First and foremost, I had a blast reading this book. And that is the reason I read.
Gage Finley is an expert salvage diver who has had a certain treasure on his heart for most of his adult life. His love for this elusive sunken fortune becomes an obsession, and before long, Gage has let it interfere with things that are most important in his life. Something I believe a lot of us can relate to. The opportunity arises for redemption, and Gage reluctantly takes one last shot at glory.
The problem is, he's not the only one that knows about this famous treasure. What ensues is a whirlwind of hunting for a life-changing fortune, murder, mayhem, and an awakening in a man of what really matters in life. The biggest problem is, that awakening doesn't come before everything he loves in the world has been put in danger.
This is a fantastic ride through a man's journey to find fortune, but just as important, discover the treasures that he already possesses.
Don't miss this adventure. JD has written a wonderful story, full of everything one could want in a fiction novel. If I could pre-order the next in the series, I would have already done it!

This is a classic tale of adventure, treasure and revenge on the high seas!
Gage Finley has long had an obsession with the wreck of the pirate ship Scavenger after he found a flintlock on the ocean floor that belonged to the captain. When more evidence turns up of the wreck he mounts a search, but an old adversary wants to beat him to it.
This is a well told story, with believable characters, an engaging story line, and a very unlikeable psychopath. The action is broken up with some nice moments of reflection and banter. If you like your fiction fast and furious, this is for you!

One of the questions asked in the book is one every reader will be thrilled to discover: Was the trail of murders and betrayals that followed this treasure worth it? This story has it all: pirates-both modern day and in days past; treasure; suspense; bad guys; thrill seekers; cover-up. And when father and daughter get together, Gage is pleasantly surprised by his daughter's resources and quick thinking. Author Dudycha wrote a suspenseful book that will keep you reading well into the night.

Treasure
Fantastic treasure hunting adventure. Non-stop action the whole book. I can't wait to read the second book. I hope there will be more books like this written by J.D. Dudycha . I highly recommend this book to treasure hunters.

Sunken treasure, and an old sea story.
A very good sea story with all of the requirements. A trip to the past including old friends,family and treasure. Well written and a tale worth reading.

An exciting tale with some interesting characters.
However, for me, the experience was spoiled by the rather simplistic style of writing and sentence construction. Something seemed to jar in my mind while reading it and the style overtook my immersion in the action.

Disappointed
Not sure what the readers that gave all the stars discovered that I did not. It was a story line, characterization, intrigue, and intensity lacking.

J.D. Dudycha does a good job of weaving a twisted and in-depth plot of adventure, remorse, regreat and redemption. Hard to put down until the end and then you are looking for the next in the series.

An enjoyable mystery, with very interesting characters. Twists and turns in the plot kept me guessing. And it is an easy read, not too much time required. Also serves as a good history lesson.

Actually a good book

This is just a personal thing, but normally books focus on one person's emotions/perspective at a time. This book jumps from character to character every other paragraph. I didn't like that.
