Apollo's 11

Rate this book
The moment I saw Calista Cohen, I knew I was screwed. She looked so much like the girl on the painting. I had to find out more.

I was so intrigued to meet the woman who had the nerve to say exactly what she thought of my manuscript that I had to see her in person.
Her review was so insightful, as if she already knew me. It almost felt like a window to my soul.
She should definitely be worth checking.
Suddenly I find myself in her house and I am mesmerized by her sight. She looks divine and sexy as hell. And at that moment, I already know.
I have to have her.
Calista Cohen is going to be mine and there is no way around it.
I am Apollo Irons and I always get what I want.
But I have to be careful. No one must find out my most precious secret.

No one must find out about my son. I can't risk losing him over anything.

*Apollo's 11 is a steamy, yet sweet STANDALONE contemporary romance with a scorching hot alpha billionaire single dad. I don't enjoy cliffhangers or cheating, so I don't include them in my books. I can also guarantee you a super sweet happily-ever-after ♥ Please note this contains a bonus book, both books are full-length novels.

**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

Apollo Irons is writing his autobiography and has sent it out to a select few to get feedback. It is only Calli that returns negative criticism which has Apollo wanting to meet her and hiring her to ghost-edit his book.

Calli is already in a relationship but Apollo decides that he wants to pursue her, regardless that she has been in a stale relationship for four years.

The chemistry between the two is instantaneous and is purely PG until the inevitable breakup of Calli's relationship with her boyfriend.

The Irons family seem fairly close, well Apollo and Perseus, with their sister Helen only a good thing when she is around.

We get backstabbing wanna be lovers who are friends, business adversaries and a whole lot of angst as to the relationship as to what their "relationship" is.

The writing is good and had me turning page after page, although there are some issues that we sorted a bit too quickly for my liking.

I will certainly be picking up other books by this author.

DNF - Nothing terrible to report here. I just don't think the clutzy heroine who bumbles around the billionaire trope is for me right now.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

She is stuck inside an apartment every day, she lives with her gamer boyfriend. She left her job to move with him, and now finding a job (as and editor or writer) is next to impossible to find. The one she does find is perfect. Well, that is until Callie is fired and her twitter account is blown up by people bad mouthing her - all because she wrote a rave review on a local restaurant. To be fair the day she was there none of the horrible thing these people are saying happened. She received an unedited autobiography from none other than the man Apollo Irons, it even came with a handwritten note (not to mention the most awesome smelling cologne.) After Callie reads it, she feels that is needs to be tweaked, to show the real side of him. She proceeds to write him back and speak the truth. No, she wasn't rude or harsh, but stern and honest. Then her doorbell rings.....who could that possibly be????

He has built himself up to the person he is today with little help. He is one of the three Irons heirs. He is none other than the Apollo Irons. Deciding to do the autobiography himself, he was able to rely on a few chosen people to proofread and given an honet review to him of that autobiography. However, when the certain people replied back all but one of them said it was great and that there was nothing to change. This one woman, by the name of Callie (actually Calista) was bold enough to be completely (and a little harsh for his liking anyway) honest. Apollo is going to meet with her (unbeknown to her that is) and go over what she was said.

When Callie opens her apartment door there stands none other than the big man himself.....Apollo Irons. She was doing things around the apartment, and was not wearing enough clothes for guests. When she realizes this, it was after Apollo was already in the apartment and they had started talking. Realizing she had no pants on, she rushes to the bedroom and grabs some shorts to put on. She rejoins Apollo in the living room and they are in deep conversation when her boyfriend comes home. The boyfriend works for Apollo, at least in one of his companies, and without missing a beat, Apollo rattles off the information on the guy. Boyfriend decides to give the two of them some privacy, and when he is gone that is when there is a spark brought to a bit of an ember. Before anything happens though, Apollo leaves and insists (as he usually does and that is how he always gets his way) that she call him tomorrow, and even tells her what time to be on the phone with him. Wow! Talk about master in mind manipulation.

Callie is torn with the offer Apollo has spoken of with her at the apartment, but is pretty sure she is not going to settle for being tossed aside either. She has no idea why, but she is waiting and calling him, just like he told her to. What the?!?!?! This isn't like her at all. Apollo has her meet with him at his choice of location and things go a little off course. Apollo is very VERY specific and detailed with everything he does, including time and place. There is a big secret Apollo has not disclosed to Callie, but it becomes very out in the open one specific day. Needless to say, he accuses Callie of this secret being told to the world by her, she has NO intention of doing that and is very angry that he would even think that. On top of finding out about Apollo's secret, Callie finds her boyfriend cheating on her.....how much stress and heartbreak can one woman go through before catching a full break??

Apollo helps Callie with her getting rid of her now ex boyfriend, and man the thing between them heats up to something that will give first, second AND third degree burns. Then as things start going well for those two and they are finally beginning to keep fires going, a bombshell is dropped, then another one, and now the biggest bombshell is being dropped on Callie from Apollo. The knife to the heart she feels happening from the words he has just spoken is too great to handle. She leaves, Apollo doesn't go after her. Three months have gone by and he is not giving up looking for her. She is off the grid. He is not about to give up though. He makes a big decision to put her name on his book as the editor (back to the original reason Callie wasn't happy with him in the beginning) and is going on a talk show to discuss/promote his book. The romance novel that is SUPER huge and written to be so similar to Callie and Apollo's relationship is selling like wildfire. That mystery author is also going to be on the show. Surprise Callie used a pen name, but is planning on coming clean today about her book.

They meet up face to face for the first time in months, to say the least it is a bit awkward on stage. Then the host mentions that the two of them seem to have a familiarity to one another showing, and Apollo is going to hold no punches. He proclaims how they know each other, he tells her about her being named as editor on his book, and another surprise happens. Then it gets even better. Their happy ever after is one that I wish I would know in my lifetime that is for sure.

Callie is a freelance writer of click-bait type articles. One day, she receives a copy of billionaire Apollo Iron's autobiography to beta-read. Being unimpressed and convinced that Apollo is just writing a puff-piece, she tells him so. Taken by her honesty amongst dozens of positive reviews, he reaches out to her to become his ghost-editor. Apollo and Callie are instantly attracted to one another, but nothing really happens since she has a live-in boyfriend. Romantic angst, commence!

The plot moves at a steady pace so it's hard to put down. There's a little too much of the plot that relies purely on coincidences, but at least the interactions are entertaining. There are a few story-lines that were left either unfinished or weren't thoroughly explained, making me feel like something's still missing. *SPOILERS* IE Early on, it is mentioned numerous times that Apollo's father disappeared and is still missing. He's been declared legally dead, but not many people believe that to be true. A few more mentions of it and how it has negatively affected Apollo then *POOF* it's never brought up again. Also, I understood why Ares was given to Daphne to raise initially (I didn't agree, but I understood). But it didn't make sense for Ares to continue living with her, especially once Apollo's grandfather died. I found it really unappealing for the hero to leave his son to be raised by someone he (Apollo) can no longer tolerate, just to save face. Especially when it becomes obvious that she's not doing a good job.

Callie's no BS attitude makes her a funny and strong heroine that's easy to connect with. She was stubborn at times, but I disagreed with very few of her decisions. Apollo, well, he takes a tad longer to adapt to. He's initially arrogant and uncompromising, but the more time he spends with Callie, the more charming he becomes. I never did get past the whole leaving his son to be raised by someone else and still find it unpalatable, so he won't go down in history as one of my favorite heroes.

The sexual chemistry between Apollo and Callie is strong and, sometimes, angsty, so I was definitely not disappointed in that regard. There were a few timeline inconsistencies, but nothing glaring that changes the outcome of the story. A few characters that I really wanted to know more about disappeared, leaving me unfulfilled. Namely, Drake. That poor guy needs his own book.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I honestly thought this was going to be another dirty, sexy story featuring and enormous manhood with a side of secret child and insecure yet sensual female lead. Thank all the cozy afghans in my house, it wasn't. It completely surprised me that I LOVED this book.

Calista was sweet, feisty, curvy, strong willed, independent, self-assured, a little insecure, loving, accepting, smart, and witty. She stood up for herself time and again, felt remorse when appropriate, had the ability to say no when she knew she should (despite a couple of kisses hinting otherwise), and she loved openly and freely. I like her. I admire her. I truly enjoyed reading about her.

Apollo was definitely an alpha male who needed a good and feisty woman to bring him down from Olympus. He struggled with things and really pulled it out in the end. Callie was the winner for me in this coupling, but together they were stunning and a good match for their opposites as well as their similarities.

Excellent cast with a funny and charming Perseus, a loyal and needy Helen, a precocious and sweet Ares, a good friend and amusing person in Drake, and then all the antagonists too. All of them made a solid grouping that drew me in, kept me interested, and made me want to read more about them in future books. That's what I love about some authors, they write a good romance and fill it with other characters that make you wish you weren't done with their world. Anna Collins has so much win with this one.

As for the plot, I thought that the romance progressed well, I'd like to have seen some of the actual dating, but since I gave it 5 stars, you won't see me complaining much. I would like to have known more about Callie's past, but she still felt like a whole person written as is. There were some issues with subterfuge and it was dealt with "off-camera" and quickly so the focus remained on the MC's instead of the drama itself. There were also a few mentions of missing information like with Apollo's dad, but for all the curiosity it aroused, it wasn't made into a big deal so as things played out you forgot it was mentioned until you finish the book and then reflect on what you read. One thing I do wish were there were friends for Calista. Thea was forgotten and Helen ends up with that very lonely title with only Drake for company.

Overall I loved the book and it's going on my re-read shelf for sure! I enthusiastically reviewed this book as an ARC I got from Hidden Gems.

I 100% loved every bit of this book! Even when I wanted to strangle Apollo for being obtuse, I still couldn't wait to read more. It is quite a lengthy read, which I loved. I can't think of a single page I would edit out of this one. Callie was a spitfire and that was simply adorable. She put Apollo in his place more often than he would've liked, but he deserved it. I think his siblings were right about the two of them all along. Speaking of, I really liked Helen. She and Callie made a great pair and were almost sisters in their feelings toward one another. Percy was awesome as well. He was often there to bail out his siblings because he truly loved them both. I absolutely loved Ares. He was such a sweet little boy. When he was lost at the mall, I can only imagine how that felt. Apollo may have been paranoid and over-reacted, but it did come out of love for his little boy. However, the part where I wanted to strangle Apollo was at a time in the book where things were coming to a head. Drake was in the picture and the Ridley twins were causing problems. Of course, we know why they were able to do that, but anyway... He was a typical man and as such, he got his just rewards for the next few months. Sigh.

I want to apologise to Anna Collins as I had to admit that I had a few misconceptions about this book and I can only think that there was something about the title that had put me off a little. However I hold my hands up and admit that ‘Apollo’s 11’ was much more that I thought it would be and I just couldn’t put it down once I started. I give 4 stars for this funny, well written tale with great characters.

This book had drama, lust, angst, humour but above all a smart, witty and feisty female lead. Callie was a big hit for me and the star of the show. It was because of her that I kept reading and she held my interest well. The chemistry with her and Apollo was there from the start even though she wasn’t single at the time. The Irons family members were an interesting addition to the tale and I wouldn’t mind reading more about them all in the future.

Overall I had totally misjudged this book because of the name and/or cover and I was pleasantly surprised by a book that was smart, funny and captured my attention all the way through.

Apollo's 11 caught my attention from the very beginning and kept it until the end. I always enjoy when an author is able to balance out white hot chemistry between the characters with dialogue that makes you laugh out loud. Anna Collins does just that in Apollo's 11. Callie is sassy and witty and gives Apollo her honest review on his autobiography. Intrigued by her response Apollo goes to meet Callie and sparks fly. Apollo definitely meets his match with Callie. I enjoyed the twists and turns their story takes and that you are able to see the point of view from both characters. All the characters were amazing and I hope that Anna continues with their stories as well. Apollo's 11 is a fast-paced paced must read that has it all- a fabulous plot, great characters, humor, drama, white hot chemistry, and a touch of Greek mythology. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book but loved it so much I had to one-click it immediately!! I will definitely be looking for more books by Anna Collins.

Callie is a writer who is trying to make a living. She has a live-in boyfriend but their relationship isn't the best. One day she receives a package in the mail with a book she had applied to read and review. The book is an autobiography of Apollo Irons, a rich businessman. Callie reads the book and responds to the author that the book is just a puff piece with no real feelings or new information. Apollo wants his book to be the best he can make it but most of the reviews were not honest but more yes-man answers. Callie's honest review grabbed his attention. He decides to hire her to ghost edit his book where she gets paid but gets no credit. Callie wants to turn him down but she is desperate for a job. She is now to seen as his new assistant. The problem is her new boss is very tempting especially compared to her boyfriend.
This is a good book but I had some problems with Apollo and his ego and demands. I voluntarily received a copy of this story and this is my honest review.

I received an arc of this book for a honest review.
After reading Apollo's autobiography Callie is the only one to give him honest feedback so he visits Callie to ask her if she will edit the book for him without credit. As soon as they make eye contact with each other sparks start to fly. This leaves Callie shaken as she is already in a relationship and has been for 4 years. Callie is a little spitfire and tells him she is not happy editing his book without credit and refuses at first.
Apollo is a strong dominant man and he fights for what he wants and he wants Callie.
Callie is a strong woman who will stand up to him and tell him the truth whether he likes it or not. She can be quite funny with her comebacks.
I really enjoyed this book and I found there were no lulls in the story and kept you turning the pages. The story had some great background characters that could easily have there own books. This is a great story and was in my opinion written well.

I have to say that I was expecting something different by the title of the book, I thought it was going to be more erotic. I am definitely glad that it wasn't, this book was great as it was. It was a sweet and sexy romance. I wasn't sure I was going to like Apollo. In the beginning he was very stiff and hard to get to know. But by the end he was such a sweet guy who wanted to change his life for the woman he loves. I really enjoyed Callie's character. She was in a crossroads in her life. Accepting Apollo's offer is definitely a game changer for her. Callie gets immersed into Apollo's life and she starts to fall for him but she is unsure of his feelings for her. Will Apollo let down is walls and let Callie in? This was a very enjoyable read. It was well written and the characters were well developed. I am excited to read more from Anna Collins! Definitely a well written, well organized story, with well defined main characters and just enough on the secondary characters to lead into their own stories (?... I can only hope!)
Callie (Calista) and Apollo had quite an adventurous relationship. She was one of the few people to tell him no...strong, sassy, and smart, she also was a softie inside, but not enough to put up with his, ofttimes, stupidity!
Apollo went after anything he wanted with a vengeance, and got it...and Callie was his target for now. Would he win her over or would the walls he built around his heart cause him to lose her forever?
To get the "deets," you will have to read their story! Loved it!
The book also comes with the "Billionaire Games" series...at least for now...😉

The power of the pen....all Calista Cohen wants to do is write . To get on that pathway to do better things she agrees to be a beta reader for Apollo Irons. Little does she realise how her life and his more so will change. So many feelings, emotions and secrets to be revealed. Little by little, Callie realises how her relationship with her boyfriend has changed since knowing Apollo. He will have more of an impact than she realises in lots of ways. Making her grow as a woman, a writer and making her more independent but making Apollo have more faith in people, learning to love and trust again. I love all the family names , brilliant.

Ok read

I picked this book to read on a whim. The more I read, the harder it became for me to connect with Calista. I liked the alpha male side of Apollo. The introduction of Drake and his role in the story was a little off. There wasn't enough explanation or background on him. In all, this book was too short to have so many twists and turns.

***SPOILER ALERT*** I didn't like how the lack of protection used during sex was never addressed. It's amazing that Calista didn't get pregnant right away. I hated the epilogue and the profanity and nastiness Calista showed while in labor and delivery. I hate it when women are always portrayed in this very stereotypical way. It ruined what could have been a sweet ending. This was just an ok read to me.

A Review of Apollo's 11 by Anna Collins

Wonderful storyline - 4 stars

I thoroughly enjoyed all the Greek mythology that was included in the naming of the characters. When Apollo sends his autobiography to several beta readers, only one of them actually gives him honest feedback, so he tracks her down to get her help. This book is fast paced and will keep you on the edge of your seat and the chemistry between then is off the charts. I thought the characters were well developed, but I think Ms. Collins needs better editing or proofing. My biggest pet peeve is grammatical errors, which is why I could only give it 4 stars.

Calista Cohen, a writer, is sent a book by Apollo Irons a businessman who wrote his autobiography. Callie gave him an honest review of his book and it caught his attention so he offered her a job to ghost edit his book. Will this job turn into something more for Apollo and Callie and will it last? I really enjoyed Apollo and Callie's story. It is a wonderful love story full of angst, humor, hot sex, drama, a strong sexy heroine and a hot alpha. The writing and story line were great and the plot flowed. The supporting characters were wonderful and I hope they get their own books next. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I had mixed emotions about this story. The title really didn't fit the story in my opinion. Apollo was a pompous, arrogant billionaire who thought he could take whatever he wanted. I liked the plot even though it left me lacking. The characters were okay - could have been more developed. I really didn't have a connection to them until Apollo's son came into the picture. That totally turned Apollo's character around for me where I could relate to him. While I wasn't enamored with this story, I do look forward to reading more from this author.

Callie Cohen is a struggling writer, who moved cities with her boyfriend Nick. There life is OK, but not exactly exciting and seem to be stuck in a rut. Things are looking up when Callie gets to review an autobiography by Apollo Irons, one of the most eligible batchelors around. He is just the type she normally writes about in her column.

After giving Apollo a negative review he decides that he needs Callie to help him finish it, though she will never receive any credit for it. Does Callie agree, or will she tell him where to go?

A good standalone. A few laughs, and a lovely little love story flowing through.

I tried very hard to dislike Apollo, really I Did! Even after I became endeared to him he still managed to make to "not like" him at times.

He is mercurial and hard to read often but it doesn't detract from his realness & passion.

Callie is sweet but sassy ... I like her ... a lot! I cried with Callie & loved with Callie ... I identified with Callie!

Ares was an absolute joy to read about; I wanted to hug him & I wanted to cry for him a couple times.

These characters are so well described they eazily become real; I have clearly defined "pictures" of them in my head.

This book was an absolute joy to read & I also enjoyed the Bonus Epilouge!

Funny and witty

This was so much more than I expected. The title and cover led me to believe it would be a little more on the fluffy side. Not that that is a bad thing, those kinds of books are great fillers when you're not sure what to read next. But as I got further and further into this one, the story took a more in depth turn and I found myself unable to put it down. There was a lot going on and I was hooked. The best part was that even with the little bits of drama, there was a lot of humor added in. This was a great story and I'm glad the author added a link for an extended epilogue afterwards. I loved that little gem!

Apollo is a Billionaire CEO with a reputation for being tough, secretive, and a shrewd businessman with an icy exterior. In order to help people to better understand him, he has written his autobiography. Now all he needs is an editor. Going through the applications, he chooses Callie. At their first meeting, chemistry between them was off the charts. But Callie's biggest complaint is Apollo doesn't open up to her and reveal his secrets. Their relationship is a tumultuous journey that will entertain. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. Four stars.

Greek God

The characters in this story are great . The chemistry between Apollo and Callie is undeniable . The banter back and forth between them is hilarious at times . Not to mention the sexual heat . I really loved how at the end we went five years in the future . That Apollo turned out to be such a great dad and that his son Ares was excited about the twins. I hope we get follow up books on Apollo's brothers . Not to mention the bonus books at the end makes this a great read . I recommend this book it is so worth the purchase .

This book captured my attention right at the beginning and kept it. The chemistry between Callie and Apollo is off the charts. They are true soul mates and were drawn to each other instantly. Both are authors and drawn together when Callie writes an honest review of his autobiography and he seeks her out. Lots of surprises and twists in this book. No shortage of drama or emotion. This is an amusing, entertaining and romantic story. Apollo is a cold, harsh, yet engaging character. He's somewhat oblivious to his family, and doesn't stand up for himself. Until he meets Callie. Callie is a sweet, loving and determined woman. The dynamics between Apollo and his siblings is a bit weird, and his relationship with his son is baffling. The storyline is intriguing and captivating and I enjoyed the book.

Apollo's 11 by Anna Collins is a steamy, sexy and sweet contemporary romance novel with no cliffhangers or cheating and a happily-ever-after. This's the story of Apollo Irons, hot alpha billionaire single dad & Calista Cohen, a sexy future promising editor/writer woman. Once you start reading it's hard to put down. NO SPOILERS!!! I got this as an ARC for my honest opinion and review. I have read a few of Anna Collins and this fit along with her other novels. Apollo had to meet the woman whose review was like she knew him and looked right into his soul. That tells him he has to meet her and find out more. Once he saw her there was no other thought but to have her. But he has to be careful he has a secret and would not risk anyone finding out. Will his secret come out or will it remain hidden? You will just have to read and find out.
