Although she broke his heart, Hailey is still the only woman he’s ever loved. Now that she’s back and looking as desirable as ever, Spencer is determined to get a second chance.

What Kindle Reviewers write about her:

"Wow hot at every page. Heart stoping, fear raging, mind blowing wonderful."

"I'm a true fan of Ms. Cardello. I ran on to her first book a few years back and have been hooked ever since. I could go on and on about the story like of this book, but I'm not. All of her books are total page turners, unique, heart wrenching, and I love them all. There isn't two alike in the bunch and I feel like i know the characters personally. I personally read 97 authors books. And I buy every book they put out. This author is in my top 10. Great job and keep them coming."

"Love this series. Got me to start reading again. I look forward to the next book. Thank you for giving me the love of reading back."

Ruth Cardello was born the youngest of 11 children in a small city in northern Rhode Island. She spent her young adult years moving as far away as she could from her large extended family. She lived in Boston, Paris, Orlando, New York--then came full circle and moved back to New England. She now happily lives one town over from the one she was born in. For her, family trumped the warmer weather and international scene.

She was an educator for 20 years, the last 11 as a kindergarten teacher. When her school district began cutting jobs, Ruth turned a serious eye toward her second love- writing and has never been happier. This really was a great romance! After finishing the previous book from this series, I couldn't wait to find out more of Spencer's story. This really is a series that needs to be read in order since the plot surrounding the family starts in the first book. I had a great time listening to this story.

Spencer was one of the focal points of the previous book which left him at a very low point in his life. I couldn't wait to find out how he was doing and hopefully watch him deal with some pretty big issues. Hailey has also been through a lot. She lost her father years ago and just recently lost her brother. She is now the guardian of her niece, Sky, and has to make that the priority in her life.

Hailey takes a job as Delinda Westerly's personal assistant and her and Sky move into the guest house at her home. She has no idea that her employer is in any way related to her old boyfriend, Spencer. Of course, their paths cross and they end up spending some time with each other and quickly find out that their attraction to each other is just as strong as it ever was.

I had a great time watching Hailey and Spencer fall in love all over again. I also enjoyed getting to know Delinda Westerly a lot better and found that the relationships between Delinda, Sky, and Hailey were very well done. I thought that Spencer's relationship problems with his family were dealt with very well in this book. Spencer grew a lot as a character by the end of this story.

Terri Clark Linden continued to do a great job with this series. Her voices for the various characters in this series are very well done. In this book, there was a lot of dialogue from Delinda, an elderly character, and Sky, a young child, and I thought she represented all of the characters very well. I can't wait to listen to more of this series.

I would recommend this series to fans of contemporary romance. There is a lot of depth to the relationships within this story and a romance that melted my heart. I can't wait to read more about the Westerly family.

Initial Thoughts
This was another great story in the series. Spencer and Hailey were both great but Sky and Delinda often stole the show. This was a nice second chance romance and I found that I really enjoyed the continuation of the drama around Spencer from the first book.

3.75 Meddling Grandma Stars

Up for Heir is book 2 in the Westerly Billionaire series by Ruth Cardillo. It is about Spencer Westerly, the tech billionaire. Although I didn’t read book 1 in the series, the author did a terrific job recapping most of what happened in the previous book, and I didn’t feel lost at all.

Spencer Westerly is miserable and lonely. After finding out the truth about his family, nothing will ever be the same. He is drinking and using women to try to get over the hurt and betrayal. Meanwhile, his Grandmother, Delinda is hatching a plan of her own to try to find Spencer’s college girlfriend, Hailey, in order to get Spencer back into the family fold.

Hailey Triverton is the newly appointed guardian of her niece and is determined to do right by her. When she loses her job and her apartment, she finds herself accepting a new job from a rich old lady who needs companionship. So when Delinda asks Hailey to pick up a package for her downtown, Hailey didn’t think twice about it. Until she runs into the boy who broke her heart, Spencer Westerly.

I enjoyed this quick, second chance romance. The only minor problem I had was with Hailey and reading her inner thoughts, especially when she had to make a decision, big or small. It was a little OTT, and at times, was slightly exhausting. I did like Spencer and his character’s growth, from being a jerk to man in love. The side characters were very likeable, especially Delinda, and it looks like she is not done meddling into her grandchildren’s lives. I wonder who will be next.

I received a copy of this book via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.

Ruth Cardello was one of my most favourite author when I just started exploring the new books and genres 4-5 years back. Back then I think I didn't have much experience of enthralling plots and storyline that's why didn't expect much from the authors as well.

But now when I'm reading her book again after almost 5 years I think I'm rather disappointed.
Coz I always had her in highest regards in terms of her stories.

No doubt the story was entertaining. I liked both the characters as well. They were mature and knew what they wanted.
I also liked the side characters (okay some of them).
The thing I really DIDN'T like is the overwhelming feel the 'family' all of a sudden gave me.

I mean first, the book is short which didn't give the story enough time to open up.
The whole idea of 'Delinda recognising the way of showing love' was indeed good.
The first 150 pages were going normally but then all of a sudden the whole estranged family got together under one roof and without any heads up or indication they were all happy and normal... I mean dude you've been ignoring each other for atleast 15 freaking years!!! It shouldn't have been that easy!!

Up for Heir by Ruth Cardello is Book 2 in the "Westerly Billionaire" Series. This is the story of Spencer Westerly and Hailey Tiverton. I have read the previous book and feel that you can make this a standalone book.
This is a second chance at love story where Spencer and Hailey met before but his drive to start his business and other things seem to pull them apart. Now Spencer is very successful business wise but emotionally not so much. There have been family secrets that have hurt him and his has turned to drink and lots of women. But his Grandmother, Delinda has set things in motion to find Hailey and hopefully move them forward, Hailey has lost her job and apartment and in addition is the guardian of her niece. But then, Delinda comes forward asking her to take a job as her companion. Which leads Hailey back into Spencer's site.
I enjoyed watching these two get past their issues and come together.

The Westerly matriarch, Dalinda, is still trying to reunite the family by meddling in their love lives. Following the drama in book one, she has set her sights on Spencer in the hopes of healing the wound she caused him. It seems Spencer has only really loved one girl, Hailey, someone he broke up with back in college. Dalinda hires Hailey and sets in motion a plan to bring Spencer and Hailey back together without them knowing.

I liked this book better than the first. Hailey's character is very down to earth. She's had a lot of heartache in her life but hasn't let it destroy her positive spirit. I also liked that even though she wants to get together with Spencer, she always puts the needs of her niece (who she has custody of) first. I also loved how her character transforms Spencer's character from a workaholic jerk to someone who can laugh again. It was a cute story. Smut factor - well, there is one steamy hot scene and a lot of tension, but that's about it. I'll give it a 3 out of 5.

This is the second book of the series but my first. It would have been more enjoyable to have read them in order. There is a lot of family back-story that I only got glimpses of in this story and I felt the missing information.

Hailey Tiverton is still reeling from all the loss in her life, most recently her brother and sister in law in a car accident one year ago, leaving her custody of her 7 year old niece, Skye. She’s barely holding it together when she loses her job. After multiple job interviews with no results, she suddenly discovers a job circled in a newspaper next to her.

Spencer Westerly is a tech millionaire. He and his long time best friend, Jordan, own a successful business together. Spencer spends daylight hours working hard and his nighttime hours partying and being a manwhore. No attachments.

LOTS of family drama. This is where it would have been good to read them in order. Secrets, hidden agendas, sibling rivalry, loads of misunderstandings among the Westerly family. Hailey and Skye unknowingly get sucked into it all. Spencer and Hailey were college sweethearts/lovers torn apart because they were too young to deal with everything thrown at them at the time. Spencer’s Grandmother’s scheming brings Hailey back into Spencer’s life. Lies of omission between all the family members and between Hailey and Spencer.

Spencer hasn’t been around kids. Yet with one short scene with Skye, he knows he can be the father figure in her life. Hailey, for as protective as she is with Skye, was too easily accepting of this.

I really liked Jordan. He seemed to be the only one with everyone’s best interest at heart and he didn’t cut Spencer any slack, called him on his crap.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC provided by NetGalley and the publisher.

Up for Heir is the second book in the Westerly Billionaire series and it's time to learn more about the siblings that grew up with their mother. Eric the middle brother is still absent and at this point, I am starting to wonder why that's happening. His book better be full of good stuff and revelations because we are two books into the series and so far he is only mentioned! We got to see the sisters who are still not on my good side, so why not Eric? What's up with him? I bet his book will be the last. I wonder if one of the sisters (the fun one probably) will end up with Jordan, Spencer's friend. He was the best guy in this book, maybe only after Brett. Spencer never managed to win me over because of the things he said about the women in his past when he compared them to Hailey. He never made me feel as if he regretted saying those things and I wasn't very happy with him. Hailey for the past year has focused on making her niece feel better and tried everything in her power to protect her. I think she suffocated Skye a little, but she tried and I am giving her points for that. She is mostly a good person, if not a little mouthy. The book has 234 pages and Spencer say Skye only once. He is basically going to be a father to a child that he only saw one time. Isn't that a little weird? We got a first-row seat in the family drama, but Spencer barely knew about Skye. I am not happy with that and it really bothered me. Truth to be told, I wasn't very happy with this book.

Erbe auf den zweiten Blick
Die Westerly Milliardäre, Band 2
von Ruth Cardello
Amazon Publishing Deutschland
Cover:
Anknüpfend an den ersten Band
Rezension:

*I won this through a Goodreads giveaway*

First off, I wish I had read the first one. I thought this was somehow a standalone series but I guess it wasn't...? I felt off a little bit reading this book but if you read the first one before this one, then you'll be great and really enjoy this book!

That being said, this book is full of secrets, family drama, and so much more. This book is not boring at all! I was always reading, wanting to know what was going to happen next. What else would come to light in this den of secrets and drama?

Delinda is freaking awesome! My favorite character in the whole story. I didn't like how our two leads interacted... I thought there was going to be.... well more. That's my biggest gripe with this story. Besides that, I loved it. It's got everything I love and the writing is also nice. Totally start this series ASAP! You won't regret it!

Fun, easy second chance romance following Spencer Westerly and Hailey Tiverton, childhood sweethearts and best friends who split up during college due to immaturity and a lack of communication. Whilst Spencer became a self made millionaire who doesn't need his family's wealth, Hailey struggled through the loss of all her family and becomes the sole guardian of her beautiful niece, Skye. Add into the mix an interfering grandmother only wanting the best for her grandson and there's trouble a brewing! Told in mainly dual POV with a few others in the mix, some wonderful supporting characters, Delinda, Skye and Michael to name but a few. I loved the relationships within Delinda’s household and Skye and Delinda together just made my heart melt. The chemistry and relationship between Spencer and Hailey, although palpable, romantic and sexy was not the deal breaker for me in this book. Skye and Delinda sealed the deal for me. Cute and emotional rolled into one, a wonderful read. I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Enjoyable sequel!

I liked this book even better than the first.

A book about family, both created and by blood. Second chance romance. Trying to right a wrong. Love of a child and making them a priority. Parents and grandparents do not always get things right. Relationships are hard, no matter blood or not.

There are a few steamy parts, so reader beware.

This is a newer author for me and I like what I have read so far!

Up in the Heir definitely pulled me in quicker than the previous book, but I believe it’s due to having already been made aware of the family dynamic and Spencer’s heartbreak that was revealed in the first book.

This novel shows Spencer in a much different light as he’s consumed by bitterness and anger after having learned his life had been filled with lies. And because Grandmother Westerly wants to bring her family back together, she decided to get involved and give her grandson the much needed second chance with his first love.

Spencer and Hailey had a really sweet story as they both come down from a tumultuous year and reconnecting brings them the peace they so desperately needed.

Sweet, spicy and sizzling!

As brilliant and successful as Spencer Westerly is, the knowledge that Mark was his biological father, not Dereck, has transformed Spencer into an angry foot-stomping 4 year old. He felt so rejected when his two oldest brothers went to live with Dereck and he and his two sisters were forced to live with their mother.

Stephanie not only lied about Spencer's lineage but made them live in near poverty because her foolish pride refused to let her accept any Westerly money. So now meddling (Grandma) Delinda decides to bring Hailey, Spencer's ex-girlfriend, back to town without their permission and it's about to be on!

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is the second book in the series, and loosely linked to the Andrade books - so any fan will be delighted with this new installment. I do think that you would enjoy this as a stand alone too.

Delinda Westerly has made some mistakes in her life, but she is determined to ensure her grandchildren are all happily married before it is too late - and this time she is focused on Spencer. If you have read the first book, you will know that he has discovered that he isn't who he thought he was at all, and ever since he has been utterly unbearable. His family have done all that they can to make things right, but Delinda's approach is novel, to say the least! As everything unfolds this could have been a terrible mistake.

We meet Spencer's first true love, Hailey, in her new role as guardian to her niece Skye and paid companion to Delinda. It is fascinating to watch all the relationships that develop after she finds out that Spencer is Delinda's grandson. There are some really emotional scenes, as well as one truly hilarious one. We get to see the whole Westerly family and there are distinct signs of hope that they will reconcile, and give Delinda her deepest wish after all.

The second chance romance is beautifully written and the war between heart and brain is fought out over a number of weeks, but I think we all know that the chemistry is going to win, and give us all the ending that we want.

I look forward to finding out which sibling will be the next to fall in love!

When a meddling grandmother plays matchmaker, two former college sweethearts gets another chance at rediscovering love.

Spencer distanced himself from his family after the emergence of his birth secret, finding his former-in-his-mind family manipulative. He achieved his dream of success and appeared to have everything a man wanted but he is not happy at all in his personal life. In comes Hailey, a blast from the past, the only woman he ever fell in love with. And he begins to wonder if what he thinks went wrong the first time around is the truth.

Hailey juggling from the emotional rollercoaster after the loss of her beloved brother and his wife, now has to struggle with a silent and withdrawn niece in her care. Skye now takes top priority in her life and until she feels stable in her new life, she has no time for other distractions.

I love a family-oriented romance and this has them in spades. From Hailey, trying to balance giving Skye what she needed and want, setting up boundaries with Delinda who in trying to assuage her loneliness meddles with all of Skye's affair. Spencer who feels that he doesn't need his family and vice versa begans to thaw and see that family is not born but its created.

Prose: 4/5
How much I enjoyed it: 4/5

Up For Heir (Westerly Billonaires) by Ruth Cardello
Life is the ultimate classroom.  On a daily basis, no matter the age, gender or race we learn truths about ourselves and the world around us.  Two of the most prolific lessons I've learned: (1.)  Learning is an ongoing fixture in life and (2.)  People can surprise in the most unexpected of ways.

Up For Heir is an uplifting tale of lost love, broken dreams and one very special little girl.  Ms. Cardello created a meeting of hearts that was not only a romance, but a pathway to healing.  The connection between Hailey and her brother was an unbreakable one.  Not even death could sever the bond they shared.  His words of encouragement were an ever present feature in the life of a woman determined to keep his memory in her heart.  Another precious bond was the one forged between a scared little girl and a blustery old woman.  The way Skye and the matriarch of the Westerly family took to each other was an emotional experience.  Ruth Cardello set out to write a romance, but she created a love story that affected many lives and helped to rebuild a family.

Received an ARC for my voluntary review for netgalley. This was the second book in the series, this was Spencer's book. I really do not think that it can be read as a standalone, even though the Author tries to bring you up to date with what went on in last book, you should really read it to get the whole picture. Spencer is angry about being lied to his whole life about who his real father was, and he has turned into a jerk, and is drinking every day and turned into a manwhore, and pushing his family away. I really dislike how he and Nicole treat Brett (again read first book) he doesn't deserve and later at end of book, Spencer will come to find out that that was true. We meet Hailey, who was Spencer's college girlfriend and one true love, but thru a misunderstanding let each other go. Thru machinations from Ms. Westerley, they end up back in each others lives and get another chance..Read book people. Can't wait for next one.

Westerly Billionaire #2 is a sweet fast second chance romance.

Up for Heir is the second installment in the Westerly Billionaire series and focuses on Spencer, a self made tech success. He partnered with his long time friend Jordan and they developed amazing technology.

Spencer goes through quite an emotional growth throughout the story and I grew to like him more every chapter.

Hailey is a sweet girl trying to survive the best she can. I liked her as a heroine. My problem was her inner dialogue was excessive and distracting for me.

I kind of love Delinda (Grandmother Westerly) and her pushy, nosy self. I imagine she will be meddling in her family's life in future books as well. She was quite entertaining.

This was book 2 in the "Westerly Billionaire" series. Spencer Westerly is his own man. He didn’t need his father’s money to build his wildly successful tech company and he doesn’t want to deal with the fallout from old family secrets. But as much as Spencer wants to avoid Westerly drama his grandmother Delinda the family matriarch is determined to pull him back into the fold. And she’s discovered the perfect lure: his college sweetheart, Hailey. This was a good read and I love Delinda and her match making ways. Spencer and Hailey hooked up in college and were each others first when it came to sexual experience she is the only woman he has ever loved. Hailey Tiverton has been through a lot her brother Ryan had died and left custody of his 7 year old daughter to her. Hailey is struggling to make ends meet when she crosses paths with Delinda. This was a good read both of these characters have a lot of chemistry. This family has a lot of secrets in it. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I also liked the narration of this book. I am looking forward to reading and listening to the next book in this series.

I have been waiting on this release since the ending of book 1. Spencer story was to be one for the history books and boy was I not disappointed. Old grandma had a plan and boy did it have the ability to be a s storm. Spencer and Hailey reunion had me on edge but oh did it spark the fire from within them both.

The push and pull of half truths of omission. Add Skye into the equation and you have a non-stop read with some off the wall comic reliefs. LOVED it. Yep!!!!

Fantastic!

I wondered how Mrs Westerly was going to bring her grandson back into the fold after blowing up his life in book one. Hailey was the perfect vehicle to remind him of a simpler time and a period when his family actually meant something to him. It was a wonderful story about healing from all different types of loss and coming out stronger on the other side. I enjoyed every page and look forward to the Grand Mrs Westerly's evolution. Bravo Ruth you rocked it. The romance and the rest were touching and heartfelt. Write On! Davia

I didn’t find this book to be any better than book one. Again I listened to the audio version and found the dialog to be awkward at times. The romance was just not believable to me. There is one brother that has not been introduced and I may give the next book a chance if his book is next. I have read good things about this author’s books. Maybe I’m just not the target reader but I have been disappointed.

Second Chance romance series with some what likable characters and a grandmother trying to fix what is broken.
The story 234 pages but it seems to feel a lot longer as the author gives readers way to much of Haliey's inner thoughts. Many times readers will reread the same thought over and over again which as Ruth Cardello gives readers a glimps into the past. Most of the past isn't needed since she covers it in current time.
Spencer is a jerk who grows a little too quickly in live with this first love. The Grandmother is pretty entertaining as she meddles in her Grandchildren lives.
Readers will be able to jump into book 2 without needing to read book 1 and i have a feeling that is how the entire series will be as each of the different children will fall in love or fall back in low.
Thank you to Netgalley and Publisher Montlake Romance for the advance copy

Spencer and Hailey and Skye. This is by far one of my favorites. I love to see the quirkiness of Delinda and how Hailey stands up to her. And how she softens herself when around Skye. I love 2nd chance books and this one definitely doesn't disappoint!! I thoroughly enjoy reading any book or genre that Ruth writes. She is definitely one of my very favorite authors!!!!

sweet second-chance romance. I can't wait for more of the Westerly family stories. Am I the only one who hopes maybe the parents -Stephanie and Derrick- get a book or a little novella?

Up for Heir

So very good. I'm living this series and everything about it. It has great characters, both the ones we love like Hailey and Spencer and the ones we aren't sure about like Delinda. When all is said and done, I can't wait to read the next one.

Alisha agrees as Spencer friend to marry him to help him get his inheritance early with the marriage clause. Of course no one know this when she meet his big Brother Brett he sees the fire she is shooting at him when she sticks up for Spencer and tells him to treat him right. When Bret starts to fall for her he has a hard time believing she really loves his brother. When Spencer learns a family secret it changes everything and it all looks like its going to fall apart. This has a lot of the members of the family second guessing past choices they have made and it might make them work together for the good of the family. But where will this leave Alisha since she not family will she be left out in the cold or will she find what she always looking for Family.
