Aideil: The Shattered World

Rate this book
When dark forces threaten to consume the land, Eyolin must find courage in the face of despair, and unleash the incredible power she has spent her whole life trying to suppress. On the day of her birth, the ancient land of Alagana trembles with a premonition of salvation or destruction surrounding an elvish girl. Eyolin, bearing the same unruly curls as her mother, arrives in a world where darkness has the upper hand. As Eyolin grows older, her elder sister, Arden, is tasked with helping keep Eyolin's unruly magik hidden. Tired of a life lived in the shadow of her younger sister, Arden abandons them both, leaving the vulnerable Eyolin in the sole care of the girls' languishing mother, and one step closer to the darkness that taunts them all. Dark forces are on the rise throughout the kingdom, forces that Eyolin's mother cannot keep at bay. Tragedy strikes, and Eyolin-for the first time in her young and dangerous existence-must survive alone. In struggling to keep her magik hidden, Eyolin retreats to a life of quiet routine. But with each passing moment, the dark forces threaten to envelop the kingdom and corrupt her soul. As the world teeters on the brink of war and darkness, Eyolin must fight through the machinations of those around her and unleash the unparalleled power within her if the land of Alagana is to endure. Aideil: The Shattered World is the breathtaking debut novel in a trilogy that chronicles the journeys of two elvish sisters, an assassin, and a Gifted swordsman, and how their decisions change not only their own lives, but the course of history for all of Alagana. M.E. Royce is a graduating high school senior from a small town in rural Montana. Inspired by adventures stemming in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, she incorporated her love for literature with a background in martial arts to create the seven kingdoms of Alagana. She dreams that the rest of the world can venture into the magical unknown and get lost in the battle between Light and Dark. description

This book is written with style and it reminds me of other books I have loved in the past. There is pain of loss , training, injury , and not knowing who to trust ....... For me I enjoyed every sentence that was written..I will definitely follow this author for a follow up (crosses my fingers).. Now the amazing thing about the author was graduating from High School when this was written -- so young to have such an awesome gift.. I will follow this young writer and enjoy every book that is put out..

This story revolves around Vialett and her sister Cara, Vialett is a water lily of the Fae realm. They travel to the Guardian a Wolfhound that appears to be a stone unless the cave of knowing is approached. She ask for his blessing so she can enter the pool of Faerfalls.
She learns that one of her twins will be born with magik ( magic) that could devastate the entire world of Alagana.Beautiful story of a mothers love and what she will endure to keep her children and her kingdom safe.
What would any mother do with the prospect of her child's life being in the balance between good and evil? Ardon is the younger of the twins and all her life she has been responsible to keep her sister Eyolin's wild magik under control. Getting tired of this she runs away abandoning her sister and her mother.
I loved the characters and writing in this story. The spelling of magic as magik is most likely the author's way of making the magic personal to this realm. The story has a good fluid flow, and lots of adventure to satisfy the fantasy lover. I enjoyed this well thought out tale, so I gave it 5 stars. I thought the idea behind this book was wonderful, and I truly look forward to more from this author. I however did find it a bit confusing, and thought that it could have flowed a little better.
