What a beautiful book. It felt like a meditation just reading through it for the first time. This is one I will return to again and again and do the meditating it suggests.
Nop. Prescindible.
A beautiful little book with accessible information on the breath. Would make a great gift for someone looking to find calm in their life or for someone new to exploring mindfulness.
A well-narrated and accessible guide to mindfulness and breath meditation. A bit too basic for my tastes, but I think beginners will get a lot of out this. The exercise are easy to follow, although some felt a bit hippy dippy. 2.5 stars rounded up.
small light and warm book that can be enjoyed in 10 minutes. The book is about the incredible importance of breathing on all the sires of human life.
I loved this book! It’s so simple, small, and easy to read through. And yet...it captures the essence of mindful breathing in a way that can help you now and in the future. No pretense. No complexity. Just charming, helpful, practical, compassionate simplicity.
If you want more, read “Mindfulness” by the same author and Mark Williams. But if you want to introduce mindfulness to someone, or to reinvigorate your own practice in a simple, beautiful, lightweight way, then buy this book.
With all due respect for the author (I love his other books) - this book is a rip off. It is way too short and way too basic. If you have basic knowledge about mindfulness do not spend money on this.
Also it is useless if you buy it as an ebook for kindle because the letters and too small and you cannot write on the pages where that is required because ewritting option does not exist.
It took me about an hour to read this book but I know I will go back to it again and again. A lovely little book to help you think about the breath and everything it can help you do I highly recommend this book
When beautiful illustrations marries good content, this book comes to life. I enjoyed it very much to the point I sensed a change in my behaviors after reading it, it's insane I know. Highly recommended.
I am so impressed with clear thoughts so beautifully expressed. Even though concepts mentioned in the book seem to be simple, a big effort is required to deliver them right to people's minds.
Surprisingly helpful, some of the grounding techniques are enormously useful. Definitely worth reading if you struggle with stress, anxiety or relaxation.
Another case of looking at a book and making judgements before even starting it. I dislike short books on mindfulness that tell you everything you need to know in a glib and patronising tone. I thought this was the same. Once again, maybe a pattern developing, i was wrong. This is so simple it is correct. As he says it is so simple, mindfulness. Complex yet simple. So why write 3000 pages on it? I think he has written much longer books already, also very good but for those, like me that are easily bored. However, as I have secretly known for a long time, it’s made complex to impress methinks. In fact it’s simple. Breathe. Notice what happen and then carry on breathing. I am a simple person. This suits me. Hope others who find mindfulness too complex also read this book. When I looked at £7.99 for a short book I thought it was exploitation. In fact it’s worth more. After all he does have to live, along with all others in the chain. I shall continue to read a few more longer books on mindfulness but indeed I think I’m just getting into a habit to avoid doing it. Now I am establishing a practise anyway I may just give up reading about it and just do it.....
A great book for a beginner in mindfulness. If you can though, i'd suggest buying it as a physical book, I bought an online copy and feel I never got the beauty of the illustrations. As someone who already knows the power of gaining control of your breathing it was a miss-buy but for others it will be a must-buy if new to the subject. A simple explanation of a powerful subject beautifully illustrated (sadly I never got to appreciate this properly)
3.75 stars. I fell in love with this book the moment I saw its pages. It is so beautifully made with lovely colours and graphics. Just looking at the pages is very soothing! I read it in one sitting, although this isn't one of those books that you read in one go and get over with. I will definitely be going over this book a few more times as i slowly try to adapt what it teaches into my life. It's short, to the point and well written. But I think it can only be effective if you keep going back to it as you try to learn the breathing/ meditation methods and to use it in stressful situations.
