I loved this book. It's a creative guide for garden design, showing the reader the whole process of how you can transform landscape impressions into detailed garden plans, making small landscape gardens. It helps you understand the different kinds of landscapes, how they're split into different zones and how the zones relates to the type of planting. It shows you how to pick out a colour scheme, plants and traits from a landscape, and how those might be reflected in a sketch that more gradually becomes a detailed plan. You can just adapt their finished garden designs in your own garden, or use the process as a guide to create something unique for your own garden. Filled with really nice photos and artwork this book is accessible and easy to read.

Fantastic book! Especially if you are wanting inspiration for your own garden. It explains things brilliantly, not too complex, but not patronising either. It talks a little about their Chelsea show gardens too. Really interesting.

Naturalistic garden design book, inspired by by particular landscapes such as mountains. Lots of pencil drawings, not a huge amount of photography. A really unusual take on the subject.

I loved the way the authors explain their design process in depth. A great book to help you design a garden and achieve a natural inspired design. I especially loved the fact that this book breaks down different design principles in a clear way and gives multiple different options and interpretations. The authors play with the different options instead of picking just one. It's about the journey, not the result. As an added bonus, you also get some information on how to build some specific garden elements: a deck, a dry stone wall, etc.
Note: This isn't a book for people who love to browse through garden books filled with pictures from actual gardens. If, on the other hand, you're looking for a book to help you look at the process of designing a garden, then this is a great addition to your bookshelves.
