The unpredictable truth will be revealed in Payback, the stunning conclusion to Kristen Simmons’ Edgar-nominated thriller series that started with The Deceivers...
Brynn Hilder has conned a lot of people. From the spoiled rich kids of Sikawa City to her mom's loser ex-boyfriend, from a motorcycle gang to a senator's son. If there was money to be gained, or a secret to uncover, she figured out how to get it done. And thanks to Vale Hall and its director, Dr. David Odin, she's found a family of hustlers just like her.
Together, Brynn and her friends have overcome doubt, deceit, and betrayal to unearth the truth--a truth even a group of professional scammers couldn't have predicted.
And now they must tackle the biggest con artist of them all: the man who brought them all together.

Payback is a great finale to one of my favorite series of all time. Though it's not my favorite in the series, I still love this book with my whole heart. We got so many sweet Henry moments in this book. I'd literally do anything for him and I was on edge the whole time while reading this book because I was hoping that nothing bad would happen to that little cinnamon roll. I also found myself growing to love characters that I never thought I could care for in this book like Geri and Moore. Kristen Simmons always blows me away with her lovable characters and her ability to have a character change throughout the course of a single book.
This book started off quite a bit darker than the previous two books. It very much had Riverdale vibes, but it was much better written than Riverdale. There was no sex every two seconds and cringey one liners, but there was the intense plot twists and heart pounding suspense moments that Riverdale has.
One thing that I've found to appreciate about Kristen's young adult books is that in her spicy scenes, she goes above and beyond to encourage safe sex. Though it may seem like a simple thing to some people, making the effort to include safe sex practices in her books is an important step in normalizing condoms and other safety measures.
Overall I highly recommend this series to everyone. Each book will leave you craving for more and I guarantee you that you'll fall in love with the characters.
A solid conclusion to a very twisty trilogy! Payback wraps up all the plot threads we've been working up to in a satisfying way, and you get a solid dose of the romance you've probably been wanting more of as well.
It's hard to say much this far into the series, but while the beginning was a little slow to get going and the pacing occasionally could have been tighter without so much of being in class at Vale Hall, overall I thought it was great and had some twists I was not expecting. For much of the book I was on the edge of my seat, worried whether my favorite characters would make it through alive or unscathed! The danger levels are high, but it's time for payback. If you haven't tried the series yet, I definitely recommend it. Vale Hall is a school for teen con artists, but things get very complicated...
I received an advance copy of this book for review via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
This series was a great surprise. I didn't know what to expect when I picked up the first book, but I was immediately hooked. And let me say, the conclusion did not let me down.
In the previous two books, Brynn and the gang were busy uncovering the secrets of Vale Hall and their leader, Mr. Odin. Now that they think they have all of the secrets, it's time to bring those to light and take down Odin for good. The only problem is, they're mostly teenagers going against a very rich and powerful man. Their journey isn't easy and Simmons isn't done with the surprises. Let's just say, there were some jaw dropping moments that I did not see coming.
One thing that has stayed consistent in this series is the friendships. I love this group of people and how supportive they are of each other. I mean, they literally throw themselves into danger for each other over and over. That's loyalty. And can I just say, Henry is the literal best thing of this series. Protect Henry at all costs.
Another thing that I absolutely loved was how Simmons kept the pace up. This was a book where, as a reader, we had to feel the intensity and seriousness of the situations. And let me tell you, I felt it all. I could not put the book down. I read it in one sitting because I just needed to know how it was going to end!
This was a fantastic series. I recommend it to anyone who likes high stake thriller/mysteries. Smart, fast paced and witty. Loved it!
Oh my gosh. I just finished this, and I seriously have no idea what to say. This book was absolute perfection. Perfect characters, perfect plot, and the perfect resolution to this series. I know that even if I read this every day for the next three months, I would still be discovering new nuances and twists. Seriously, if you haven't read this series, please pick it up. It's one of the best I've read over the past year.
Payback is the epic conclusion to the Vale Hall series. In it, Brynn and the rest of her gang have learned hidden truths, and taken on their biggest challenge of all: conning Dr. Odin. Secrets are unfolded, and revenge is the name of the game. A journey of deceit, finding love, and discovering the truth, this book will not disappoint!
Somehow, this book took a cast of ten characters, and gave every one of them development. Seriously, I loved them all! Grayson has been my favorite since book one, and although I can't say too much because spoilers, I loved his resolution. Talk about character development! His arc was by far the most complicated of any character, and I love him with my whole heart. Also, his romance with Henry was seriously adorbs!!!! Every time they were on the page together, I was grinning like a maniac, because I loved them so much. I would buy an entire book on them alone, they were so soft and blushy and a happiness boost by themselves.
And talk about showcasing female friendship!! Geri got so much development in this one, and I loved it. Instead of simply villainizing her like so many other authors do to female characters, we got redemption! I loved watching all of her schemes coming to fruition, and she was a great inclusion to this series!
Ok, I promise I'm done with raving about characters for the time being, so lets rant about the plot now! This book may just be the twistiest I've read. Every chapter, some new scheme or plan was being developed, and they all combined perfectly. Not in an unrealistic perfect way, just in a heart-stopping climax sort of way. I can totally see myself rereading this over and over again, it's just that thrilling. I'm not even a fan of thrillers, but I loved this.
I'm still not the hugest fan of Caleb and Brynn's romance, but Henry and Grayson made up for it. Brynn and Caleb were just too tame, too normal for me. Nothing about them made me hunger for more. I'm not complaining, it just didn't interest me all that much.
I'm still a bit thrown off by the utter excellency of this book, so I apologize if my review is a bit scattered. This book is literal perfection though, and I want everyone to read this as soon as they can! It's full of twists and conflicted characters, which are all the things I look for in books, so this was right up my alley.
Thanks to Netgalley and Kristen Simmons for providing a free copy in exchange for an honest review!
Vale Hall is an elite boarding school where a select few students (each plucked from troubled backgrounds) get to prepare for the future and colleges of their dreams. In truth, though, it’s a bit shadier than that. Vale Hall is really a clandestine training ground for con artists (run by Dr. Odin), and there is much that is expected of the scholarship students (among them, Brynn Hilder). Rule one: follow the rules.
Vale Hall is Brynn’s ticket out of Devon Park — a rough neighborhood that’s left Brynn with a childhood of emotional scars. It’s Brynn’s only shot at a future. And with so much at stake, the lines between right and wrong are becoming increasingly difficult to navigate — especially when the bad guys are no longer as clearly distinguishable from the rest of the pack. The question is: who and what is Brynn willing to sacrifice to protect her future, her friends, and to keep her mother safe? Brynn grew up running cons (learned the trade from her mother’s ex), but this con might just be the one to break her.
The plot twists are heart-stopping. The action is edge-of-your seat. There’s so much at stake here, not just for Sikawa City or Brynn, but for the entire cast of characters. Forever huggable Henry, morally gray Grayson, and the-first-boyfriend-we-all-wish-we’d-had Caleb Matsuki… and Charlotte and Sam, and, yes, even Geri! Simmons just has a way with characters — even her secondary stars get full-fledged character arcs! They glow on the page, making the dialogue some of the best I’ve read. Prepare to love, hate, care, and be emotionally invested. The Vale Hall trilogy is one of my must-read recommendations for all those who love YA suspense, mystery, a great heist story — or all three!
Payback is the third and final installment in author Kristen Simmons Vale Hall trilogy. The Vale Hall series follows Brynn Hilder who is from a poor and rough neighborhood called Devon Park. She has runs cons and odd jobs to stay afloat and alive, finally thinking she has a chance at getting out when she is recruited to attend a secret private school specializing in hustles, schemes and overall mayhem. The school is led by Dr. Odin, a mysterious and powerful man who will stop at nothing for what he cares about. But things are changing quickly and Brynn must plan the con of a lifetime in order to save her mother and her friends.
this was the best book of the series. i got fulfillment of all the ships i wanted and i got to see a satisfying conclusion to this series. i really liked all the characters in this book because we saw suchhhhh development. mwah this couldn’t have ended better and i’m sad it is over.
* I received an e-arc from Netgalley and the author in exchange for an honest review*
Epic conclusion to an amazing series! These books are definitely underrated and I hope that with Payback’s release, that more people pick them up. There were so many twists and turns, and definitely some surprises! If you like a good mystery, you definitely want to binge this series.
Vale Hall is a school for con artists and things get even more complicated in this conclusion. I often found myself on the edge of my seat, hoping for the best for these characters I’ve come to care so much about. Together, Brynn Hilder and her friends must overcome doubt, lies, and betrayal to unearth the truth. They must take on the biggest con artist of them all, the man who’s responsible for bringing them all together in the first place.
This book wrapped things up perfectly, and even better than I expected. Please do check it out! It’s releasing on February 2, 2021, so be sure to add it to your TBR. There’s still a little time left to preorder or request at your local library as well.
A definite conclusion to an epic 3 part series woven with deceit, masterful cons, and secrets that are always brewing to be spilled at any moment, and the results could spell disaster. I was on the edge of my seat for the entire book, heck, this whole series. Sometimes I thought I knew what the truth was and how things would play out, then wham another plot twist. Vale hall is a school for con artists, but things are not always what they seem. Who is the con artist?
This one really closed things up in a good way. I will admit to be worried a couple of times. It seemed like Dr. O was going to beat the kids, despite the plan they had, despite the help that they found. In the end though it was satisfying, you gotta love seeing an evil person being taken down and in such a public format.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I will not spoil this for anyone so no details but I will say - what an amazing end to a series! Simmons delivered on a twisty, turny story that will have you second-guessing what you think is going to happen next!
The characters, the plot, the writing - all amazing and I can't recommend this series and author enough.
I'm really, really looking forward to whatever Kristen writes next!
I received a copy of Payback in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Payback is the third and final novel in Kristen Simmon's Vale Hall Trilogy. If you love following the actions of young con artists, then this series is perfect for you.
Brynn Hilder hit the jackpot when she was offered entrance to an exclusive school. One that not only accepted her past as a con artist, but encouraged her to continue with that life. Now, she's learned that when something looks too good to be true – it's because it isn't.
Her life, the life of her family and friends, are all on the line. And will continue to be in danger for as long as Dr. David Odin has power. He may be training a school full of hustlers, but that's only because he's the best of the best when it comes to deception and power plays.
It's going to take everything Brynn has – every single one of her allies – in order to take him down. And even then, the fight will almost certainly cost them.
“Time's ticking. I can feel the rush in my blood, urging us to hurry.”
Guys, Payback is the absolute perfect ending to this trilogy! It leaves no open plot arcs. It's all perfectly wrapped up, with a neat little bow on top. All while throwing some seriously shocking twists out along the way.
It was easy to get invested in Brynn's story, right from that very first book. Ever since then, I've been rooting for her, alongside all of the other readers out there. Well, Payback helped to push her character to new heights.
It also, somehow, managed to raise the stakes even higher. It was impressively done, all while leaving plenty of room for surprise and suspense. It's everything I could have hoped for in this finale, and then some.
Really, my only regret is that we won't get to continue following Brynn's adventures. As we all know that she's going to find a way to get herself in more trouble in her path through life. It's sort of her wheelhouse, at this point.
Brynn has no idea how to move forward after the events of the last book, with all her future plans and expectations ripped out from beneath her. But what she knows for sure is that she has the best group of people at her back, to help her out of the mess she feels responsible for. One thing is for sure, you can never anticipate what a con-artist is really capable of.
Keep in mind that this is the third and final book in a trilogy that HAS to be read in order. Do not start here, you will miss a boatload and be super sad. And that being said, this review will be short so as not to spoil anything from this freaking intense, wonderful, stressful and exciting ride.
I adore found family stories, where a ragtag group of loners and outcasts find others who make them feel loved and wanted, and Payback was the best example of this. Where Brynn is 100% the main character and the only narrator, the side characters play such an important role in the plot as well as Brynn's personal growth. And I am such a fan of these side characters- Caleb the quiet steady love interest, Charlotte the outgoing loyal best friend, Henry who wears his emotions on his sleeve yet is always so upbeat, Sam the reliable genius, Grayson whose motives will alway make me questions his actions and Geri, the surprise to the group who was as prickly as they come and I loved it about her.
Overall this was a fantastic conclusion to a great series, I felt like I was stressed out and put through all the emotional rollercoasters to get here but I would not change a single thing about the ride. This conclusion wrapped up loose ends and gave me the warm and fuzzies I could have ever expected. I recommend the Vale Hall series for anyone who likes morally gray characters, fast paced plots, lots of twists and a nice heap of romance.
Thank you NetGalley & Tor Publishing for sending me an ARC of Payback by Kristen Simmons. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Wow. Wow wow WOW.
I first picked up The Deceivers (the first Vale Hall book) in April. The pandemic was heavily setting in and my mind was running out of the energy to count lint for the 300th time. Vale Hall truly is one of my favourite contemporary series I have ever read.
The Vale Hall series follows Brynn, a poor girl from the rough neighbourhood of Devon Park in her city. She runs cons and odd jobs to stay afloat and alive, finally thinking she has a chance at getting out when she is recruited to attend a secret private school specializing in hustles, schemes and overall mayhem. The school is led by Dr. Odin, a mysterious and powerful man who will stop at nothing for what he cares about. In the third book we start by seeing Brynn at her most defiant, completely determined to restore the justice and happiness that was ruthlessly taken from so many around her.
For the first two books in series I actually think it was quite funny how I thought "well after the first two books, there's nothing Simmons can do to shock and shake it up even more, I'm onto her!! I know what she's up too!" oh boy how wrong I was...
Every time I thought I knew what was going on, I actually had NO IDEA what was going on and what was to come. Each new cliffhanger, development and deceit made me wants to keep reading even more. I cannot even imagine the amount of planning, outlining and webbing went into the twists and turns, that alone deserves a medal, the storyline never failed to shock and intrigue me.
I really loved how completely 3D each of the characters were, all with their own personal motivations and views. especially in the third book where it is so easy to throw away side characters and world building in favour of a romance or a one dimensional plot. It's really simple to focus too much on the main character so that the other characters and side plots fall short, especially in such a plot rich book like this one. Also would love to take a moment for the inspiration from Norse mythology, I thought that was such an amazing incorporation and the symbolism made things so much more fascinating. Overall it's so beautifully easy to see bits of yourself in every plot, character and hatred for final exams, the stakes only felt more elevated and motivating as I could resonate.
Parts of me were looking for a bit more diversity in the series but I did appreciate Simmons exploring Brynn's columbian heritage in this last book, making it a part of who she was and appreciating the culture.
This final book and it's conclusion to me wasn't just about a girl who got into some school and found herself in all kinds of mayhem. It was a reflection about us as people. Our greed, grief, personal angends and mostly, our hatred and letting go of it. "By giving something hate, we give it power". Brynn might have gotten out of Devon Park in the first book, but she never really even gave herself the chance to leave her anger behind until now and her character arc truly is phenomenal. I was genuinely tearing up after finishing the epilogue, the last line being truly one of my favourites just by how much I deeply felt the words. So while I go print out all my favourite quotes from this book and rave about them for eternity, I'm sad to be leaving Vale Hall but it truly was a wonderful wonderful time.
'Payback' is the thrilling finale of a fantastic young adult trilogy that readers are definitely going to want to pick up. I've read several of the author's other books and I'm a big fan, so I went into this novel with pretty high hopes and expectations. I wasn't disappointed in the least. I loved everything about this book - from Brynn, the main character, to the setting, the romance, the overall plot, and the incredible writing. It has everything I look for and want in a good story.
Brynn is an excellent main character. She's realistic and easy to connect with right from the beginning. I enjoyed watching her character change and grow throughout the story (and series). She's not always in the right, but she does try to do the right thing. The author uses the first person point of view - with Brynn as the narrator - for the novel. It's by far my favorite writing style and I'm so happy she chose to go that way with this trilogy. I think it allows the reader to really get to know the main character and connect with them on a more personal level that isn't possible with other styles of writing. The plot is intriguing and had me hooked the minute I started reading. I was immediately pulled back into Brynn's world and it felt like I had never left. I really enjoyed the ending and the way it tied up the series, but I'm definitely sad that it's over. I would've loved for the series to go on longer. I highly recommend this book - and series - to fans of YA, contemporary, thriller, suspense, mystery, and even romance.
Disclosure: I received a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
This was such an AMAZING series!! Payback is the perfect conclusion, the students at Vale Hall are not to be trifled with. There were so many twists and turns and major surprises along the way in this series, but especially in this last book. The romance was so sweet and at times gave me chills. I loved every minute of this ride!!!
Yesssss. Ahhhh. This conclusion delivered on everything I hoped it would and then some. I think this trilogy is highly underrated, and you should absolutely pick it up now so you can be ready for this finale in February.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for an earc to read in exchange for a review!
It’s always sad to see a series end that I enjoyed reading. It’s been a wild journey of manipulation, secrets, and a whole lot of conning to get to this ending but it was definitely worth it! I think this series is quite underrated and if you haven’t heard of it and want a review, you can find them on goodreads.
The main character, Brynn, has been through a lot in these books and she definitely put all of the skills she has learned to good use in this last book for the biggest con ever. There is a lot I admire about her. One of those things being her strive to not give up even when it seems like all hope is lost. She puts her game face on and keeps going no matter the danger she puts herself. Even though she may have not liked everyone she went to school with from the beginning, she still wants what is best for them all. I loved reading about her growth.
There is one major relationship in this series and then others that are minimal but still cute. When it comes to the relationship of Caleb and Brynn (the major one), I always enjoyed the page time they had. It hadn’t always been easy for them but they made it work even if the worst of conditions. I also liked how much Caleb trusted her even when it seemed like she had changed her mind on things. He is pretty great.
When it came to the plot, as with the other two books there are plot twists that I didn’t see coming. One was a real big surprise but I’m really happy about it. I think it added to all of the mystery and took it up one more notch. I don’t feel like the ending was rushed and was satisfying to see the biggest con artist get what he deserved! Plus, there is an epilogue and I liked seeing how everything went a year later.
Overall, it was enjoyable! I’ll be sad to see these characters go but am looking forward to whatever this author writes next.
When I first got offered the chance to read The Deceivers a few years ago and learned that it was about a school for con artists I didn't hesitate! This series is so well done, the characters diverse, and the twists unpredictable.
Brynn doesn't trust anyone after what she's gone through at Vale Hall. She's performed some high stakes cons so far in the series but she has no idea what she's going to have to go through to pull off the biggest one of all. As people who can help her expose the truths of Vale Hall start dying off she starts to fear for not only her own life but her mother's and friends as well.
Payback was an emotional rollercoaster ride of twists and turns. One second you think you know what is going to happen and then all of a sudden the story takes a totally different direction. I enjoyed Brynn's development from the beginning of this series until the end. She becomes fearless in her endeavor to keep all those she cares about safe. As she starts to gather the evidence she needs to expose Dr. O she finds herself visiting some unsavory people from her past and allying herself with others she never thought she'd ever be able to trust. I enjoyed the friendships that were built throughout the series and I feel like it wrapped up nicely.
I will miss the characters of Vale Hall but will make sure to recommend them to anyone looking for a great series to read! This one definitely has adventure, intrigue, and unforgettable friendships.
Seriously good! So many twists I didn't see coming and a very satisfying ending to a trilogy about cons and lies and friendships and love. These books have so much going on and now that book 3 is out in just a few days, I highly recommend reading them all back to back. If you liked Jennifer Lynn Barnes' The Naturals or Fixer series, you should read this. If you like books about crimes, boarding schools, and whodunits with a strong focus on friendships and coming-of-age, you should read this series. My least favorite part was the small bit of a love triangle in the second book because I hate love triangles, but the drama was necessary to the overall plot. This whole series is very well done and everything in this last book has escalated to a higher level of danger and intensity with so many loose ends getting tied up in this finale. I really wasn't sure how it was all going to come together and how many of my favorite characters were going to make it out but I'm very happy with the conclusion. These characters have been through so much and have been given time to grow and develop and make mistakes and overcome them and the whole journey was very worthwhile. This is one of the more underrated series I've read and I really hope more people will pick up these books.
Thank you to the publisher for providing an eARC in exchange for an honest review!
**Note: This is the third book in a series that should be read in order. If you are new to this series, you can check out my reviews of books 1 &2 HERE**
Payback is the third and final book in the Vale Hall trilogy by Kristen Simmons. You definitely need to read these books in order, and now is the perfect time to binge read all of them with the concluding novel releasing this week. I freakin' love this series so much! The Vale Hall series, takes place at a school called Vale Hall which to the outside world appears to be a prestigious boarding school with top notch academics, but on the interior is really a school for aspiring con artists. There are so many secrets cons and intricately woven sub plots throughout the first two books that I can't get into specifics, but I do want to talk about general things that I think this series and author Kristen Simmons does a fantastic job of.
I love all of the characters in the series. They each have their own personalities, their own secrets and their own parts to play in the overall plotlines. (Grayson is still my all time favorite character!) It was fantastic. I also love the atmosphere of suspicion and suspense that Kristen Simmons artfully woven throughout this trilogy. There are times when you genuinely have no idea who you can trust and how the ultimate plto is going to wrap up. We finally get some answers with Payback. I loved the way that Kristen wrapped everything up. I think this is a fantastic series. In Payback we get to see more of the Vale Hall school director, Dr. David Odin himself. I was super intrigued by Odin as a character. I loved digging deeper into his psyche and figuring out his motivations throughout the series. It is all really well done.
Even though I am super pleased with how everything wrapped up, I can't help but want more books set in this world. I love these characters and I love the world, and I want to visit it again. I don't hear this series talked about enough. I think it is a super underrated young adult mystery/thriller series, and I want to scream it from the rooftops that people should check it out! It is perfect for fans of Pretty Little Liars, Ocean's 11 and Truly Devious. The Vale Hall Trilogy is excellent. I have thoroughly enjoyed my binge read of it, and now I want more!
THE TWISTS. THE TURNS. This was one of the best rollercoasters.
Payback is an ultimate ending to the Vale Hall series. It has a stellar conclusion and a gorgeous buildup to the ending. Things that were mentioned in book 1 came back into play in ways you don't expect.
I liked how the romance was turned way down in this one. The second book was more romance-driven and didn't have much plot. That's understandable, I guess, because the sequel was meant to set up the third. And the third didn't disappoint. The epic conclusion delivered plot and growth and everything I love all neatly gift-wrapped. I love plot-driven books.
Character development that I have been asking for since book 1!!! Not only do we have more character interaction and care than just the Brynn-Grayson-Caleb show, but we see more unity and growth between characters and within themselves. Even Geri stops being seen as the real villain because now they know who they really should be after.
So many twists and turns! I saw one coming, but I still got goosebumps all the same. And then there was one that came out of nowhere - unless you are Sherlock Holmes, maybe. But it was written in such a way that it didn't scream "this came out of nowhere". I felt that even though I saw no signs, it felt natural and part of the flow. Either way, I actually gasped and started choking on my water. (It was totally worth it.)
I don't really have much to say. I didn't understand why Brynn continued to be the official/unofficial leader of the group when they had an adult with them. And, again, she only thought about/talked to her mom when she was threatened or felt she was in danger. Maybe that was Brynn's way of trying to escape where she came from, but I always thought she had the strongest relationship with her mom, and I was trying to see where that went.
Because there was less romance, Simmons included a lot of conversations and interactions between other characters. I missed Charlotte and Geri. Henry didn't have as big of a role but he still needs to be protected.
Payback is absolutely gorgeous. It didn't reach 5.0/5.0, but it came very, very, very close.
Oh My God!!!! The BEST, BEST series I've ever read!!! It was AMAZING, AWESOME, GREAT, MIND-BLOWING, EXTREMELY GRIPPING, TOTALLY UNPREDICTABLE, SMART..... how many ever adjectives I add to it, it will still not be close to the Amazing-ness of the awesome book. So, this book was THE best ending to a series I've ever read. Have you all heard about HAPPY ENDINGS? Yes? Okay. Tell me one book whose ending you think is the best and most satisfying. Most books always leave a small, lose end, something that keeps bugging your mind even after the book has ended, right? Well this is not that kind of book. This book is THE BEST definition of a happy ending. It leaves you totally satisfied. The next day, you start to realize how amazingly thought-out this whole series was!!!!!
Well, Brynn and her Con-artist friends are racking their brains for a plan to bring Dr. O down. With that in mind, they all travel around, and uncover secrets that were completely unpredictable. The friendship and the loyalty was heart-warming. I was especially glad when Brynn and Caleb came together again, and the way they did. That exact moment, I was laughing & crying. This book was a series of ups and downs and a total emotional roller-coaster ride. The best part of the whole book were all the Henry-moments. He is one of the best characters of all the books I've ever read. They way Greyson turns out to be, not forgetting Geri and Margot, was simply lovely. Moore was another character who was so unpredictable, in a good way, of course. The best con, the one in the last, was MIND-BLOWING.
Now, not to spoil the story for you, but this kept me glued to the book till the end. I had listened to the Audiobook, and the narration made the book come alive to me. With my heart pounding louder with every twist and turn, I just can't imagine why I hadn't picked up this book earlier. This leaves me in complete awe with how the whole story turned out. I also can't think why people are not falling over themselves into buying this book.
Last but not the least, this book kept me guessing till the end. I am amazed with Kristen Simmons' brain for even thinking of such an awesome story, much less write it. Just think, how complicated and maze-like her brain would be. This whole story, according to me, needs a LOT of imagination and complex thinking, and, Hats-Off to Kristen Simmons, she has aced writing this novel. Thank You, for introducing me to another Beautiful series.
