Carrie's day went from bad to worse.
An engineer, she designed and built bleeding edge combat starships, the kind that kept Earth safe from alien invasion. Focused on her work, she lost her fiancé and her job on the same day. Oh, and her mother told her to get surgery to fix the junk in her trunk.
No thank you.
She volunteered to be matched to a Mahdfel warrior. Being in space with the warrior aliens was the only way to pursue her research. Face to face with her muscular new husband, their instant chemistry took her breath away. Falling into bed was easy but falling in love? And what were they going to do now that she was pregnant?
Vox was good for a laugh but was he daddy material?

Vox had dreamed of a mate for years.
He studied Earth cultural and courtship rituals. He even learned to eat strange Earth food, waiting for the day his mate arrived.
From the moment the curvy human woman stepped onto his ship, he knew she was everything he’d craved and their sizzling attraction can't be denied. Smart, determined and too serious, he vows to bring a smile to his mate’s face. And when she says he doesn’t take anything seriously? Carrie has successfully avoided the Mahdfel marriage draft for five years by being engaged to her brother's best friend and father's business partner. Time is ticking and her 25th birthday is just around the corner, which is when her exemption ends if she doesn't marry Tucker. An unfortunate family dinner causes Carrie to end her engagement and three days later the U.S. Military is knocking at her door to transport her to her alien husband, Vox. Vox and Carrie have never met in person, but it turns out they have been communicating electronically for months. Carrie is the designer behind the spy-craft that Vox is test flying. Now they can work side-by-side on Carrie's design and their relationship. As usual, the hunky Mahdfel warrior fails to understand human women and constantly botches his attempts to communicate with Carrie. Family prejudices and expectations also stand in their way. At the end of the day, the two will have to learn to forgive and accept the importance of family.

Every time I think I have read my favorite Warlord Brides book, I read a new one that takes its place. What makes Vox so much funnier than the other Mahdfels is that he spent years studying human dating customs because he was certain his mate was human. When he gets her, all his preparation wasn't good enough for the real thing. Carrie is another wonderfully independent woman who has no problem putting her hulky husband in his place. Not a chapter goes by without me laughing way too loudly. Another excellent story, Ms. Cummings.

"A warrior is patient." And passionate!

Nancey Cummings just can't write a bad alien sci-fi romance. From the Fremm to the Etlon and now the Sangrin, her colorful alpha alien hunks offer ignominious defeat to their Suhlik enemies, and a panty-melting version of true love and fidelity to their fated mates. (Makes you wonder why they'd need a forced mate-by-lottery scheme to procreate and preserve the species, but there it is.) Vox, the ever-patient Sangrin test pilot, is sure his genetically matched human mate is out there. When talented engineer Carrie finally dumps her user fiancé and defies her controlling, hypercritical, cold-hearted family, she's immediately matched to Vox, and the insta-lust is on. Ms. Cummings makes it work with humor, tenderness, and passion. Her characters win your respect, and then win your heart. The over-arcing Suhlik/Mahdfel war storyline spans the series and integrates characters from previous novels, but there's background enough to make Vox work as a stand-alone. The test-spacecraft/sabotage plot of this novel moves along and supports the romance well. The writing is super and the editing likewise. If you're a fan of this genre, Nancey Cummings deserves to be on your one-click list. She's sure on mine.

Vox, devil-may-care friend of Daisy and Meridian and all around good guy, gets his turn to find his special lady friend and, well, Vox is a fun guy who throws himself all in to everything he does. As you can imagine, he doesn't cut corners when it comes to wooing his genetic match. Which isn't to say he doesn't make a few mistakes (because they all do!), but he's sexy and attentive and pretty darn enamored of Carrie.

As for Carrie, the realization that her (now-ex) fiance is a dud and her job was never taken seriously by her family has her setting out for the unknown. The stars align by putting her on the ship her prototype is being tested and pairing her with the pilot whose voice she's fantasized over. Things get a little sticky when she starts to realize the issues she's been having with the prototype aren't the regular run of the mill bugs that need to be worked out.

Sexy times, military-minded aliens trying to socialize, and a smidge of betrayal from an unlikely place. Good stuff.

Warriors of Sangrin (4)

Carrie is an engineer at her father's company, she designed a new fighter for the Madhfel. As the fighter is now in space on a ship being tested, she keeps in contact with the test pilot Vox. She has been engaged for nearly 5 yrs, someone suggested by her father. They go to dinner where her father tells her he's moving her to PR with her fiancee's approval, she'll be busy having babies soon anyway. Her mother tells her they'll get her surgery to improve her looks, make her thinner. Horrified she says no and leaves. Then she has her birthday, is tested and matched to Vox, with a few essentials for her "baby" she's sent into space. Vox was delighted to be matched, races off to shower and change, when he arrived to greet his wife, she was missing, she'd gone to find her "baby" in the hanger. For someone who dosnt read Sci Fi, I'll admit to getting very attached to these characters, ho hum 2 more left still.

I was so excited for this one. Vox is more laid back, he understand humans more and he is just an all around great guy. I was excited to see him find love after the small teaser in the last book.

Vox, as I said is so laid back but that doesn't mean that he can't be an alpha protective man when it comes to his mate. I truly loved and admired everything about him.

Carrie was easy to love. She took everything easily and I lobe that she gave 110% with everything.

I really like how different this story was from the start. It gave us a different aspect to Carrie and helped me identify with her more. As the story progressed I was just as hooked as I was with all the other.

Overall, another awesome book in this series. Light drama, a fun mystery, and the writing seems to flow better with each book. Never up with a baby book, and I am excited to read it. 4 stars #2OCCJD

aww, I liked this story the best. Vox is the most playful of the men. He's the "adopted" brother of Daisy and Meridian so he's got a lot of human terminology and pop culture in his head. He's very sweet. Carrie is a spaceship engineer, with a family who is less than supportive and a fianceé who is using her as a stepping stone. Being engaged keeps her from being drafted into the mate match. Fed up. She quits her job, breaks if the engaged and in matched almost immediately. I love that Carrie is not whiny and annoying like the last to females. She's just all about her work and wanted to do that. I enjoyed the fact that she did not hesitate to accept Vox as her mate and was open to being with him. I didn't think I was going to get much drama in this book and then, BANG!!! PLOT TWIST!!! and you would not even believe what happened. Really great read.

Vox #4 09/18/2022

Carrie isn’t having a great evening with her family and fiancé they are ganging up on her and telling her how her life is going to change the way they want. She has had enough so she tells them she quits and after storming out she also breaks it off with her fiancé. In three days is her birthday she will now be tested to see if she is a match to be a Alien bride. Well she is and she is sent to her mate but she is also sent to the battle cruiser where her experimental space craft is once she finds it and it’s broken. Vox has arrived to retrieve is new mate but she isn’t at the teleportation station now he’s upset and has to hunt her down but once he finds her he couldn’t be more happier. But thing are still going on with her space craft so they must find out who is behind it. So enjoy another good read!!

I loved this story. Well written and very entertaining, it made me laugh at a few spots. Steam story but not nasty. It's the story of 2 people taking their destiny in hand and finding each other. Carrie, an engineer for her family spaceship design and building company finally gets fed up with her family and fiance, gets tested to see if she is a candidate to become a bride, and ends up a match to Vox. Next comes action, sabotage and family interactions. I liked that Vox had an upbeat personality that was a hoot. I received a copy for free and i chose to write this review - Great book for a lunch time read.

A charming novella about love in space! Vox has been waiting for years to be matched to a human female and his lucky day arrives with a feisty female engineer ready to break away from her annoying family on Earth and take a chance that life with a hunky alien will be better. The author builds a picture of an uber-protective alien hero with a heart of gold. There is humor, some suspense, plenty of steam and adventure as the two work to succeed at their relationship.

I received an ARC of this book from the author at no cost. This is my voluntary and honest review.

Vox is such a lovable character that he captured my attention in the other stories. I was so glad he finally got his own. When Carrie's job was taken away and a series of other things happened at the same time, she was more than willing to be tested for the mate program on her birthday. Vox and Carrie have no trouble getting along but there is still some trouble coming their way. They need to come up with a plan and work together to fix it before it is too late. I really loved reading about these two. I was gifted an ARC for an honest review.

Vox is a funny and cheerful Mahdfel warrior while his mate, Carrie, is an engineer who designed a special combat starship. Vox was the pilot for that starship and submitted reports to the engineer. Carrie thought he had a sexy voice so when she lost her job and fiance, she decided to volunteer to be matched to a Mahdfel warrior. Her and Vox were matched and, though she might not have such strong ideas of mates as Vox, she finds him as sexy as his voice. She finds herself slowly falling in love with Vox even before she found out she was pregnant. They get their happily ever after.

Loved this book!!

I am so glad Vox finally got his own story. I Loved it!! Carrie is a genius. She has developed a spacecraft, Sly Fox. She loves working on her project. When she realizes that her father is taking her off the project and her fiance only wants to marry her for a business merger she is furious. Newly single when her birthday comes she goes to be matched to the aliens that saved earth. She is matched to Vox. It is a cute story. Enjoy!!

Strong female lead who is fed up with her family trying to run her life, she figures if she can't have what she wants from them, might as well mate an alien. Her mate turns out to be the alien who's been test piloting her project space craft. There is humor in their communication problems, drama left over from Earth and growth between the characters.

I received an ARC and have voluntarily chosen to review it here.

Can be skipped

I was looking forward to Vox's story, but this wasn't worth reading. The editing is horrible, and the story is boring. I loved this series up until now. The h was superficial and boring and Vox was nothing like he was portrayed in the previous books. The beginning of the story was good, it falsely presented a depth that the characters lacked. Nothing happens, this one can be skipped.

Vox

I actually laughed out loud two or three times at a turn of phrase. Otherwise, the book is riddled with “wrong word” errors. I personally find this very annoying. The storyline was good with no one encountering the Suhlik race. The rampant errors however, make the book almost unreadable. Just like the rest of them. There are sexual scenes that may offend some readers.

Audible version. Pretty tame for a sci-fi alien bride romance. I’m used to a bit more. I have read books 1-4 they are ok. Quick and easy reads. This one was the most fun so far, more of insta-love and mutual want, love, respect. H has been getting ready for his mate forever - h just decided she wanted a mate and came in eyes wide open. It was pretty good.

I loved the Warlord series,(this is one too) but these books were on another platform that I worked hard on to read, (purchased by $ and time with stupid long ads) and now, I can't read them there anymore but have to BUY them to be able to read again on kindle. It why 2 stars. I've reread several repeatedly, but now I have to start from scratch? Great author, but I'm not sure I like how she does business. There's nothing like giving your loyal readers the bird. I wouldn't mind buying them on Kindle in addition to having them on the other platform, but I think this is crap.

I read this through KU. The summary was a bit misleading as to how and why the female lead seeks out an alien partner. That aside, there is something beyond the horrible editing that makes this book just...less. The dialogue is awkward and the romance an unrealistic insta-love. The premise was exciting and had merit but never really reached its potential. Hence, 2 stars.

Sexy Alien Love

I could not wait for Vox's story and it did not disappoint. Carrie's serious nature is a great foil to Vox's carefree attitude. There story is highly entertaining.

The Engineer and the Flyboy

Cute story with an amazingly intelligent heroine and the steps she takes to stand up for herself.

I would have enjoyed more character development with the heroine and hero. A little too instalove.

Some minor editing issues.

I love Vox! Just picture his grin with the tip of one fang hanging over his bottom lip! That tells me funny, charming, and goofy. Be prepared, this book gets sexy really fast and stays that way. Good for Vox!

Very enjoyable

I’m very glad Vox found his love! He deserved it so many times over. He’s a good warrior, all good warriors deserve good wives! I can’t wait to find out if Daisy and Meridan as well as Voxs female have babies too!

Good story, editing not great

I enjoy the series but the grammar issues are starting to get a little annoying. The editing has been iffy in previous books but this one was a bit worse. I will keep reading the series but I'm decreasing the rating because of this.

Vox unexpectantly receives his bride who is the warlord's new mechanic, Carrie. Carrie has just escaped her family by signing up for the program. Vox and Carrie work together on new fighters for the warrior of Sangrin. Very well written with new brides for more of the warriors.

Awesome!

I loved the characters, Vox and Carrie. The storyline was super enjoyable. Vox is such a good mate. It was so cool that Carrie designed Vox’s space craft. Carrie getting pregnant right away was a fun twist to the story. I can’t get enough of this series.

Okay, Vox is adorable but damn I absolutely loved Carrie! She was extremely relatable and cute! Her and Vox made a great couple and the book gave me warm fuzzies. My only wish was I wish it was longer so I could get more out of them! Another winner in a series I'm falling for.
