The sins of his past can’t be forgiven.

Mason Thatcher gave me chills when I first laid eyes on him. The good kind. The kind that makes your body ache and your heart hammer.

What’s better is that he looked at me the same way.
There was a hunger in his eyes that wouldn’t be sated, and a confidence in his stride that told me I could never run from him. Back then, I didn’t want to.

It’s not fair that his touch eased my pain.
That his lips on mine made my worries vanish.
That his love gave me a reason to breathe again.

With him, I felt complete, as if fate had given me a second chance.

Then I learned the truth: the sins and secrets of what really brought us together.

I knew it was too good to be true, but I could never have imagined he’d be capable of something so cold and cruel. That he was the reason my world crumbled.

There’s no way we can go back to what we once had and it’s not as easy as walking away. He can’t risk me telling his secrets.

I don’t know what choices I have or how I’ll survive this.

What he’s done is unforgivable, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to let me go.

Unforgiven is the second book in the new series, Sins and Secret Series of Duets by Wall Street Journal and USA Today Bestselling author Willow Winters. It is book 2 of a 2 book duet although other standalone duets will be featured in the series. It is not necessary, but highly recommended that you read book 1, Imperfect, before reading Unforgiven.

Willow started writing after having her little girl, Evie, December 2015. All during her pregnancy with Evie she continued to read and she only wanted to read romance. She was reading a book a day — sometimes two.

In January 2016 Willow was staying up late with Evie and just thinking of all these stories. They came to her constantly so she finally sat down and just started writing. She always wanted to do it so she figured, why not? Today Willow cannot be happier for making that decision!

I devoured part one and jumped right into this one. It's the conclusion to Mason and Julia's story. Mason takes obsession to the next level in this story. It pushed at my boundaries and I wouldn't call what he did "healthy" for a relationship. When I was able to get out of my own filter and comfort zone, however, I was entertained.

The plot took both anticipated and unexpected turns. I felt Julia had more of an opportunity for growth while Mason was pretty much who he was right from the start. Sometimes that was good, others not so much. The darkness within him was definitely still there and it seems to have more of a free reign in this book. Julia crosses a few lines into dark herself. It helped her understand Mason all the better for it.

Safety: No cheating between our main couple. No rape or abuse except in the form of restraint without consent.

Review:
"The world will never know what it took for the two of us to come out of this alive and together. No one will ever realize how much strength there is between us. We're unbreakable."

This duet blew me away. It's by far my new top fave from this Willow Winters. The plot is more intricate, the writing is more sophisticated, and most importantly, the characters are the most complicated and fleshed out characters I feel she's written. In a word - stunning!!

Unforgiven picks up immediately following the events of Imperfect. Mason's secret is out and it has a major impact on his relationship with Julia. This book continues to explore the fallout of those secrets plus a few other twists and turns.

Here's what I loved: Mason! This is one of those times when I fell whole-hearted for a fictional characters and I'm not ashamed to admit it. He's sexy, sweet, commanding, and loves his woman unconditionally. You can't ask for more than that. A man willing to put his life on the line for his girl is as sexy as it gets! He's amazing!

The writing and setup - I mentioned this in my review for book 1 and it remains true. The format and writing, as well as chapter setup in this duet is one of the most impressive features of the duet. I enjoyed it immensely. For those who are wondering, the book is written in 1st person and dual POV.

The intricate and complex character dynamics - Are the characters perfect? No! Did they both make mistakes? Absolutely! Did I care? Not in the least. I think that's why I enjoyed this so much. I know there are several morally dubious occurrences in the book, but that just added to the excitement for me! Yep, that says a lot about me. LOL

Anyway, the book is flipping amazing. It's entertaining, gut-wrenching and my heart pounded pretty much throughout. It may not be for everyone, but it definitely worked for me.

4.5 Stars

It was so hard to finish this book. So freaking hard!! Why??? Because I HATED Julia. HATED HER!!

I just couldn't find it in myself to like the heroine. She was a complete basket case. She was useless. She was inconsistent. She was not relatable. She was utterly unlikable. What pushed me to continue reading was the hero. Ahhhh... Mason was AWESOME!! The author gave us so much of him. His inner workings, his inner thoughts, his motivations, his passion, his compassion, and his absolute devotion and adoration of the heroine.

Mason was truly a worthwhile hero!!

Now, in my opinion, murder is never okay. Ever. But in the way that this was written it felt like the heroine was absolving her dead husband, who conspired to murder, while condemning this new man that she loved. Her dead husband killed not out of self-defense or for the better good of the world, but because he didn't want his secret to come out whereas the hero killed in order to give the victim of her husband some much-needed justice. I'm not saying it was okay, but since when was her husband the highest measure of virtue? Why was it Mason could never catch a damn break? I'm just baffled by how she could treat him so abhorrently.

Overall this was a decent story. I feel that many parts needed to be fleshed-out and the crux of the story had a bit too many gaps, some of which weren't realistic. I did enjoy how the author played up the suspense of the novel and it lent to the passion that surrounded and made up the hero. I felt like it gave more credence to his story and I think I would have preferred that the story was told from his perspective alone. I'm sorry but he was the only character that was proven relevant to me.

So the question is... Will I read another story by this new-to-me author? Heck yeah. Her writing style was different when compared to anything I've ever read and I found it enjoyable. So reading another story from her will definitely be in my future!

Unforgiven is book two of the "Sins and Secrets Duet." This installment picks up right where the first book left off. Unfortunately, I found Jules to be one of those annoying heroines that I just do not care for. Mason; the hero....deserved a much more loyal woman....especially while he was willing to go to any depths for her. I hate when one of the couple is 100% invested in their relationship, and the other one just complains...and won't even try to forgive the other person. That pretty much sums up Jules in a nutshell, and the more she was negative, the more I didn't want to finish the book!!

Mason saved the story for me though. I loved him as well as his devotion to Jules!
There are more stories to be told in the "Sins and Secrets" series. The next duet is about Kat, (who is Jules's friend); and her husband. I'm hoping that the main couple will BOTH be likeable this next book! I will continue with this series, but I'm going to take a break first!!

Title: Unforgiven
Author: Willow Winters

5 amazing stars

Here are a few things I knew as I went in this book:
1- Jules and Mason's relationship was explosif to say the least
2- Jules was a broken woman after the death of her husband
3- Mason is hiding the biggest secret from Jules, one that will rock her to her core
4- Mason's father is a first class a$$hat (and I'm putting it mildly)
5- Imperfect ended in quite the cliffhanger that gave me one heck of a book hangover

To say that you need to have read the first instalment in this duet before diving into Unforgiven is an understatement. You SHOULD have read it beforehand, especially if you want to understand exactly where this book starts off since there's no time difference from the end of one and the start of the other. Willow Winters delivers another unforgettable story with the conclusion of Jules and Mason's story.

4.5 sexy dreams

I was captivated. Stuck in my seat until I'm done, forget the world around me and ignore that I'm an adult, captivated me. I HAD to find out exactly who knows what Mason did. I HAD to know what Jules and Mason's story and how their relationship would end up. Finally, I find out who and what Mason's father's job actually is! Who would have thought that his day job was that (and no, I really don't want to spoil the Reveal on that one) , and it makes sense on how he managed to get away with so much! There was so much suspense, intrigue and mystery and I couldn't get enough of this couple. I absolutely love Willow Winters' novels and can't wait to get to read more from her in the future!

"Right now, I just need to feel like you love me again..."

A fantastic conclusion to an intoxicating duet! I loved IMPERFECT, and UNFORGIVEN was not what I was expecting, but in the best way.

How far would you go to forgive the man you love... I admit, at times I felt Jules was clinging a little too long to her first husband, who'd betrayed her over and over... Still, it was a great read!

Suspense, betrayal, HOT sexytimes, and a surprising mystery--if you love these things, don't miss this FIVE STAR thriller.

This is the conclusion to Imperfect, which is a duet in the Sins and Secrets series. You have to read book 1 to understand book 2.
Mason Thatcher will do everything to get Julia back, to get her to stay with him. Since becoming aware of what Mason has done, things are unraveling fast and now Julia is now a prisoner in the home she shared with Mason. She suffers from a range of emotions- the biggest are anger, confusion and yet love. All these emotions are driving her a bit batty. Mason himself is going slightly mad himself – with all that has gone on, he doesn’t want to lose Julia. He loves her deeply and madly. He doesn’t want to own up that the lies and deception he was forced to engage in could push her away for good. He isn’t about to lose her and he will do anything to win her back after his lies and deception have come to light. The thing is, will his sins outweigh his love and total devotion? That’s the true question perhaps.
I couldn’t put this book down and I wavered back and forth yelling at both major characters. There is some major twists and turns in this book that kept me on the edge up until the very end. You don’t want to rush the telling/reading of this book for you will miss that sudden twist. I swear I felt like I was literally right there with Mason and Julia during this story living out their bittersweet love story. I have to say, Im so glad I don’t have to make these decisions that they did for Im sure I would fail. Mason and Julia have a complex and unique love story that is full of Secrets and lies, angst, sadness, steamy and erotic love and yet at the same time deep intense love. So many emotions, so many feelings. You don’t want to miss this love story.

This is the conclusion to the story and in it you get all the heartache and love. I loved this story and read it in one sitting, I couldn't put it down. The opening poem (Chapter 1) was so intense and so much feeling. It gives such an expression of loss of self and strength to fight. Mason continues to professes his love for Jules. But will Jules?
The story continues with the manipulation, betrayal and death. How many will fall before the truth is revealed?

Wowzer, did this part of the story get dark....I mean DAAAARK! This concludes Julia and Mason's story and I am pretty speechless with this ride. Right at the beginning since you found out some secrets Julia and Mason are in a very delicate situation. I thought Mason was all swoony and sweet but I got to see a very dark side to his being and I was very unsure if I could continue my love for this character. Julia tried to be a stronger character but I think she fell flat. I enjoyed the new mystery, the twists, turns, and the new revelations...just WOW! Overall this duet appealed to my dark side and I enjoyed all the frustration, darkness, and crazy that happened along the way.

What an exciting tale! There were twists and surprises that kept me on my toes!

I was excited for this book and it didn't disappoint. So here's the thing, starting from where book one left off, she's afraid of him. But really, she's more afraid of the truth. I mean cmon he was willing to tell her everything, but she didn't ask a whole lot of questions.

I love their story. I love how Willow showed different sides to them. They were real and flawed, but strong.
I received an arc of this.

This is the second book in this series and Imperfect needs to be read first.

Mason Thatcher will do everything he can to get Julia to stay with him, even if that means keeping her a prisoner in his home. Yet he believes he is doing this to protect her from his father and from whomever knows the truth about what happened that night with Jace.

Julia Summers hates Mason for what he did to her life, even if the life she was living was a lie. She thinks he is dangerous but she has no idea how far his father's reach goes. When Julia learns that Mason may actually be telling the truth about the danger she is in will she let him protect her?

Can Julia and Mason figure out who knows the truth and who is after them? Will they ever be able to move on from the lies and find the love they once had?

This conclusion was awesome! Once again there were twists and turns and just when you think you know in your mind who is guilty something happens that makes you doubt everything again.

I do believe Julia's life was in danger due to what people thought she knew about previous events with Avery and Jace. She was an unknown loose end that had to be dealt with before things got out. She was vulnerable yet at the same time almost got stronger in this book as she knew what she would and wouldn't settle for. I think she also really came to terms that Mason would do absolutely anything to protect her.

Mason knew he was in love with Julia but was also aware that her life was in danger and was going to keep her away from everyone to keep her safe. But he also knew that at some point he couldn't keep her away from everyone and she would have to decide if she wanted to be with him or not.

The twists and turns kept you involved in the book and you wondered if Mason and Julia would be able to reclaim their love again.

The ending was awesome and I look forward to more from this author!

I was given a copy of this book by the publisher for an unbiased review.

This is a review of both Unforgiven and Imperfect , as I read them both together.

Once I got into the meat of the story, I couldn't put these books down. They're classified as suspense, but I think I'd go with just a semi-dark romance. There's definitely an element of danger, and some mysteries to be solved, which puts it in that category - but I really like how everything was woven together in one big hot mess of a story.

Let's talk about the characters.

Mason has kept his eye on Julia for most of their lives for myriad reasons. Because her brother Jace had died and couldn't be there for her, because he felt like she needed watching over, and because - this one most of all - he couldn't stand to think of her in trouble, or with some guy that didn't deserve her. What he really wanted to admit to himself was that he didn't want her to be with anyone but him, but that was an entirely different problem.

Julia hated that Mason treated her like a kid. She did NOT need to be watched 24/7. He was ruining her social life, and her life in general. Mostly because when she thought about him, she didn't think of him as a big brother figure, Julia wanted him like a woman wanted a man - and Mason definitely did NOT give off that kind of vibe.

But as things are wont to do, Julia pushed a little too far, and Mason pushed back. They ended up in each other's faces instead of Mason just watching from behind the scenes, and that made Julia very unsettled indeed. With them in such close quarters, their walls began to crumble, and secrets were coming out into the daylight... just the sort of thing that Mason was trying to avoid.

Julia always wanted to fill in the missing gaps in her memory about the day her brother died, but looking into it was very dangerous. Mason knows that for *so* many reasons. Mostly because Mason was there that day too. So who knows the truth? Who wants to keep it from her? Why doesn't she remember what happened? Everything is answered in this book, and so much more.

Yes, there are some situations that seem coincidental, but it's a fantasy - a story, that's what builds the tension and keeps the reader on the edge of their seat. I found it utterly compelling, and I wouldn't mind Mason keeping an eye on me for a while...

I give this five "Sensitive Alpha Males" out of five.

Unforgiven drew me in from the very beginning, the intensity, and raw detailed emotion grabbed me by the feels and took me on a rollercoaster ride full of frustrations, sadness, hug it out moments, and awe-inspiring love.
To me, this book felt a bit darker than the first, but in IMO that is one of Willow Winters talents.
Since becoming aware of what Mason has done, Julia is now a prisoner in the home she shared with Mason, her conflicting emotions between anger and confusion of love are driving her a bit crazy.
While Mason is teetering on the edge of a breakdown himself. These two are about to test the boundaries of their sanities as they dabble on the brink of right and wrong, love and hate, life and death, and the catalysts for most battles truth and lies.
Fantastic storyline! I love books that get me all fired up over characters, and have me thinking about them and the story as a whole later on, like how would I be in this situation... A must read along with the first book Imperfect

Stunning, gripping, edge of your seat ending to Imperfect!

Unforgiven by the wonderful Willow Winters is the conclusion to Mason and Jules story in Imperfect, book 1. Secrets and lies, full of frustrations, turmoil and awe-inspiring love!

The truth is starting to unravel for Jules over Mason’s secrets and lies and she is left in their home contemplating on what she will do. Leave or stay? She is going stir crazy  with emotions of anger, hurt and love. Can she forgive and forget? Can love be so strong it overpowers other emotions?

Mason will do anything to have his Jules back, but will his sins outshine his heartfelt love and devotion?

Make sure you have time to read when you begin this emotional journey of a book because once you start you won’t want to stop! I was on the edge of my seat, teetering right along with the characters on what will happen. Ms. Winters is an excellent writer in her use of plot twists and describing the characters emotions and actions. Geez.. it felt like I was right beside them! You will be thinking about this book long after you finished.

Great conclusion to the story. As we begin this one, Mason is sort of holding Julia prisoner. She's numb from what she's learned about the true fate of her husband. She wants to leave, but Mason wants to make sure she knows the entire story -- how he and her husband were connected and why Mason did what he did. It's not as cut and dried as it seems. But now Julia is in danger because she knows, because someone else told her, which means someone else knows. And Mason needs to keep her safe until he figures out who and why. When it all comes down at the end, it's not entirely surprising, yet it's still shocking. Thankfully, Mason and Julia are able to work through their issues to find the love they had built before the huge secret was revealed.

Unforgiven is a continuation from where Imperfect left off and can't be read as a standalone.
Unforgiven is another fantastic 5 star read and is everything I'd hoped it would be when I finished Imperfect.
This book ripped me apart and I couldn't put it down once and I had to read it in one sitting.
Willow Winters definitely knows how to keep her readers hooked with all these fantastic plot twists and the heartbreaking story of Julia and Mason.
I absolutely loved this story and fell hard for Mason in Imperfect and that love stayed strong throughout Unforgiven (yes I do know he's a fictional character )
You could really tell he loved Julia with all of his heart and it was heartbreaking to read about them going through all this when they really needed each other.
Secrets and lies get in the way of true love but can Julia forgive and forget or will she cast the lovely Mason Thatcher aside for all his sins.
One click this fantastic book and get taken on a powerful intense journey and find out the answer.

Willow Winters so did it again!!!
The emotions you feel throughout Unforgiven are intense to say the least!!
This is the conclusion to Mason and Julia!!!
Mason will do anything in his power to keep Julia safe!!
Julia hates Mason for what he has done. She thinks he is dangerous, but should really think that? She doesn't realize the reach her father has.
Will Julia finally start believing Mason?
Will they found out the truth and figure out who is after them?
Will they finally move past all the lies and live one another again?
Ms. Winters takes us on a ride full of twists and turns that keep you guessing and turning the pages until the very end!!
Another phenomenal read by Willow Winters!!!

OMG.OMG.OMG. This was a very intense book, but very good! I finished the first book this morning then started this one & didn't put it down until I was done! It hooks you from the very beginning and keeps you hooked through the rest of the book. Even up until the very end, it remained intense and kept you wondering what would happen. Mason and Jules definitely have an interesting love story to tell their kids about in the future. I found this to be much better than the first book, which was still good, but this one was just amazing!!

😬This story took me by surprise. It was raw with so much emotion! It kept me in my toes with a few twist and lies going. The love between these two is intense and consuming. Love and hate are emotions that both bring out the most passion. You definitely have it in this story. Totally recommend. Must read book 1 to get the foundation of this story.

Can you forgive a killer?  Can you love one?  These two questions are tearing Julia up inside and ruining what was between her and Mason. Book 2 of this series has twists and turns, darkness and some light. It makes you think and reach deep into yourself to ask the hardest of questions. Truth is, you never know how you would react until placed in that situation. It is that that Julia must learn amd understand. Beautifully written, I loved this book and it was a fitting end to this 2 book duet. Can't wait to see what else Ms. Winters sends our way!   I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

Can you love a killer, could you forgive him? Jules loves Mason but can't get out of her head what he did. Mason will do anything for Jules, he loves her unconditionally. But when someone rips their lives apart and Mason's secret is exposed, can Jules ever forgive him. The heart wants what the heart wants and Mason will convince Jules of that. I love this series and I love the characters. As you read you can feel the heartbreak the characters go through and you can't help hoping they get there HEA that they both deserve. Once you start reading you will not want to stop.

Sins and Secrets book 2, absolutely blew my mind. It was totally unexpected and had a few twists I didn't see coming, but really enjoyed. The characters were from different backgrounds and yet still belonged inside the societies circle. The story line was another surprise which I found myself intrigued by. A powerful and alittle edge to it made this book such a pleasure. The author definitely made this book an exciting read. Loved it.❤️

This is the continuation of Imperfect. This is not a stand alone.

I wanted to smack Jules and take Mason away from her. I am so in love with him. My one downfall is to see a man cry.
This book had me crying, it had me so torn up.
The plot twist in this book was fabulous. It keeps you guessing.

Already with the first poem at the beginning of the first chapter you know you are up for an emotional roller coaster ride!
This story is so full of agony and despair, so full of longing for forgiveness and self-hatred, so full of selfless love and drama and so full of mystery after mystery that it breaks your heart while reading it.
It has not only once left me in tears and I had to read it in one go, as so many of Willow Winter’s books!
