A serial killer texts his victims first. A detective vows revenge. He comes after her.

In the chill of an October night, Detective Kerri Blasco is called to a bizarre murder scene. Leda Winfield, a young volunteer for the homeless, has been shot. Her cell phone displays the frightening text, WATCHING YOU, and into her back, hideously pushed with a hat pin, is a note with the same awful message. Leda's socialite family and friends insist that no one would have wanted to harm her, but Detective Kerri isn't convinced.

Until another random young woman is killed in exactly the same way. Kerri and her team profile a monstrous killer who enjoys terrifying his victims before stalking and killing them. But how does he get their phone numbers?

Kerri soon finds that the killer is after her, too, and that the key to finding him may just be in the homeless shelter. When the body count rises, she vows to stop the madman - even if it means battling her own personal trauma, risking her job, her love relationship with her boss Alex Brand, and her life.

When a young Leda Winfield was murdered in the dark of night, not far from her home, Detective Kerri Blasco was drawn into a horrific and brutal case where the murderer stalked and tormented his victims; the words WATCHING YOU texted to their phones just before the attack. Leda was a volunteer at the local Mission where the homeless congregated – she was a friendly person everyone liked. But quite obviously, not everyone…

Frustration for Kerri, her partner Detective Alex Brand and the team was mounting – they had suspects, but it was all circumstantial. Then a second young woman was murdered, this time in broad daylight – the same message proving it was the same sadistic killer. But worse was to come when Kerri herself was targeted. The pressure was mounting – the fear of the public as well as the police that the killer would continue to kill meant Kerri was frantic. Her suspicions and instinct had proven right in the past – but could she trust her tired and scrambled brain this time? Would they catch this madman before it was too late?

Watching You by J.A. Schneider is the third in the Detective Kerri Blasco series, and another gripping, fast paced thriller. Twisted, intense and enthralling, I enjoyed the interaction between Alex and Kerri; the Mission and their kindnesses to the homeless; the overall feel of the story. Highly recommended.

With thanks to the author for my digital copy to read and review.

The third book is a fantastic addition to the 4 book series, I had somehow skipped from the 2nd to the 4th book. This can easily be read as a standalone.

Love the fast pace with short chapters and modern methods the killer uses. It is frighteningly easy for someone can find out everything about you, just from the internet. Where you live, your phone number, nothing is safe anymore. Even people who think they have taken precautions and are safe, can be just as vulnerable.

A cleverly written mystery, with a sensational ending that you will not guess. It also gives a good balance between her professional and personal life. I loved the way there are chapters dedicated to the killer, so you know what their thought processes are, but no real clues.

Detective Blasco is back for another adventure in the world of crime. Kerri and her boss, Alex Brand are called out to investigate the murder of a young woman. Leda Winfield worked in a homeless shelter and seems that everyone loved her ... well, almost everyone.

Leda has been shot in the back of the head. There is a small sign pinned to her back with a hat pin. what's written on it is WATCHING YOU. What's even scarier is the exact same message texted to her cell phone shortly before she was killed. The message .... WATCHING YOU.

When another young woman is killed in exactly the same way, Kerri and her team get a glimpse of a heinous killer who isn't going to stop anytime soon.

And then the killer turns his focus on Kerri ......

This is an excellent addition to the series that features on Detective Blasco. I like the balance between her professional and personal life. The mystery is very cleverly written. The ending is sensational .. I never would have guessed the ending.

Although part of a series, this works very well as a stand alone. I still recommend starting at the beginning just so as to not miss the clever character development.

5 Stars for the Series ... 5 Stars for Watching You

Many thanks to the author who so graciously allowed me to read and review this book. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

It wasn't my kind of story.

Read all the reviews and decided to download this book. When I find another female author I didn't know, always like to try reading their books. Not many of them write mystery/thrillers, but definitely this psychological thriller wasn't my kind of story.

"Watching You" by J. A. Schneider

My Thoughts......

Another good thriller mystery read 'Watching You' that I thoroughly enjoyed the read! This novel is a third in this series.. 'Detective Kerri Blasco' which can be read as a standalone read. This thriller mystery will get Detective Kerri Blasco involved with three murders..Leda Winfield, Tricia Simms and Patrick Vale. However there will be a little twist in this read as these bizarre murders will involve Detective Blasco personally. I loved how this author was able to bring in information about the homeless as the reader will see from the read. This will be a case with lots of twist and turns as this murderer is texting to his victims 'WATCHING YOU' on their cell phones. Now, how will this be done? It will be quite a case of 'cat and mouse' but Detective Blasco will not give up...'even if it means battling her own personal trauma, risking her job, her love relationship with her boss Alex Brand and her life.' I don't want to spoil it for you other than to say if you are in for a good mystery thriller ...pick up "Watching You" to see how well this author gives to the reader another good story as Detective Kerri Blasco brings it all out front and center.

Thank you to the author for a early read of your novel for my honest thoughts of the read.

JA Schneider's Watching You (Dectective Kerri Blasco #3) managed to shook and surprise me until the very end. I have read the previous Kerri Blasco books but again I had no idea who the perpetrator and I was really trying to figure out it was. I was no where close to solving that mystery. This book draws you in and has you turning the pages (or swiping) as fast as you can to find out what will happen next and who done it. I was not disappointed and love the way Ms. Schneider weaves her story and cloaks it in darkness and intrigue.

J.A. Schneider's 'Her Last Breath' was one of my top reads of 2016, so I've been eagerly waiting for the author to write the next Kerri Blasco book ever since. Now that I've read it, I can confidently say that the author has done it again. 'Watching You' is a top-notch chiller!

"Everyone loved Leda."

Yes, everyone... except her killer. This young woman, known for her kind heart and altruism, is murdered in cold blood one night in a dark alley. Despite coming from a well-respected, wealthy family, Leda chose to live and work as a volunteer among the homeless, providing them with food and clothes through the local City Rescue Mission. So who would do such a horrible thing to her? Why?

The girl has been shot at point-blank and a note with the words 'Watching You' has been cruelly pinned to her back. The same note is also found in her phone, having been texted to her two days previously. Kerri is affected badly by this case and together with her boss (and secret lover) Alex Brand immediately starts the investigation, vowing to bring this killer to justice. But with no leads, trace evidence and reliable witnesses, and with countless people having access to Leda's phone number, the investigation soon hits a brick wall. Her killer could be anyone!

When another woman is killed in the same way with the same note thumbtacked to her back shortly after, Kerri and Alex find themselves back to the drawing board, starting from scratch and on a desperate race against time to try and stop this monster from killing more innocent victims. Will Kerri catch this killer before more victims are made? Well... she must first escape his clutches herself!

Schneider has once again pinned me to my kindle with "a crazy, complicated, too many suspects, where to start case" - just my kind of book - a totally gripping, chilling, intriguing thriller. She has drawn up a tense, fast-paced read that literally kept me on the edge of my seat. I found myself devouring huge chunks of the book per sitting, all the time trying hard to ignore the chill running up and down my spine.

Though third in a series, this book can very well be read as a standalone. The plot is brilliant, well-thought out and peppered with twists and turns throughout. And with numerous hints planted here and there by the author my curiosity was kept high at all times. I wanted to know who the killer was, who the next victim will be, how will it all end.

All characters are realistic, flawed and suspicious, and like New York City's sights and sounds they're brought to life in vivid colour. I just love Kerri, haunted by her painful past and hiding her secret love story with the equally likeable Alex. These are both unforgettable characters I wish to meet again and again in future books.

Chapters from the pov of the killer are just disturbing. I was amazed by the ingenious way the killer worked his way from one victim to the next. Well done Ms. Schneider! What a brilliant idea! The author has given life to a demented psychopath who enjoys killing people and taunting the police right under their noses. He's diabolically clever, capable of striking anywhere and anytime and loving nothing more than making the headlines. I can say that I was left open-mouthed when the killer's identity was finally revealed.

This is another fantastic addition to the series. I really enjoyed it and am already looking forward to the next one. Highly recommended!

With thanks to the author for an ARC of this book which I voluntarily accepted to read and review.

Wow, well what can I say. Another brilliant book by J.A. Schneider. I thoroughly loved the last outing of Kerri Blasco and I loved this one too.

Watching You is extremely modern and fast paced with short chapters and something always happening. The technology and things that are going on in the world around the main story are all incredibly up to date.

Things that happen in Watching You are the kind of thing that terrifies me today, how easily someone can find out everything about you, just from the internet. Where you live, your phone number, nothing is safe any more. This is all used incredibly well throughout and shows just how even the people who think they are safe are just as vulnerable.

Kerri Blasco isn't your typical main female character who is all singing, all dancing and all ass kicking, she has her own issues and is incredibly emotional. But she's no shrinking violet and can easily look after herself, it's just nice to see a character that is more balanced and having traits from both ends of the spectrum.

I flew through reading this and kept wanting to read "just one more page" because I needed to know who was doing the killings and why! Even though we meet the killer right from the get go, J.A. Schneider kept me guessing right to the end as to who the culprit was. There were so many red herrings and evidence that would fit for a lot of people, which I feel is very realistic, that I couldn't guess who it was.

Overall an excellent book and I'm already looking forward to the next book in the series!

Detective Kerri Blasco has a sicko killer to hunt down, but she soon learns that this one has come up with a tactic for selecting victims that will leave even the most seasoned cops a bit green around the gills. The author has written another read through the night thriller, putting her protagonist in the direct line of fire.

Thanks for the early read, Ms. Schneider, and for the special price on a pre-order eBook copy.

I confess that I was prepared to hate this book, having just finished reading Fear Dreams, J. A. Schneider’s clumsy copycat version of the popular movie What Lies Beneath.

So in contrast to her earlier Fear Dreams, I was pleasantly surprised to find Watching You a decently written, though derivative thriller, earning Ms. Schneider a respectable three stars. To her credit, her manuscript was relatively free of editorial errors. I counted four minor ones, and two which were not so minor.

A young, idealistic woman from a rich family is brutally murdered in the Bowery neighborhood of New York City where she worked at a homeless shelter. The serial killer diabolically texts his prey with the ominous message Watching You (in caps) and pins that message to their bodies to taunt the police. Naturally he is targeting the female detective investigating the case as his next victim. This plot pretty much echoes the dozens of books which have appeared like clockwork ever since The Silence of the Lambs did it first and better decades ago.

Ms. Schneider describes her book’s climactic twist as “mind-bending.” I call it contrived — and I call her self-promotional description “wishful thinking.” But either way, Watching You was a nice piece of conventional entertainment.

By the way, the readers who claim to have figured out whodunnit before the end are full of themselves — and full of something else too. They may have “guessed” who the killer was based on no evidence whatsoever, but they couldn’t have figured it out, because unfairly or not, Ms. Schneider withholds a piece of vital information to the very end which is necessary to identify the real killer.

Full disclosure – I was provided an ARC of this book by the author but voluntarily chose to write a review.

Cyber Stalking murderer

“Watching You” is the newest installment in the Detective Kerri Blasco thriller series by J.A. Schneider. Blasco is a New York City cop who has seen more than her share of bad stuff, so when she is called to the scene of yet another murder in the Big Apple, it’s business as usual. Arriving at the scene, what awaits her is the stuff of nightmare. A wealthy, well liked, socially conscious young woman has been callously murdered. Shot execution style with a single bullet to the base of her skull the team has very little to go on. With nothing taken and no prints to aid in identifying the murderer the team has only two similarly shocking clues. Pinned into her back as if she were a human bulletin board is the eerie message “WATCHING YOU” while a recently received text on the victim’s cell phone also displays this chilling text message. The investigation takes Kerri and her partner/boss Alex all over the city; from the upscale surroundings of her parent’s home, the semi renovated home/gallery of her paraplegic ex fiancée to the homeless mission where the deceased spent so much time helping those less fortunate, Kerri and Alex work tirelessly to get a break as more bodies are discovered. When the killer sets his sights on Kerri, the situation becomes dire. With time running out, the team must apprehend the culprit or his next victim may be Detective Blasco.

Having not previously read the first two books in the series, I was a little concerned that I would be at a disadvantage with previous plot quirks or character back stories. I was surprised to find that while technically the third book in the series, “Watching You” is written in such a way that it can be read as either a standalone novel or part of the larger series. The pace is fast as we jump immediately into the mind of the killer and witness the murder of Leda Winfield through his eyes and within his thoughts. As the witnesses start to come forward, clues and theories take shape, and bodies pile up, it was clear that this was not going to be an easily closed case. At the climax of the book, I caught myself almost yelling “you’ve got the wrong guy!” as the killer’s identity became more and more obvious to me. I feel also compelled to note that the characters, whether they be suspects, witnesses or members of the force were written is a way that made them believable and easy to picture. In fact, there wasn’t a character in this book that I did not believe. Some authors tend to lean toward stereotypes when writing certain characters or situations, I did not see that with Watching You.

Another item of note that really stuck out for me was Schneider’s focus on Leda’s activism and assisting at the homeless mission. The mission scenes and the welcoming atmosphere depicted put a compelling face on a problem that is far too prevalent in our world today. I love how Kerri also spends a fair amount of time at the Mission during her investigation, which reminds the reader that while often forgotten or faceless, those who are struggling in their situations are people too and often have much to contribute.

All in all, a great read and one I am sure to revisit again in the future. While “Watching You” was my first read by this author, I am sure it will not be my last.

Watching you is the third book in the Detective Kerri Blasco series and wowsers this series just gets better and better. I loved the first two but OMG this one is even better…..I freaking loved it.

The story starts off with one hell of an opening describing the murder of Leda Winfield that was it for me I was hooked. Detective Kerri Blasco is called to the murder scene with the message saying WATCHING YOU displayed on Leda’s phone, her family insist that no one would want to harm her. Then another young woman is killed in the same way. So the killer scares and stalks them first but the question is… how does he get there number? Before long the killer is after Kerri and we see a how it affects of her personal life. The author has done a brilliant job of mixing it up so we get a bit of everything in this story.

Kerri’s character has grown so much since I met her in Fear Dreams the first book in the series. I really feel like I know her now. And she is a very likable character that I can relate to.

This is one seriously cold and twisted killer and the author certainly knows how to keep you on the edge of your seat. With descriptions that made me squirm…...LOVE IT!

With the story alternating from the killer's point of view to the investigation I couldn't read it fast enough each chapter leaves you hanging and wanting more. With an OMG ending I certainly wasn't expecting that.

I will say that although this is a series, Watching You works well has a standalone but it is too good a series not to be missed.

This is one fast paced gripping story that I highly recommend giving it 5 massive stars.

This book is my favourite in the series so far. Kerri Blasco is evolving as a character, we see different sides of her in each book as the series go on and they all fit perfectly, so she stays true to herself as she was described in the first novel.

The killer in this book is the most sinister of them all, picking his victims seemingly at random and stalking them before murdering them. There’s something about stalking that gets under the skin, and Schneider uses it to its creepiest extent, something that chilled me to the core.

In this novel, her portrayal of the first victim really made an impression on me. Leda was a young woman from an affluent background who chose to live in a modest apartment and work with homeless people – this wasn’t then riddled with scandal or hypocrisy, she stayed a good character who was in the wrong place at the wrong time. I think the cynicism gets me down when seemingly generous and good characters turn out to be selfish and flawed all the time, sometimes it’s just nice to let someone be…. Nice.

This series is perfect for readers of crime thrillers, especially those looking for well written female characters (so rare in this genre) and strong plots.

I just love this author and her books! "Watching You" like her other books is so cleverly spun together, red herrings completely caught me unawares. I did suspect who the bad guy was, but then thought "No, it can't be..!" Such a clever spin to keep her readers guessing and enjoying. I loved the continuing "secret" relationship of Kerri and Alex, they work so well together as colleagues and lovers. A very creepy read which I loved from beginning to end. I highly recommend you read the entire works of J A Schneider, you'll love them too.

This is the 3rd book in the Kerri Blasco series and the second one that I have read and I have found a new favorite detective. Kerri is a stubborn but caring detective who trusts her gut and her smarts to get the case closed.

I loved this book as much as I loved the other book I read in this series. They are each different and don't cover the same crimes over and over again like some series do.

Watching You begins with the internal ramblings of a psychotic murder, and it doesn’t take long for him to hone in on his seemingly first target: Leda Winfield. When Kerri and Alex make the scene, Kerri is sickened by what greets them. As their investigation begins, they discover that Leda was a person whom everyone loved and had a heart as big as the sprawling city in which she lived. It also doesn’t take long for the killer to strike again. As things escalate, Kerri soon finds herself the target of the crazed killer. She knows that they are running out of time and as they search desperately for any and all clues, Kerri finds herself face to face with the killer……….and time is running out.

Watching You is another nice addition to the Detective Kerri Blasco series. In this installment, we get to find out a little more of her back story and see a little more of her relationship with Alex. Schneider ramped up the suspense factor in this one and I loved seeing how it all played out. The characters were well written and as the scenes played out, I felt that the world she is building with this series is coming into its own. I love Kerri’s heart and determination to not bend when she knows something isn’t right and stands her ground. Alex is a great partner for her, both personally and professionally. The characters who make up the suspect list were well written as well. So well written that when I “knew” who the killer was, I was proved very wrong! Once again, if you’re a fan of suspense, you can’t go wrong with this series. Well done, J.A. Schneider!

One of my favorite things is to find a new author's first book and continue reading her books as they are published which is exactly what I did with the works of J. A. Schneider. Her books snag you on the first page and don't let go until the very end. What I find most interesting is a writer's development from one book to the next. The good ones stick with what works and develop within their own framework. Schneider is one of the good ones.

J. A. Schneider's framework revolves around maniacal, misogynistic, serial killers. She evokes a bit of THE FIRST DEADLY SIN, by Lawrence Sanders, a book I read years ago that has always stuck with me as a non-whodunit. You, the reader, get to follow the killer first hand. Each encounter drops just the tiniest of clues, so you know a little more each time the killer is featured. This is a whodunit that keeps you guessing from first kill to last as to the actual identity but not the sociopathy of the murderer.

Kerri Blasco, New York City homicide detective, is the tough cop with a sad backstory. Like many good cops, she relies on instinct while sifting through evidence. Going with her gut is what she does best. She is also your basic softie, often leaving a murder scene fighting back tears for the victim. It is this balance that keeps her story from becoming just another noir outing. She has grit and determination paired with a caring soul. Kerri is a strong female lead that is both likeable and human.

I am an equal opportunity reader, probably because I read to be entertained. Yes, I read about nasty serial killers to relax. I also read lengthy tomes of horror. Any writer that can engage me and entertain me starting on page one, is worth five stars. Although you can read WATCHING YOU as a standalone novel, I would highly recommend that you start with the first Kerri Blasco book FEAR DREAMS, followed by HER LAST BREATH, and finally get to this one. I would also recommend that you check out the half dozen Rainey & Levine medical thrillers for a new take on what can happen in a teaching hospital.

Watching You by J.A. Schneider, 281 pages, RGS Media, April 25th 2017, Genre: Psychological Thriller/Suspense, ISBN: 1544767927. Warning: May Contain Spoilers.

“WATCHING YOU” says the text message each victim receives before their untimely demise. At first, it’s a mystery how the killer is choosing and tracking his prey. However, in this age of free-flowing information and cell phones, it’s much easier to stalk people than we like to think it is. A feeling of dread turns by degrees into horror as we realize how easy and plausible the killer’s methods are. Horror turns to panic as the reader realizes how difficult it would be to stop such a killer. In this third installment of the Kerri Blasco series, J.A. Schneider takes us on a trip of terror we’re not likely to soon forget.
The first victim, Leda Winfield, was a treasure to society, a lovely young woman who volunteered at the local shelter, helping the homeless. She was coldly executed with a single shot to the back of the head, a note that says “Watching You” pinned into her back with a hatpin. Nearby, the cops discover the victim’s cell phone, with a message from a few days prior showing the same words as in the note. As the detectives interview family and friends, they discover that there were plenty of people who may have had reasons to kill Leda. The stakes increase as another unrelated victim is discovered. When our heroine, Kerri Blasco, becomes the next target, the cat and mouse game has the highest stakes of them all. The story turns into a race against time as they seek the killer’s identity before he or she can take Kerri’s life.
In this phenomenal third book of the series, we learn more about Kerri’s background and gain valuable insight into her character. The relationship between Kerri and Alex Brand, her boss and lover, deepens and intensifies. Kerri considers where the relationship is heading and how that may impact her career. This decision is not made by the end of the book, but it’s something Kerri won’t be able to put off forever. The characters presented in the book were believable and interesting. Most fascinating of all, J.A. Schneider allows us inside the terrifying mind of the killer as he stalks his victims.
The plot is woven ingeniously. Usually I have figured out the mystery by the time the answer is revealed, but in this amazing new book, I was stumped. Delighted, I never saw it coming. Fast paced, heart pounding, and riveting, don’t miss out on this gripping psychological thriller. I deeply enjoyed reading Watching You. I’d recommend it to anyone who loves crime, mystery, or psychological thriller novels.

I had a hard time warming up to the characters in this book at first because I hadn't read the first two Kerri Blasco books (Fear Dreams and Her Last Breath). But once I became involved with the characters, the story line zoomed along, and I couldn't put the book down. Made me late for work one day so I could finish it! The ending didn't answer all my questions, though, so I can only give this three stars. Good book, but it could be made better with a less frenetic pace and a little bit more filler or explanation.

Detective Kerri Blasco's newest case is as strange as it gets. A young woman, well liked by everyone, is murdered. It doesn't make sense. Then the killer strikes again, and again. This killer's twist is something no one had ever dealt with before. Detective Blasco and her partner Alex aren't about to give up on solving this murder.

This thriller could have easily fallen off the front page of any newspaper. The characters are like old friends and you'll easily slide right into this story and never feel like you missed a beat. Ms. Schneider is a master of story telling. If you enjoy a page-turning-hair standing-up-on-the-back-of-your-neck type of read, this one is for you. It's out today, so go get your copy.

I did find issues. In this installment, Detective Blasco seems to have lost her power. She seems almost too sedate. There is some awkward phrasing and parts that don't read smoothly. This book seems to lack the powerful punch normally associated with J.A. Schneider books.

I gave this one 4 cheers out of 5 because although the book is good, Ms. Schneider has done better work.

This is a good book where the killer is infatuated with a detective and sends text messages. It has a decent storyline and a really good pace. I really enjoyed the book. It isn't too slow and keeps you reading and not wanting to put the book down. It follows a detective who is investigating different murders and shows it from the killers view also in parts of the books. It was interesting and a good book. If you like detective or crime books, you will most likely love this book.

Watching You is the latest in the Kerri Blasco series by J. A. Schneider. Although part of a series Watching You is a stand alone story. In Watching You the killer plays cat and mouse staying steps ahead of the police. As always Ms Schneider manages to make the reader feel they are part of the action. 5 STARS FOR SURE!

I know I always say this, but this time JA Schneider has outdone herself! This excellent read had me zipping through pages, biting my nails, up late on the edge of my seat in pure suspense. I was going back and forth between three possible suspects, thinking I had it all figured out when....nope! There was a fantastic, mind blowing twist at the end that made me breathless for more! If you enjoy stalker, modern day technology style murder mysteries, then this is a highly recommended book for any mystery buff's To Read List. WAY TO GO JOYCE!

Detective Kerri Blasco is back and she is called to the scene of the murder of Leda Winfield, a young woman who works at a local shelter for the homeless and seems to be loved by everyone. Who would want to kill this young woman. She has been shot in the back of the head with a note tacked to her back "WATCHING YOU". They also find a message on her cell phone "WATCHING YOU". Later another woman is killed in the same way and Kerri knows this is a serial killer.
Book is full of suspense and strong characters. Although this is one of the Kerri Blasco series it can be read as a stand alone novel. As all of Schneider's books the book is well written and a great read.

I really like the Kerri Blasco series. I like the stories and the twists and that I am guessing until the end. However the author’s grammar bothers me. She often leaves the object out of her sentences and it drives me batty.
Regardless, I push past it because I enjoy the stories.

A real thriller

This worth reading. Characters are good and the twist are really good. I will say I changed my mind about who was the killer at about the 45th chapter and I was right. Of course I still finished to know I was right.

You Never Know Who is Watching

A great police procedural with a female lead that's not fragile. Five possible murderers that all fit perfectly, but only one is it. Murder victims shot in the head with a note saying "watching you" pinned to them. Kept turning pages to see if I guessed right (I didn't).

A dead girl from a rich family, a menacing text message, and a taunt tacked to the still-warm corpse with a hatpin. With an ever-expanding list of suspects and very little hard evidence, Detective Kerri Blasco and her partner are front and centre in the hunt for a killer, under the unforgiving glare of both a media spotlight and their superiors. With the case rousing spectres from Kerri’s past, the stress is beginning to tell, and it’s open to debate if the case will crack first - or if Kerri will.

Watching You is a gritty, fast-paced sequel in the Kerri Blasco detective series, for the first time with a plot focussing on Detective Blasco herself. J. A. Schneider’s outstanding characters and trademark twisty plotting are a combination guaranteed to pull you into the story from the first page; trying to figure out whodunnit will keep you there. This series offers an outstanding combination of mystery, psychology, and realism, and the third in the series is no exception. The desperation of the case permeates the writing, dragging you into the characters’ desperate race against time to find and stop a killer, and the character development is stellar from the protagonists right through to the smallest roles. This is a book that any readers of crime mysteries are guaranteed to fall in love with.
