The Richest Cooking Competition Ever Shown on Television.
Throw together eight talented chefs, an extremely egotistical, philandering judge, a billionaire resort owner, a capable production crew, the possibility of romance and three precious kids -- put them all on a beautiful Island in the Pacific Northwest, throw in a quarter of a million dollar grand prize and you have the recipe for a funny book.
Throw in sabotage and murder, and it isn't quite as funny.
If you like your mysteries to have great characters as well as entertaining plot twists and turns, you're going to love M'lissa Moorecroft's latest book, Mary Cooked A Little Lamb, the first book in her new series, The Silver Springs Cooking Competition Mysteries.
Mary Cooked A Little Lamb, written by M'Lissa Moorecroft, is Book 1 in the Silver Springs Cooking Compettion Mysteries series. Moorecroft's cozy mystery reads like any current reality cooking show airing on television with two exceptions, Mary Cooked A Little Lamb proudly advertises it is the "richest cooking competition" with a quarter milliom dollars heading to the winner and there is the matter of a dead contestant adding to the suspense. Other prizes include a new Mercedes for individual winners in each cooking round as well as fifty thousand dollars to repeat winners. The book's cooking show plot line is written seamlessly into the story so that you feel apart of the story much the way the tv audience feels invested in the latest episode of Top Chef, Master Chef or My Kitchen Rules. This is a "light read" kind of book in my mind. For most of the book readers are are introduced to each character and given a broad vision of who they are. Of course as in real life cooking competitions Mary Cooked A Little Lamb has its share of contestants having chips on their shoulders. Giving the book a 5 star rating clearly demonstrates my fondness for the book. I would reccomend the book for reading on a rainy or snowy weekend cuddled up 9n the couch!
8 chefs, 2 well known opinionated judges, a production crew and a 5 star resort all together for the most lucrative cooking competition. Add in a murder, all the drama that these egos bring and you have entertainment for sure. There are hijinks in the competition and definite personality conflicts between the judges. I found this to be an easy fun read. It wasn’t much of a mystery, this story is mostly focused on the culinary event and I really enjoyed that. I will read the next 2 books to see what happens next with the characters.
An entertaining story about a cooking competition with intriguingly different entrants. It was funny as well as having a murder committed while the contestants are competing for the prize. The characters were skilfully crafted to provide the suspense and intrigue to create a good read.
I read lots of mystery stories. And once watched lots of cooking competitions. This book is an interesting look behind the scenes. And makes me wonder about the possibility of contestant sabotage...
Very interesting story with lots of different character types. The first chapter was a little slow, after that I had a hard time putting it down as I couldn't wait to see what happened next. Great ending!
Fun read, and the cooking competition was a compilation of several Food Network shows. Some of the dialogue seemed forced, and I would have liked more description of the setting. Still a fun, light read.
Enjoyed reading about a cooking competition where the contestants pulled tricks on each other so that their opponents can be sent home. Plus a murder while this is going on. Bravo to M'lissa for great writing.
Please do NOT abuse the HOLY NAMES of GOD again. This is blasphemy and is NEVER acceptable. Sadly costs you 1* That said, an otherwise entertaining story
A brilliant read. Had me hooked from the beginning. A really intriguing web of characters, some you love, others you really dislike. A great plot line. A really fun read. Loved it
