*** I am a fan of Aiden Bates and his mPreg tales. *** This is a marvelous full-bodied novel. Jason is a Lawyer, These men grew up together and haven't seen each other in 20 years. Luke , an omega, has a 7 yr. old son, Caleb, a Nurse Practitioner, and a deadbeat ex, Steve. Jason has no family and still loves Luke. The hospital has been served with a lawsuit from a religious cult, that Jason is countersuing. The group is extremely harmful. Luke and Caleb live on a big property with Luke's bothers, Dom and Joe, while they all run the Golden Retriever's rescue business, rehabbing and caring for the big dogs. Many issues are dealt with, from Luke and Jason dating, Caleb's problems at school with bullies, plus Dom's health, Joe's addiction, and both brother's bully Luke endlessly. Jason, Luke, both in their late 30s, and Caleb just want to be happy. Our men move into Jason's condo, together with Caleb. The cult continues it's reign of terror and even causes deaths because they block the ER entrance. The police and the hospital work hard to ensure good care, and untangle the web of crazy zealots. Luke's ex also reeks havoc and tries to take Caleb from school. This is a smoothly paced novel and we see how it all unfolds. Meanwhile, Luke and Jason are solid as a couple, and even more than that, they are a family, with a surprise included. We learn a lot in this tale and we see love blossom, too. Our men are sexy and sizzling. We get to watch the progression of our new family, the brothers, and the bad guys and gals, getting their justice. They were truly evil and heartless, especially with the violence and kidnapping. Our big smile comes with the HEA. ALSO * there's a bonus chapter at the very end, that shares the families visit to the Judge's chambers, three years later. Have some tissues handy !! Highly recommended. ENJOY ! =====================
I went in to the story complete blind and I was surprised. I really liked the dynamics of the story but I experienced a shock when I read that the men could get pregnant ??? and all the negative vibe from Luke's brothers??? boy I was mad at them.. The main reason of low rating is non-existent chemistry between the main protagonists. I just couldn't find it .
This is the third book in the Silver Oak Medical Center series.
Jason Delancey never forgot his first love Luke. They shared an unforgettable kiss under the football bleachers in high school. Twenty years later they are reunited at Silver Oak Hospital. Jason is the hospitals General Counsel and Luke is a nurse in the Palliative Care unit.
Luke has a lot on his plate...with his recent divorce, raising a 7-year old as a single father, having to move in with his two overbearing brothers after the divorce and the lawsuit the hospital is facing targeting the unit of the hospital in which he works at. He doesn't have time for romance but he can't seem to stay away from Jason. Luke is suspicious of Jason because he seems too good to be true. His ex-husband started off being the same as Jason, but quickly changed and became a mean drunk.
Jason is trying his hardest to prove to Luke that he genuinely cares not only about him, but Luke's son, Caleb. Jason and Caleb automatically hit it off. They become as thick as thieves almost immediately. He couldn't love Caleb more if he was his own flesh and blood.
I have to say that I think this is my favorite book in the series so far. I think a large part of it had to do with Caleb. His personality just jumped out from the pages. I just wanted to cuddle him all the time. He had such a big heart and was just so lovable. The love story between Jason and Luke was just amazing. I absolutely loved the chemistry between Jason and Caleb. The bond they had was just beautiful. I look forward to the next book in the series. This group of characters have quickly become a favorite.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.
Jason is General Counsel at Silver Oak. He is working on the lawsuit against the hospital. The hospital is accused of convinced patients with terminal illnesses to turn to palliative care instead of fighting for their lives. Luke works as a nurse in the palliative care unit at Silver Oak. He cares for his patients, even though he knows he is going to lose them eventually. It is always good to get home with his son Caleb and the dogs. They are so full of life in contrast with the little life left in his patients. I love Jason. It is the kind of man I would like to have in my life: caring, supportive, loving, understanding, full of patience, someone to be trusted no matter what. And I love Caleb. He is so clever to be a little kid. He knows what he wants and has his ideas totally clear. I like Luke. He is very good and supportive with his patients. However, in his personal life, he is insecure, full of doubts, and always guilty of the problems his son has at school. He is a good father, and have a great relationship with his son. One thing I didn’t like is when Dom and Joe speak badly about Luke in front of Caleb. Nobody in their right mind would do that. I can understand why both of them try to sabotage Luke’s relationship with Jason: they are afraid of Luke being hurt again. One thing that is not very believable is the discussions with the police and Caleb attending to them. I would have liked to know what make the person responsible for the leaking of patients’ personal details behave like that. I love Aiden Bates’ stories. They are always fun, sweet and at the same time real as real life itself. Always well-written and well-developed, a joy for us readers. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.
It wouldn't be Silver Oak Medical if there weren't some big drama and this book fit the bill. This is actually my favorite book in the series so far. With drama, feels, family, and resolution, this one feels the most compete.
I really loved Jason. He was honest about his feelings and didn't avoid them or evade either. He was brave in that he allowed Luke to have all the power over their circumstances. He provided a safe and loving place for him to be and come to when things got rough. He didn't force or impose his feelings and desires on a man who clearly needed to learn to stand on his own two feet for himself and his son.
And then there was Luke. His inability and reluctance to see his own situation objectively to improve on it was a bit frustrating. That, however, was realistic because people who feel guilt for his kind of circumstances rarely see things objectively or change their outlook on it easily. I didn't like the situation or the emotional abuse, but it was realistic and there was progress near the end. He was also a good father. He tried his best not to shy away from Jason and everything he made him feel. He didn't act rashly knowing there were so many people involved in his life that had differing opinions and I respected his decision to not rush into things despite what we see as readers.
The brothers were good at first and then went downhill super fast in terms of me respecting them. Their shaming of Luke made me so disgusted! I knew stuff would happen with Dom and liked his evolution. Joe has a long way to go still. They provided more than enough drama on their own for the story and relationship, but the author had something else in mind for how dramatic things could get.
The cult stuff wasn't really expected but it was written well. It was introduced, got bigger and bigger until there was a climax and then things were resolved satisfactorily. That's an incredible simplification of the circumstances and events, but I'm having a hard time not spoiling anything by giving more detail. Suffice it to say, it was big, bad, and then with lots of help and emotionally trying patience, it ended.
This was a great read. I read and reviewed the ARC I received from the author voluntarily.
Aiden Bates adds another great story to the Silver Oak Medical Center series - Luke and Jason completely stole my heart! A great second chance romance mixed with a gripping story line definitely make this a great read!
Jason and Luke loved each other when they were young, but as with many young relationships they didn't last. Life has brought them back together though, Jason now a corporate lawyer for Silver Oak and Luke works for the hospital in the palliative care unit. Jason has always loved Luke and wants him back! Luke feels the same way about Jason, but he's a divorced, single father living with his brothers. He lacks confidence and is pushed around by his brothers, who think they should have a say in how Luke lives, and that includes who he dates. Caleb, Luke's son is an amazing boy despite being picked on at school and often times belittled by his uncles.
I adored Luke and Jason together, the way Jason cared for Luke and Caleb both, especially the way he always stood up for and protected Caleb. Absolutely made my heart melt. Luke and Jason definitely have an undeniable connection and love for each other, but unfortunately it's not that easy to rebuild a life together. There is a fanatic religious group creating drama at the hospital, Luke's lack of confidence in himself and being in a relationship and more standing in their way.
There is a great mix of romance and drama in this story and it made for a fun read! I loved the relationship between Jason and Luke and their refusal to give up. I do think Jason is a new favorite of mine among Aiden's characters, he has a wonderful heart and is just so fierce when it comes to loving and protecting his family. They had to fight for their happy but Jason, Luke and Caleb are a wonderful family that made my heart so very happy! I am already looking forward to reading whatever is next from Aiden!
*I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
I actually liked the story arc but omg, Luke grated on my nerves!! Also, I think Jason is a saint for being so patient! I mean, I can understand the logic behind his patience but I wouldn’t have been as understanding as him.
The characters in this series are well thought out, even though they’re not all angels. I respect that about the author actually because it’s not easy to be writing so many different characters and make them unique.
It was nice to see previous characters around but they don’t make much appearance, which I’m conflicted about. On the one hand, I wish we saw more of them because I liked them in previous books. But on the other hand, it would take the spotlight away from the MCs of the book if that happened. I suppose the ratio is pretty balanced as it currently stands.
I'm a sucker for a love story and Aiden Bates delivers a love story a beautiful love story every single time. In this case we have two men who have suddenly found each other again after many years. They were boyfriends at age 15 and haven't seen each other for a long time. I especially love Jason one of the main characters, legal counsel for the hospital. When we talk about flawed characters Jason is not one of them. He consistently put the needs of other people before his own. Luke, on the other hand, palliative care nurse practitioner who is a wonderful patient caregiver but seems to always be playing the submissive role in his family. These two, Luke and Jason, have many obstacles to overcome, within the relationship and the community but as I said before, Aiden Bates always provides a satisfactory happy ever after.
The Silver Oaks series keeps getting better and better. I have been a fan of Aiden Bates' writing style since the first book I read from him. This is my favorite so far. Luke and Jason are each others' first love and first kiss - as teenagers. After 20 years apart, Luke is now divorced with a child and a problem ex. Jason sees him and the past disappears for him. He has measured every man in his life against his memories and they just didn't measure up. The Luke he meets now is far above what he has remembered and he embraces his son, Caleb, and treats him as his own. Unexpected pregnancy, disapproving family, and let's not forget the angst and challenges at work. I do not want to say anything else and give things away. This is a can't-put-it-down, better plan the time, love it type of a book. Enjoy. ❤️
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
What a gripping and gritty plot to this book. This book starts out as a friend's who meet again and find an attraction but the twists and turns in the plot gets your blood pumping and your interest pinged. It's well written and easy to read. Aiden Bates writes a great romance. Luke has very little self confidence and takes on all family members problems. His ex husband always made him feel like it was always at fault and his brother's he now lives with take him for granted. When he meets Justin again he feels the attraction. They are working together after the hospital Luke works at needs the help of a lawyer. They start a relationship but outside interference and Luke's self doubt don't make for plain sailing. This was an exciting, interesting read and I can't recommend it strongly enough. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
Where to begin with this review. This book was so emotional at times that I had to set it down for a few minutes. Luke deserved to find happiness, not only for himself but for his son Caleb also. Jason to me was perfect from the get go. The chemistry and love between these two could be felt from the pages. Jason treated Caleb like his own, and let me tell you that was very heartwarming. These three deserved each other and the love between them all was very awe inspiring. I absolutely loved the ending. If you are looking for a book that is emotional, hot and awe inspiring look no further. One click today. Just remember love is love no matter what.
I volunteered to read an Advanced Readers Copy of this book..
I'm really enjoying this series! This book is definitely my favorite so far. Jason was pretty perfect and once Luke grew a backbone, I really enjoyed him. I can't wait for the next book in the series!
Not the best book I've read lately but also not the worst. I found the writing a little awkward in places but the overall story was really good. Loved the second chance aspect of this romance and adding dogs and kids never hurts IMO. It also had a lot of drama with the religious zealots suing the hospital with both Jason and Luke being involved in. Not to mention the drama involved with Luke's drunkard ex and all his BS. Jason really loved Luke's son Caleb as well and was just the perfect guy overall. Sweet story with enough going on to keep in interesting.
My favorite Silver Oak Medical Center book of the series thus far. Initially I was disappointed that the series would be coming to the to an end after the next story. Then surprisingly a fifth / first book was released, INFECTIOUS LOVE.I'm happy but confused. Anyway getting back to this wonderful book. It was long, detailed, and I loved every sentence.
Catching up on the other medical personnel from previous books was nice, but a favorite character, Jason Delancey, a champion for others came forward as a main character to help a newly introduced Nurse Practitioner in the Palliative Care, Luke Reznik. In my college Nurses receive their Masters in Family Nurse Practitioning, so it was a bit of a surprise to find that the Nurse Practitioners in this series all had a PhD. Though more often than not when I go for a doctor's visit I end up actually being seem by the Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
I love stories about Single Fathers. So this story immediately captivated me. Then there was the tough but caring General Counsel for the Silver Oak Medical Center with his sharp wit. Who at first was not liked because he came along with the Regent's Corporation new team with all their many unsettling changes &financial cutbacks. Learning new things is always a bonus when reading for pleasure. Palliative Care was a new phrase to me. I had only heard of Hospice Care. It was very interesting how the author set up the contrasting viewpoints from an militant set of religious zealots led by a self-proclaimed messiah misquoting the true meaning of biblical scriptures. Versus the compassionate, empathetic staff of the Palliative Care unit. These medical personnel were entrusted with the last days of a beloved family member who had already made a very tough decision, along with the guidance and support of experienced medical professionals committed to reducing the suffering of all involved.
Jason Delancey came involved when the Palliative Unit was hit with a lawsuit by the zealots. He became more determined when he met the divorced Dad Of such a great kid like, Caleb. The author has a way of developing his characters in a manner that you feel invested in what happens to them. Luke Reznik turned out to be Jason's high school crush from Ohio, where the Regent's Corporate headquarters is located.
Jason has found those feelings haven't gone away, instead they have intensified as he reacquaints himself with this new Luke. A man who had been terribly hurt along with his son by a drunkard ex-husband. And if that weren't enough Aiden Bates threw a Golden Retriever Rescue that Luke and his two brothers run. What could be better? It's like hitting the trifecta!
Not only has Luke found his knight in shining armour, but Caleb has discovered a man he would be proud to emulate, unlike his deadbeat dad. But the course of true love is never easy and there are enough monkey wrenches thrown around in this book to full a large Sears Craftsmen tool box.
This couple faced so many obstacles, it was easier to give up than persist. What made it especially difficult is that the people who were supposed to have his back were the ones fighting hardest to keep Luke and his son from being happy. School bullies, brothers, zealots, well meaning friends, frustrating fathers, dogs needing care, lazy dependents, uncaring school personnel, and murderous psychopaths bent on destruction & chaos and of course mpreg.
2.5 stars. If you have read any of my previous reviews of Silver Oak Medical Center, you can guess how this review is going to go. Downhill for the most part. The interesting take on this one is they are not really young and Luke, the omega, already has a son and there are lots of dogs. The other take is that Jason is the Lawyer for the Center and Luke is a Nurse Practitioner, no doctor as a main character. Luke has two brothers that do their best to keep Luke subsidizing their existence and making sure he realizes what his sinful life has done to them and his child. Jason to the rescue! Jason spends the book trying to give Luke his son, Caleb a loving home with a couple of dogs. All the while fighting this conspiracy theory cult in their frivolous lawsuit against the Medical Center. Personally, I think Mr. Bates does a better job of medical jargon than legal principals, theories and jargon. The medical stuff seems more believable than the simplistic sounding legal issues. There were less overt Strong Alpha and Weak Omega themes, the same amount of so so sex and a little less "woe is me" omega doubting that the alpha loves him. The other book characters are populated into the story as well. All turns out well in the end.
I have read the first three books in this series and loved them all, however this is my favorite by far. I loved Jason and Luke, and Caleb is a wonderfully written child. What made this book so amazing for me was how loving Jason was to Luke, and how communicative the couple was.
Too often I read books where problems could be solved if the characters would just TALK to each other. Not so in this book. When Jason and Luke have a problem, they talk about it. Even Luke, who is understandably hesitant, talks to Jason. Moments when he hesitates had me cringing, waiting for him to clam up, but it never came. I was so happy to see him share his thoughts and fears.
Dom and Joe are real pieces of work. I couldn't stand them most of the time because of how controlling they were.
One thing I noticed was how downplayed the Omegaverse seemed to be. Sure there were talks of omegas, however I don't think the word Alpha was used even once. This was confusing for me because it was a very strong element in the first book. It wasn't mentioned much in the second, either.
Okay, I LOVE this one! Like, really, really love it :P
The storyline is full of suspense and intrigue, the characters are fantastic, and the romance, oh! the romance is perfect in its imperfection!
Luke is such a great character! He's strong, hard-working, responsible beyond his due and dedicated to his son. And yet, he is convinced that he can't trust his judgment. I can understand why he thinks this. It enrages me, yes, but I can see from where he is coming. Abusive ex, a family less than supportive (and more than a bit abusive, too) can do this to any person. Adding that he is, to all effects, a single father, well... he doesn't have it easy.
I adore how Jason understand this, and does his best to support him without taking Luke's agency. To be there for Luke and Caleb without being overbearing. Patient and loving, all the time.
Their romance is rooted in the past, but it is in the present when it flourish and becomes real. It's beautiful.
And the whole cult thing was really well presented and creates a very compelling storyline.
Without hesitation, this is, so far, my favourite on the series.
And David Loan did a superb job with the narration.
The Silver Oak Medical Center is the site of a Palliative Care wing. Religious zealots file a suit asserting that Silver Oak was not giving their patients all of their options. The steps that this cult like group go to is to say the least fanatical, if not outright terrorist tactics. Jason Delancy is the General Counsel for the Medical Center. When he enters the room for a meeting on the lawsuit Luke Reznik, a nurse practitioner in the Palliative ward sees his first love! The trials and tribulations that they go through with the lawsuit and their own relationship make this book a page turner. As usual Aiden Bates' writing is exceptional, the plotlines are complex and twist and turn as the novel unfolds. The characters are well developed and their personalities are explored in depth as their story is revealed. Five stars! I can't wait for Allen's story revealed in the teaser first chapter.
Kept me wondering throughout book - that is a good thing!
This is the third book in the Silver Oak Medical Center series. It could be read as a standalone but it was nice to catch up with the guys from Deliver Me and Playing Daddy. Enough info about them was given so you knew how they fit in, but if you'd read the previous books, it made the story richer.
Although I usually adore Mr Bates' books, this one was special because it had a lawyer and a pallatative care nurse as the main characters. I've gone through the hospice process with both my parents so really could appreciate how well it was written by Mr Bates. And then there were the protesters and kidnapping thrown in the mix. All in all, a very exciting Storyline and extremely satisfying HEA.
An entertaining story with charming characters and a lot of heart. Honestly, this is by far my favorite in this series so far, and it was a pleasant read, BUT, it is very rambling and unnecessarily long. I know that Kindle Unlimited authors get paid by the page read, but some of the rambling felt almost insulting to the reader, as the same internal conversations played out repeatedly, and the bl0w-by-blow of their daily routine in some chapters felt wholly unimportant to the plot or character development. Overall still a wonderful story, but a good (and very aggressive) editor would do WONDERS to this book, as is the case with the rest of the series.
This is a compelling story. As the title suggests, family is at the heart of it...whether by blood or by families that are made. Then we can add a gripping plot that kept me in its thrall from start to finish. As with Book 2, Playing Daddy, omega Luke has to find the strength to overcome all the difficulties in his background before he can find real happiness. Lawyer Jason is so sweet and always supportive of both Luke and Caleb. How he is with Harvey is the icing on the cake.
I particularly enjoyed the turnaround in attitude of Dom. From copying oldest brother Joe, he finally develops his own opinions that he isn't afraid to voice. I was hoping that he had a book of his own, but I couldn't find one.
*I voluntarily reviewed an ecopy* I loved the story of Luke and Jason in the fact that 1st loves can be in fact your happily ever after. I liked the subplot of Jason having to deal with a extremist religious group and that Luke had to deal with a low life ex and homophobic family members. The love that Jason and Luke had was beautiful and I loved the scenes between Luke's son and Jason. Blood is not important when it comes to giving love to another person. I think this was my favorite book out of all the series. And I look forward to the next book and hope it is between Don and Allen. *I voluntarily reviewed an ecopy*
OMG!!! This story between Jason and Luke was exactly the BEAUTIFUL, TOUCHING love story that Aiden Bates is FAMOUS for. Caleb was the ABSOLUTE JEWEL of the plot. I laughed, cried, shouted about injustice and chewed my nails down to the quick. This was an INCREDIBLE experience for my heart to read and I loved every minute of it. Also the Bonus Chapter is such a gift at the end of your books. Thank You. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK AND THIS INCREDIBLE SERIES!!!!! These books can easily be read as a stand-alone. BUT this truly is an amazing affordable series.
So I don’t know how to rate this story I mean is terms of drama shits real but I was reading it as a romance and there really wasn’t much of it. I didn’t get the vibe that the love was deep I mean, they said I love you and we’re willing to live to together and be married but where did that come from. I think the story began when they were kids and it would have been better if it started from that point and then jumped to the future. But none the less it was exciting and kept me interested

Family Law is the third book in the Silver Oak Medical Center series by. Aiden Bates. This is a sweet second chance romance with the bonus of being an mpreg. It has drama, steam, humor and sweetness. There are adorable kids and dogs, a supportive and protective Alpha, a strong and capable omega and great supporting characters.
I loved this.. it had a bit of almost everything in it.. dogs. brothers.. people who suck. plus the two lovers who lost each other so long ago and have to fight to have each other again..plus a kid which is always fun to throw into the mix.. i loved this and i am so glad i got to review it
4 stars because it ended good. I really liked Jason, but I hated the begining and the brothers so much I wanted to stop reading...but I powered through and it was oodles to see the brothers change, but Ugh! Ended good.
As a standalone title, this was great. As the third in a series, it was excellent and the best one so far. Harvey was a sweet additional MC, as was Caleb. Though I greatly prefer pets over kids. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.
