The Apocalypse Crusade #4

War of the Undead Day Four

Rate this book
Day Four-As if a zombie apocalypse wasn't bad enough, the country is also in the throes of a second Civil War. Massachusetts has closed its borders to everyone, including the 101st Airborne Division and five million desperate refugees. It's an act of rebellion that the President won't stand for, and with nuclear missiles flying by the hundreds in China, he mulls the idea of using nukes on American soil for the first time. And his nuclear sites aren't just centered on Massachusetts, either. Anna Holloway and Lieutenant Eng are loose in Baltimore with vials of infected blood, the city of Philadelphia is crumbling under a terrific storm of undead, and half of Pennsylvania has fallen. Although the call to arms has been answered by thousands of men and women, it won't be enough. The fate of the country rests on a stout few: FBI Agent Katherine Pennock who has to hunt down Anna and Eng before they create more zombies; Sergeant Troy Ross of the 101st who finds himself the linchpin in an epic battle involving millions; and Doctor Thuy Lee who holds the key to a cure somewhere in her brilliant mind. Unfortunately she is still trapped in the Zone with legions of undead and if there is any hope of finding the cure, she first has to live through day four of the apocalypse.

Overall, it kept me engaged, and set up the next book pretty well.

One thing I had trouble with-- Jamie. I know she is a smart zombie, but she's ten years old... I don't need to hear some of the things her warped zombie mind came up with.

How is it that we are four days in (which is near impossible to believe the timing) and not a single person or division of government can do a single thing right? I mean, I have very little faith in the government and after getting an MS in emergency management I can tell you that they are prepared and yet overly cumbersome in their plans but the odds of every person in charge at every division of government across multiple states and federal levels screwing up every single attempt is astronomically statistically unlikely.

Why would people/military randomly open fire on people in a hot air balloon. If they’re in a hot air balloon they are obviously capable of passing the functionality test (such as answering who was president). Especially without even a warning? Makes no sense.

Again with the child pornography and pedo tendencies. How random in a zombie apocalypse.

Please learn alternate words other than “gout.”

Repeating the letter it wrote at the end of day three is just being a lazy page filler.

It’s like the author forgot there was a period where people were semi-aware and that time frame seemed to from hours to mins before he eventually just dropped the concept entirely

Also, author ever once explains why some are smart zombies and some aren’t.

Lol clearly the author knows nothing about kink. Not that raping and beating someone without any is kink because kink operates and thrives on safe, sane, CONSENSUAL but first, using a belt is NOT whipping someone. It’s strapping someone. Second, a single strapping even a hard one - hurts but the writer is making it sound like the most unimaginable pain. Now, if he used a whip it could be so much worse pain but also where you hit makes a big difference in how much it hurts too. Either way, don’t write what you don’t know.

The author has a really bad habit of repeating words especially within the same sentence or in the immediately following sentence. You already established the action/location no need to keep repeating.

Honestly, would one state really start a civil war? Especially when the author spends so much time telling us how no one has any men or supplies or weapons. Not to mention the sheer level of stupidity.

Multiple states are without power by day two? Didn’t the author just spend an obscene amount of wasted pages emphasizing how everything was being quashed and hidden so how would people be abandoning jobs especially at electrical grid/nuclear plants by day two? Also, I interviewed someone from the NRC for my own apocalypse story and they informed me that staff would actually be bunkered down sheltered in place during a massive disaster (I explained it would be a disease vector) and so there would always be a team at the plants. If they sheltered in place in a highly secure facility they’d be among the safest people in the country actually and could maintain power. Further, they explained that even if the plant didn’t shut down properly and did blow the impact after would only be 3-5 miles (with up to 10 miles of more mild radiation leakage). It wouldn’t be a massive fallout that most people assume would happen.

Are you honestly telling us and expecting us to believe that this woman you have spent in order in amount of pages telling us how incredibly intelligent she is and how she can problem solve her way out of an unprecedented never before experience zombie apocalypse but she can’t figure out the logistics of how to Per in the woods

Wait the author just said that twe doesn’t understand how people are people and forgets that they are more than their job but feels that it’s somehow not right to Pee in front of a dead body? Wouldnt she of all people have an understanding that dead is dead and therefore it is just an empty container and not a person or soul? If she is so thoroughly removed from having compassion for living humans why would she have any type of compassion or thought for a dead

Why with Courtney restrained attention with the blaring of a horn as she was going through a stop sign especially when most people are either dead hiding in their houses or fighting on the line I can’t imagine that there would be any actual traffic that she would have to worry about. If anything all she would have to do is slow down as she came to the signed and then go through like most people do even on an average day of driving why do some thing as stupid as honking horn to draw attention to her self

Why have none of them stopped to get bags, gear, extra clothes, etc? Just random break in for one outfit and that’s it?

Why would Courtney of all people stop to help an injured person whose injury could have been zombie inflicted or at least infected.

Courtney’s sweat went from her ass yo her lower back? Is it defying gravity?

Not only was the vette good because it was easily spotted and thus seemingly less of a risk but also fast and good maneuverability which would be very helpful for evasive tactics.

Is the author a pedo or something? Now he’s talking about Jamie Lynn wanting to be pregnant. Yes it’s to eat yummy babies but he already said she was tired of the kids around her age/size and desperately wanted big people but now she wants to eat babies? Okay fine, babies are portrayed as “special” in cannibalistic settings plenty but that doesn’t mean a child wants to be pregnant just because she wants to eat tastier meat so it’s just making this guy seem weirder and weirder that most of the rare sexual content is usually pertaining to this child.

Nitrile gloves not latex.

Why does deckard think it’s impossible to believe the zombies were multiplying? That’s what the entire whole point of the zombie virus is for.

If you don’t have weapons anything is good but in reality an aluminum bat is a crap weapon because it will dent easily especially given that the zombies seem to have extra strength.

How many times is somebody going to say nobody’s going to cross this line or border and then they immediately cross the line or border. And how many times are they going to Say we don’t have time to listen to you everything these main characters are doing is just give people information that don’t wanna hear it why don’t they come up with a different tactic obviously nobody is going to be time for books into the same exact situation at every turn

In a flash the dancers” lol really? Funny but also groan.

Why wouldn’t the soldiers prep the stairs to collapse or blow so if they How to retrieve up the stairs and they could load them and the zombies wouldn’t be able to come up and have a present before they started blasting the music

Deck wasn’t “liable” to laugh at twe. Did the zombie holding the hot air balloon just disappear when they lifted off?

If Jamie Lynn hitting his helmet barely even did anything then how did he not just respond by fighting back after the hit and how did repeated hits take him down if the first strike was so minor? Sounds like a complete BS kill to make for additional conflict to just keep this story going way longer than it should be already.

The writer really likes to compare deadliness to adder snakes.

That was one hell of a ride!!!! Action??? There is more action than I could handle!!! The way this series is put out is absolutely FANTASTIC!!!!! The characters, many liked, some loved and more than a few HATED, are so well described and in line with each other throughout the series, that they are totally lifelike!!!! I can't praise this series enough!!! It is the ULTIMATE zombie/apocalyptic story!!!!

A+++

Loved It! Only problem is... It ends. I wish it were a never ending book that just magically renews when ur close to finishing. Oh well, they say patience is a virtue... I have no choice- I must wait for day 5 to follow along and gobble up more glorious words by Peter Meredith. Keep it up ur stories are absolutely superb!!

Not much new here

The story of Deckard, Thuy, Eng & Anna continues but it feels like the story is just plowing the same ground as everyone heads back to the lab. There's still no cure and the ending, of you want to call it that, fell flat for me.

Day 4

The worst I can say about series is there is a bit too much military tactical information for me. Other than that the zombies are wonderfully disgusting and the children eerily creepy. Suspenseful story lines that keeps one fearful and yet hopeful. An excellent read.

Another great read

I've been binging on Peter Meredith's books, and each is a page turner. They are hard to put down, and sometimes I'm up way too late because i need to see what happens next

I love how Peter writes

When I read the books a second time it’s like comíng home to visit old friends, even if I don’t like some of them too much. Eng, hang him by his nethers, Anna, by her toes and give Courtney a piñata bat to go at them until a head pops.

Great Zombie Boom

Crusade Day 4 is a great zombie book. The characters are easy to follow. The description of the government involvement is a added bonus.

Good installment

Peter Meredith is a joy to read. He does his reads and writes in an easy-to-read style. My only complaint is that eventually the series will end.

I hope Deckard is still alive. We didn't actually see his body so maybe? I mean I thought for sure Thuy was a goner in Day 3. Now hopefully Day 5 arrives soon and some people I care about live.
