From Israel to China to Jakarta to North Korea, Jet tackles her most demanding assignment yet, pitted against a terrorist with a master plan to destroy her country, and hunted by a triad killer bent on revenge.
Jet, a Mossad assassin has been put back to work. Something she doesn't really want to do.. a necessary evil to survive in her world. Israel is being threatened by a bio weapon attack. There willing to start World War III to stop it. This is an extremely exciting read full of action and suspense. Also, a believable scenario. Enjoyed tremendously!
Loose ends left dangling. What happened to the guy in North Korea? How did the woman end up in China? How did Jet move so freely in those countries when the evil Chinese dude had people everywhere looking for her? There were also several proofreading errors, including a dead man showing up alive in a later scene. I guess maybe I'm getting tired of the series; I skimmed through many pages of description.
I tend to have a love/hate relationship with these books, actually that isn’t quite true. I love Jet but often hate the author.
There is a poor start to the book. The author tries to introduce far too many characters and set up too many plotlines, the book jumps all over the place; Israel, Siniai Egypt, Bucharest Romania, Pyongyang North Korea, Islamabad Pakistan, the Indian Ocean, Tianjin China.
I find it annoying not just because that the story has no flow, but also because Jet has only a couple of brief walk-on parts for the first seven chapters of the book. I read these books because of Jet, not to find out how good the author is at geography.
The basic story consists of incidents all over the world involving characters I am not interested in and Jet being sent off at the last minute to complete tasks that are ill prepared and keep going wrong. So many things inexplicably go wrong that Jet is basically a ‘passenger’ through most of this book. The author must have been having a really bad time when he wrote this book, although not quite as bad as I had reading some parts.
There were a few parts of the book that I enjoyed, including the final attack against Zhao, but most of it wasn’t very good. I wonder what happened to the highly proficient agent who meticulously planned her assignments and carried them out with ruthless efficiency.
There is just one last thought about the recent books in this series, when will Jet realise that Mossad are her real enemy and why isn’t she finding ways to compromise her bosses or take them out so it doesn’t appear to be her.
Russell Blake has once again written an exciting, thrilling and a real page turner in JET - Rogue State!
The story continues with Jet, Hannah and Matt. They are in Jerusalem when they hear shots from an assault rifle. She grabs Hannah and they hide in a doorway with Matt following them.
There is a crime lord, Zhao Yaozu, who leads the triad "White Dragons" in China. Jet's assignment is to extract and interrogate him. Jet kidnaps Zhao and he's hurt as he gets in the helicopter. Zhao wants her blood - to kill her slowly and painfully.
What happens next is mind-blowing! Jet is a strong woman - she doesn't take any grief from anyone. She's the best field agent in the Mossad. Drugs, Weapons of Mass Destruction are threatening the region - will Israel launch missiles to Iran? Can Jet put it all together? Will she see Matt and Hannah again? You'll have to read to find out!!
What I love about series books (JET series) is that you follow these complicated characters as the story continues. She travels to places like Indonesia, China, South Korea and North Korea to name a few. It's a race against time - will she be too late?
When an author can create and develop characters that are strong, that you care about - that's a sign of great writing and Russell Blake is that kind of author. As a fan of the JET series - it's like getting together with old friends! Jet, Hannah and Matt are characters you root for!!
From Israel to China to Jakarta to North Korea, Jet tackles her most demanding assignment yet, pitted against a terrorist with a master plan to destroy her country, and hunted by a killer bent on revenge. Zhao Yaozu leads "White Dragons" in China. Jet extracts and interrogates him. He's hurt as he gets in the helicopter and wants to kill her slowly and painfully.
I love action, non-stop action, and fast action. Contrasting Jet to the mission and her role as "Mom" equals stark contrast. Both are incredible. While in Jerusalem with Hannah and Matt, they hear shots from an assault rifle. Jet grabs Hannah and hides in a doorway.
I started reading and couldn't stop. Adrenaline didn't either. These books keep getting better. (I have other books on my reading list, but had to push them aside to read the Jet series.)
I don’t like how he jumps all over the place chapter to chapter. If something germane was happening it would make sense, but he’s a little loose cannon in doing this. When things get going it appears a little ridiculous, with one opt on top of the next and then the next. Ok, so it’s a novel, but let’s try and be realistic. Then in North Korea, the cop being found when only a couple of hours at best went by, come on now they couldn’t find their ass with both hands. I see his reference to Otto Warmbeer in there. He writes this making it sound like the NK are mobilizing for War. She makes it out, naturally and the story gets more intense. Why does he have chapters about organ replacement? Ok, so the Mullah financies his operation through this, but totally extraneous to the book. 4
Once again Jet was blackmailed into helping people. I'm waiting for the time when Jet finally says no, when she puts her foot down and says, I've done enough and you can't threaten me any more. I have a feeling it will be a while, because while she reluctantly goes on these missions I think she secretly likes the action.
This time around it seems like each time Jet didn't have much support, that if it could go wrong it did and Jet had to get herself out and safe. It's good thing that she had the resources. I liked how she got a message to Matt, to warn him. Also, nice that at the last minute Jet figured out things and made sure that WWIII didn't happen.
Awesome!!! Female with the courage to help make it right!!
We always see and hear everything from the hero side of the story, which is always good, but this series is follows the life of young woman from her childhood to an amazing young woman. I was hunting for something new and different and to my surprise this fit the bill i read everything I get my hands on, and for a change of pace i highly recommend reading the JET SERIES by RUSSELL BLAKE.. Good read keeps you thinking all the way though.
Book 12 and we are starting to see a degree of repetition in the stories. The main difference with this book is Jet goes it alone, no family to worry about and that actually diminishes the tension of the story Not wanting to give too much away, but was she really going to fail in her mission ? However the question of would someone close to her die would have added a degree of the unknown It's still the fast paced action you have come to expect and Jet is still the ultimate spy, but it is what we have read before
Israeli secret agent Jet, currently semi retired, living with her long term boyfriend Matt, and her daughter Hannah, gets volunteered for a Mossad op in China. Kidnapping a Chinese triad boss to discover who is importing Heroin to Israel, Jet suddenly finds herself on the run after the op goes sideways. Further developments take her to Jakarta, Pyongyang, Israel, and Cyprus. Another exciting, fast paced chapter in the evolving Jet story. Recommended for action fans, and Jet devotees.
This was an intense and extremely complex story that will keep you guessing until the very end. It's horrific what certain people will do to make money or increase their power, but luckily, there are wonders like Jet who work even harder to ensure that the world is safe..... at least the fictional one. I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.
I worried I might start to bore of Jet, but this was exactly what it is supposed to be, fast, fun and a bit exaggerated. I have read them all and this was one of the smarter storylines in the series. I finished this with three hours to spare, before the release of another book about an Israeli Mossad agent that also has a Gabriel and a Levi...coincidence? Well done Mr. Blake.
Hopefully you're already a seasoned reader of the jet series by this time and inured to Blake's loquacious descriptives, multiple characters and bounding from situation to situation, so pay attention! You’ll go from Israel to China, to North (and South) Korea, to Iran, a side trip to Indonesia, and back and forth in this one!
JET again has her intended "retirement" interrupted by a diabolical plot to destroy Israel. All of her skills and cunning are required to identify and deal with the plotters, from North Korea to China to Iran. Trying to salvage a couple of poorly planned operations also presents problems. The body count, as usual, is very high.
It’s almost impossible to write a review for Blake’s imagination. He takes you on twists and turns around the globe in a frantic flight to forego unimaginable tragedy! And Jet is absolutely amazing! This is a great story that keeps you breathless page after page. Thank you for the ride!
Jet is a go get 'em girl who like to do things her own way and has a p[rocess which has, so far, kept her alive and yet she seems unable to argue her case with the Director of Mossad who seems unable/unwilling to listen to his prize asset and certainly thopse below him think little of her until they see her in action and action there is in plenty.........from the depths of China and North Korea to the heat of the Middle East Jet does her best to find answers to a threat to her country and manages to avert disaster at the last minute by convincing the Director to belive in her [and about time too].....another well written and pacey Jet adventure..........and on to the next!
OMG! I loved this book! I've read all of the Jet series so far, and really enjoyed them, but this one had me on the edge of my seat, I actually gasped out loud at some of the events that happened here. I absolutely couldn't put it down. What a ride!
I’m a big fan of the Jet and King of Swords series. This latest entry didn’t disappoint. It’s well paced and has the action and intrigue I’ve come to expect from Russell Blake.
'Rogue State' was another great addition to a fantastic series. I doubt I'll ever tire of Jet's adventures. She gets sucked back into a life she thought she had walked away from. But as with all Jet's assignments, she excels. I can't wait to read more. A great add to your tbr list.
I was somewhat disappointed in this book. It jumped all over the place. I found myself skimming most of the book. Jet made so many rookie mistakes she made me angry. Don't know if I'll read book #13 or not.
A brilliant read as always, sometimes into the early hours of the morning after not being able to put it down. Looking forward to stating the next one ( Volume 13 ), and probably more sleepless nights.
This installment of the series imagines several failed assignments involved in a suspected terrorist attack on Israel but of course Jet accomplishes everything without too many scratches and is able to reunite with her family but likely not long if there is another installment.
Jet will stop at nothing once her mind is made up. Even when she gets a bit coerced into taking a mission, she's all in. This was another great book of triumph over evil!
Russell Blake did it again. His Jet books are awesome. I hope there will be another. I have read all the Jet series. Once I start I cannot put them down.
I'm a fan of this series. "Rogue State" is another fine installment, complete with lots of as action, hat-raising situations, and plausible characters. It's a fun one.
