Jack Mason—graphic designer and unrepentant player—has never been interested in monogamy. He certainly isn’t looking for romance when he meets Professor Colin Sloan.

Newly single and not looking for anything serious, Colin is intrigued by Jack’s offer of a physical affair with no strings attached. Becoming friends wasn’t part of the plan, but as accidents go, this one’s pretty great.

Peter Mason is Jack’s identical twin. In a long-term relationship himself, Peter tells no one that he’s falling for his brother’s newest favorite, even as the secret creates tension with his girlfriend.

When Peter’s relationship falls apart, he seduces Colin, fully expecting Jack to forgive his transgression. But Jack is keeping secrets too—he hasn't told even Colin that he’s fallen in love. Suddenly the twins are feuding, and Colin is caught in the middle, blindsided by the revelation that he doesn’t want to choose between them.

Now all three must find a way to share, or they’ll tear each other apart.

Covet had a rather interesting dynamic. It wasn't the typical menage romance I run across. In fact, I'm hard-pressed to actually think of it as a menage, even though there are sex scenes where all three men are participating, and in the end, there are three people in the relationship, even if two of them are not sexual with each other. So I suppose menage still fits. It is polyamorous, though, most definitely.

I feel like I should talk a bit about what this book isn't. It isn't a twincest book. They definitely skirt the line once (double penetration scene), but Jack and Peter don't feel a sexual attraction to one another, at all, and they don't touch each other, more than incidentally, during sex with Colin. Also, there is no cheating. Peter and his girlfriend break up before he and Colin have sex and Colin and Jack were never in an exclusive relationship. So, for those that like polyamorous stories, but were hesitating because of concerns of cheating or twincest, I think Covet might work for you.

I enjoyed Covet quite a lot. I do feel like the story was not just about how Jack, Colin, and Peter form a relationship, but also it was about Jack and Peter and how their relationship as brothers gets seriously tested when they fall for the same guy. It almost broke them.

And when Peter and Colin had sex, I appreciated that they didn't try to keep it from Jack. It happened and, even though Jack and Colin were not in any kind of exclusive relationship it needed to be disclosed. It might have been different if Colin had hooked up with pretty much anyone else, but Jack's twin brother? Yeah. And it broke Jack and Peter for far too long, because Jack -- who always insisted that he never wanted a relationship with anyone -- kept how he felt about Colin to himself. And the strain extended to Peter and Colin, too, who were friends before "the incident". And time passes and Peter and Jack are both miserable but eventually they figure their shit out -- in a rather satisfying way.

I liked the way the three men embarked on a relationship. I appreciated that it wasn't just about the sex and that both Jack and Peter were friends with each other and also with Colin, on an individual basis as well as all together. There were plenty of scenes between the men that were not sexual at all. And, I liked that it was fairly late in the book before the three of them actually tried to mesh. It took a lot of time for that to happen - both page time and story time. And jealousy, which was certainly a factor for Jack, until he faced his feelings for Colin and the fact that he didn't want to lose his brother, faded away once they all started facing things and just being. Not that they don't need to learn effective communication. Relationships between two people are hard enough. Add in a third, and you have to learn how to talk about what you feel and what you think.

I'd say the ending was an HFN for all three of them. "I love you's" have been exchanged, but none of them would be comfortable with their relationship being out in the open. It would be too risky for them socially, with their families, and career-wise. It's also early days and I'm sure they have all kinds of logistics stuff to work out. Maybe they will find a way to be open at some point in the future, but even if they don't, I think they could still make things work long term.

The epilogue was different than I prefer, as well, though I did end up liking the feel of it. It consisted of Colin having lunch with his ex, Kyle. There's closure, there, and Colin seems settled with both of his men, but I generally prefer that epilogues focus more on the MC's.

It's been ages since I've read a gay ménage so I was looking forward to reading Covet. We didn't hit if off at first, I found there was a bit too much telling for around the first 12-15% of the book, it was also somewhat adjective-laden and I was going to DNF it. However, I hung in there and the book gained a groove, I got used to the way this ménage is told and a wall came down between me and the story. Momentum was gained.

Everyone gets a perspective in this book, but Peter and Colin seemed to have more of a voice for various reasons I won't go into here. There is a little bit of drama, not much, it is not twincest, there is good deal of well written sex without it being overkill.

Bottom line, I ended up getting sucked into the story and enjoying the book. Covet is an easy reading, sexy gay ménage.

No rating. I don't want to turn people off this book so early into it's life. Maybe I'm a one off and everybody else will love Covet. I personally didn't like it at all.

I think I prefer this kind of brothers-menage storyline to happen in one-shot form. Or maybe a short story, perhaps as part of an anthology or something?

Basically, 268 pages was too much. For a book that was supposed to give me 3 MCs to feast upon, I was so bored. None of these guys were particularly interesting.

This was a crap review, but honestly, I'm annoyed I spent several hours of my day waiting for this book to get better and it didn't.

A Joyfully Jay review.

Covet is a really unique story with an interesting spin on menage and twincest for this genre. Generally it seems menage stories fall in two camps when there are male and female MCs. Either all three of the characters are together in a threesome relationship as an MMF story, or the woman is in the middle and the guys each interact with her and not each other (MFM). But when dealing with all men, virtually every menage I have read has all three men falling in love and in a three-way partnership. However, this story takes a different angle as this isn’t your traditional twincest type book. Peter and Jack are intimate with Colin together, but they are not intimate with one another at all. They are both very clear that they don’t have feelings for each other, but they enjoy sharing Colin. So I found this one very engaging as we watch these men navigate a very non-traditional relationship in a way that is unique for the genre.

The book has a very episodic feel to it with each of the men as POV characters at various times. The story starts out focused on Colin and Jack, then moves to more time with Colin and Peter, and eventually all three. There isn’t really a strong plot here and the story is much more focused on the relationships. So we go in and out of scenes between and among the men, dropping in on them as their relationships grow and develop. The effect works nicely in many ways as there are a lot of different dynamics and so we can follow along, jumping in and out of the various threads. I think Kleinn does a nice job showing how this very unusual situation develops among the three of them, and how the misunderstandings and lack of communication leave these guys in kind of a mess that they must then work through.

Great read!
Jack a flirt and a one night guy. No strings please...
Colin recovering from a break with his partner for five years....
Peter identical twins with Jack, businessman in a somewhat loose relationship.

Jack is determined to conquer Colin for a night....He even decides to take some time for it. When Colin takes the first step he is very pleased. They have a hot and steamy night. Colin is clear about what he wants....no strings at all! Jack can't believe his ears...this is just what he is looking for!! They are both free for other relations...
That's exactly what Jack does...two, three others besides Colin.

When Peter get to know Colin is starts out as a friendship. They even watching games with the three of them.
But....things are slowly changing, feelings are changing..... one of them still wants no strings, one of them have dreams about the other, and one doesn't want to lose the other.
When Colin starts to have a hot sexual relationship with Peter too, Jack is not amused....and the always strong bond between the brothers is gone....

Colin doesn't want to choose....he has a better idea...

Solid written story. I love some good ménage and this was good. What i would have loved even more is to know how this story would go further and how they cooperate when they decided to give it a real try...that fact didn't showed. I trust it will be alright. But to read it on paper....would be better.
Their sexual interactions was well written, hot, sweet, demanding. Sometimes it felt a little awkward....Colin between the brothers, Colin not deciding....but even better when he was the one to come with a solution.
I enjoyed this one very much. The pace, the developing, the way it's written...all pluses.

Hmm, I'm going to go with 3.5 stars for this one. Interesting premise and I really had no idea which way it was going to go or how it was going to end. Good solid story but a couple niggles for me. First I never got a good feel for Colin, a supposedly attractive and intelligent professor, I never got the smart vibe from his dialog, and in the beginning when Peter tells his twin Rick that the professor is too good for him, I didn't get that feeling during any part of the book either. I could also never quite picture Colin, with the shaggy curls or whatever. What's so special about Colin??

Secondly, I got more of a feeling of a potential relationship from Peter and Colin than I ever did from Rick and Colin, and felt the chemistry was better between P&C though I'm not sure if that was my imagination about where the author might be taking the story or how it was written. The ending was satisfactory and unusual and I'm glad the author didn't do the 'cest angle I was afraid might happen because the two brothers didn't seem to feel it. Overall interesting story, I will check out more by this author and a GORGEOUS cover!

NOTE: Don't give up on this book before you pass at least the 20% mark ... I'll just leave it at that LOL

So okay, I kinda walked away from this book a few times but eventually returned. I'm glad I read the story thru, but it really didn't turn out to be the kinda of story I thought it would be. Now that's totally on me. NOT the writing. That's me, interpreting something into the story-line that I wished would have been part of the struggle, but was not written that way ... and I'll just leave THAT at that LOL

There's not much I can tell you about the actual journey between Colin and Peter and Jack without giving away plot, except you should probably know that within the romance story-line there's also a journey of two brothers. And if I'm honest, that's the real story here. Because the romance part between the three of them was just .... it just didn't do it for me.

This is quickly becoming the most challenging review...EVAH!!!

Truthfully this is the third time I've tried to start this review and in my brain it's probably the twentieth. My goal here isn't to tell you what the stories about but to share with you why I was so gobsmacked by this one and truthfully to get you the reader to at least take a peek at it or maybe even decide to read the story.

'Covet' at first glance appears to be a menage book that involves twincest...nope, sorry wrong. Truthfully I don't even think I would call it a 'menage' story in the true sense of the word and as for the twincest...not here. By definition 'twincest' is an incestuous sexual relationship between twins or siblings who look very similar and that doesn't happen here. Peter and Jack are twins but there is 'no' sexual attraction between Jack and Peter. What there is...is a bit of a problem since both men are attracted to Colin.

Colin is a professor at the local university where Jack also works. While Peter is a lawyer. Peter and Jack have a close relationship and while Jack's attraction to Colin is there from the start, initially Peter's only interest is curiosity about the man who seems to be garnering more interest than his brother has given to anyone in the past and from there they become friends for Peter and Coliin the sexual interest is more of a slow burn.

For Colin and Jack their progression to an intimate relationship while quicker still takes ore time since Colin has just gotten out of a 5 year relationship and he's not looking for anything new, but Jack's determined and he knows how to play the game. So with a little patience, determination and willingness to take things slower than he'd like Jack moves his relationship from friends to friends with benefits.

The relationship between Jack and Peter is definitely put to the test when Jack learns that Peter's interest in Colin has gone beyond the platonic. The relationship between these three men is...well...not to sound cliche but...yeah, it's complicated and then some. It's also handled incredibly well by the author. This is my second book by Yolande Kleinn and while I enjoyed 'Running Hot' I'd be remiss if I didn't also say that 'Yolande Kleinn has impressed the hell out of me with the story that she's created this time around'.

Aannnddd having said all that I did have one disappointment with this story which was the ending specifically the epilogue. Unfortunately that's about all I'm going to say about that because otherwise I'll be sharing more in terms of details than I want to share...now, now don't get into a panic it's not that there wasn't any happy at the end you can breath comfortable about that the happy is there and admittedly it may well be that if I'm not the only one, I'm one of a very few readers who are bothered by the epilogue, but I was so that's the reason there's not 5 stars here.

That this is one of the most challenging reviews I've ever had to write doesn't surprise me since this book contains some of the most challenging relationships I've encountered in a book in a very, very long time and yes, I do mean relationships because 'Covet' isn't just about the relationship between Jack, Peter and Colin...no it goes well beyond that. The author has given us time with Jack and Colin, Peter and Jack, Peter and Colin and we even got some time with Peter and Maureen...before things ended between them. I only mention this because while things didn't work out between Peter and Maureen, I really like the character of Maureen.

So, I'm just going to have a little babble about Maureen here. Maureen was initially Peter's girlfriend and what I really loved about this character was that she was a successful, confident professional (lawyer), she wasn't clingy or needy and when things ended with Peter she didn't turn into a raging bitch!!! Seriously I loved Maureen...please can we have more women like her in books. It was awesome to see a woman portrayed in such a positive light. Maureen didn't have a lot of page time but that's ok because what she had was appropriate to her role in the story. Maureen is one of a very few female characters that I've encountered in a book in a long time that I truly enjoyed and thus ends my little babbling tribute to the character of Maureen.

'Covet' is a very relationship driven story and truthfully none of those relationships are easy or simple but in many ways they are very solid and real. Just like in real life relationships aren't always what they seem to be sometimes they are more or less than what the world sees but always they are unique to the people in them.

Covet tells the story of twin brothers, Jack and Peter, who find themselves in an open relationship with the same man. Colin, their love interest, loves both the brothers and suddenly the three men find themselves in unchartered territory, unable to step away from the relationship and unable to clearly define what they are each doing and what they really desire.

This story is told well and without being seedy or overblown and it is realistic in the way it explores the dynamics of the relationship between the three men. It was interesting to read but I didn't really feel that the story gripped me.

Jack meets Colin at a work event and he is immediately attracted to Colin. Jack doesn't want anything serious with him, just another person that he can sleep with from time to time with no strings attached. Surprisingly enough Colin is interested in this kind of arrangement because he is getting over a devastating break up with his former partner Kyle. So all goes well. Both men get together now and again to go out together and to have sex. They are each free to see other men and it is an arrangement with all the benefits and with no baggage, or so they think.

Things begin to change when Colin starts seeing Peter who is Jack's twin brother. Colin never meant to start a relationship with Peter. They were initially just good friends. When the friendship becomes sexual Colin knows it might cause difficulty with Jack but since they have the freedom to see other people he doesn't think it has broken their arrangement. Jack is surprised by the depth of anger he feels when his brother starts seeing Colin. Peter has always been very sceptical of Jack's fly by night relationships, preferring to have a steady relationship with his girlfriend Maureen, but in Jack's eyes Peter has broken up with Maureen and is muscling in on Colin. Jack knows that he shouldn't care for Colin in this way, after all they have a friends with benefits arrangement but he does. Somehow he has succeeded in getting in deeper with Colin.

Colin is getting over Kyle his long term partner. He likes Jack and likes the freedom he has with Jack because he isn't at a place where he wants commitment. He is surprised and shocked to realise that Peter also has feelings for him and that the feeling is mutual. He is caught between the two brothers but he isn't backing away.

As the relationship between Colin and the two brothers deepens, things become more complex. The brothers find themselves deeply entangled with Colin, sharing him with each other and utterly unable to let go. As things develop between them the men realise that none of them wants to let go but none of them know how to take this kind of relationship forward.

It is an interesting story to read. I wasn't really invested in the characters but I did want to see how all three men would take their relationship forward. This is the first time I am reading anything by this author and I thought the writing was good. On the whole it is a good story but not one that will be memorable for me.

Riptide is really knocking it out of the park with great romances this year, especially for M/M. I've only been super excited for two M/M(/M) romances in the past few months and they both were published by Riptide (the other was Permanent Ink). This was a great erotic romance that left me super satisfied on both a sexy level and a storytelling level.

Twin brothers Jack and Peter have always been close, but their relationship styles are totally different. Jack hates emotional attachments and loves casual sex while Peter is a serial monogamist. When Jack starts up a no-strings relationship with shy professor Colin, things get tricky when Peter starts falling for him, too. It's a basic plot structure with a basic conflict, but the three characters all have such strong stances on what makes a successful relationship that the best part of the story is figuring out how they can make it work among three people who obviously care about each other.

I haven't read a ton of menage/poly romances, but the ones I have enjoyed still left me a little cold when it came to the actual relationship dynamics. Either the sexual dynamics were awkward, the emotions weren't acknowledged, or there was jealousy that was never addressed. This book read exactly the way I would've written the romance myself, which isn't supposed to sound self-centered--writers are always told to write the stories we'd like to read, and I think it works the other way, too.

I loved the way Colin, Jack, and Peter's relationship progressed and the stages it took, even if there were painful or weird moments in between. Their sexual dynamic was scorching. The relationship between the twins was satisfying and felt natural and realistic. I liked how Peter's relationship with Maureen was addressed. I loved the ending. I read this book very quickly--not only because it was a good story but because the story progressed so smoothly that I never had a moment to pause.

There were a few rocky points when it came to POV and detail. The book started heavily with an alternating Colin/Jack POV, but when Peter's own POV was introduced, Colin's was greatly reduced, leaving me wondering for large chunks of the story what Colin was thinking or going through. I wish it was a little more balanced throughout the narrative, which would've made the story just a bit longer. I'm also left wanting for a lot of the details we get in romances. I wanted to know more about Jack and Peter's childhood. I wanted to know more about Colin's personal life, interests, and preferences. Again, if the book were just a hair longer, I'd be completely satisfied.

(Also, in case you're worried--).

A review by The Blogger Girls.

This was a bit different from the usual menage stories I’ve read. Here, we have twin brothers, Peter and Jack who end up with the third, Colin. But it is the dynamics of their relationship that are somewhat unique.

Jack is happy with not settling down. He isn’t looking for a relationship and is enjoying being able to play the field sexually without any commitments. Colin is just out of a long-term relationship and is definitely not looking for another one. So, when Jack friends/seduces him and proposes a friends with benefits option, it seems like a match made in heaven. And it is, for quite a while.

Jack’s twin brother, Peter, who has been in a long-term relationship with a woman. He becomes friends with Colin through Jack, and about the time he starts having thoughts and feelings for Colin other than friendship, it takes a toll on his current relationship. When that ends, he turns to Colin.

Keeping in mind that Colin and Jack have an open “relationship” and that Jack has forever been adamant he wants nothing more, Colin and Peter see no issues with it, though they both know they must tell Jack. Unfortunately, Jack has been hiding the fact that he does have more feelings for Colin than he let on. There is some strife between the brothers, but they each continue to see Colin until one day it all collides, and the brothers end up sharing Colin together.

If you are looking for a juicy twincest story, I think you’ll be somewhat disappointed. This, however, is what I thought was unique about this threesome. Jack and Peter are both in love with Colin, and Colin is in love with each of them. But Jack and Peter only have brotherly love for each other. They are all in the relationship, but it doesn’t feel as equally sided as other menage relationships most are probably used to reading about.

I really enjoyed watching this play out and the give and take each took to not scare the other off. It takes a while though before all three are together, and once they all come to an agreement on things, the story pretty much ends. I really would have liked to have seen more detail at the end about how they were all managing, especially with the issues of who was with who in public, where their families were concerned, etc. But, all in all, this was a really enjoyable read.

Covet started out surprisingly sweet and uncomplicated, but things definitely got pretty messy before we get to the happy ending. One thing I will say about this book is that it definitely kept me guessing until the end and even when the characters pissed me off, I just had to keep going to see how (and if) things would work out for everyone.

I honestly can't say too much without giving the story away. There were parts that I found really frustrating, namely the way Peter and Collin's relationship escalated, and the breakdown in communication between various parties. But overall Covet turned out to be a good read.

This may be spoilerish (after all, trying to figure out the final relationship dynamic is what kept me reading on) but this was my first time reading an M/M/M romance in which not all parties were boinking (so more like a V than a triangle?). If you're a fan of MFM romances, this book will be familiar territory.

I don't really know how to put into words how I feel about this book. I liked it, but I didn't love it. I wanted more, but I am not sure what "more" I wanted. I just didn't feel satisfied. Colin had his cake and ate it too, he had two hot twins coming after him and he really liked them both, actually ending up loving both. The sex was hot, with Colin and both men and all three when they were together. I just felt like something was missing. They never really all three sat down and talked things out. They did it two on two, but never the three of them and to me that just seemed off. And what was with that epilogue? That just seemed odd too. Ugh, I liked the book but didn't love it is about all I can say.

I really liked the concept of this, but it was frustratingly slow paced… which would be fine if so much of it wasn’t happening off page. This book isn’t short, there was plenty of time to had more on page time actually showing these guys getting to know each other… because I also feel like I don’t know them particularly well. I’ve read far shorter books from Yolande Kleinn, but for this being 4-5x longer, it didn’t flesh out characters any better.

I did like the ending though. Maybe some might say it’s more HFN than HEA, but I think it was a pretty believable way to leave things. I do wish that that ending happened in the story itself and not the epilogue.

Jack and Peter Mason are identical twins that share all their secrets…most of the time. Jack is unabashedly out and gay, always looking for his next trick. Peter’s bisexual and engaged to Maureen, his bestie from college. They are both lawyers and work insane hours. Jack develops an interest in the newly-single Colin Sloan, a young professor at the university where they both work, and Peter counsels Jack not to make him a one-and-done…perhaps. Thing is, Colin’s not up for an involved relationship, not after five years with Kyle weer suddenly water under a bridge someplace. Jack’s offer of no-strings open sexytimes, well, it sounded refreshing. And satisfying.

As Jack and Colin continue, however, it becomes clear to Jack that–despite his usual intentions–he’s no longer seeking out other bedmates. And well, he really likes Colin. Jack keeps his feelings secret from Colin, and Jack. Also, now that he’s made it clear there are no strings it’s hard to tie Colin down. Not that Colin’s on the hunt, but, well, it’s a funny thing that he and Peter become good friends. And, it’s a disturbing thing that Peter’s beginning to have sex dreams that star…Colin. These dreams become problematic, when it disturbs Peter’s relationship with Maureen. He feels guilty for having these desires for his brother’s hook-up pal, and can’t confess it to her. Peter’s shame causes him to not speak to Jack, either, and he doesn’t know just how serious Jack has become over Colin. Meantime, Peter’s making more efforts to build his friendship with Colin, and this fuels his lust-filled dreams and fantasies. H

As the months pass, Maureen’s dejected this leads to a reckoning that upsets Peter completely. It’s the catalyst that causes Peter to reach out for Colin, and not in a friendly way. The sexytimes are…brutal, and cathartic. The ripple effect is catastrophic. Jack won’t have any part of Peter poaching his man, no matter how apologetic Peter is. This detente leaves Colin’s caught in the middle of their cold war, and that makes him recognize, well, that he’s not opposed to being in the middle between these sexy twins if they’re feeling amorous.

The book is H.O.T. with sexytimes that go on. And on. I enjoyed the interplay between Jack and Peter, and how Colin wound both of them around his fingers without even trying. Colin’s has some deep trauma with Kyle walking away–and he loves feeling desired. It’s nearly an addiction for him. That Jack and Peter both want him? It fills that self-esteem void he’s living through. As far as the romance, this one doesn’t follow the formula. There’s so many secrets, and heartbreak, but they seem to work it out. Colin loves to be shared, and jack and Peter’s mix of tender and touch loving seem to fit all of them in a “just right” way. Once the boundaries are secured, they each make the steps that bring all of them closer. The end is a satisfying connection that allow Peter and Jack to have their man, and maintain their brotherly relationship. No taboo parts, and no twincest. Just a bit of Colin being shared and enjoying the heck out of it.

I'm not sure that I completely bought the idea of twins Jack and Peter, sharing Colin. I didn't think this could actually work in the long run. Especially since Jack met Colin and had a relationship developing with him first. Jack meets Colin and they start loosely dating. Colin is just out of a long term relationship and Jack is looking for anything but a boyfriend but the two agree to casual terms. Hanging out with Jack, Colin finds himself friends with Jack's twin, Peter. These two strike up an easy friendship themselves. Jack finds himself quite possessive of Colin when they're out & other men are trying to hit on Colin so Jack has deeper feelings than he's letting on. Peter is in a straight relationship but has tended towards Bi on occasion. He finds himself very attracted to his twin's "friends with benefits" Colin. Not realizing his brother actually has more than easy feelings for Colin, Peter ends up following through on his attraction to Colin after things with his girlfriend fall apart. The twins end up not speaking to each other for months at a time over this betrayal. In my opinion, I didn't think this could be overcome in a real world situation. But, this isn't real world and the author puts the 3 men back together in a relationship that seems to work. I have to admit, the threesome certainly had the heat to keep me reading. Peter being quite dominant and bossy, Jack being at his command as well as Colin loving the two taking control. This chemistry turned my head shaking, non-buying this story self into a head nodding, yes, yes, keep reading kind of book.
I did find the book a bit slow moving with mundane filler clogging up the actual story. Could have actually flowed better with half the pages. Not even sure Peter's girlfriend Maureen was a needed character at all? 3 stars for decent steamy scenes.

My Review:
I'm trying to figure out how to write this review. The book description is really good, but what it doesn't tell you that I think is important is that the issue in this book is really between the two brothers.

Colin and Jack have a very open relationship. Colin just came out of a five year relationship and has no desire to have anything more. Neither does Jack...at first. But things change for Jack, but if he tells Colin that, Colin will dump him. So he goes along letting Colin think that for Jack it's just sex.

Peter and Colin are friends because of their mutual tie to Jack. They get close...to the point where Peter and his girlfriend break up. This is where things get tricky because as close as Jack and Peter are, they aren't telling one another what is going on in their love lives. Peter has no idea Jack is serious. Jack has no idea Peter is having problems with his girlfriend.

Never is this a betrayal about cheating...and that's an important thing to note because that's a big trigger for some people. This is about the two brothers and what happens when they aren't upfront between the two of them. Theirs is the relationship suffering in this book.

Also, it's the fact that they're brothers that lends both the conflict and how things actually work in this story. No one knows what to do, how to make this work. It's really a fascinating story.

Note: the writing for the first ten to fifteen percent of the book is a little ragged. There is a lot of passive voice to what's happening that makes it difficult to engage with the book. Keep reading. Eventually the author settles into the story and it turns out to be a really good read.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.

REVIEWED FOR LOVE BYTES

Well, well, well.

Three men in one relationship that’s split into two parts – kind of.

Covet is something a bit different and a bit complicated and I very much enjoyed it.

Jack isn’t interested in settling down, in fact he isn’t even interested in seeing the same man twice so nobody is more surprised when he meets Colin and one date turns into many. Colin is recently single and isn’t interested in a relationship for very different reasons but a no strings friendship with a side of sex is perfect for both of them and that is where they find themselves…..for months.

So bear in mind that Jack and Colin are friends with benefits in an easy going and very open relationship when Jacks twin brother Peter finds himself newly single and lip locked with Colin.

Even though you knew what was coming the tense build up was great, as was the first time all three men were in the same place when something sexual happens. I should point out that nothing sexual happens between the brothers. There are some very real problems to overcome though before this odd relationship can move forward and all three men can be happy.

I really enjoyed this one and if you are looking for something a bit different I would highly recommend giving Covet a go.

NOTE: I haven't tagged it as menage as it kind of isn't. Also not tagged as twincest as it very definitely isn't.

Title: Covet
Author: Yolande Kleinn
Series: Standalone
Publisher: Riptide Publishing
Reviewer: Mollien
Release Date: June 16, 2017
Genre(s): Male/Male/Male Romance
Page Count: 240 pages
Heat Level: 4 flames out of 5
Rating: 4 stars out of 5
Blurb:

Review:
This is a standalone novel that involves some man on man on man action. Jack and Peter are identical twins. Jack is a graphic designer. He has never been interested in having a committed relationship. He is a one and done kind of guy. So when he proposes a no-strings relationship with Professor Colin Sloan it is a start to a strange situation. Colin has just ended a long committed relationship. He doesn’t want to start anything serious anytime soon. Jack is treading on new territory when he suggests that they do a friend with benefits kind of thing. Peter is Jack’s twin brother. He is a lawyer and has been in a committed relationship with his girlfriend for a long time. When he meets Colin they form a fast friendship spending more and more time together. Causing a strain and ultimate end to the relationship between Peter and his longtime girlfriend. When the friendship between Peter and Colin becomes intimate, things become very confusing for all concerned especially because Jack has been hiding what he really wants from Colin and now he may just lose the brother that is his other half and the man that completes him. Watch your reading devices with this book. The chemistry between these characters is scorching. The pacing starts off fun and playful but quickly becomes a trainwreck of emotions that will have you turning the pages to see how it all turns out. I loved the ending because love really does conquer all. The character development was pretty strong, but I would have liked more of a background story to these very complex and sexy men.

PLOT: 4 Stars
CHEMISTRY: 5 Stars
PACING: 4 Stars
ENDING: 4 Stars
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT: 4 Stars

First, I need to RANT!!!
Holy Cheetos! What a fuc&%@# mess!!! What a bunch of assholes!!!
To me, the whole story felt like cheating and betrayal… even if technically, it wasn´t.
Until 80% of the book I just hated everybody. Seriously. Everybody.
Especially Peter and Colin. I hated them with a passion. I wanted to DNF A LOT of times.
My impression of Peter: one patronizing, backstabbing SOB.
My impression of Colin: one selfish, greedy, conveniently dense slut.
My impression of Jack: one charming, manipulative jerk, turned into a doormat.
Rich. Just rich.
I just felt so sorry for Jack all the time. Even though he was never lied to, I felt like the situation was never fair to him. At times, it seemed like he was a problem to be dealt with, not an equal part in the most confusing relationship ever. I felt like Peter and Colin just became the “real couple” all of a sudden and Colin just didn’t know how to get rid of the first brother. And let’s face it, since the very beginning Colin seemed to look for excuses to get away from Jack.
But that is just my experience with the book. With a lot of rage involved.
To me it was just so sad to see a confident guy like Jack just accepting all the shit thrown at him in order to not disagree with Colin’s terms.
I wish there was a lot of groveling. I wish there was more caring about separating two brothers. It was all just so selfish.
Maybe I felt like this because this is not a book about three guys who fell in love and became three equal partners in a relationship. It is a book about a guy who has two fuck buddies, who happened to be twin brothers. There is no twincest, only jealousy and miscommunication galore.
I really don’t know if I like this book or not. I hated everything, but at the same time, it involved me and made me feel a lot. And that is no easy task.
And maybe, that was the author’s intention all along.
Hence, 3 stars.

Wow HOT.. " complicated is a major understatement" is definitely true.  The book is a little slow at the start but it gets way better (don't give up in it). This story is hot, the chemistry between the three of them is off the charts. Jack and Peter might be twins but they don't cross the boundaries with each other. Beautifully written and a first read for this author.
Jack and Peter are identical twins while attending a Uni ball event Jack is eyeing of a English professor he'd like to know better. Peter is in a relationship with his girlfriend.
Colin is the guy Jack's been eyeing for the last 2 weeks. Colin is guarded now especially after his breakup 3 months ago from a 5 year commitment with Riley.
Neither Jack and Colin did relationships but there hot chemistry is unmistakable of the charts. Friends with benefits is what the agree on. But that's when things get Complicated.

This is a MMM romance. It is unique in that it involves identical twins falling for the same man. This is my first book by Yolande Kleinn that I have read, and I must admit I am impressed, it will not be my last. The story is extremely well written, and the pace kept me so interested I had a hard time putting it down. The characters felt like old friends. Wonderful story!

Meh. I wanted to like this one, and maybe I would have if I had cared about any one of the three MC's. Colin & Jack had their moments but I actively disliked Peter. He just seemed like a dick. Honestly thought, I just didn't give a damn about any of them. Plus, the "ick factor" bothered me more than I thought it would.

This one wasn't for me.

3.5 stars

I can't really too much about this book without giving away more than I want to...so lets just say it was unique. The downside to the story for me was it took a while for me to get into the story...three attempts actually. I nearly gave up but Im honestly glad I finished it.

I really, really enjoyed this. It was not a configuration I ever read. I mean, I haven't even seen all that many V-shaped threesomes, and then one with brothers...
This could have easily been sordid, but it stays firmly away from twincest and actually manages a pretty realistic and believable sounding plot.
It is rather long and slow burn for it. We start at the very beginning, from the point Jack is starting to pursue something with Colin up until the relationship with all three is cemented. But I think it really needs that length, or it would end up sounding contrived and forced.
The relationships, all of them, needed time to develop and evolve. There's quite a bit of conflict in the book, necessarily, really. It would sound disingenuous otherwise. There's also a lot of sex. All of the characters prefer fucking over talking, so a lot of intimacy is tangled up with sex acts.

But yeah, for me, this really worked. I would actually have liked the book to be a bit longer still, so we could have a glimpse at their relationship after they actually talked about it all, but I'm pretty happy with it as is.

Covet is a hot mess. Or, actually, I guess it's the characters who are a hot mess. The actual story could have been interesting, is interesting, sort of. Sorry for the vagueness. It's just that the premise is intriguing, but the execution is lacking a little and the characters didn't do much for me. Here's the setup. When Jack Mason and his identical twin brother, Pete, are at a the donors' banquet at the university where he works and Jack sees Professor Colin Sloan, Pete instantly is attune to the fact that Jack is salivating over him. Jack is mostly a giant manwhore who sleeps with a guy once or twice then is done. He doesn't do relationships, he doesn't do exclusivity, but something about Colin is calling to him. Jack is mostly an easy going, casual guy in a fairly low key, kind of dull way. Pete is different. He's much more serious, much more intense than his younger by 7 minutes twin. He does do relationships and exclusivity. He's been in a relationship with his current girlfriend, Maureen, for years. So while the two brothers may look alike, they conduct themselves much differently. And it's these differences that it seems our other hero, Colin, is drawn to.

When Jack and Colin fall into a casual, non-exclusive (Jack is still sleeping with at least 2 other men while he's sleeping with Colin) friends with benefits arrangement, it felt off for me from the very beginning. I could just see the shit hitting the fan, quickly. Neither Colin nor Jack professes to want a relationship or commitment, but they are attracted to each other, so they just kind of end up in this thing. And then there's Pete, his relationship with Mo (Maureen) has been off for awhile. When Pete starts having sex dreams about Colin, it derails even further, especially when he won't tell Mo who the dreams are about, that they're about a guy, or what they're about at all. All she knows is that he's having dreams and he won't talk about them and looks and sounds guilty about them. When she, smartly, ends things with him, I was cheering her on because, honestly, Pete was being a big fat douche to her, and as his longtime girlfriend, she deserved better than the crap he was giving her.

It was after the breakup that the whole thing fell apart for me. Before that, things were dragging A LOT A LOT! and i was tempted to DNF more than once. But once the breakup happened, and Pete and Colin happened, I just shook my head in a kind of disgust. Because here were three people involved in this big mess of a relationship and none of the three were communicating with each other. Jack wasn't communicating to Colin how he really felt about him, that he did in fact, want exclusivity, had stopped sleeping with other people early on in their arrangement, and was in love with him. Colin wasn't communicating with Jack that he had strong feelings for Jack, too, liked their time together. And Pete and Jack weren't communicating with each other at all. Pete didn't tell Jack his relationship with Mo ended. Jack didn't tell Pete he was in love with Colin. And Pete very definitely didn't tell Jack he was attracted to Jack's whatever Colin was. When the big fallout happened between Jack and Pete, I wasn't even surprised, but I was kind of relieved and sort of intrigued because at least finally something interesting happened FINALLY!

Then came the avoidance. Pete avoided Colin for months. Jack avoided Pete for months. And Colin just sat in between them like a big, boring lump of curly hair. Oh yeah, the curly hair. For some reason, both Jack and Pete were obsessed with Colin's curly hair. I don't know why, it's not like curly hair is that interesting. But whatever, I digress. Back to the men at hand. The boring men and their big mess of a relationship. I honestly couldn't bring myself to care about any of the three men. Jack was kind of an idiot with poor communication skills. Colin was boring and did nothing to deserve the heated attention of two hot men. And Pete was a douche to not only Mo, but to Jack and to Colin, too. Good God, these men. Idiots.

When the inevitable conclusion came, I was sighing in relief that it was over. Whew. No more miscommunication. No more brothers hating their twin. No more boring men with curly hair who didn't deserve two men to lust after him. No more douches. No more of this messy story. The saving grace of Covet? It was pretty darn hot. Ménages can be really hot, and Covet is hot, certainly. I can't say it's the normal ménage, but it is a ménage at the end when they get their shit together and figure out how they're going to make their relationship work. Before that, though, it's more of an open triangle of sorts. It's not a balanced ménage like I prefer, where the emotional is perfectly apportioned to the physical and all three are happy with each other and secure in their feelings for each other. But, it is a ménage in the end. A really weird ménage, but a ménage nonetheless. And a hot one. Let's not forget the steamy because it's honestly all Covet has going for it.
