I liked the first book, but this was even better! It's way more fast-paced than the first and very emotional. The villain in this one, Alana, is charismatic and pretty likeable, honestly, but at the same time you're still rooting for Rose and her friends to win. Also: don't get me wrong, I liked Rose and Kallias in book 1, but Rose and Kara's chemistry is out of this world! Definitely rooting for them! Reading the next one soon. I can't wait.

I said this about book 1 and I’ll say it again. Rose is hilarious! I love the sass! And Kara? She’s got your heart the minute you meet her! 😍 I’ve never shipped a couple so f——ing hard! The ladies in this series are so badass and hot and queer, I love it! This one absolutely moves faster than the first but in the best ways! This book and book 3 are the ones that officially established britney jackson as my new favorite author!

Absolutely stunning continuation of Rose's journey through the world of darkness and vampires. The plot is well-paced and addicting, and the world-building is ironclad. The Shadow-Hero tension between her and Alana is magnificent. A special treat was that Jackson allowed every character to have good and bad traits, even our heroine Rose. For example, while we love Rose for her entertaining snark and her big, warm heart, those traits are connected to why she keeps risking her life and values herself so little. I was right beside Kallis in tearing my hair out over it.

I'm already reading the next book, The Assassins of Light. Jackson's Creatures of Darkness continues to be my favorite vampire book series, and I still recommend it to vampire fans everywhere!

I seriously love the characters in this book... well, Kallias is really annoying me, but I love the characters we've been introduced to, specifically Kara and Elise. This was a hard one to read though, because we're meant to dislike the bad guys/girls... but this one was conflicting for me.

I love how the story from the first book to this one was so seamless because we were already getting hints of what to expect, and then in this book... you're getting hints for what's coming next.

Anyway, I can't wait to see Rose kick some arse... without getting herself hurt in the process hehe.

Even more impressed by this one. I agree with other reviewers, this book is better than the first. It’s fast-paced and engaging. I lost sleep over this book because it was so good. Alana is a very interesting villain, and the sexy slow burn romance between Rose and Kara was beautifully done. I’ll be starting the next one immediately.

Book 2 picked up pretty much right where we left off. I really enjoyed this one. I feel like this is where the story really starts to take off.

I don’t think Kallias is a bad dude, I’m just really over his attitude in this one. Erik is great as always. Really enjoyed Kara here. She is such a fun refreshing character.

Rose continues to be the sarcastic badass she was in book 1.

Better than the first book to be sure! Better story, better villain, better characters, better romance! It's just all around better.

The first book had a decent plot, but the story itself kind of plodded along in places. It was a slower read that felt like it could've gone much faster without some of the repetitive hurdles thrown throughout that book.

This book is much better paced and tries to tone down on the repetitive dialogue. Alana also has much more depth than Theron could ever dream of. She's one of the best thought out villains I've read about in a long time. The relationships between Rose and her sort-of beaus develops faster and are a touch more believable here, as her attitude isn't so much, "Leave me alone. I don't need you." as actually curious and explorative the way she's supposed to be from the start.

Really, the only thing keeping me from giving this a perfect score are some small inconsistencies in the story. So, the ending didn't really surprise me, but it did go out with some flare.

A great 2nd instalment!

Wow! What a great 2nd instalment of this series of 4 books. With Rose becoming slowly darker and her relationship with Kara unfolding, I’m looking forward to book 3 with anticipation.
How fantastic that Britney Jackson has created this whole other world with its own rules and moral codes, hiding in plain sight, and with an ancient history. I’m loving this series so far.

Epic!

Wow, this story is huge. It is grand and sweeping. I’ve never before been so wrapped up in a vampire saga like this one. Love Rose’s snarky comments at inappropriate times. Love the way she clings to her compassion. Love her attraction to Kara. This is an excellent installment to this epic series.

DNF. I have tried to like this series but all the characters feel childish and I can’t get past the dialogues anymore.

Following directly on from the previous book, Rose is learning to deal with her new life as a vampire, but something sinister is afoot. Alana is back in the picture, and she's creating a mess, murdering a lot of humans, and leaving a message behind. The group travel overseas to try and stop her, and there Rose meets Kara, the sexy viking vampire, second in command of the Tomb of Blood.

The first book was great. This one is better. So much better. Kara is an awesome character, flaws and all, and her and Rose's interactions (and tension, flirting, etc) is just so fun to read. There is more than just something between them, even if it is all slow-burn.

And Alana, she is just evil (though not without all of her trauma and flaws as well).

It is very much the sort of tale that draws you in and makes you invested in the characters. Not every decision is sensible, but they certainly fit with the characters, and it makes you want to just keep reading.

Thoroughly enjoyed the story, and eagerly reading the third book now.

The pacing in book 2 is much faster. The dialogues are so witty and funny. I really liked all the characters in this series, especially the new characters introduced in book 2, Kara and Elise.

Now onto book 3..
