This book made me feel so many emotions. I laughed I cried, I blushed and I could relate to this book in some ways. I loved the storyline and C.J. Welles did an amazing job. Thanks C.J. for your words, loved it xx
I find myself at a loss for words to explain how wonderful Forever Yours by C.J. Welles was to read. This book has everything you might desire or wished when reading a great book, such as raw passion, steamy dialogues, some super hot sexy scenes but most importantly emotions that makes you connect on a deeper level with the characters in the book. This book has undeniable chemistry from the start, passion, desire and family values that will melt your heart. Forever Yours invites us to let go of our inhibitions and just live. As we become adults we tend to let social requirements, the desire to be accepted, to fit in dictate how we should live our lives, how not to be our true selves. Forever Yours wants us to always remain a kid at heart, not afraid to take risks, to gamble in the pursuit of our goals and dreams. We should never lose our inner light, our smile, our hunger and fierceness for discovery, adventure...
Talon will wreck you only to heal you right after.
It is truly an amazing book! A must read...
I voluntarily submitted an ARC review for this book.
Forever Yours by C.J. Welles focuses on Presley and Taj who have been best friends since Presley was five years old. Inseparable, one day everything changes as love, mistakes and jealousy are thrown into the mix and Presley and Taj wonder if things can ever be the same again.
If I had to describe Forever Yours in one sentence I would say: Nicholas Sparks – but better. It has all the emotion of much-loved favourites like The Notebook, minus the cheesy aspects that some of Sparks books can have. I think Welles achieved this by keeping the story real. There is no sugar coating. Instead, there is something refreshingly normal about the characters. mostly teenagers who are caught up in sex, school and underage drinking. In fact, the story itself runs in a very normal sequence of unrequited love until we reach part two and Welles really ramps things up; leaving me a blubbering mess as a result.
Forever Yours has some of the most beautiful characters I have ever met. I read the author’s beforehand and Welles wrote that it took her a long time to fall in love with Taj. I never really fell in love with him and felt like I couldn’t trust him, right until the end of the book. It was Tommy who really stood out for me. While I was unsure of him from his introduction, he ended up leaving a dent in my heart and is a character I will never forget.
Presley is probably the most complex character in Forever Yours, but not too complex that she becomes difficult to relate to. She is unsure of herself and lacks confidence, on top of being bullied at school. She also gets herself into a situation which is difficult but also rather common in everyday life. However, what I liked most about her was the personal journey she takes. As each chapter passes by, we see Presley become a mature, strong young woman, and I really enjoyed this.
The blurb of Forever Yours really doesn’t do the book justice, but then neither does this review. All I can say is go and grab a copy for yourself and see experience this absolute tear jerker Welles has created.
I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Forever Yours is a rollercoaster of emotions that range from frustration, to tears, then leaving you satisfied by the epilogue. Books rarely make me cry but this one absolutely did. C.J. Welles got me so attached to these characters where I was feeling all of their emotions right along with them. My heart was ripped out, then it was put back together again just to be ripped out and stomped on some more... but don't fret, there is a happy ending, although it is bittersweet. I won't give away any spoilers about the characters involved or the plot because it was totally unexpected, and it's best to go into this book blind. I will say that Presley is such a strong character with all of the heartache and turmoil she was put through, but she pulled herself together and did what's best for her and for those she loved. She found her happily ever after, even after she had to climb mountains and go through hell to get there.
My only problem with this story is that I need more of Presley and Taj! By the ending, I was left wanting their story to keep continuing because I got so attached to them. I hope in the future, C.J. Welles writes a sweet novella so I can catch up with Pres and Taj later! xx
A great read from C.J Welles. It's a book that will send you on a rollercoaster of emotions, as we follow the up and downs of friendship, love and life!
Presley and Taj have been the best of friends for the last twelve years, but more recently Presley has realised she feels more for Taj than just friendship but he just doesn't notice her in that way leading her into the arms of one of his friends Tommy. When life throws Presley a curve ball it leaves her needing her best friend more than anything but he just walks away leaving her heartbroken. A couple of years later and Taj returns at a time when Presley is going through hell but is it just to late for him and Presley. Is there any chance that she could ever learn to trust him again after he shredded her heart years before?
***Complimentary copy received for an honest review***
Wow...............what a brilliant story. I was pulled into from the first page and stayed there until the read the last word, watching it play out in my head while reading the words on the page. This story took me on a bit of an emotional rollercoaster ride, I could feel every emotion that the characters felt, if they laughed I did, if they cried I did. I thought this was a very powerful story, I highly recommend it, if your like me make sure you have tissues at the ready.
What can I say? This book was an emotional rollercoaster from the get go. I love all the characters in this book. I could feel everything Presley felt. This book was full of surprises and sexy moments. Taj captured my heart from the beginning. I love the story of a friendship that was so much more but they just couldn't see it. And by the end they had their happy ending. I recommend this book to anyone who loves a good emotional romance
Roller coaster of emotions. So deep, so much love involved but also heart break, definitely a roller coaster that gets you hooked to the story from start to finish. My heart was broken, than glued together, than shattered in millions pieces than I'm okay again. Each chapter made me want to see what's next. Loved it!!! Taj and Presley, always and forever ❤️
I read this book in 3 days (which is fast for me because of work). I absolutely loved it. I was slightly annoyed by the grammar errors and the excessive use of the word arse, but I couldn't put this book down! It was perfectly imperfect!
A beautiful second chance love story that brings out real emotions. I could not put it down and had to read in one go. Thank you for writing such a beautiful story!
Best Friends living next door to each other Presley has fallen for Taj Love, jealousy and stupidity tears their friendship apart. A second chance can be the most difficult struggle yet.
Summary: This is a second chance romance. Spoilers/trigger warnings (if any) and final thoughts can be found below.
This story follows Presley and Taj. They meet as young children and form an immediate friendship which continues for the next several years. Taj is a couple of years older than the FMC, so there is a point where he is no longer at the school with her. During this time, she endures some bullying from the person that the MMC is dating/hooking up with. It’s very clear that this bully is jealous of the FMC and the relationship she has with the MMC. Through diary entries and inner monologues, we learned that the FMC has stronger feelings for the MMC that extend beyond friendship and she’s very conflicted by this. One night at a party, after seeing the MMC with the person that is bullying her, she makes a decision that she cannot come back from which changes her relationship with the MMC.
This book is told in two parts. When part two starts, about a year and a half has passed. The FMC receives some devastating and life changing news. As she struggles with coming to terms with this new life she has been forced into, Taj is there forcing memories of the past which causes her to question her true feelings for him while she is dealing with grief and guilt. Eventually she sorts through those feelings to recognize her love for Taj and she wants him in her life which is all that he wants.
⚠️SPOILERS/DETAILED TRIGGERS⚠️
*The bullying is on page and descriptive *Tommy passes away at the start of part 2 which was so incredibly sad. 🌶️: 1/5
Final thoughts: I don’t believe I was the target audience for this book. This was definitely a story that for me, I had to dig through the top of the pile to try and get to the bones underneath it. Sadly, the pile was just too big. There was so much non-important stuff included. So much detail about things that added absolutely nothing to the story. It was also repetitive. Like literal lines repeating themselves in the same scene. This reminded me so much of the blue valley high series by MJ Fields.
I was not prepared for the abrupt ending. I’m assuming since this is labeled as book one additional books in the series will provide some closure or updates to the secondary characters, because what about Pops???
Anyone, I guess I’ll just have to keep wondering that because I don’t intend to read any more by this author. I made that mistake with the BVH series and won’t do that again.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Have a box of tissues ready! I did not expect the way this story unfolded. It definitely had my interest from the beginning and had my emotions going everywhere. This was a stay up and read book. It’s based out of Australia so not your typical teenage high school years, but the author does amazing in explaining it to you. I really wanted more, more of their future, a piece of me wanted more of the possibility (don’t want to give anything away). I definitely recommend this book, it has some spice, but it’s not too crazy. Some of the tropes are, second chances, childhood best friends, unexpected pregnancy, trauma, grief, guilt, found family. Definitely add this one to your list.
It kept me engaged the whole way through. Most of the book occurs while they’re in their late teens and I don’t know if it was on purpose or it just ended up being that way but the writing definitely gives off 17 year old vibes so I struggled a lot with that through the entire book. It also really wasn’t the tear jerker that I felt I was promised. I feel like I couldn’t really cry when I was supposed to because I was so frustrated with all of the characters and their life choices. All I can say is apparently everyone in Australia is a baby making machine because approximately 67 babies are had in this 400 page book.
What a ride!! I absolutely loved this romance novel and could not put it down. I loved Tommy because he was the perfect book boyfriend. I enjoyed how Tommy was there for Presley from the get and how he went after what he wanted! Taj had a lot of growing up to do. Presley, Taj and Tommy were well developed characters. Read this book!!! Seriously, you will get lost in the pages! It is soooooo good! I also enjoyed Kayden and how he was fierce and you could tell he loved Presley.
An incredible angst-filled read that has had me cursing the author, crying, laughing and crying a little bit more.
Why you gotta do Tommy like that? It's not fair! I may never forgive the author for this!
Taj and Presley were childhood best friends, secretly in love with each other but too dumb to see it. Years separate them but then suddenly they're connecting again, and these two old friends become so much more! That final epilogue was the perfect ending to this heart breaking story!
What a roller coaster of emotions. I did not expect to cry so many times. This story has so much depth to it, there’s love, heartbreak, second chances, friendships and found family. If you need to be emotionally wrecked, this is the book for you.
