A disturbing little tale that serves to highlight the horrifying consequences of objectification.
A dramatic topic for a short story, as such the twist feels rather disconnected - but perhaps this is the point.

Like Most Books From Preeti Shenoy This One Too Is Smooth Sailing Right From The Very Word Go And The Flow Is Effortless Making It An Absolute Pleasure Read. But Then You Expect No Less When A Book Has Been Authored By Preeti Shenoy. After All She Has A Reputation To Live Upto. After All, When All Is Said And Done Consistency Is What Makes Her A Bestselling Author She Doesn’t Believe In Cutting Corners Nor Taking Her Readers For Granted.
It Would In No Way Be Any Exaggeration To State That The Gift True To It’s Very Name Is Indeed A Befitting Gift From Her To All Her Readers.
Keeping The Title In Mind It’s Next To Impossible To Gather In Which Direction The Gift Is Headed In The Climax And How It Finally Wraps Up Is Something Very Few If Any Reader Can See It Coming. Almost Like A Knock Out Punch In The Solar Plexus
The Plot Of The Gift Revolves Around Nandini And Gaurav A Young Married Couple Still Very Much In Love With Each Other Even Though The Only Thorn In Their Marriage Is Not Being Able To Have A Child Of Their Own. While Nandini Is Resigned To Her Fate And Even Open To Adopting Gaurav Cannot Come To Terms But He Toes The Line For The Sake Of Nandini And To Keep The Marriage From Falling Apart.
Thus An Unwanted Almost Abandoned Baby Girl Enters The Life Of Nandini & Vishal. Becoming The Apple of Nandini’s Eyes As She Finally Feels Complete Least Aware For What Is To Soon Follow Once Her Gift-Little Arshi Falls Prey To Unseen Circumstances.
Truly A Gripping And Hard Hitting Edge Of The Seat Tale Of Deceit And What Greed Can Do. Truly The Gift Is An Eye Opener That Can Leave Many Readers Stunned And Many Others Shocked.

Nice Gripping Story. Keeps the reader guessing what's to come next.
Unexpected ending, Good Job by the Author. I gave it 4 stars because I think the story needed to be a bit longer and has no explanation or clue Regarding an important incident which I wouldn't divulge as it may be spoiler. Anyway, it's a good read for an hour or so.

The story started well and went on well too. The narration was decent and had so much potential. Then came the totally unnecessary and nonsensical twist. Almost like as if there was a desperate need to add a social issue here. Did not do justice to the story at all.

Story:-Nandini’s seemingly perfect life takes an unexpected turn when she receives a mysterious gift—one that promises to fill the void in her heart.

Review:- While the beginning captivates, the ending leaves room for improvement. Overall, “The Gift” is a 3-star read

Nandini and Guarav are a loving couple. Gaurav’s business is growing and Nandini pursues her interests. Then they adopt Aashi. What happens after that? Interesting story with a twist. Nice narration.
