The stakes couldn't be higher; if Victus seizes the Aegis outposts, they will mercilessly exterminate the Aegis people, gain control of their powerful networks, and use Graham to usher in an era of darkness.New alliances will form. New powers will be revealed, and the battle will rage as the inevitable collision of the two immortals grows ever nearer. The beginning of the end has come." The Rift" is an enthralling coming-of-age tale that weaves together elements of fantasy, adventure, and magic realism. Graham's journey from an ordinary orphan to an unexpected hero sets the stage for an epic battle between light and dark, promising an unforgettable adventure where destiny and power intersect in truly extraordinary ways.Interview with the AuthorQ - What makes the AEGIS Series so unique?I am a huge fan of epic adventures. I loved The Chronicles of Narnia and Lord Of The Rings and always acted out fight scenes in my head as a child. I thrive on the stories of the classic clash of good vs. evil. I also appreciate clean stories that don't rely on rash language and questionable intimate scenes. Great stories don't need those. A solid plot, relatable characters, hard decisions, strong moral fiber, and nail-biting action carry a series to greatness. We all want themes that stick with us long after we are finished reading, ones that make us think deeply. Yeah, that is what sets this apart... and, of course, I have developed the story to keep you turning the pages in anticipation. You may hate me for making you stay up all night to finish!Q - What books are in the series?Another unique aspect of the AEGIS series is the Character Stories. These are novelettes based on each main character in the series to give you a glimpse into the extraordinary circumstances that shaped them into who they are today. These novelettes can be read in any order, but I suggest reading Catalyst Grove before diving in. Here is what is out so Catalyst The The Frozen Throne (in process)+1 more plannedCHARACTER Graham DawsonMission Eric Branson+ many more to come!Q - So, why should readers give these books a try?Readers will likely enjoy the book if they - Adventurous storylines - Epic battles - Clean reading - Strong, relatable characters - An urge to wage war against the forces of darkness - Deep, meaningful moral undertones - Mystery - Special Powers (superhero/superpowers you ask? I guess you will have to read and see :) )Enjoy!
During the day, Nathan works at Samaritan's Purse - Operation Christmas Child, where he enjoys being a part of worldwide children's evangelism. At night, however, he is an aspiring novelist, writing action/adventure, modern fantasy novels.
Nathan Roten began his writing career in the non-fiction world with the publication of Embark, but has now dedicated all of his creative juices into creating the Adventure Epic novels of the Aegis Series. He is currently working on book 3 in the series along with many of the Character novelettes.
His goal in the series is to produce quality action stories that are clean, exciting and contain important, biblical undertones.
If he is not writing, he is either at the lake or roaming the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina with his wife and 3 children.

This is a book about the struggle between 2 groups of super powered people (descriptions of names and abilities at the front of the book) and how the various people in the groups relate to each other and cope with a war while trying to keep everything out the papers as much as possible. This is a great science fiction thriller, with loads in here for any reader who likes super heroes, detective stories or action to enjoy. I recieved a copy from the author, with no expectation for a positive review, which it is why it is such a please to whole heartedly recommend this to everyone as a great fun read.
In Aegis: The Rift, the epic battle between good and evil continues. As Graham learns how to use his powers he also discovers the history of his new family, Aegis. This installment was better than the first. I loved discovering more about Aegis and its other outposts. It was cool to see that the network was in other countries. I also loved the characters and their stories. Each one had his/her own history and personality which added to the overall story. It seems like Graham is being trained from something greater than just leading his team. Can't wait to see what happens next.
My fourth read from author Nathen Roten. With every word written Roten has grown on me, in fact, I had an ARC of this book but I went out & bought it I liked him so much. Captivating story line, memorable characters, who could ask for anything more, well maybe some more time so I could read more.
This book keeps you interested all the way through. With the students developing and using their talents to battle the baddies that want to destroy them. Betrayal and double dealing have to be dealt with if they are to challenge and defeat the enemy.
I can't help but think that Mr. Roten thoroughly enjoyed drafting the fight scenes! The "good guys" are merciful, varied in characterization and magical skill levels, and genuinely interesting to get to know throughout the story. The occasionally awkward sentence does not take away from the enjoyment of the plot, which is interestingly different from much-rehashed traditional fantasy. I look forward to the next book!
I admit it. I am a Harry Potter fan. This series is a great one to read if you are missing that fantasy field. The characters are the kind you can relate to even if they are special. As for their adopted father, I would be in awe of him, too. I loved this read and am ready for the next one in the series.
Aegis The Rift Exciting mind boggling powers of each character that brought me in further as I read and was taken into a whole new world of. Nathan Roten has really outdid himself with the second book in the series. I can barely wait for the next one.
