Frog Hog: Valen and Hutch

Rate this book
From the International Bestselling Author of Navy SEAL Romance novels, comes something a little more farcical, humorous, a ROMANTIC COMEDY INJECTED WITH ALPHA. This is a novella length, standalone story, intended for readers 18+ due to graphic language and explicit sexual encounters. Readers, please enter the hog lair with caution.

/Frôg • hôg/ 1. A woman who only dates SEALs

The first time I did it, I labeled it novelty. The second, I was ovulating and extremely horny, the third time was because I’d had two martinis and he had fourteen abs. Fourteen. You don’t say no to that.

My name is Valen, and I’m addicted to SEALs. Bag them, tag them, on to the next. One ships out, the next ships in. It has become a hobby, a recreational sport, if you will. Their skills inside the bedroom are comparable to their notoriety on the battlefield. I’m pretty sure it has something to do with their trigger finger. I could be wrong, so don’t quote me on that.

From the moment I met the infamous SEAL they call, Hutch, my game begins faltering. He wants more than one night, and while I wouldn’t mind a double dip, falling for this lethally good-looking frog would be bad for my health. Counting abs turns into counting dates, and dates turn into something else entirely. Forever.

ARC received in exchange for an honest review.

This was a fun book to read as is always with Rachel Robinson. I really liked Hutch but looking back I'm not too sure how I feel about Valen. Although I definitely think she jumped to the right conclusions about certain things before they got explained.

I will be keen to continue this series as I always enjoy Miss Robinsons books.

Reviewed on behalf of The Book Boyfriend Addict (www.bookboyfriendaddict.com). A complimentary copy was provided in exchange for an honest review.

I’m tired of playing catch and release. I want a SEAL for keeps.

Ever since getting out of a predictable and boring relationship, Valen is addicted to Navy SEALs, whose lives are anything but predictable and boring. She’s what is known as a Frog Hog, but lately she’s thinking she might be interested in more than one night with a SEAL of her choosing. When she meets the SEAL they call Hutch, she is as equally attracted to and put off by his blunt opinions on her lifestyle. It would seem that Hutch’s desire to find a relationship lines up with Valen’s desire to try for more than one night and the two decide to give it a go. Their chemistry is off the charts and they find themselves falling hard and fast but complicated pasts have the potential to send Valen running right back to her one night only rule.

I thought this was a fun and extremely sexy novella! It moved quickly but that wasn’t surprising given the short length, and even though a lot of details were glossed over, it didn’t feel like it was lacking. I was still able to get invested in Valen and Hutch and their whirlwind romance. While, personally, I have zero in common with Valen, I thought she was a really fun heroine. Her crassness and sass provided plenty of laugh out loud moments. Hutch was harder to read, at least initially, but it was easy to get swept up in his alpha ways. He was interesting because you can tell he’s a good guy (and the more I learned about him, the more this point was reinforced) but it was contrasted by his bluntness and bossiness. I thought they made a really great pair. There’s one thing a Rachel Robinson book always delivers on and that’s plenty of hotness! Don’t let the short page count fool you, this book is full of steam! If you’re looking for a fun and sexy romp with an alpha Navy SEAL and a smart-mouthed heroine, you should grab a copy of this one!

“There are a lot of things in life you should be scared of. I’m not one of them. I don’t suck at relationships, Valen. I only take on the ones that I’m sure I can make work. That’s the difference.”

Valen is a Frog Hog who hooks up only with Navy Seals. After a disappointing experience with her ex she has given up on love and relationships . Meeting with Hutch at a bar both intrigues her and insults her. When he says he only wants a relationship, she is hooked enough to give it a go.
Their story is a mix of sexy, hot and sweet. We see how invested Hutch is and how Valen is dealing with this real thing. There is a slight drama in the end but it takes a sweet change and all is well in her life.

Frog Hog - Valen & Hutch is a super sexy, deliciously dirty, intense SEAL novella with hilarious witty banter and major LOL moments.

I love that Rachel has ventured into writing dirty, raw, kick ass novellas with enough sweetness and fun to make them utterly addictive reads.

Valen & Hutch have such a deep, sizzling connection. One that's raw and brutal and you can practically feel the heat rising from the pages as you read.

Nobody writes a SEAL better than Rachel. Her men are always hard, rough alpha males that are fierce about their women and Hutch was just incredible. In all honesty it took me a while to connect to Valen. But once I did I wanted to high five her and be her best friend.

This book is a definite winner for those that want a quicker read that’s crazy hot, swoony and littered with enough action to hold the attention!

I’m new to Rachel Robinson’s books. I was intrigued by the thought of a series of novellas dedicated to Navy SEALS. I’ve read one book about a Navy SEAL and honestly, it wasn’t my cup of tea. Give me a guy in a suit any day of the week! But I thought, why not try one more time? I’m glad I did. I’ve never read Rachel and figured a novella was a good way to get in tune with what she writes.

Let’s play a little game of Honest War, shall we? (I fell in love with this game in the story!)

HONEST WAR….Hutch is one hell of a hot man!

HONEST WAR….Valen is just the kind of heroine I was looking for!

HONEST WAR…..And the sex you may ask? DIRTY. Downright dirty. Raunchy at times. There was just pointblank, honest to goodness hot freakin’ sex. Oh, and some anal thrown in for good measure.

(Seriously though, if you can’t handle blatant dirty sex, this read may be too much for you. I have no filter and am not embarrassed by anything and this had ME blushing at times😉)

Gabe Hutchinson is a Navy SEAL who is just sitting at a bar when he is approached by Valen.

He is one bad ass man who has a heart of gold. Little does Valen know that Gabe knows all about her and is about to test her like no other man ever has!

Valen is a sexy, sassy Frog Hog who is just interested in a hit it and quit it night. No strings, no attachments, just hot sex. Valen lets the men know exactly what she is looking for. Until she meets Gabe. He is in it for more than just one night.

Can Valen do a relationship that she claims to have always wanted, with a SEAL? Or will Gabe’s secrets tear them apart forever?

Valen and Hutch really was so much more than I expected. At one point in the story, I was team Valen all the way. One hell of a chick who knew exactly what she wanted out of life and went for it. And then there was Hutch. He’s a SEAL, need I say more!?! I love how Hutch became attached to Valen so quickly. All throughout the story, I was laughing, I was mad, I was crying. There is a point in the story which totally broke my heart. The feels!! Ugh! I really didn’t know how it would turn around but boy did it ever!

This is nothing like I expected but boy am I glad I took a chance on a new author! I look forward to more books by Rachel!

5 stars!
Many people know by now Rachel Robinson is a favorite author of mine, whatever she writes I love. If you are familiar with her work she always adds a little bit of humor in her writing, (I love her humor). Well take Rachel’s humor and put it all in one book and you have a laugh out loud fun and sometimes raunchy story. RomCom is one of my favorite genres and Rachel really delivered on this. That’s not all though, you still get those heartfelt moments she’s also known for. She really packed a great story into this novella without it feeling rushed. The only thing is I want more of these two characters. I thoroughly enjoyed their story.

Valen doesn’t want a plain boring relationship; she’s done it once and doesn’t want to do it again. She’s very happy with her Frog Hog status until she meets Hutch. She’s ready for a real man, a SEAL.

Hutch doesn’t do casual he wants something real and he needs to convince Valen he is the one for her.

I wish I had a little bit of Valen’s personality and confidence, if found her to be a very strong heroine that made me laugh and she was confident in her own skin. I love how Rachel portrayed her, she wasn’t some dumb bimbo. She was a smart and successful woman that knows what she wants.

“I want adventure. I don’t want stability. I want mystery and homecomings. I want mind blowing sex with someone I’m one-hundred percent attracted to both body and soul. I can depend on myself. I don’t need anyone to take care of me.”

Hutch was this strong kind of broody guy, it told it how it was and expected the same in return. I loved his dry sense of humor.

Valen: “I’m telling all my friends you are coming over by the way. If I end up in a ditch somewhere, they’ll know it was you.”

Hutch: “Now that’s offensive.” pause “Make it six-fifteen. I need to buy duct tape.”

The two of them really made a great match and the chemistry was HOT. Wow these were some of the steamiest scenes I think Rachel’s written.

The epilogue was perfection, I’m a sucker for a good epilogue and this one was spot on.
I think Rachel nailed this novella; I can’t wait for the next.

There are very few authors who's work who gives you that feeling of "there is no way their new release is going to top their previous amazing books." Each Rachel Robinson book leaves you saying this to yourself-and each and every time she delivers a more hot, hilarious, out of this world creative SEAL story. If I could give this book more than 5 stars I would!
After a failed engagement, Valen chases the one night romps of Navy SEALS. Hard, quick, satisfying, and passionate is everything she wasn't getting from her previous relationship. When she feels herself being pulled by Gabe Hutchinson's sexy green eyes and strong jaw line from across the bar like a magnet-she feels she has found her romp for the night. When she gets talking to this stranger, she's thrown for a loop when Hutch calls out her reputation amongst his friends-and will only date her. Valen is so intrigued by Hutch, she immediately realizes she not only wants to romp a SEAL-but she wants a forever with a SEAL too. Could Hutch be her forever SEAL? Hutch has secrets, and when Valen finds out, will it send her running?
Valen is quite possibly my favorite heroine in any book I've ever read. The evolution of her character is done simply amazing! She starts out as this confident independent woman, and then realizes she can still be confident and independent but still in love. She says what she's thinking most of the time-which is something a reader can appreciate wholly-as you don't find yourself saying "I wish she would just do this already!" Hutch-holy brooding hotness! We know he's hiding something-but he's so sexy and we can see he really cares about Valen and putting 100% into the relationship with her. The love scenes? I think my kindle spontaneously combusted. The ending? Nothing sweeter! The best SEAL books out there! - Victoria

Read the full review, with memorable tweetable quotes, on GraveTells: http://bit.ly/GT-FrogHog

Valen has an addiction, and she's serious about it. She only dates Navy SEALs. Although, maybe "date" is too bland a term. After years of "hogging", this lady is finally playing for keeps.

I loved Hutch. His intensity, his confidence, his careful choices. This SEAL is looking for a forever missus, and he has zero interest in a one night stand, no matter how dirty, kinky, or freaky it may promise to get.

The scene where Valen first notices Hutch is memorable. He's straight up about what he wants and he doesn't spare her feelings in talking about who she is (she's slept with—and turned down—some of his buddies). He's also not afraid to tell her why he wants the life of commitment, and it's not what you might expect.

I love Rachel Robinson's writing. She pulls on emotional strings I'm never expecting, and her characters are always bigger than life. Her romances celebrate love with a ballsy, sex-positive attitude. It's freeing and a little disconcerting.

Frog Hog revels in witty, snappy banter and straight-up raw sex. It's a quick read, unputdownable from there's-a-frogman-i-wanna-bag to i-can't-live-without-his-dirty-lovin'. I'm looking forward to more sexy, flirty, punchy stories in this Frog Hog series.

Valen is addicted to Navy Seals, and isn't ashamed about bagging, tagging, and going on to the next. It's become her downtime sport. But the moment she met the Seal Hutch, her game starts slowing down. He wants her, but he wants her as a relationship, and Valen isn't quite sure about that. But one thing she does know, is that she wants him, so she starts spending time with him. That's all I'm revealing, as this is a short read that packs a huge punch. I couldn't turn the pages quickly enough, and I was super sad when it was over. Rachel Robinson has a talented and addicting writing style that drew me in, and still hasn't let me go, hours after. Valen has an inner monologue that is so hilarious, and highly original, that I couldn't stop laughing. And Hutch is a yummy Seal that I couldn't get enough of, even though he made some douche choices that had me calling him names. But together, they were FIERY FLAMES of SMOKIN' HOT sexy times that will leave panties as a pile of ashes. One big twist had the f-bombs flying everywhere, as I was MAD! Nonetheless, I really wish for more of this super hot couple, but I'll be satisfied with more SEALs from this talented author! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Honest War. Truth with no remorse or regard for another's feelings.

Valen is unapologetically a Frog Hog. She didn't set out to become one but once she enters SEAL world she is addicted. Valen grows a little weary of "catch and release". Enter Hutch, tall, green eyes and gorgeous. At first he acts hard to get but then he offers her something no one else has, a relationship. It's complicated dating a SEAL. They are gone more than they are home. No problem for Valen. She is independent, can take care of herself and can handle the separation. These two people have crazy chemistry, are compatible, are very sexy, they are funny, and honest with each other. Hutch loves Valen even though she "swears like a salty pirate hooker". Told you they are funny.

But if you read Rachel Robinson's books, there is angst. Are all truths told? Are there secrets? You will fall in love with Hutch. I mean he is gorgeous and all man. You will want to be Valen because she is feisty, funny and warm. One of the best heroines I've read. I love Rachel Robinson's books. I love this love story. Rachel gives us angst, but she makes it right by the end. Whatever that "right" turns out to be. Please read this book. I promise you will love it too.

Seriously, how can you not give this book 5 stars. I started this thinking, oh a little novella. Like a side writing project from the amazingly talented Rachel Robinson. Nope. Because she doesn't do things in half measure, people. This book was so easy to sink completely into because of Valen and Hutch. Mostly Valen. I swear, the clever dialogue and inner workings of Valen's extremely amusing brain is what is the almost the best thing about this book. The best though? The chemistry and off the charts sex. Hutch's approach to Valen- serious swoon how he handles her. I seriously needed to consider a cold shower but instead grabbed my husband. It is THAT good. And hey, as I keep telling people who mock my extreme alliegiance to romance authors, the plot has to be as good as the chemistry and sex. And it was. What an extremely fun and easy-to-love book. Honestly, Valen and Hutch are going on my Wall of Fame for best couples. Thank you so much Rachel. I CANNOT wait for the next instalment. (Nudge nudge- can Pixie get a book? And Greer too?)

It was a good but short novalia

It was a lovely little novelia about Valen and Hutch, Valen is a girl who likes to sleep with SEALs and just them but couldn't one night at the local bar she runs into Hutch, who lays it out that he wants a relationship and not to be one of her conquests. Thus Begins their relationship based on mutual attraction and fiery passion but Hutch is too good to be true and One day Valen spots Hutch holding hands with a woman and young girl thus breaking them apart and destroys her relationship with Hutch. But their so in love with each other is hard to stay away and life brings them full circle to be with each other.

This book caused me to persevere as I wanted to find out about a frog Hall but it did take me a while to get into it. It has many explicit scenes with fiery parts throughout that will melt your nethers off and make you want more.

I absolutely love this author and would read anything she wrote! As soon as this book hit my kindle, I dove straight in, I wasn't disappointed. At first I didn't know what to think about Valen, I didn't really like her but as the story moves on she grew on me. The same with Hutch, their first meeting I thought he was a bit of a dick to her but when we get more of his back story, I got why he acted that way. Valen knows what she wants and isn't afraid to ask, she was sassy and feisty. Hutch was an alpha male who sees what he wants and waits for the perfect moment to go out and get it. There's a few twists and turns that keep you turning the pages and some seriously sexy moments!! My only real problem with this book is that I wish it was longer!! I can't wait for the next book in this series.

I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I have read almost every single book written by Rachel and she has yet to disappoint. I give this book 4 starts and not 5 because I wanted more. The characters that Rachel writes about come right out of the page, honestly I've even seen myself or friends in the women in her stories. The author does an amazing job with building the sexual tension and relating the character either to the reader or someone in your life.
Valen and Hutch didn't disappoint. Valen a strong women finally discovered what she was missing in life. Hutch a strong man with certain expectations. He bends Valen to his will, that's not right he makes Valen recognize her needs and wants. I agreed not to give a spoiler. However, I will tell you I laughed I like really laughed out loud, that to me makes an amazing book.
Look I don't read to learn I read to escape. I read to laugh sometimes cry. this book does that. It's also Hot AF. Seriously I didn't want it to end. I cannot wait for the next one.
Please Rachel, write your ass off so I don't have to wait so long.
Buy this book sit on the porch and read. perfect summer read.

This is the first time I've read anything by Rachel Robinson and ...... OHhh Emm Geeee! Frog Hog is outrageously funny, unabashedly sexy and surprisingly heart-warming at the same time.

I almost spit out my drink when I read.....

"A SEAL has, in one pinky finger, enough testosterone to populate the planet three times over. Along with loaded AK’s they have loaded dicks. I have a theory that they should spray their seed like a rapid-fire weapon at any fertile woman. There would be more good in the world that way".

Seriously?! It's like this through almost the entire story. Laugh out loud, off the cuff hilarious.

Frog Hog is a quick, fresh, energetic read that you don't want to miss!

I liked parts of this book but other parts irritated me. I wasn’t a massive fan of Hutch. When his secret was revealed I felt for him but it didn’t make me love him.
Hutch annoyed me with his reaction to Valen learning his secret. He was the one that lied and kept secrets yet he spoke to Valen like she was at fault when it was revealed. I wanted to shout at him that he should be the one begging forgiveness/second chances not Valen!
Despite that I was left satisfied with the ending and thought the epilogue was sweet.
We only get Hutch’s point of view at the prologue and the epilogue. I would have like to have heard his opinion more. I hope Greer’s story gets told at some point in the future.
The storyline for this book is easy to follow and a nice read.

If you are looking for a super HOT read... THIS is it! Holy mother of monkey milk, this book is off the charts naughty. Hutch and Valen light up the pages when the fireworks between them are set off. I think I may have blushed a time or two! Don't be mislead though. Frog Hog is not only a steamy read, it was unexpectedly emotional. Just when I thought I knew where the story line was going, it took a heart breaking turn that swallowed me up heart and soul. Despite this story being a Novella, it never felt rushed or incomplete. It was pretty damn awesome... I highly recommend!

Valen is after one type of man and one type of man only. He has to be a SEAL. Her reasons for this may be a little flaky but she has fun and she gives her what she needs. Hutch has been watching Valen for a while, waiting for his chance but he wants more of Valen, more than just one night.

I did find Valen very immature in her attitude towards men and relationships as well as her reaction to certain events. Hutch was a perfect example of there is more to a man than his career or his looks.

I was looking for something fluffy, not too deep and short with a high heat level. This certainly met this need and I came away satisfied.

No cliffhanger
Standalone Novella
Told from Hutch's POV in the prologue and epilogue
Told from Valen's POV the rest of the book
Minor editing issues

I have loved every book by this author I have read so I was excited to get another one from her, even if it was a novella. Overall it was a good book, it just didn't love up to all the amazing books I have read from this author in the past.

This might be the dirtiest of all her books as well. Don't get me wrong, I love a good erotic book, but there were times it seemed a little much.

Valen is a frog hog. That means a girl who sleeps with a bunch of Navy Seals. When she finally makes her way to Hutch she learns that not all Seals want to bag and tag women. Some, or at least one, is looking for something real.

Hutch comes off as kind of a jerk in the beginning of the book. I was worried the author wouldn't be able to redeem him but she did. He is also hiding a massive secret.

If you are looking for an alpha male, who has a little bit of baggage but deep down is a romantic this is the Novella for you. Just be warned there might be some over the top moments between these two.

I've always dived straight into Rachel Robinson's books as soon as they release and this one was no exception. Rachel does 5 stars again with this quick and witty read. Even though it is short, Frog Hog packs a sexy punch in with a lot of fun. Valen is a strong heroine who knows what she wants and is confident she can get it (or him in this case!) while Hutch is an alpha SEAL with a huge heart. I would absolutely recommend any readers, especially those who might be new to Rachel's books, pick this one up!

I absolutely love Rachel's Seal series & knew I would like this lil novella which I did.

This quick steamy read was packed with dirtiness, which it promised, as well as some moments that will make your head spin (it did mine). I laughed, snorted & swooned for most of it, but there were some elements that didn't quite grab me.

I loved Hutch's character & story, but I would have loved him to have a full story of his own, it was a bit deep & a little rushed to cram it all in a novella - because this man had a lot to say & show.

Good little read for a Sunday afternoon !

Couldn't finish

I think I was only 30 percent into it and tried to find n ish it but I just couldn't. The characters were good and the premise of the book was great. However the story was slow for me I kept waiting for something but it was just a waiting game. This is no way should persuade you to not read it but from my point of view it was just slow going. Valen slept with a whole bunch of seals so what Hutch knew whAt he was getting into. She never made anything a secret and I liked that she wasn't ashamed of her sexescapades.

4.5 Stars! Wow. I had no idea I'd love a novella quite like I did this one! In the beginning I was intrigued by Hutch and why he was being so secretive. Did he not want to scare Valen off? Did he stalk her? What's going on here? But the two are burning up the sheets! I liked how funny and dirty talking and just plain cute the two of them are together. And with all of the books I read lately, I liked that this was a quick and flirty read. Give it to me and let me have my quick happy.

I'm not sure how I feel about this book. I almost DNF-ed a couple of times. I didn't like how many men she was with before him(some of his friends too) the thing at the end with the picture he shows her....It gave me the creeps and felt weird and gross to me. Also I went in blind so I didn't know About the dead spouse.I hate these type of books. I won't read a book if there is a dead spouse.

This is a fun and flirty read that I really enjoyed. Valen and Hutch have great chemistry and you can definitely feel the connection between them, their banter also had me laughing out loud in places. I did find it a little difficult to relate to Valen at first but she soon grew on me and I actually found myself really liking her.

Hutch and Valen...

After reading Crazy Good, I fell completely in love with this author.

Frog Hog though, was totally different to what RR normally writes...and sadly I didn't care for Valen's character.

Raunchy and sexy short read...
