destination is the same for everyone, but what matters at the end is - how much you enjoy the drive! All the three stories are so beautifully penned down that I felt some beautiful paths can't be discovered without getting lost. Life is filled with unanswered questions, but it is the courage to seek those answers that continues to give meaning to life. You can spend your life wallowing in despair, wondering why you were the one who was led towards the road strewn with pain, or you can be grateful that you are strong enough to survive it. The title itself gives us a hint that Someday this upside-down world will be turned right side up. Nothing in all eternity will turn it back again. If we are wise, we will use our brief lives on earth positioning ourselves for the turn.

REVIEW OF THE BOOK-

The story Catherine is a very beautiful amalgamation of psychology and thriller. After reading the story I’ve always been suspicious of the assumption that great intelligence would be an unqualified benefit— that the madness that so often accompanies it can be cavalierly dismissed. So I always kept on asking the question in my mind : Suppose there were an entire subpopulation of extreme geniuses, well beyond anything that would occur naturally. What would that really look like? The protagonist believed not in divine salvation but in the proposition that we poor mortals are fully capable of saving ourselves, if conditions and inclinations are right, and the evidence of this potential is found in the smallest of gestures, like the uncertain resting of a large hand on a bony shoulder.
The second story is plotted amalgamating love and women empowerment. The story reveals if you have feelings for someone, let them know. It doesn’t matter if they can be in your life or not. Maybe, it is just enough for both of you to release the truth, so healing can occur. The opposite is true, as well. If you don’t have feelings for someone then never let another person suggest that you do. Protect your reputation and be responsible for the wrong information spread about you. Never allow anyone to live with a false belief or unfounded hope about you. An honourable person sets the record straight, so that person can move on with their life. Watching my parents I've learnt a lesson many do not recognise. True love is not signalled by romantic, candle light dinners, red roses glistening with dew, or even Valentine's day celebrations. While these things may accompany our feelings, love is truly more than all those! Love is being with your spouse even when its not pleasing. Sometimes, love is walking down the hall, with your spouse hanging onto your shoulders and walking at a turtle's pace down the hall, just because surgery made life a burden. Love is patient, love is kind, and love is LOVE! May we always remember love is not always tied in bows!
The third story is an amalgamation of silence with love and motivation. Have you ever heard the wonderful silence just before the dawn? Or the quiet and calm environment just as a storm ends? Or perhaps you know the silence when you haven't the answer to a question you've been asked, or the hush of a country road at night, or the expectant pause of a room full of people when someone is just about to speak, or, most beautiful of all, the moment after the door closes and you're alone in the whole house? Each one is different, you know, and all very beautiful if you listen carefully.
Here the highway man comes to play.

To find out what happens you need to order the book from

YOU SHOULD READ THIS BECAUSE-

1. THE BEAUTIFULLY AMALGAMATED PLOT

2. THE MOTIVATIONAL MEESSAGE LEFT AFTER EVERY STORY.

RATINGS-

Overall I would like to rate the book 46 on a scale of 50.
5 stars out of 5
1. Originality of the plot and sub plots- 9/10
2. Net emotions in the story- 9/10
3. Usage of words and phrases-9/10
4. The title, cover and the illustration-10/10
5. The net impact on the readers- 9/10

Life is truly a matter of choices, reactions, and actions. Each and every choice is governed by our reactions which in turn affect our actions and consequently the future turn of events

I always like reading short stories, as simple it may seem, it of course is a much tedious process. This book has three short stories and can be finished in 2 hours.

The stories have two themes in common, Isolation and Loneliness. The first story is about a writer who dedicates his life to one romantic novel and how he ends up getting attached to one character confused between real and imagination.

The second story is about a couple celebrating women's day, the husband pampers the wife through out the day, the ending again leaves you wondering.

The third story is very sweet about a family dealing with loss and grief and how one day road trip and one stranger changed everything.

I am impressed with the imagination of the author, as all the stories have unique endings which will leave you wanting more, the narrative is simple and is not overstretched.

Amazingly well written preface and acknowledgement, the metaphors he used are impressive.
The book is emotional and also kinda dark and twisted in its own way, for me I wanted to read more of each story.

The author starts the story with a vision but the end just didn't do justice, which the stories.
Also the writing was a bit too simple for my taste.
Rest ill surely recommend this book as it has some unique stories and the theme is maintained.

Being a short story I am sure you will enjoy it like I did.

Happy Reading!!!

Basically this book is a collection of three short but amazing stories. I like the first one, second one is sort of manual for me which I have to follow after my marriage and I'm still unable to divert my mind from the third story!

The plot of the first and third story is quite similar & interesting (someone please stop me from writing the spoiler) as everyone gonna appreciate the melancholy, coupled with the "twist" but everything stops abruptly.

Then why only three stars, huh?

Well, I think the story can be extended little long and the role of actors hasn't been assigned properly. The way author suddenly stopped those stories is what really disappointed me, it left the whole scenario incomplete & undigested.

So would you recommend it to me...?
A BIG yes...!

Have you ever craved for deep, heart touching tales which mesmerize you?? 'The Highway Man's is one such fine book.
A collection of three wonderfully woven stories, this book is bound to move you.
The first story "Catherine" deals with a best-selling author falling insanely in love with the protagonist of his novels. How he's taken out from his obsession and review is a treat for readers.
The second one, "Sidzy" is about a couple, head over heals in love with each other, and how the man surprises his wife on international women's day.
The last but not the least "The Highway Man" is a beautiful tale of a father and son whose lives have turned dark after the death of the man's wife. They meet a "highway man" looking for lift who brings about a drastic transformation in their lives!
I am astonished by the author's thinking skills and thought process. The book turned out to be way more profound and insightful than I had expected. The stories are amazing and I can't emphasize enough how much I enjoyed reading them. They entice the readers so strongly by their precise and beautiful narration, lovely storyline, and captivating emotions.
The pain, love, hope, despair, anxiety, obsession and all other feelings depicted are truly remarkable! I went through a roller coaster ride of emotions while reading the book and definitely it's the most unique, awe-inspiring book I laid my hands upon!
I strongly recommend it to all the readers out there!

Book is a short read, having three short stories; Catherine, Sidzy, and The Highway Man.

Catherine is a story of a Bestselling Author who falls in love with a mystical character and completely lost himself in her. This story shows how extent an author goes to create the characters of his books that he forgets he has a real life too, to live.
It is just a marvelous attempt. Loved every bit of it.

Sidzy is a story of Jihan who decides to live a day, being the girl he loves, to make her day. This story is all about the attempts he makes to make his girl feel that she is his world. This story is an example of how deep and out of the Box a lover can go. I just fell in love with Jihan and Sidzy. Indeed, a soul mate kind story.

The Highway Man is a story of a mystical person who meets people on an highway, asks lifts to unknown people crossing the road and then turns their life upside down. I just loved this #KuchBhi Man. So much inspiration and selfless love in a story.

overall, the Book is just just just awesome. I loved it completely. Now, waiting for the movie made on The Highway Man.

The highway man is a compilation of three stories, that can stir your soul and will make you travel across worlds with the varied genres. Narration is appreciable and the characters of stories come alive as one flip through the pages.
The book starts with 'Catherine' ie a pscho-thriller and has unexpected turns. I was in a hangover after reading this one. 'Sidzy;for a day' is a cute romantic story of a couple; that is embeded with romantic acts and involves many emotions. A story of Sidzy and Jihan; which suggests an innovative way of celebrating womanhood.
Finally, 'The highway man' offers a life lesson. Let go of grief and make space for new happenings. This story is about a sudden occurance of an event in life of Ahaan and Rohan that changes their life and pulled the grief out of their life. It gives a lesson that a few changes are to be welcomed and accepted with open arms!
I will look forward to read more from author's pen!

Excellent

Hii, being a writer by soul i am very much choosy in selecting books to touch my nerves. Reading your short stories was like intriguing my senses in every dimension. Moments when Nicholas became Catherine, when sidzy and jihan lived each other and when the highway man (i think he was still sidzy's husband) put smile on my face too with his #kuch bhi jokes was awesome. Keep it up. I am also writing a book for Amazon these days and you literally has become my inspiration today. Thank you

Book : The Highway Man

Author : J Alchem

This book contains a collection of three small stories. The book is dedicated to Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, Aamir Khan & all the broken people.
The writer has started the story with the delivery of the baby to whom he hides it from the world &
When he tells his babies that he is going to introduce them to this world, they were frightened as they have never seen anyone. I was actually imagining the babies holding legs & shying as explained by J. Hence he introducef them to the world & helped them believe that the world is not so cruel but nice souls are also there.
Let me take you through the best three stories.
The first story is all about the author Nicholas seium, the best selling author of romantic series.
His Dad Mr. Nicholas Will is worried for his son ,so he calls up Dr. Rusenvelt , a 62 year physician, who has almost treated all the types of unusual cases, be it depression, suicidal tendencies or phobias. He asks for a treatment from Dr. For his son. Doctor visits them & he comes to know that seium is madly in love with his fictional character Catherine, the fictional heroine of the series. He falls in his love so much that has made a room for her that is entirely filled up with the things he used to mention in his books. He even wrote beautiful letters for her too. Seeing this, Dr. Tries to find the cure as He had to be taken to a place that was away from thoughts of Catherine. He would have to be kept away from his writing for sometime. Hence Dr. Requests his friend a publisher to sign a contract with Nicholas that would include a murder mystery & at a different place. It took around 8 months for this treatment.
After 6 months, Nicholas Will again called Dr. Not to thank him but to meet him again, when Dr reached to their place, he finds that the room made for Catherine was changed with posters & belongings for Seium!
what next ??

Next story is about Jihan & Sidzy!!
The love couple! It was women's day when Jihan plans to make the day special for Sidzy. He manages all the things in best possible way. Starting with doing household chores, he manages to make gift cards for her, washing utensils, clothes, making breakfast, cleaning floor & even her bed tea with a sweet message. Seeing all this she was so happy that she kissed him & kept saying I love you, Jihan also cooks her parval ki sabji her favourite, buys a best dress, takes for a movie , dances on a road, takes her home where he had all decorations made to make her much happy saying "Happy Sidzy- Jihan day"
Having dinner Jihan makes her sleep & finds a book in which she has kept a letter !! what was in the letter ???

The last & final story is about A Highway Man.
This story is about a father & a son Ayaan, a 6 year old kid, who lost her mother Sunaina in a accident. His father is not able to make an eye contact with him after the death of his mother. Ayan misses her mother a lot & always keeps crying & he had asked his father to take him to Agra to feel his mom's presence. Finally they are on the way to Agra. Sitting in the car, Ayan keeps watching the trees , without talking to his dad. Suddenly they find a man on the highway asking for a lift, they give him a lift ,where he manages to make Ayan smile in the best possible way & soon becomes friends with Ayan. His name is Jihan Zahir. He makes his kuch bhi jokes on the way & makes both of them smile. He also shares an incident from his life where his wife was pregnant and she met with a accident & died on the spot, but there were no tears in his eyes instead he says everyone has to go one fine day!! Life goes on.
They become so familiar to each other as if they are family. Ayan insisted him to take to Agra & Jihan kept commenting people & making them smile. On the way back home, Ayan & Rohan (father ) both were happy & now Rohan was happy that he finds his son back. One fine morning when Ayan seems to be crying holding the newspaper.
what happened to Ayan ??

Reviews for the book :

The author has written short stories with full description & hooked the readers to read it till the end.
This book can be completed in not less than an hour.
The plot was well placed , the charactes were amazing.
While reading this book, the second story of Jihan & sidzy the entire scenes were going live in back of my mind.
The highway man story led me to see Ayaan smiling & Mr. Jihan's image with a bowler hat & way of cracking jokes.
The book is amazing & must read for all those who want them to be happy & fall in love all over again.
Extraordinary & unusual stories.

,

The highwayman:-

Another marvelous work was done by our favorite author, Mr. J Alchem. This book consists of three short stories; each and every story is mind blowing. For my opinion, a movie should be made taking all these stories.
The first one is the life of an Author Mr. Nicolas Sieum. He is a famous author in the book, having five best seller novel. He has a writing career of 15 years, most of his work based on love stories and people crazy about his work. Things are going on normal and he falls in love with his imaginary protagonist of his novel Catherine. His father realizes it and consults to a doctor, as per the doctor treatment going well. He now wrote a different genre and that also goes best seller. Even film is going to make on his work, one day Nicholas called the doc to visit him nad cut the call. The doctor came and what he sees his sight became upside down. What strange happens there go through story even your jaws open for some minutes.

Second one: Sidzy for a day

The story begins with two love birds, Jihan and Sidzy. We all know a woman is a wonderful creature made by god for us, to take care of us. She is the one who has dedicated her life to us, whatever we do for them is still less. What if we take a day off from our regular work schedule and make her day special. Feels her special for the day like a princess of a kingdom. I know we can't fulfill all are dreams but what if we just do a little attempt to make her happy. In this story, Jihan takes a day and feel special to his wife Sidzy. Whatever he did in the story every woman wants that from her husband for a single day. Nicely describe the emotion of two soul mate here. When both loved each other then heaven came to their feet. I loved the story

Third one:-

Last but not least and the most touchy story of the book. It's based on a man life and after his wife death, he shattered into pieces. He has a seven-year son Ayaan. He spent most of the time just to engage him in work and forgot to think about his wife. In this session, he was gone far away from his son. Both have less talk and even when last time they happily spend some hour he also forgets that. After several months of the request, he agrees to take his son to see Agra Tajmahal. Ayaan wants to see because his mother last time spend there and he wants to feel her there. They are on the highway and all of sudden a stranger asked them for lift. They gave him lift but can't get thanks from his side. Hours of talk they came to know some bitter truth of his life. Sometimes the truth is too poisonous that we can't tolerate it and tears rolled down from our eyes without taking our permission. The highwayman has no one but still, he is happy and helps others. To know more about him and what changes bring in Ayaan and his father life keep read the story.

Again I thankful to the author to share some new and some motivational story with us. Keep writing and keep spreading the happiness around the world. I personally request all to grab the copy, reading worth it.
