This is the end. All my dreams lie broken like so many memories…
Just when Ash thought her life was perfect, things have begun to fall apart. If Wyn wants to become King, he will have to give up on a life with Ash.
A new threat comes from across the ocean, the Onvyr Elves have never held to the honour code. After years of wanting to rule Alora, will they finally gain a foothold and destroy the hard won peace Ash and Wyn have fought so hard for? Wyn will have to face the ultimate challenge if he wants to become King. Will he have the strength he needs to fight for the throne again?
Things have never looked darker in Alora. This is the end, the final battle begins now.
Although, it just feels like a continuation of the dream....there are some v.serious and dangerous situations that they find themselves in, but it's almost like you know it's all going to be ok. And maybe that is what the author intended. Lara Ann you are a pretty darn good story teller....keep going!
The Alora Chronicles are not my enjoyed writing style at all. As I’ve said before, they seem to be written for a young (10-12) demographic with the odd five syllable word thrown in for peculiar flair.
The pace and development, at best, is slow. The concept is pretty inspired but the execution lets it down sadly. Whole sections are meant to feel dramatic/upsetting/swoonworthy but because of little to no buildup, they unfortunately just fall flat which is a real shame as some scenes have potential. Whole battles are ‘meh’.
This third and final book is the strongest in the series though.
You know what? The whole story concept has great potential. It’s original and fresh enough to be pretty good, great even with some refining. But then again, what do I know? This is one persons humble opinion.
Thing is, this whole series is a one star rating. No sugar coating that. Why then do I keep giving them 2 stars? The redeeming quality is the raw baseline story (yes, poorly executed and all) It somehow keeps me turning the pages and finding slivers of enjoyment. Which in turn makes me frustrated thinking all it could be.
Wyn is a great character. Strong, solid, noble. Everything you want in a future king. Ash on the other hand... oh boy. She is one confused little bunny. One minute she’s mature and level headed to the point of unbelievable - really, really unbelievable. At the one part I had to stop and scream, ‘seriously lady? You aren’t getting upset about your love sitting and having an intimate firelight moment in the woods with another chick at his birthday celebrations? Even a little??’ Well, kudos to her. She’s a calmer woman than I. But then the next minute she’s a shy, trembling little girl who you just want to shake and scream in her face ‘get it together!’ Are these two seriously the same person??
Over all, I read the series. It took MUCH longer than I usually read things but I made it through without throwing my phone across the room. It’s readable with so much potential.
Although this series has its faults, including some poor punctuation and proof reading in volume 1, the characters kept me engaged and there were multiple plot twists. The romance veteeen Ash and Wynn is rather idyllic but very sweet. More complexity in the characters, such as Ivy, would have rated 5 stars.
