One of the good ones from Hind Yugm!
This debut work consists of 10 stories. Based on modern real life incidences in India, each story has a woman lead who is not 'acceptable' to the norms of so called society.
The variations are apt - in terms of situations and circumstances, character maturity, and also in terms of age and social strata.
I loved the initial stories more. These stories are a medium to retrospect and think about the society we live in, and our own contributions in forming such a society.

Deals with these themes:
Child trafficking
Lesbian relationship
Separation and survival
Survival and separation!
Emotional Suffocation.
And a few other which are difficult to describe.

ये समीक्षा या आलोचना या ऐसा कुछ नहीं है, न ऐसा कुछ करने के क़ाबिल हूँ, बस पढ़ के कैसा लगा और किस-किस चीज़ का होना/ न होना जरूरी लगा वो बताता हूँ.
मुझे सबसे अच्छी कहानी, जैसा कि लगभग सब कहते होंगे, 'मालिन भौजी' लगी. सबसे कमज़ोर कहानी 'रूम नम्बर फ़िफ्टी' लगी. कहानियों की सबसे अच्छी बात ये लगी कि पात्र ज्यादा नहीं और सिलसिलेवार आते हैं. इससे कहानी के मुद्दे को याद रखना, पात्रों के सिरे मिलाते रहने के बजाय आसान हो जाता है. बड़ी कहानी हो, तो पात्रों का गुत्थमगुत्था जायज़ जान पड़ता है. भाषा सरल और आसानी से समझे जाने लायक है.
कहानियां औरतों से जुड़े लगभग हर उस मुद्दे की बात करती दिखती हैं जो या तो taboo है या जिसको सेंसर कर देना हम जरूरी समझते हैं, लेकिन ऐसा करना गड्ढे को आँख मूंदकर पार करने वाली बात होगी. कुछ कहानियां उपन्यासिका बनने की क्षमता रखती हैं जैसे कि "गुनहगार कौन" और "प्लेटफ़ॉर्म नम्बर दो" बशर्ते कि किरदारों के इतिहास, मनोविज्ञान, परिवेश और वो जिस जिस घटनाओं से गुजरे हैं उसको और विस्तार से बताया जाय, जोकि जरूरी-सा लगता है विषय की गम्भीरता देखते हुए.
लगभग हर कहानी का अलग विषय है और ये इंटरेस्ट बनाये रखने में मददगार साबित होता है. एक चीज़ की कमी भरपूर खली. कहानी धाराप्रवाह निकलती है, जोकि अच्छा है, लेकिन कभी-कभी ठहरकर पाठक से सीधा संवाद होना चाहिए. विमर्श, फलसफे, मनोविज्ञान, समाजशास्त्र की बातें बीच-बीच में और ज़्यादा होनी चाहिए थीं. और राजनितिक पहलू लगभग गायब रहा है कहानियों से, जिसका होना जरूरी-सा है कुछ विषयों में, जैसे कि समलैंगिक संबन्धों के मामले में. ये मेरी निजी शिकायत है. और मेरी सबसे पसंदीदा किरदार रही 'एक रात की बात' की 'ज़ुबी' और इस कहानी का सेटअप सबसे अच्छा लगा.

Some stories are good, and some seemed like old Manohar Kahaniyan told in a better way. No original story, but the writer's effort is really praiseworthy.

You might forget it if it's screamed at you, but it's hard to forget if it's whispered to you.

The stories of this book don't talk out loud, much like the women they represent, but they talk slowly and with an impact that reshapes your idea of the world around you, again, much like the women they represent.

The gist of every story is beautifully and conclusively packed up in the last two-three lines of the story!

The book surely reminds me of Heart Lamp by Banu Mushtaq. However, in this short story collection, every aspect of a woman is talked about, and talked about so softly, yet it seems to echo in the mind; the softness of the voice is overpowered with the shrillness of the intent and message.

It talks about everything from a prostitute to a pious wife, an old age woman to a young maiden, from rape to suicide, a cruel mother to a caring neighbour!

The social commentary is deep, disturbingly real, aesthetically Indian, and uttely 'human'. I just want to contain the negative aspects talked about, in the word 'human' above.

A collection of women 's predicaments


बहुत ही अच्छी लेखन शैली में लेखिका ने आधुनिक नारी की परेशानियों को पिरोया है। विकलांग जुबी द्वारा शारीरिक सुख की मांग हो या नाव वधु शिखा का पुराने सम्बन्धों पर चिंतन ,हर जगह लेखिका विचारों का मनोरम द्वन्द दिखाती हैं। यह पुस्तक हर उस पुरुष को सही राह दिखा सकती है जो महिलाओं के अस्तित्व पर प्रश्न चिन्ह लगाते हैं। यह पुस्तक संदेश है कि नारी मात्र एक भोग विलास की वस्तु नही अपितु जीती जागती भावनाओं की मूर्ति है। यह पुस्तक उस मिथक को भी तोड़ती है जो यह कहता है कि औरतें काम वासना दे भागती हैं। यह पुस्तक बताती है कि औरत भी सुख चाहती है पर थोपा हुआ नही बल्कि उसको समझकर उसके साथ मिलकर बनाया हुआ।

After seeing this book in my suggestion for a couple of times, I was a bit confused about whether I should read this book or not but after a while, I felt that this book should be read to learn new things about our half population on which this book is based on.
This book is a collection of short stories which contains the various characters of our daily life whom we don't even acknowledge in the social strata but each one of them has their own stories and own struggle.
This book is a must-read for anyone who wants to know about the other side of the picture of all those female protagonists who plays really important part in our life.

एक ऐसी किताब जो हर मर्द को पढ़नी चाहिए - दैनिक भास्कर की इस समीक्षा को देख कर मैंने किताब मंगाई
और पढ़ने बैठने पर खत्म किए बिना रुक नहीं पाया ।
किताब की हर कहानी आपको सोचने पे मजबूर कर देती है पर आखिरी की दो कहानियां मुझे खासकर पसंद आई ।

आँच अगर तेज हो तो जला देती है और धीमी हो तो बना देती है।


शीर्षक पढ के मैंने यह पुस्तक खरीदी। जानने के लिए कि ऐसी वैसी औरत मतलब कैसी औरत ।
शीर्षक ने मुझे भ्रमित किया, curiosity बढायी। किताब का शिर्षक किताब के बारे में मेरी जिज्ञासा बढ़ाता है।

इस पुस्तक में विभिन्न प्रकार की महिलाओं के बारे में 11 लघु कथाएँ हैं। हमारे समाज में उन महिलाओं के बारे में कोई सोचता तक नहीं है। लेकिन वे भी अपनी मुश्किल हालत के साथ रहते है। अपना जीवन व्यतित करती है। कोई उनकी मदद नहीं करता।
लेकिन हम कम से कम उनकी समस्या सुनकर हो ना हो थोडी राहत तो जरुर दे सकते है। अगर हमसे हो सके तो उनकी थोड़ी मदद भी कर सकते हैं। अगर हम उनकी समस्या का समाधान कर सके तो ये बहुत बडी बात होगी।

लेखिका ने इस पुस्तक को लिखकर एक अच्छा काम किया है। उन्होंने कुछ सवाल/महिलाओं के कुछ अलग उदाहरण किताब के जरिए प्रसारीत किए है। जो समाज के दृष्टिकोण से गायब हो गए हैं। या है ही नही।

A collection of 10 well-written stories, 'Aisi Waisi Aurat' is a tale of those women (and even men) who have been neglected, treated as pariahs and questioned for their morality in today's society, without ever realising what goes on in their psyche.
The writing style is brilliant and Ankita Jain beautifully conveys the nostalgia and feelings associated with an Indian in the collection. Some of the stories do seem a little implausible but even those are quite well written to make up for their flaws.

My favourite ones: Platform No. 2, Satarvein Saal Ki Udhan.

The stories cover a diversity of characters; from small towns to big, poor to middle class and young to old. Ankita Jain has added to the short but expanding list of promising new women hindi writers, who bring a fresh narrative and energy to the hindi literature. Read this slim but emotion-laden volume to see how women navigate the many facets of patriarchy and opression.

Aisi Waisi Aurat, as the name suggests, is all about women. A unique collection of short stories, it's revolves around women's life, the intricacies and dilemma of their life. They touch different aspects of relationship. Although written in a simple manner, that makes the reading smooth, certain lines/thoughts are deep and beautiful.

Overall, it's a good collection. It was a good reading experience.

औरतें या लड़कियां जो हमारे आसपास रहती है या यदा कदा आते जाते दिख जाती है, जिन्हें हम उस तरह नज़रंदाज़ करते चलते है जैसे गंगा में बहती गंदगी को! उसे सदा के लिए मैली मानते हुए, भूलते हुए की इसके उद्गम पर ये कितनी पवित्रता धारण किए हुए है। बिलकुल इन औरतों या लड़कियों को हम सदा से चरित्रहीन मानते हुए, भूलते हुए की इनके जन्म पर ये कितनी पवित्रता धारण किए हुए थी। तथाकथित सभ्य समाज की नियोजित कुंठा से पीड़ित है ये ऐसी वैसी औरतें।

औरत: हर रंग में बसी है इक दुनिया

बहुतेरे पढ़ने वाले आम होते हैं मेरी तरह, भावना से धनी और शब्दों से अपंग। जो सोचते हैं बोल नहीं पाते, बोल भी दें तो अपने ही अनुभव के साथ अन्याय होता है। अगर इस अक्षमता को क्षमा करें तो हर कहानी अंतर्मन में दबे बारूद को चिंगारी दिखाने का काम करती है। दिल का गुबार आंखों से निकलेगा.. और कुछ भी महसूस ना हो अगर तो समझिए आपको भी जमादार की जरूरत है..

स्त्री से जुड़े सामाज के ढकोसलों और बंधनों को उजागर करने की कोशिश करती ये किताब ख़ुद लिखावट की रुढियों से जकड़ी हुई है. जबरन ठूंसी गई उपमाएं, अखबारी पात्र और बनावटीपन हावी है. लेखिका ने उसी चलताऊ ढर्रे पर कहानियां लिखी हैं जैसे अखबार महिलाओं पर होने वाले अपराधों को कैजुअली रिपोर्ट करते हैं.
क़िताब की शैली भी परिपक्व नहीं है इसका कारण शायद यह लेखिका की पहली हिन्दी क़िताब होना भी हो सकता है.

The book is a collection of short stories revolving around different aspects of a woman's life. The writer has tried to include those aspects that are considered taboo or the unrealistic expectation that women are supposed to fulfill.
Really loved Malin bhouji and platform number 2. Chori hui aurat was beautifully written but I expected something more from the ending.
Overall it's well written and is a nice read.

This book by Ankita Jain is an instant classic due to its simple yet powerful storytelling and beautiful illustration of situations in which characters were endeavouring to find their path. As the title suggests many things about the content, and believe me it does justice too. After completing this book of her, I started listening to some other stories of her which were present on YouTube and her blog, and I realized how well she can knit a story about any situation and character. Her way of storytelling is different in every story, which is definitely a plus point for a writer. My favourite story from this book is “Maalin Bhauji”.

ऐसी वैसी औरत, वो औरतें जिनको हम और हमारा समाज एक ऐसे किनारे में रख देता है,जहाँ न उनका हाल पूछता है, न उनके घावों पर मरहम लगाने की मेहनत करता है।
छोटी छोटी कहानियों से भरी ये किताब,पर उनकी कहानियों की आत्माएं ऐसी है कि आपको अंदर तक हिला देगी,वो सच्चाइयां है जिनको अक्सर हम देखकर नजरअंदाज कर देते हैं।
