Seeking solitude and the magic power of a mysterious orb, Yan Tanafres is summoned by the Emperor and accused of secretly helping the evil saurian forces, and he must journey across the Sea of Storms to prove himself. Original.
(Fantasy 1997) Again, Yan is totally wrapped in his own search for knowledge without concern for those around him. His occasional realization that there are others in the world who care about him come few and far between. People lost their lives trying to help and protect him, without his affection or sympathy for anything that got in the way of what he wanted. It was a pretty unsatisfying series.
I enjoyed this series as whole, but this last book just left we shaking my head. The second book in the series is excellent and sets the series up for a great finale, but the actual last book doesn't resolve much of anything. Overall, the book is fine, especially if viewed as a stand alone story. I feel like it would be nice if Charrette went back and visited this series again as there was a lot of potential there.
