Happily married, Alaric and Morgana purchase a remote horse ranch in order for Alaric to immerse himself in his kinky pursuits – cross-dressing, chastity devices, rubber bondage, breath restriction and suspension. While Morgana has no interest in his kinky fascinations, she leaves her husband free to pursue them. Months later, while she’s away visiting friends, Alaric arranges for a total self-bondage experience from which he’ll be unable to escape. He enlists the help of his Mistress friend to release him later that day after some thrilling torment. An ingenious computer controls every facet of the bondage. He’s partially-gagged within a locked-on gas mask and helmet, denied of sight and sound. He has no idea of what is to come, or for how long he’ll be compelled to endure the torment. He knows only that he’ll be milked both as a female and a male, while many other nasty surprises await! What he also doesn't know is that his Mistress friend has been working with his wife to create this exact situation, and he’s unwittingly fallen into their trap! Now his fate lies in the hands of a once lovely wife who’s turned into the cruelest of Mistresses. Will he be kept forever in this punitive chastity ensemble? She alone holds the answer.
This is a story recounted by Alaric, husband to Morgana, who has a fetish for extreme bondage and cross-dressing. So much so that Alaric has written fictional books that deal with his fantasies. As we open this book, Morgana, who takes little interest in her husband's play but accepts it, is away for about a week and Alaric has retained Marlene, a professional Dominatrix, to attend to him after he has spent a day (or, perhaps more) in self-bondage. This tale takes place entirely in British Columbia, Canada.
The description of the bondage is very complete throughout this book, providing the reader with an incredible amount of detail. Additionally, there is a fair amount of "product placement" and I had to wonder after a time whether or not JG Leathers is receiving remuneration for including certain brands for certain fetish items. One thing that I note is that at no time does the author miss anything. There is no description of bondage that is physically impossible, no device is suddenly "off the body" then suddenly on it during a scene. I would also note that the amount of equipment described in this story, including customized name-brand as well as completely custom equipment would cost well over $1 million in US dollars. This goes beyond a fetish and into the kind of perversion that only the extremely wealthy would be able to do.
Marlene, of course, surprises Alaric with her desire to push his limits and, when his wife comes home from her travels, she takes over. Morgana tells Alaric that Marlene woke up her own sadistic impulses and that Alaric is about to undergo a complete transformation—one that would seem to deny his humanness.
One important aspect for me in a book is that the author maintain a suspension of disbelief—that I find the actions or the situation to be believable enough to engage and stay engaged. JG Leathers pleases in the description of bondage but fails with respect to abandonment. No dominant person would allow a submissive, slave or property to be in a situation that could kill them if anything unexpected were to happen and this type of scenario begins the book with Alaric's self-bondage and the timed arrival of the professional Dominatrix, Morgana after Alaric had been bound for quite some time with no observer, no person to ensure his safety. Situations like this occur throughout the story with Alaric who, later, becomes "Larissa" abandoned to long periods of bound torment.
This makes the practices involved extremely unsafe and not recommended. There is some repetition of scenarios in this book that could have been avoided by the author.
With all of these complaints, I still give this book four stars and a "Recommended" review because of the believable bondage with very, very expensive equipment, because the story line moves through a gradually worsening situation for Alaric/Larissa to a final conclusion and epilogue that amuses and is believable.
One thing that I would warn English and American readers, as this takes place in Canada, all measurements are metric. While that may annoy some, it does not detract from the story.
