This is a lovely little book about Francis & Amy Barrows. In the 1930's they roamed each summer in the remote coves, bays and inlets of Queen Charlotte Sound in British Columbia. They were looking for Indian art--petroglyphs or pictographs or old burial mounds with decorated boards. They would photograph these artworks and note the location and get the information to the Smithsonian, adding to their trove of information about the Haida and Tlingit tribes. During the course of their travels, Francis & Amy met and visited with Indians, loggers, homesteaders and fishermen. This book is composed of Francis' journal notes and portrays a life and a time that no longer exists but is fascinating to read about for me.
