The guy on the train is just Marcia’s type. A face like an angel, a scent like raw honey, treats her like he has a white horse and suit of armor stowed in his messenger bag. Perfect.

Too perfect. No guy like that would be interested in prim, awkward Marcia, notorious goody-goody and a twentysomething still clutching her v-card. She’s been following rules her whole life—but somewhere, the game changed. And left her behind.

So when she meets Damien, with his rumbling motorbike, gleaming piercings, and wicked imagination, she doesn’t care that he’s the exact opposite of “her type.” Her type would never dare her into such shocking, fiendishly inventive adventures—and she can’t wait to say yes.

Yes to whiskey in the middle of a workday. Yes to letting her hands roam over his body from the back of his bike. Yes to a fling full of wild abandon and absolutely no long-term potential. Except Damien’s not just the straightforward bad boy she imagined. And as they burn through Chicago’s nights, Marcia can’t shake the fear that this happiness is just another fairy tale.

What a beautiful, sweet story. Even though I found it a little slow in the beginning and Marcia tended to whine a lot, I ended up loving it.

Jeffe Kennedy is hitting all the right notes with this series.  The first book, Last Dance, has the thrill of dating a mysterious stranger.  With plenty of “I can’t believe she did that” moments.  This book is just as romantic, but a little more fanciful.  These novellas sing to me.

Years ago, I learned an important lesson while watching an episode of M*A*S*H. (If you have no idea what I am talking about, put down your book and go find yourself access to these shows.  It is one of the longest running series in the history of television and there is a good reason why.) In this scene, Hawkeye and BJ play a horrible prank on the stuck-up and prickly Charles Emerson Winchester, III.  Throughout the whole episode, they drive themselves crazy, acting severely paranoid waiting for the retaliation, which never comes, and Charles has his revenge.  Marcia is also waiting for the other shoe to drop.  In book one, she goes behind Charley’s (her roommate) back, breaks the Girlfriends’ Code and gave away insider information to her mystery suitor.  This is making Marcia paranoid, especially regarding strange men who pay attention to her.  She meets an attractive stranger on a train, but she disregards his attention because she is sure that Charley is setting her up.  Then she meets a guy on her own...

I love the heroine’s naïveté.  Marcia still maintains a little innocence that appeals to me.  She is not jaded about love.  She’s a little shy, a little awkward. Her bedroom is Pepto pink and she loves Disney.  She has a mom who has given up on life after her father walks out.  She is tied to her mother, but she also wants to break out on her own.  She gets a dream job - an entry level position in the perfume division of Holt Industries, moves in with the Fabulous Five women, and is living a Sex in the City life without the sex because she’s a virgin.  The tone of Marcia’s interactions hits the perfect pitch.  It appeals to the part of me that wants to be both a rule follower and a rule breaker.

Perfectly in line with Marcia’s love of Disney’s princesses, there has to be a prince charming.  She literally plows into him.  He’s everything she did not know she wanted with eyebrow piercings, tattoos, and extra rings in his ears and lip.  They seem to having nothing in common, but hey, opposites attract right.  But why would this rebel be attracted to her?  You’ll have to read and find out.
So far, each story has its own twist and I am tapping my finger waiting for the next story to come out.  August seems so far away for book #3.  Can we offer you a bribe to write faster?  How about a little Whis. Key, Jeffe Kennedy?

I will confess I seriously disliked Marcia in Last Dance. She did something there that made me so angry.

Imagine my surprise when Marcia actually started to grow on me in this story.

Liking Marcia came slowly. but when it happened I was hooked. Marcia starts out as someone I didn't have much connection with: she's soft and too lost in her perfect plans to see the real world. But then she meets Damien and she is starting to open her eyes. I loved seeing Marcia's personal growth.

And Damien!
*dreamy sigh*

There are just not enough Alternative/Goth heroes who are more than the bad boy who needs a good woman to settle down. Luckily Damien is one of those yummy few. I loved how he and Marcia were together. Their romance is hot, sexy and sweet.

Of course Marcia and Damien encounter some obstacles on their way to a happy end, but you can trust Jeffe to make those obstacles interesting, while you never have to fear they won't be overcome.

All in all a delightful Contemporary Romance that I already have read several times and will reread again for sure.

My first book finished since becoming a mum. I am so glad I went for a novella! Well I did finish that audiobook but that was easier.

Enough of that. Too the book then. It was a sexy novella that even made me want to cry. Omg, NO it was NOT sad. But there was this disappointment and I went all mommy sad *eye roll* I so can not get these hormones under control. I just wanted to rage...and I can not say more cos spoilers. But arghh, rage!

Marcia is the good girl, the virgin, the one who is waiting for her prince charming. But then she meets someone who is SO wrong. And for once she just want to live. I get that. She wants to experience life and forget her rules. And he sure was sexy and so wrong that a taste would be so right.

So well duh there is passion, there is some drama. There is friendship (I so want friends like that! Well at times...*silence*) And there are 3 more women who will find love too. You do not need to have read the first to enjoy this one, BUT there was something that happened in book 1 so the tension is there and yes maybe just read in order then.

I like a novella that manages to make it believable that people can fall for each other in a short amount of time. It never felt too short.

Roztomilost. Jednohubka i v AJ. Mimochodem, těch 5* je možná primárně tou letní náladou, ale FAKT to stojí za to!
A ještě poznámka - nesnažte se uhodnout “zápletku”. Jde to, ale nesnažte se, nechte to plynout.

With a Prince by Jeffe Kennedy
Book #2: Missed Connections Series
Source: Author
My Rating: 2½/5 stars
My Review:

**THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS!!**

Holy Hell, I never thought the day would come when I disliked a Jeffe Kennedy book. I have truly never disliked one of her books so this feeling is quite new and uncomfortable for me and I don’t care for it, one bit. But alas, I’m all about the truth in reviewing so here goes . . . .

This is round two of the Missed Connections series and it picks up almost precisely where book one ended, with Charley happily dating her mister and Marcia living in fear of Charley’s revenge for her intervention into Charley’s love life. Marcia is, by far, the sweetest member of the group and often lives in what the others would consider a fairy tale world. Her room is decked out in princess pink and white, she loves the Disney princesses, and she is absolutely certain her own prince charming is out there waiting for her, all they have to do is fortuitously run into one another. Yeah, there’s more than one reason Marcia’s still a virgin and in her mid-twenties.

Over the next several days, Marcia’s life gets absolutely turned upside down. In the first place, she is approached by the single-most-perfect-for-her-man and she outright rejects his advances on the basis, he is an actor and most assuredly sent by Charley to exact revenge on Marcia for her previous actions. The serendipitous nature of the meeting, the perfection of his form and his words, his love of the Missed Connections are just too fairytale and cannot at all be real or anything other than Charley exacting her revenge. Marcia is so convinced of this, she comes barreling into the house and lets Charley have it, full force, the second she is able! Only to be told she is a terrible friend and utterly paranoid for thinking such a thing possible.

As if things weren’t already bad enough, Marcia is also faced with the new and appalling knowledge that her mother, her terminally single mother, now has a boyfriend and won’t be home for Thanksgiving. With her friendships in peril and her only family behaving most unusually, it is no wonder Marcia is all out of sorts. So much so that the very next day she accepts the offer of noontime drink from a total stranger who is, admittedly, quite handsome, but in no way Marcia’s type. Though the initial meeting ends rather badly, Marcia finds she is quite taken with this new, definitely-not-her-type man and conspires to see him again. See him again, she certainly does and no one, not even Marcia can believe how well they are suited to one another. In the wake of all the awful that has recently happened, Marcia delights in her new man and, for the first time in her life, resolves to enjoy the moment rather than obsessing over a happily ever after. Too bad there are factors in play Marcia knows nothing about that will threaten both her immediate and long-term happiness.

The Bottom Line: I have so many issues with this read and most of them revolve around Charley and her atrocious behavior. While I can appreciate Charley being upset by Marcia’s butting into her business, I can’t at all understand the lengths she goes to in order to get back at Marcia. Charley plays on Marcia’s hopes, dreams, and insecurities in the cruelest of ways with little more than an “I’m so sorry” at the end. Even more troubling is Marcia’s response to the whole affair, a few tears, a few pretty words, and a hug and all is forgiven. My final issue with this read is the whole actor playing two roles bit! For the entire read I found myself wondering what happened to the perfect bloke from the train only to find he’s been hiding in plain sight the whole time. Really? In all, I found much of this book to be somewhat ridiculous and not at all what I have come to expect from Jeffe Kennedy. With all the being said, I am not giving up on this series as the two most objectionable characters have had their say and there are three other far more likeable girls waiting to have their stories told. Additionally, this is Jeffe Kennedy we're talking about and this is literally the first book of hers I have disliked.

Needed a quick brain candy break so I grabbed this from KU, although I hesitated as the cover looks like a vampire biker story. Insecurity, virginity, roommate squabbling, and a sweet ending. Marcia grew (very slowly) on me but Gabriel was lovely. I didn't read the first in the series and that may be why I didn't enjoy Charley's involvement. 3 stars

Do you ever love a story but not know how to really describe it to someone because of it’s simplicity but complexity all in one? With a Prince by Jeffe Kennedy is just that for me. It’s the second book in the Missed Connections series, is a boy meets girl and falls in love tale, but has such a different feel and uniqueness that it is hard to put into words. For the purpose of this review, I’ll do my best.

Marcia is looking for prince charming. The handsome, All-American boy, that sweeps Marcia off her feet. She has such high standards for this prince as all innocent, little girls have. It’s just that most girls let go of that dream as they grow up. Marcia hasn’t. So when she meets light hair, blue eyed, handsome Gabriel on the train, she is thrown for a loop. Until she suspects it’s a set-up.

A little later, Damien and Marcia literally run into one another. He is the opposite of what she sees herself falling for. His clothes are all black, his hair is black with a unique style, he wears lots of piercings, has tattoos and rides a custom motorcycle. But, what the heck? He is a nice guy who wants to make up for knocking Marcia over so why not meet him for a drink? From there, things get interesting.

I love how With a Prince breaks through stereotypes and teaches us all to open our minds to love. We fall for the guy or girl who is completely unlike the one in our expectations or dreams. Our hearts guide us. Kennedy is a fabulous story teller and I always fall in love with her characters. She hooked me in from the first page of With a Prince. I thoroughly enjoyed Damien’s and Marcia’s romance as it was so sexy and sensual (fabulous descriptions of smells!) and deliciously sweet at the same time. If you are looking for a short, sexy, entertaining contemporary romance, give With a Prince a read.

I like the concept behind the series, a bunch of girlfriends who live together and have specific rules they follow to decide whether to hookup/and or date someone. Marcia is the heroine here, a woman who is keenly conscious of her weight (she's a plus size) and her virginity (still got it!) and this often puts her on the defensive. It makes it hard for her to believe that a man who approaches her on the subway, who is just her type, could really be interested in her and she ends things with him before they barely begin. Lamenting her quick decision, she soon finds herself doing things she never imagined with a man who is definitely 'not' her type at all! Damien is a pierced, motorbike riding bad boy who picks her up (literally) from a fall and makes it clear that he's interested in her just as she is. Sexy times ensue, and Marcia has to keep reminding herself not to fall for the good time guy when she should be on the lookout for marriage material - to no avail. There are some interesting plot twists in this one that I definitely didn't see coming! I liked Damien's character a lot, but had trouble connecting with Marcia due to her lengthy internal monologues and what I felt sometimes were over reactions to situations. Still I was glad to see the happy ending for this couple and look forward to reading more about these roommates!

It was the cover. I couldn't resist. Seriously...the man is hawt!

Onto the story! I was sucked into this. Started it and couldn't put it down until the end. I loved Damien. He was carefree, intense, and oh so naughty! The scenes with him and Marcia were flaming, and his dialogue made them all the more passionate. I'll just ogle the cover some more...

Marcia was wonderful. She was such a real person and someone I could relate to. While I know she wasn't that overweight, she still possessed those insecurities than most women have, but didn't obsess about them. She also ended up embracing herself, feeling empowered and sexy because he helped her feel that way. More confident in herself.

I wish it had been longer at the end. More of their HEA/HFN as I didn't want the story to end just yet. I wanted more Damien.

One thing I will mention...'hey-hey' and 'member'...but especially hey-hey'. I could not take these words seriously and they pulled me out of the moment each and every time. They didn't fit with the overall mood and they just....hey-hey? It reminds me of the chicken from Moana, lol.

Anyway! I just had to mention those, sorry! But overall, fantastic read and I absolutely loved it! It had me smiling to myself throughout.

True Sensual Pleasure

I have read thousands of romance stories from chaste to erotic. Sadly for us readers, all too often an author will focus on the mechanics of physical connection and fail to engage us in the character's full spectrum emotional and sensual experience. Ms Kennedy 's deft treatment of these aspects of the story places her work in the very top tier of romance.

With a Prince is book 2 of a promised 5 book series but it could be read as a stand alone..Excellent work with the promise of more. 5 stars for quality and yumminess

Marcia one of the five friends. She happens to be very shy and does not date. She meets a guy on the train but does not buy it. She thinks she is being set up by Charly. She meets another guy named Damien and they start to date. Really enjoyed this story. Great banter between the friends.

I enjoyed Marcia's story. The sweet innocent one so wrapped up in HEAs she can't get out of the way to make her own.

It just felt rushed. I didn’t like how she gave into the lust so quick but it’s her choice.

Full Review at: What's Beyond Forks?

Marcia has more rules than the rules established by her friends, and she follows those too. She's very innocent and dreams of her Prince Charming. It's very cute actually. Then Damien comes into the picture, and she wants to break all her rules and just live for the moment. Damien has this mystery to him. I wasn't too sure about him at first, but I figured him out before too long. Their story had this naughty cuteness to it, and I'm really enjoying the series. I love how it links the Missed Connections section of Craigslist to each story in some way. It adds a little fun.

I honestly don't know why I like this book so much. It has lots of things that are offputting to me in general :lying, protagonist who is very insecure about her weight (but spunky and funny), really fast (wildly inaccurate *4 orgasms on the first try?* I think not) sex. The characters are also a bit juvenile for my liking (at my advanced age of 40-something *snicker*) I'm quite sure I wasn't the target audience.

BUT at the same time I wish to God this had been me. My bookish, shy, *voluptuous* self could totally be Marcia (without the bloodhound nose). And Damien would have been my dream guy.

Lean, wiry muscles ✔
Black hair with quirky haircut ✔

All black wardrobe✔
Pale white skin✔

Swoon.

I have read this book 5 times in the last 5 days. Why can't I put this book down???? Wish fulfillment.

I love Kennedy's 12 kingdoms books and this contemporary romance seemed interesting. There wasn't a lot of character development and really you don't have to do much thinking. That doesn't mean it wasn't a decent read. Just means there is no greater plot than chic who follows rules meets bad boy and cuts loose and falls in love. Yeah there is a slight twist but nothing major or that you can't figure out.
Sexiness: 4 out of 5.
Pretty good read.
