Ψυχολογία Συριανού συζύγου
Η "ψυχολογία συριανού συζύγου" (1894) είναι ένα από τα διηγήματα της τελευταίας φάσης του ροιδικού έργου και αποτελεί ταυτόχρονα ένα δείγμα του ανατρεπτικά ειρωνικού ύφους του με δόσεις σάτιρας για τα λογοτεχνικά δεδομένα της Ελλάδας και όχι μόνο.
Ένας ορκισμένος εργένης ερωτεύεται παράφορα μια νέα και για να μπορέσει να απαλλαγεί από την "κατάστασην ερωτευμένου" κάνει το προφανές... την παντρεύεται. Όσο περνάει ο καιρός διαπιστώνει ότι ο έρωτας αντί να κοπάσει έχει φουντώσει... Και τότε αρχίζει το προσωπικό του παραλήρημα και οι εφιαλτικές νύχτες του, αποτελούμενες από υποψήφιους εραστές, εκνευριστικές χοροεσπερίδες και προκλητική κοκέτικη συμπεριφορά της γυναίκας του.
Ο ήρωας θα βρει την λύση και θα μπορέσει να καταλαγιάσει τον πυρετό του βρίσκοντας το λυτρωτικό "κινίνον"...

29 books42 followersEmmanuel Rhoides (Greek: Εμμανουήλ Ροΐδης) was a Greek writer and journalist. He is considered one of the most illustrious and reviving spirits of the Greek letters of his time.
Born in Hermoupolis, the capital of the island of Syros, to a family of rich aristocrats from Chios — who had fled the island after the massacre of its population by the Ottomans in 1822 — he spent much of his youth abroad. Rhoides was erudite and at a young age had mastered not only the languages of continental Europe, but also, ancient Greek and Latin. His early youth years he spent in Genoa, Italy in the times of the revolutions, which were a far reaching repercussion of the French revolution.
He studied history, literature and philosophy in Berlin, and later in Iasio, Romania where his merchant father had transferred the centre of his business activities. Obeying to the parental wish, he moved to Athens, where he printed the translation of Chateaubriand's Itinéraires.
In 1860, after a brief sojourn in Egypt, he decided to live and stay permanently in Athens. Later in his life, he would become very poor, especially with the bankruptcy of the family business, and the subsequent suicide of his beloved brother Nicholas. He eked out his last years by working as a curator for the national library of Greece. But, even from this position he was dismissed in 1902, when he got into a political dispute with the government. Rhoides suffered all through his life from a serious hearing problem, which eventually rendered him almost totally deafness.
In 1866 Rhoides published his notorious novel The Papess Joanne, an exploration of the legend of Pope Joan, a supposed female pope who reigned some time in the Middle Ages. Though a romantic novel, Rhoides asserted it contained conclusive evidence that Pope Joan truly existed and that the Catholic Church had been attempting to cover up the fact for centuries. The book was controversial, and led to his ex-communication from the Greek Orthodox Church.
Rhoides often adopted a clear-cut critical stance against the romanticism in literature and poetry and often was poignant and sarcastic to the romance writers and poets of his time. Rhoides, amongst his numerous translations, became the first to translate the works of Edgar Allan Poe into Greek.

Όποιος δεν παθαίνει πονόματο όταν διαβάζει από οθόνη, το βιβλίο υπάρχει εδώ.
Όσοι συναντήσουν τη λέξη "ορνέκια" και δεν έχουν ιδέα τι σημαίνει, η ερμηνεία υπάρχει εδώ.
Και όσοι/όσες έχουν γίνει αγροτεμάχια Κερατέας, να ακολουθήσουν τον δρόμο που χάραξε ο Ευάγγελος Χαλδούπης με τις εικόνες 🤣
Αυτά.
Βιβλίο που μου έσπρωξε συνωμοτικά η μητέρα μου, λες και έσπρωχνε κλεμμένα γυαλιά σε ανυποψίαστους στην Ερμού. Αντί για θες ρέι μπαν; Μου είπε θες Ροΐδη;
-Η πάπισσα είναι; Το έχω.
-Όχι, ένα άλλο είναι.
-Φέρ'το.
Το ανοίγω και διαβάζω αυτό:
Εντρέπομαι να το ομολογήσω. Επέρασαν οκτώ μήνες αφ’ ότου υπανδρεύθην και είμαι ακόμη ερωτευμένος με την γυναίκα μου, ενώ ο κυριώτερος λόγος δια τον οποίον την επήρα ήτο, ότι δεν μου ήρεσκε διόλου η κατάστασις ερωτευμένου.
Ερωτεύτηκα.

Πρώτο ανάγνωσμα για το 2019. Ξεκινώντας με Ροϊδη η αναγνωστική χρονιά, ελπίζω ότι θα πάει καλά! Λιγότερο καυστικός και περισσότερο συμβουλευτικός θα έλεγα, στο μικρό αυτό διήγημα, γράφει στην ουσία μυστικά για έναν επιτυχημένο γάμο και κυρίως πώς να τιθασεύει ένας σύζυγος τη ζήλια του. Έξυπνο κείμενο για άλλη μια φορά από τον Ροϊδη. Καλή αναγνωστική χρονιά !!

"Τίποτε έκτακτον δεν ωνειρευόμην, αλλά μόνο να επανέλθουν τα πράγματα εις την τακτικήν αυτών κατάστασιν, εις την οποίαν ευρίσκοντο πριν ερωτευθώ. Την μακαρίαν εκείνην κατάστασιν την ενθυμούμην με τον φλογερόν πόθον, με τον οποίο ενθυμείται ο άρρωστος τον καιρό όπου ήτο υγιής. "
Μία σύντομη σάτιρα περί γάμου και διαπροσωπικών σχέσεων. Διαβάζοντας τη μπορεί εύκολα κανείς να διακρίνει πως η "καλή" κοινωνία της τότε εποχής δεν διαφέρει και πολύ από την σημερινή.
Εναλλακτικός τίτλος θα μπορούσε κάλλιστα να είναι: Περί ορέξεως κολοκυθόπιτα
