Please be Possible Trigger Warning Hi, I’m Alexis Delaney. I’m your average 17-year-old girl. Except I can see the dead. And talk to the dead and help them move on. So..okay, I’m not your average 17-year-old girl. Right now, the Veil is shut off, and the Way is closed. Which means the dead can’t move on, so, they are camping out on my lawn. I’m trying to open the Way, juggle school and, well, deal with my feelings for two of my best friends. If that isn’t enough, notes have been showing up in my locker since I got back from Christmas vacation. Things are getting creepier as time goes on. He’s actually starting to scare me, to be honest. But with the guys, I’ll be fine. They’ve got my back. No one is crazy enough to take on Zeke. Right?
B.L.Brunnemer has been a devoted reader since she was young. As a child, she was instantly attracted to horror stories. The plot, the suspense, the action. She loved it all. Which, as she grew, branched out into several other genres. But a strong female character always caught her eye. Through the years romance became a big part of her reading. Then she found the Young Adult/New Adult genre. But she had a problem. She never found the romance between most characters to be realistic enough for her. At least in the paranormal romance section.
So, she decided to fix that. She'd been writing for years already and had always struggled to finish a manuscript. Until, she decided to write what she wanted to read.
B.L. Brunnemer doesn't have any other publications at this time. She's just a woman, who loves a good story with great characters. And she hopes you'll love them too.
With everything going on right now, it's difficult to get excited about anything, much less a book. But this one...when I saw it was available I was out of my mind. It came out so quick! I think I'm going to love (see: obsess over) this author.
This series has everything that I love. It has reverse harem. It has a kickass female who stands up for herself. It has ghosts and the supernatural. It has drama and love and fighting and music.
Ok, so let's get into it. I'm so excited to talk about this.
Alexis (Lexie) is dealing with her breakup with Dylan, the ghosts that plague her all the time, the drama with other girls, high school, and her boys that she is slowly realizing that she wants to be more than friends with. That's a lot. Now she is also getting love letters in her locker and texts from a Secret Admirer.
Lexie is working through all of her issues with a lot of dedication and patience. She is learning MMA so that she can hold her own and get strong. She is doing well in school and she has finally had a breakthrough with the Veil where she has to ferry the dead to the afterlife. Teenage Grim Reaper.
But then this Secret Admirer gets more aggressive. And Dylan keeps trying to reinsert himself in her life after he broke her heart. Her Uncle Rory has to work nights for a few weeks so Lexie is left to fend for herself. The guys try to do what they can to protect her from her deranged stalker but they, too, are just kids and there is only so much that they can do to help.
I don't want to give away too much.
This book is great because it shows everybody has weaknesses. Lexie is learning to fight but she isn't great. The boys are trying to protect her but they can't. Her uncle and the police department are trying to find her stalker but they can't. This book is about how people cannot be perfect and not everything is easily solved.
While this book has a huge fantasy element to it, there is also something incredibly realistic about this series. It's sort of heartbreaking.
And the stalking thing is disturbing in its realism. It hit hard for me. I was violently and aggressively stalked in high school and the guy never got in trouble for it. He would follow me home from school, call me all the time, follow me to soccer practice, threaten me, leave notes in my locker...we think he slashed my tires since they went flat and were found to have pencils broken off in them. He keyed my car and threw a desk at me. Even in high school, this is a reality for some people. The school didn't want to listen to me, like they did for Lexie. I was told that the guy liked me so I should take it as a compliment. I was told to just go out with him so he would leave me alone. I was called a drama queen and a bitch for denying him and turning to my guy friends (who eventually fell in love with me but that's a whole different problem) for protection. This shit is real and scary and this book captured how helpless you can feel in this situation.
I definitely related heavily to this book.
Gosh, this was supposed to be a lighthearted review but I guess it went in a different direction.
It takes on a lot of sensitive issues. It addresses how useless you can feel or how people will make it seem like problems are your fault.
But you know what?
Lexie is going to overcome all of this and that's why I love this series. She takes on her problems. She solves things herself and takes responsibility. Lexie is strong and powerful but still human. She fucks up. She has a dirty mouth. But she is still someone that is worth admiring and looking up to. It's a sign that you can have the world of shit thrown at you and still come out on the other side.
I love the message in this book. It isn't about love conquering all. It's about hard work, perseverance, and trusting your instincts. It's about being an empowered woman and having people respect you for that.
The guys are constantly saying how Lexie can defend herself and will let her do so but will also not hesitate to step in the second she needs them.
This is a good relationship. This is how things are supposed to work.
This book shows how mutually respectful and loving relationships are supposed to be and contrasts them with dysfunctional poisonous relationships. You choose your family and you should never feel guilty about getting rid of toxic people.
This just keep getting better <3 Miles is my absolute favorite. Zeke and Asher are battling it out for second, and the twins so far haven't moved past third place.
It's official, I love these books. And this one was my favorite so far.
- I don't see the point of ghosts anymore. - Lexie is a mess but still fucking awesome. - The dynamics between Lexie, Miles, Zeke, Asher, Ethan and Isaac is simply awesome and definitely one of the best in the rh world. - Damn, Zeke has GAME. - I want more more more more more. - I want more of Lexie and the guys. - But I can't help feeling anxious about the romantic stuff. - I mean, there friendship is goals. - So sad the book was shorter than the second, i still need my fix. - The overprotective part of the guys is oh so loveable and endearing and kind of sexy. - The end is heartbreaking. - - - I love The Veil Diaries period.
3.75... I'm finding each book gets better, but I still find how slow this series is ultimately fraustrating and wish more was developed of the veil and her abilities. It's the characters that suck you in though and I have to keep reading for them, but it's somewhat reluctantly.
This book was so much better than the first two. I was hoping it would which is why I stuck with it.
Lots happened. Lexie has a stalker who is escalating. I guessed who it was from the first time they met...still made an interesting storyline. So much more about the actual Veil which made me happy.
The guys are still adorable, and yes there's some feelings being caught in this book. Finally!
And Riley seems like a great friend. I hope she stays that way. I also love Jake! Hopefully they stick around. Tara is jealous and I would love to see her and Lexie get closer, but then again I think that will eventually happen. Oh, and what is going on with Dylan? I figured he would get pushed out as the guys and Lexie grow closer, but why did he have to be such a jerk about it?
Ok, the start of this series wasn’t my favorite but it’s slowly getting better. There were a few romantic interactions in this one, nothing too extreme beyond a kiss. The writing isn’t too strong but less clothing descriptions and less laughing all. the. time. Progress.
Definitely more emotional at the end than i expected. And definitely feels like the Veil and the paranormal aspect of this is not even secondary, it’s like fifth. We don’t get much on it.
Hoping for more relationship progress in the fourth book. I don’t like Lexie much but I’m hoping she’ll calm down some in the next book. The guys are what have me really hooked. Love Zeke the most right now.
Slightly annoying throughout though, when every single guy she came into contact with was hitting on her. I know it was to build suspense for the stalker, but damn. And i really hate how she never wants to seem girly and has to always mention she’s such a pain in the ass and a bitch to seem tough. PLS.
So this barely qualifies as a paranormal, the crossing ghosts storyline seems to mostly be in the background and a stalker situation is the main focus of this book. The editing was much better, still, needs some work but I heard the author is working with a new editor for book 4. I'm still finding the story mostly entertaining and the characters interesting so I'll probably read the next book when it comes out.
I never know where the story is headed when reading a work of B.L. Brunnemer, all I actually know is that she never leads the reader in the wrong direction. And the same held true throughout this novel. Once again I was wowed by just how vivid Brunnemer created her story, characters, and everything in between. I fell in love with this series during the first novel, How to Live With the Dead, and have only fallen more deeply with every novel after. In this novel there is definitely more development between the characters and their relationships. The bonds grew tighter as I fell more in love with all of Lexie's best guys. How could any normal person choose between Miles and Zeke and Ash and Ethan and Isaac and even some other guys outside the main group. I mean, we all kind of want a friend like Jake right? But I mean, these characters were crafted so well that even with all of their differences, I still want her to end with every single one of them. I love their relationships and bonds, and how each action they take is for the best of the group and each other. I can't help get caught up in this series because these characters are so amazing and I love how the author created their stories to compliment each other and create a character that best suites Lexie and her past. You really can't go wrong with this series because every moment was crafted to surprise the reader and lead the story in a direction that's unexpected and yet better than I could have ever imagined. I am completely obsessed with this series and I have no idea what I'm going to do while waiting for the next novel to be released. This series has seriously affected how I see and read other novels and trying to find one that matches the mastery of this one and hits all of those key points will definitely be a challenge! So here's hoping that the next book magically releases within the next 24 hours!! <3 <3
The reverse Harem seems to be a popular genre these days, I don’t mind since I enjoy reading them. However, due to its popularity and lack of originality, it would seem 9 out of 10 series I am probably reading basically the same story. What could’ve differentiated this series from many others are perhaps the supernatural twist, unfortunately, the series did not build much on the paranormal aspect of the book, instead I am reading what I’ve been reading from just about every other RH series has, relationships dramas, and creepy stalker.
My main struggle of this series was, there isn’t a clear theme or strong plot. I’ve categorized this series as Reverse Harem with a tiny touch of paranormal. I said tiny touch because it’s lack of world building. So far we only know Lexi is a necromancer, which is an inherited curse that has been passed down to all of the female line, consequently no one has able to survive passing their prime. And this is pretty much all of the learned about the paranormal background of the series. Very little to none was explored and developed in that aspect, thus not much to go on from here. As I was reading I found myself simply focusing on the relationship drama of the book, as it significantly overshadow the paranormal part of the story. However, since I do enjoy the Reverse Harem theme, I find myself enjoying reading the relationship building, which this series has a decent pace, compare to many other RH genre books I’ve read.
The main plot of this book is about Lexi’s stalker, thought I would argue it should’ve been two stalkers that Lexi and her men would be dealing with. I thought the plot was somewhat weak and predictable, as in you know something bad was going to happen. I also felt the dialogues were full of profanity that was not well developed. I know we shouldn’t judge anyone based on their speech, but it was really hard not to in this book. I also didn’t enjoy that every guy, random and minor characters that I absolutely cannot keep up with was in love with Lexi, View Spoiler », by the midpoint of the book I can’t tell you who was who.
I also wondered, when has stored your phone in your bras become a thing? In just about all the RH books I’ve read, just about all shared this particular feature, and for the life of me, I cannot understand why. Because I don’t know about you, but my phone would not fit and situated in my bras. This isn’t realistic at all, it just seems very strange.
Overall, I don’t think this series is particularly unique compare to other Reverse Harem books on the market. It has a weak story plot, and lack of world building. However, if you do enjoy relationships dramas, you might still enjoy this book. If I continue reading this series, it wouldn’t be for the story plot nor the supernatural aspect, it would be the romance relationship of multiple guys and one girl.
Like the previous novels there's definite editing issues with this novel, besides the misuse of your and you're and they're, their and there, there are scenes in this one where it almost reads like she's confusing the twins she created, descriptors that end up near the wrong name, or a text conversation with one leading to the other responding in person. Twins or not, none of the characters should blend enough for there to be any confusion about who Alexis is interacting with.
Next how is this character 17 and not aware of how to block numbers from calling her on her cell phone or aware that laptop cameras can be hacked and most laptops come standard with them? I mean these are kind of basic things. Plus any parent worth half a salt would pay the $10 or $20 to get their child a new cell number the second they learned they were receiving strange messages or had an ex that wouldn't stop calling and texting. There's more than one guy completely out of line in this book and it takes them forever to react to any of it. Plus at no point does anyone get her a different phone number when clearly the wrong people have it.
And the way things escalate with Dylan in this story, why does it take so long to do anything when it's clear harassment from near the beginning of the story? Also the vice principal? Again if Rory is supposed to do be decent parental figure how was he not down at the school the second he learned she was suspended?! He should have been on the phone with the school board demanding that woman's job because she crossed a line that administrators are not allowed to cross. To say I would kick up a fuss if one of my children was treated like that is an understatement, I'd be in the superintendent's office before my child left school grounds and at the next school board meeting and if the results weren't satisfactory I'd be returning with a lawyer, and probably a reporter. I would not stop making it very loud and very public until that woman was unemployed. I don't think most parents really differ in that. I mean Rory is supposedly this wonder dad figure, so exactly when is he going to step up and handle things like a parent would?
There's again a minor movement forward in the Necromancer part of the plot to the point that it's become clear that the paranormal elements of this series are definitely secondary, hell possibly beyond secondary. There's a small amount of focus and then it's back to everyday stuff like cute boys and stalkers. The series is starting to read like a contemporary masquerading as a paranormal series because there's very little attention paid to those elements of the story. Brunnemer isn't yet finding a balance between her interweaving plot lines and the overall story is suffering for it. That said I'm still curious about what will happen next.
Recovering from her break up with Dylan, Lexie attracts the attention of a Secret Admirer. He seems too shy to reveal himself and things quickly get awkward, besides Lexie needs to focus on her link to the Veil and she makes some progress there. Yay! She also admits to herself that she has crushes on a couple of her guy friends. Little things between them start to intensify just as
I am really enjoying this series. I have so many thoughts! First, Yay, she kissed one of them! Talk about slow burn RH, they may never get together. Just kidding - I saw that book 7 comes with a warning that it would have adult content from then on, so at some point, the pace picks up. I'm not even mad that it is taking a while, just anxiously excited about it.
I have mixed thoughts about the progression of the non-romantic plot. At first glance, I didn't think we were getting far enough fixing the problem with the veil, but I guess she DID At the same time, I liked that the author took the focus off the dead for a second and had Lexie facing an unrelated, live threat. I thought that was smart. I am also wondering her character will change at all considering what happened at the end. I like her all confident and sassy, but I do think she could be smarter about how she handles people. We'll see, I suppose.
4⭐️ I swear as I continue this series I get more and more OBSESSED. With the plot, with the characters, with the burn of the romance, with everything. I also love how in each book outside of the main plot, we have subplots as well.. like the suspense in this book was KILLING ME, because every new interaction had me suspicious LMAO. But my heart really hurt for Lexie at the end of this one because she has been a strong and badass FMC from the beginning so for all of that to happen like it did???? Ugh. Now the burn of this romance 👀👀 I’m living for the slow, friends to lovers, why choose building, burn!! I swear something about the way this reads, reminds me of watching a tv show. Like i can 100% see it. Plus the realism of the characters? I’m eating this up. I fear it’s going to become a comfort series for me!!
When To Fear The Living is third novel in The Veil Diaries series by B. L. Brunnemer.
I am not minimizing everything that she went through. It all coalesces into a horribly traumatizing experience. But I do feel that she continually disregarded worrying events, writing them off. Even in cases where the happened repeatedly. Enough to the point that I could identify the stalker and where this story was headed way before the halfway point.
There were definitely some candidates. The main four being: Dylan, Morgan, Clay, and Jordan. They all kept pushing boundaries or popping up a significant amount to shine some suspicion in their directions.
Then there’s the building feelings between at least a few of the guys and Lexie. At this point it seems that Lexie has romantic feelings for Asher, Zeke, and Miles. All individually, so this slow-slow-slow burn hasn’t stepped into reverse harem territory yet. And it’s seems they all at least reciprocate some attraction for her as well.
I’m surprised by Riley. It was one of the few things I’ve been worrying about. If she would stick around after her and Zeke ended things. I’m glad we will see more of her as of yet.
This edition did degrade the series for me a bit. Pertaining to Lexie’s attitude towards suspicious happenings, the continued lack of true insight into the Veil, the subject behind disrupting it still unfound, Imposter Lexie’s evasiveness, the witch’s suspicious behavior, and the lack of any true relationship moments between our MCs.

Lexie is getting frustrated with her ex-boyfriend, and this stalker guy who can't show is face, or leave her alone. As things start to get a little crazy the guys start to step in to help her. And while she is dealing with this, she still has to try to fix the Veil, get help from a witch she doesn't trust anymore, and some more crazy stuff as well. But Lexie doesn't give up and she will do what ever it takes to make things right.
This book was awesome! I loved it. I really loved how Lexie was dealing with everything, and I loved how she was with her guys as usual. I only hope that she doesn't start dating one and exclude the others. I hope she ends up with all of them around the same time.
I was also proud of how she handled the stalker issue as well. She was so brave, and I can't wait to read the next book. It's going to be utterly amazing. And I totally adored getting to read a few of the guy's point of views, and I really can't wait till all of their feelings start to come out!
Let's be honest, I love the crap out of this series. The only reason it's not a 5 is because my standards for 5s are ridiculous.
Lexie is continuing to learn about her powers (thanks!) and finding out some things that are unsettling to her (not sure how I feel about it yet. I think I'll hold off judgement till the next book), and growing in her relationships.
I appreciate the care this series takes with mental illness - it feels a little heavy handed at times, but it's an appropriate use of triggers (not making fun of people, but helping them deal with trauma. BTW, trigger warning for abuse, stalking, generally creepy things). I'm a little worried about Lexie at this point, which is definitely a plus for the book. I'm invested in the characters and the progression feels natural.
In other news, sometimes Lexie is just TOO. FLIPPING. OBLIVIOUS. I mean you're not an idiot girl, please get it together.
I've followed this series from the first books release date, I can honestly say I've been on the edge of my seat with anticipation for this release. I am not disappointed, I'm not sure how B.L.Brunnemer does it but she's excelled yet again. From the flow of writing to the heart rending emotion I felt every single high and low. Lexie my heart breaks for you. Miles, you total sweetie. Asher, so very nearly there. Cookie Monster, don't ever change. Ethan, I'm so glad you opened up. Zeke, Oh my days!! Riley knew all along. I'm on tenterhooks for book 4 I neeeed to know Lexie and Zeke can sort the trigger. B.L.Brunnemer, I read all genres and devour literature at a rapid rate, you my lady have broke my heart and for that I thank you!
Reread 3/20****** Amazing. I don’t want to sleep. Or go to work. Or talk to my husband. Or the kids. Everyone, please go the fuck away, I have shit to do: fix theVeil, hangout with my boyfriends and play video games and cook and have tickle fights and go rock climbing and kick some mean girls fucking asses. Then maybe save some souls. You know, priorities.
Lexi The Hot Mess Express is kind of badass. Well, she’s trying really hard to be badass. Some day grasshopper. Some day.
My five boyfriends are 17. And that’s not creepy at all.
This series starts to get better for me in this book. I feel we start making some progress with the Veil and begin to shed a bit of the high school drama (just a bit). This is the book I became more invested in the characters and the world. More veil progress too. I went on to Books 4 and 5.
So this has nothing to do with the book or story but the guy who reads the guys’ perspective at the end is terrible. He was reading Zeke and it was supposed to be super serious but I kept cracking up because he sounds like that guy on Facebook, Bat Dad. 🤦🏻♀️
I’m giving it a 5 because it made me love dylan, riley, Jake, Derrick, Aaron ang lexi’s Boys even if the story is a trigger. Took a lot of understanding not to take it personally. I just wish it would have been cleared on the trigger warning. Anyway, Ezekiel kissing Alexis was hot dayum..!
God, this third book was just epic. I LOVED it. The series has done nothing but build from the beginning. Perhaps slowly for some people's tastes, but I have loved it.
Lexie and her harem remain some of the best RH characters I have encountered. Adore them!
And I love the brief boy's POVs at the end of each book. Nice to stay in Lexie's head throughout the book, but to have that glimpse of the boys is great!
So, what the hell are you still waiting for?
READ. THIS. SERIES!
UPDATE NOTES: (Me being insanely nitpicky on read #3, just to vent the occasional frustration...but trust me, if I weren't really into this series, there wouldn't be nearly the frustration. Nor would I be on read 3 ;) (with possible spoilers, though I tried to be vague when I could, but avoid if you want to know absolutely nothing before reading)
The change of direction in this book away from the supernatural back to the natural evils of men was such an excellent twist. The supernatural and the dead were still present in this book, but it made for a more interesting read to have a human villain to ferret out. One of the problems with a lot of books is that it's too easy to identify the bad guy, but the array of mystery secondary men who could have been the secret admirer (SA) left me guessing all the way until the end of the book and he was revealed. When I go back to reread it (because I know I will while waiting for book 4), the one thing I want to look more closely at are the conversations between SA and Lexie.
Lots of empathy for our main girl in this one: psycho clingy ex + pyscho crazy stalker made for a serious distrust of all things male in this book. And the beating she took at the end was difficult to read. This book covered a difficult topic in the form of the compounding trauma of the SART - I give props to the author for tackling such a sensitive topic that is often too invisible.
Loved all the little additions in terms of nuggets of information about the boys (particularly peeling back the onion that is Zeke, and Ethan opening up a bit). Not a book for Team Asher fans - he was pretty absent in this book. I'm hoping the RH works out in future books. I want all the boys to win the girl, but for now I'm definitely still on Team Miles in case it comes down to one in the end. Wintergreen is the best smell. ;)
I'm really curious if "The boys" chapters at the end indicate increases in their attraction to the Lexie? If so, does this mean Ethan will be more in play for the next book? I seriously hope so! Can't wait for the romance escalation after that one epic kiss!
I feel like such a greedy fan. I'm already excited for the next book. :)

At book 3 I can FINALLY say I'm invested in this series! The first book was a good introduction but there were things that bothered me. Book 2 drove me up the f'in wall b/c...GIRLFRIENDS!!
Now this book...this book was a hit. The one girlfriend left standing after the second book was so minimized that was easy to forget she existed - except for a few scenes. Riley's exit was handled in a mature way. There was no kickback on Lexi for Zeke's feelings. Riley was an adult and is continuing her friendship with Lexi despite her break-up with Zeke.
In this book we saw all of them grow closer together, got Zeke's backstory, had the boys becoming uber protective of their Lexi.....and what we've all be waiting for...a KISS!
Beyond that I'm not going to go any deeper and give anything away except to say that if you are triggered by abuse then you will want to be prepared. The abuse is NOT extreme and only includes a few hits and some groping but it is there.
As for the writing...BL has improved greatly and the addition of a professional editor has helped BL move to a new level of writing. While not there yet I can say with confidence that BL will be one of the top RH authors soon.
Have you ever finished a book in a series totally psyched to head straight into the next book because you could finally see everything you wanted to happen coming to fruition?
After the ending of the last book I was beyond stoked to head into book 3 here. We had gotten a glimpse of the guys POV and it looked like all the engines were rev'd to finally start furthering the relationships between our FMC and the boys. I mean I felt like I was standing on the cusp of all my dreams coming true..... And then this happened. I swear that ending in book 2 "click baited" me into grabbing book 3 and then broke my heart and crushed my dreams... How you going to do me that way B.L?
I'll try to set aside my abject disappointment in order to give this a fair shake review wise.. but its going to be hard. And if you see my broken heart creeping in.. just overlook it an know that I'm suffering here.
As you can most obviously tell I am having some issues getting my thoughts out about my feelings on this book. I was set up for the plot to finally make some major forward progression here in book 3 not only with the veil set up but also with the guys all revealing their feelings (to the reader) in the last book. Unfortunately I felt book 3 was a complete let down on almost all fronts.
In all honesty we did make some progress with the veil here in book 3.. was it the highlight of the story? Did this progress even make the front page? Nope.. it was almost an after thought. As for our relationship with the guys we are still basically friend zoned but with a lot of the FMC constantly berating herself for finding the guys attractive and having feelings for them. Longest book of my life (exaggeration but you get my drift.)
This story veared off into uncharted territory as whats her face has a rando secret admirer which turns into a psychotic stalker. I just don't understand why we keep veering off from the real story.. Who has messed up the veil and why? Why do we need all this other stuff happening? Is it to drag the story out into more books? I mean how much are we going to make this poor girl suffer through? Lexie needs a break people..... ahem.. reigning it back in... I'm tired of all this and I just want to see the plot that this series started with moving the eff along...
This series has one more shot.. one more chance.. but if it keeps dragging me along I'm done... You can obviously tell I'm emotionally invested in this.. lol.
Okay so I just need to start this book by saying I NOW OFFICIALLY HATE DYLAN!!!! Thank you B. L. Brunnemer for making it so easy to hate him in this book. The dude can't take no for an answer and someone needs to beat his ass. Now, moving on, Lexie's relationships with the guys continue to grow in this book. She is developing a couple serious crushes and is kinda freaking out about it, but I cannot wait til they're all together!!! But, this book was really tough on Lexie and her guys. While moving on from their old relationships, Lexie starts getting tons of attention from a secret admirer who, to put it lightly, isn't crazy about the guys. Things escalate to stalking and with so many guys seemingly interested in Lexie, I actually couldn't figure out who it was until the very end. Lexie is such a tough, kick ass character, but her heart is so big that in some cases she can be way too forgiving. She put up with too much for too long, trying to protect the guys and keep them happy, and by the end of the book, she needs their support because she can't be as strong as she has been. Her experiences in this book are traumatizing and tough to read, but I know she's gonna pull through in the end. Lexie won't give up that easily!
I can't get enough of Lexie and her sexy men! I want my own set of them. Miles is super smart and adorable. Ethan is that moody singer who melts you with just a few words. Asher is a super cook with a big heart. Isaac is fun and goofy and a great companion. Then there's Zeke. He's a tortured soul with lots of baggage but a giant teddy bear with Lexie. She's so lucky. And we actually get to see the beginning of her RH form. There wasn't as much on the ghost front in the second half of the book, but the romance was better. Add in two stalkers, one secret and one not so secret, and you have all the makings of a juicy story. I'm already dying for the next book. Serious withdrawals. I also love that the author adds a few chapters at the end from a few of the guys povs. It really makes you feel what the dynamic truly is between them and Lexie and not just what she perceives. So I would give this book and the series 10 giant glittery stars if I could, but I'll have to settle at five glittery stars for now.
This has definitely been my least favorite of the series so far. What I loved and cherished from the first and second book, I kinda loathe in this one. I’m just gonna say it; Lexie’s an obnoxious bitch. It was sorta cool at first (and funny) but now it’s just annoying. I feel like she tries too hard to be a tough girl. I loved that about her in the first book but now I roll my eyes anytime she tells someone off.
And what’s up with the whole male population wanting a piece of her? Are five guys not enough? Is this is a requirement in all RH? Because I don’t get it. There were times I would get confused with the other dudes because they all just started sounding the same. Hopefully the next one isn’t so bad because I won’t be able to stomach more of the series if that’s the case.
I’m also very curious how the author handles the very sensitive subject matter in the next book.
On a side note... I know we aren’t supposed to have teams but I’ve been Team Miles from the moment we met him. It’s those quiet ones you’ve got to watch out for ;)
I honestly don't understand how this book gets so many stars.. Terrible terrible writing. I am at the third book now and it reads like a 14 year old wrote it..no kidding. I have never ever read a book like this. every detail..every day from morning til evening is descripted in every small detail. And its the same boring shit as the day before.
Every guy she encounters flirts with her and she has to show them how badass she is by telling them she can kick their ass. When something happens every boy has to ask how she is so you have more than half a page of guys asking her how she is or what happened. This series is a big joke and I really hope all 5 stars came from girls age 12-14 or people who have never read a real good book.
these 3 books could have very easily been one 200 page book..nothing happens..nothing!
This book was purchased right after reading the first sentence of book one sample, immediately after purchasing book two. I didn't need to wait and see. I knew I would be a lifelong fan of this author. Once you start reading, it'll seem like you just can't get enough of Lexie, or Miles 😊, or anyone else that's fully apart of the mc's life. Trust me, get this series
