Sexy, curvy, and very determined to get what she wants, Andrea Evans applies to the Alma Venus Agency for mail-order brides. She is sorted into House Dracones, which means she will become the bride of a dragon-shifter. Well, that suits her just fine. The dragons are the wealthiest shifters in the world, having had hundreds of years at their disposal to hoard treasures and stuff them under their ridiculously luxurious palaces. What does love have to do with wealth? Nothing. Andrea is not interested in finding love because she’s only pretending to be a mail-order bride. In reality, she’s a clever con artist who plans to rob the poor dragon-shifter (pun intended) who will make the mistake of falling for her.

After he lost his first wife, Calder Grimmr vowed he would never remarry. But a dragon-shifter’s life can get lonely. The gift of living for thousands of years becomes a curse when you have to watch your bride and the mother of your children age and die. However, things have changed. Now, the antidote for shifter venom has been discovered, and human brides can be turned into hybrids, which gives them the long lifespan of their shifter mates. Encouraged by his clan, Calder decides to give himself a second chance and find a mail-order bride.

When Andrea finds out Calder Grimmr is a member of the Council of the Six Factions, she almost gives up her plan. Yes, he’s the wealthiest, most influential dragon-shifter there is, but can she handle him?

When Calder realizes Andrea might not be who she pretends to be, it’s already too late. His inner beast has recognized her as his mate.

Silver Dragon is a full, standalone novella, with a happily-ever-after, and NO cliffhangers. Intended for readers 18+

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Might be a bit harsh in my review which is not common for me. I've read Cara's work before and always enjoyed it. I've read almost 2000 books and never came across a female main character I hate. Until now! Andrea grew up poor and has this self-centered attitude that the world owes her. She's selfish and a con artist. She wants to marry a dragon shifter to take his money and do whatever she wants with her life. I understand growing up poor and hell even conning a man out of money for whatever reason. Andrea...yup another level. I never ended up liking her and she's not redeemable in my opinion as a character. Its sad that a character bothers you so much the story doesnt matter and that doesnt happen often with me. Development and the story itself sans characters is good. However, Andrea was so unlikable she brought the whole story down and killed it for me. I really loved Calder. He was sweet and so didnt deserve someone like her. It worked out in the end but not good enough for me. Read the story and be your own judge. Mine is just an opinion.

Shifter Brides continue in this new Story surrounding the Six Factions. This time we are focusing on Andrea, a young human who grew up with nothing and a longing for everything, including her own personal freedom to do what she wants, when and how she wants. She doesn't really want to be a "Mail-Order Bride", but she sees it as one way of getting what she wants. And who better to help her with her new life than a Dragon Shifter, they are well known for their bountiful treasures, aren't they?
While "hunting" a prospective target, Andrea finds a Dragon who is interested in her, but wary to tell her much about himself. Until she finds herself falling for her target.
I truly enjoyed the nice pace of this story, you learn a lot about the characters along the way, along with the tumultuous emotions that each character goes through. The wanting, needing, fear of being alone. They both share much of the same fears, but for different reasons. But there are secrets within secrets and the possibility of ripping their relationship apart before it truly even begins. The twists and turns of this story is unlike any of the other stories I have read in these collections. I feel that this author has much to give us by way of her Stories and Series. I recommend this for lovers of Shifter Romance and that ever elusive HEA. Well Done!🌺

Ugh, where do I start. I wanted to give this one star, but to be consistent with my rating system, I'm giving it two because I finished it. The heroine was unlikable. The hero was supposed to be a very important leader and thousands of years old with children, but he was so....gullible. Sometimes they both seemed like immature teenagers.

Normally, when writers go overboard trying to make the heroine innocent or try to fit their actions unnaturally into a storyline, we are faced with the TSTL characters. This is the first time that I can remember that I've ever read a male/hero fit this criteria, however.

**spoiler**

Our heroine physically assaults the grown daughter of the hero. She thinks she might be dead. Doesnt know if she has blinded her or burned her permanently and shrugs it off. I repeat, SHE INJURED HER ENOUGH THAT SHE THINKS SHE MAY HAVE KILLED HER. After she gets caught, she goes to her room and apologizes and all is forgiven. The daughter then reasons that she forgives her because she has lived longer and so is wiser and more understanding. Nope. I'm done.

I obviously do not know how to choose books anymore. This is just another case of thinking "Why am I doing this to myself" over and over again, while reading it.

Two stars - one for Kaden and one for the world itself, because the world it was set in wasn't that bad, although that too had some weird stuff in it.
But overall? Weak. I have read contemporary books with better con artist stories where they stick within the boundaries of reality, so for a fantasy where you can create whatever you want and put in all the crazy stuff you can come up with? This is really, really weak.

Unlikeable, unredeemable main character

I could not get past the h and her motives. Which honestly made no sense when she explained her reasoning to her roommate in the beginning. She hates her parents because they were poor and uneducated, she has sex with guys day one and then wants a relationship, she wants to be independent and go to college and get a job on her own but she has to steal money so she can do it first. I think I understand the motivation the author wanted the character to have but when she voiced her motives it made you hate her because it sounds stupid and illogical. It would have been enough to just say the character was poor growing up. Unfortunately, she remained unlikeable which made her an unredeemable character to me. Everything else about the book is good, every other character is OK. I think the psych testing needs to be increased at Alma Venus.

I didn't even finish the book. I only read a couple of chapters and that was enough. I have read over 2,000 books and not one of them even compares to the hatred I had for the main character. Andrea was cruel, narcissistic and up her self. She went on and on how much she disliked her parents because she grew up poor and mummy and daddy didn't pay enough attention to her. They wanted her to give them money. She seriously dislikes them for that. So what does she do? She wants to con a nice man who wants someone to love and be loved in turn, steal his money throw his feelings back in his face and his clans and children's faces. Jade was right, she is exactly like the so called parents she despises. This was a waste of time and I am truly disappointed in what could have been a wonderful story but I would recommend to my fellow readers to avoid this book like the plague. It is stupid and mean and sends the wrong message to young readers out there.

My main issue with this story is the heroine - she's a gold-digger who thinks the world owes her a living because she's had a terrible life up to this point. Plenty of folks have bad lives but they don't become like Andrea. She doesn't really go through a redemption arc, she just does what she does - then is sorry and the hero forgives her just like that. We're told she's changed but I found her so unlikable I really needed to see her change.

Also I don't get why the hero a guy that is as old has he is falling for her facade. Other than defending her to his grown kids after what she did, I didn't really have any issues with the hero. He was mostly too nice for her.

I sorry but I can't don't like romances where bad folks aren't shown to have changed or don't get their comeuppance. It would been nice to see the gold-digger not end up with the richest, most powerful of them all.

I liked the set up, the hero and everything but the heroine. Hence the 2 stars.

The "heroine" Andrea Evans grew up with nothing and despises shifters for their endless wealth. She plans to seduce Calder, leader of the Grimmr Clan, and take off with some of their treasure to start living a luxurious life of her own. Even though they had a HEA of sorts, Andrea was not redeemable in my eyes. At the end, I still saw her as a manipulative b* who was just filled with guilt about what she had done and didn't know how to handle it. Calder wasn't any better, being too easily forgiving, and grovelling to keep her with him even after everything Andrea had done, including seriously harming a member of the clan. That was disappointing, since he represents the dragon faction in the Council. There is nothing that I really like about this book, except for Kaden, who remains suspicious and angry with Andrea. The sequel, which stars him, is much better. I'd recommend skipping this one.

I hate to put such a low score on a book because authors put everything into the stories they write and publish but this book left a lot to be desired. The whole reason for reading a romance is for the romance, for the story in how a couple falls in love. This story skipped over that part. The beginning had such promise and in the end left me glad I hadn't paid for this book...sorry

RED HOT ROMANCE

A romantic tale that has an intriguing plot, a bit of danger, powerful vivid scene descriptions, betrayal, lies, humor, hot sensuous romance and a sweet happy ending occurs when all the obstacles are put to rest.

Andrea became a mail-order shifter bride for ulterior motives; her plan is to rip off a shifter dragon husband. She believes that shifters think they are above humans, therefore, she has no real use for them except for their wealth. Calder a gorgeous, wealthy and powerful dragon shifter has chosen Andrea as his bride. When the two meet fiery desires flow through them, but Andrea keeps her feelings in check as she does not want to deviate from her original plan.

The story is well-written and the characters spring to life with engaging dialogue; there are also emotional ups and downs. The romance between Andrea and Calder is quite believable and filled with much devotion. Andrea's backstory does give the reader insight into the reasons for her beliefs. If you enjoy shifter romances this a great book for your library. I found this to be an entertaining read so {I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy}. Without reservations, I recommend this book.

Andrea is one of the new batch of mail order brides from the former Alma Venus training school.
She is on the hunt for a shifter husband but is she there for love or what a good match with a wealthy shifter can bring her???

Calder Grimmr has a lot to lose, one of the reasons why he kept his screen name so anonymous when speaking with Andrea. Now that she has agreed to marry him, he reveals more about his position and feels comfortable letting Andrea into his clan. With the antidote for shifter venom now available he no longer has to worry about his mate dying as she will now become a hybrid and share his long life.

But as Andrea gets to know Calder, his children and his clan will she drop the nefarious plan to cut and run or will she see that all she ever wanted is just within her grasp?

I have to say I loved the Alma Venus original stories and this was a good book I just felt I couldn't love Andrea. She was such a cold-hearted gold-digger! I know she came from nothing and wanted to be comfortable but when her plan undfolds I just wanted to hurt her! I thought Calder was waaay to forgiving. It won't put me off reading others in this series but I sure hope there are no more Andreas!

Andrea has never had the life she thought she deserved. A bad home life. A bad job. She was desperate to be free. To live a life in splendor, in riches. Enlisting herself into the Alma Venus school for shifter brides, she had finally found a way to solve her financial woes. After being paired with dragons in her exams she could practically see the treasure hoard awaiting her! Now she just had to snag a dragon. Calder spent many years without a mate. His children were grown. He was lonely. With such a prestigious position he had to be very careful when selecting a future bride. The Alma Venus school seemed like the perfect choice. When Calder and Andrea start to correspond, she sees a solution to her problems while he sees a potential Mate. Will they be able to overcome their issues? Will Andrea sabotage her dream or her potential family? This is a fast-moving and passions tale about the hurdles that people have to overcome in order to accept the life that Fate has laid before them. A truly excellent read!

I so love books by Cara Wylde. I love her world where we
know the shifters exist. It is a completely new take on the
paranormal. So expertly well-written. And a joy to read.

This is Calder and Andrea's story. She has traveled from
America to London to attend Alma Venus the renowned
shifter bride school. Only she is doing this for false
pretenses. She doesn't want to be a shifter brine she just
wants to Rob him blind. Then live on her own. She is
growing up with the wrong impression of shifters. But as she
learns more and spends time with Calder she is even more
confused. She has a plan and hopes to stick to it but as you
know the best laid plans don't always hold true. Let's hope
she wises up in time before she makes a mistake that could
ruin her life forever..

Now before I ruin this for you I will leave off here. I hope you
enjoy this book as much as I did. If you do like this book,
please consider leaving a review. The Authors really like it
when you do; they value your opinions too

Andrea hasn't had very much in her life, nor has her life been particularly easy, so she decides to become a shifter mail order bride. She is enrolled at Alma Venus, and before long she is chatting online with a dragon shifter. Calder Grimmr is not only the alpha of Clan Grimmr, he is the Dragon Councillor on the shifter council. He has been chatting with Andrea and decides she is his perfect mate. He takes her to his palace and he believes she is happy and adjusting well to her new life. However, Andrea has a plan for her life, and it does not include becoming Calder's mate, having his children or becoming a hybrid. Andrea and Calder are complex, fascinating, well written characters, and the plot of this book is exciting with some unexpected twists. Fantastic shifter romance and a must read, I loved this book.

Andrea has lived a miserable 22 years. Her parents were poor, never tried to better themselves, always complained, and tried to change her. She never got any lover or support from them. Then after several failed relationships with boyfriends who just wanted to use her, she is cynical. But has hopes and dreams for a better future. But when the opportunity for unconditiional love and security are at her fingertips, will she embrace them or sabotage her new life? Calder Grimmr and his family are loving and kind, and accept Andrea immediately. Can he heal her past hurts and show her what a wonderful life she could have with him? A great first book in the new series about the Alma Venus mail-order brides

Andrea and Calder's story starts out at Alna Venus Mail-Order-Brides house, but doesn't really get rocking until he takes her home and then the shenanigans start to fly as Andrea sets into motion her plan to rob a dragon blind !! What she doesn't account for is falling in love with her mark or better yet, him being willing to give her whatever she wants and let her walk away scot free !! This is the best Alma Venus book to me as i love a lot of snark along with my sexy dragons and their strong soon to be mates . If you love paranormal romance, a bit of thriller, hot sexy dragones and some bad guys thrown in, this book is for you !! 5⭐'s, which I don't give often or easily !! Can't wait for book 2 !!

Second chances

Hard to like Andrea with her attitude toward shifters which is one of pure dislike and wanting to steal from them. She enters into Alma Venus with only one thought in mind which is marry a rich dragon and then steal his treasure. However the kindness and love shown her by the family start to change her. She is torn between keeping her own plan in motion and living out her life with them. However she still attempts to steal, gets caught, takes poison almost dies. Finds that she really does love the dragon and he really loves her and will not let her die.

This is the first book in the next series of Alma Venus books. Now that there is a cure for shifter venom the school has gone to a mail order bride role instead of a school for brides. The heroine isn't what she appears to be but then her life hasn't been easy. Love isn't what she's looking for but it's what she finds when she doesn't expect it. I was glad to see that it's set a few years after the original series so our beloved headmistress is still in charge. I can't wait to see where this series takes us.

I very easily give this book 5 stars, because it is well deserved. First, this is excellent writing. Cara Wylde did such a good job developing the characters, and then interweaving them into a story that I could not put down. I was shocked when I had finished it, because I was so into it, I was not ready for it to be over, but even good books have to end. The best thing about finishing it, is that it is just the first book in this series, so I have more to look forward to. I voluntarily reviewed this advance copy, and I highly recommend it.

Loved Calder. After so many years without a mate willing to find a bride. Calder's children, Sylvia and Kaden opening their home and their lives to the future mate of Calder. Couldn't find a way to like Andrea and took me a while to get through the first part of the book then the story flowed a little better. This was my opinion and it shouldn't deter you from giving this book a try but I didn't considered this book to be the caliber I am used to reading from this author.

I have enjoyed Cara Wylde's other books immensely and will continue reading her future books

I received a free book and voluntarily chose to review it. Great book. This is a somewhat continuation of the Alma Venus boarding school. This group of books can be read without having read the boarding school series. The author has given you a rundown of what has happened prior to this book so you can better understand the story. I usually tell you about my strong woman in each book I review. This time she is not really strong but reacting to the world around her. This is a romance so you expect minor problems and then happiness, but not this book. Get your tissues ready.

I wish I could give this book a zero. But there were so many problems with this book. Too many grammatical errors. Too many spelling errors. Character Point of view throughout the chapters kept changing from one character to another without warning. It was a mess. Unfortunately this book outlines the fact that a proper edit was not done. I love shifter romances, but I hated the main character. She was a despicable human being. I thought she was selfish and very petty. I just did not buy how the story ended. At the end of the day it was lazy storytelling and lazy writing. Disappointed.

This is a very well written story. The plot is amazing. My only problem is with Andrea, the main character. I didn't like her in the beginning, middle of end of the book. I don't see this character redeeming herself. Calder is such a sweet man that had been through so much and I feel that he deserved far better than Andrea.

I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

Andrea decided that becoming a Mail Order shifter bride was the perfect thing for her. Sorted into House Dracones, she will become a dragon shifters bride which is perfect for her plans. Her shifter suitor has some secrets of his own. He just happens to be on the Council of the Factions. I really don't like Andrea and her plan at all. So very glad that Calder listened to his son. Can't wait for the next book in the series.

Silver Dragon

It's different type of dragon story than I usually read but interesting just the same. A little devious and self-serving but not too far out of some people's normal attitude. The story had a good flow and was well written. Worth reading and spending the time to get to know the characters involved to enjoy future books by this author. I recommend that the book be given a try .

This book could have been great but I think the author fell flat on the female lead. It is common to hate one of the lead characters but usually they turn it around, with Andrea it seemed too little to late, almost like she wasn't really sorry for any thing and there is noway anyone would forgive as easily as Sylvia is. I will read the rest of the series, just hope there is no one else like Andrea.

Silver dragon

It had a little drama; it shows alpha being the alpha some parts of it. I feel like something is missing some parts supposed to be a bit more.the part I didn’t like is there’s no passion. It’s only a small part of it. What happened to the strong alpha. It could have a different Indy more strong what passion something that makes you want to be on the edge of your seat waiting for the happy ever after and go Yes!!!
