Rachel was born and raised in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Being part of the Mennonite community, she started writing Amish romance fiction as a way of looking at the Amish community. She wanted to present a fair and honest representation of a love that is both romantic and sweet. Her books about Jacob Marshall, "A Home for Jacob series," is the most popular of her books.
I was hooked from the beginning to the end. This book hits a real issue so many of us have today. A weight problem hits a lot of people we know, love or possibly us. I love the way Rachel discusses, the way to eat, cook and be healthy. The important people in our lives attitudes, how they are willing to help, change or discourage our struggle. The young man that could see the beautiful person within rather than the outer. I have read several of Rachel books, I can't wait to read the next book in this series. Kudos to you Rachel on a well written book.
Very good read about obesity in an Amish family. This is something we don't often read about in Amish Fiction. I guess losing weight is a life style change . In Amish Seeds of Change we see the changes this family must embrace to help a beloved family member. I intend to read this series to its end. I found it to be a worth while read. It touched my heart !
I'm astonished how Author Rachel Stoltzfus has wonderfully written on this subject in this book, "Amish Seeds of Change", that are one of the most sensitive subjects. She writes this storyline with dignity and kept me successfully intrigued through the whole book. I'm looking forward to reading the next book and definitely recommend reading this book.
I received a complimentary copy from the the author. This review is one hundred percent my opinion.
I was disappointed. I have been reading Amish novels for many years and usually find them enjoyable. This book is very little about Amish and very much about being overweight and surgeries and low calorie cooking. I am reading book two hoping that it gets into the characters and their lives. If it continues all about medical issues I will not be reading more of Rachel Stoltzfus books.
This book tells about an obese girl who struggles to loose weight and the obstacles that she encounters. Her special friend and family except for one sister are all supportive. The book also educates the reader about healthy eating and bariatric surgery. Thank you Rachel Stoltzfus for writing an excellent positive book.
I believe this was one of Rachel Stoltzfus's best book. I love all her books but this deals with things we all struggle with. I know the Amish work hard but I have often wondered how they can eat 3 big meals a day and always finishes with pie, cake or cookies. I can't wait till I can read how she does after the surgery.
This was all about an Amish girl's need to lose weight. Is was interesting but was left open ended. I know the do this to make you buy the next book. Also, the Amish Deacon said he saw something on tv. Do they watch tv?
I really enjoyed the first book off his series I hope book 2 of this is as as good my hat was off to Emma and her Mom and Dad cannot wait to see what happens with the sister very enjoyable read .
This is such a great book. I have been overweight all my life. I am now 76 and just beginning to seriously take charge of my diet and food preparation. I wish I had had this book fifty years ago.
