Red Hots: A Valentine Anthology by Caitlyn Lynch and other various authors. Please see blurb below for a complete list of authors included. Published: February 1, 2017 Read: February 2, 2017 Rating: 4 Cover: 4 Anthology featuring 18 authors
If you don't have a significant other to share the most romantic day of the year with, no worries. You can share your day, or at least several hours with the various authors featured in this steamy Valentine anthology.
What I really enjoyed about his anthology was the various genres of romance. Included genres were: erotica, manage, sci-fi (aliens), fantasy and historical. Like with most of the different stories in an anthology, I loved some, I liked some and there were a few that were just okay. That said, my rating average is 4 stars. Also, since there are too many individual romances in this book; too many to write a review on each, I have chosen one in particular that was one of my favorites. One more thing I'd like to add is even if you'll only end up liking some of the stories as opposed to them all, this Valentine anthology is well worth the current Amazon price of .99 and free on KU.
Review for Power Outage by author Caitlyn Lynch.
Rachel and Scott.....
At first I was oblivious to where the premise of this story was headed since our featured couple was already happily married. However it did not take long for me to 'get on board.'
It's Valentines Day and Rachel is all dressed up in a sexy outfit with an amazing meal in the oven. The table is elegantly set for two, the candles have been lit and the crackling of burning logs in the fireplace scream romantic. So what is missing? That would be Scott, Rachel's loving husband.
Scott has been working late a lot lately on a huge deal. Rachel is understanding of Scott's late hours however he promised to be home early tonight. Unfortunately Scott calls and explains that he is running late at work. I admit here, I wasn't sure I liked Scott. Come on...we all know what usually happens when the significant other has to 'work late.' Poor Rachel. And to make matters worse, the power went out.
However...not long after, a handy man shows up at the door.
A gorgeous, sexy, smoking hot handy man!
Yes, you can probably predict where this is going. I won't say more because there is a surprise behind it all that you won't want to miss. However I will promise you a sigh-worthy happy ending.
Happy Valentines Day All!!!
*I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this novel*
I'm not usually keen on erotica as a genre, or short-story romances. Stories like that seem to me to have too much too soon going on. So when I received an ARC of this to review, I figured I would be the skeptic in the audience.
Not so, but far otherwise.
These stories are hot, but not artificially so (more unexpected than not, in some cases). The characters are relatable and the stories engaging. I'll be following several of these authors going forward.
The countdown has begun for the most important day for romance in any woman’s life. Are you ready for it?
If you are or if you’re not what better way can there be other than fantasizing about being in the shoes of the female protagonists in each of these 18 steamy, hot marvelous short stories covering a wide variety of genres. These stories are wonderful being read when you’re finally alone after having getting the kids off to school and your dear other half off to work. Just imagine yourself grabbing a mug of your favorite cup of Joe, and relax with your feet up in that comfortable recliner in the den or living room, listening to some romantic sweet music as you read one of these stories.
Anthologies are a wonderful way to enjoy a new story written by an author you’ve come to love, and new authors you haven’t discovered yet. For having each of the authors helping us get ready for Valentine’s Day with their own unique style of writing how can I not give this collection 5 STARS.
Besides given the price of the KINDLE Edition [when it’s released on February 1, 2017] how can you go wrong. If you can’t wait the paperback edition is available now.
I had requested and have received an ARC mobi.file of this book and the above has been my honest opinion.
This short A Valentine Anthology is packed With 18 stories from various authors. All themed around the special day Set aside for love. I was intrigued because out of all 18 writers I didn’t know any of them. With a full day of reading (love the weekends) I got the chance To read new to me authors each story is different and we touched space, we Read how life can change, back to the sweet south, finding a safe haven and Being trapped with someone less desirable.
I had a hard time rating this set of stories, all were good. Some better than others. Enough detail with this one, identified with the characters with that one. Then men some oh so sweet, while some where as controlling as alpha’s. The women while grew on my, a couple of them I was like what? All in all each story worth reading lots of aw so sweet moments, mixed in with some heat. Enjoy.
These are all thoroughly enjoyable stories, including Valentine's Days gone both right and wrong--though the ones that start off with mishaps don't stay that way for long! I enjoyed the variety of tales, including some historical fiction, a few doses of fantasy and science fiction, and even a drop-in from the god of love himself, for how could Eros not turn up in a Valentine's Day anthology? Although a few scenes left me confused about logistics, most of them had me yearning for a sexy someone to spend the holiday with. Well done!

Red Hot: A Valentine Anthology is filled with eighteen short stories by eighteen talented authors. Love is in the air when these authors put pen to paper, or fingers to keys. Watch their heroines weather-the-storm as their love life takes a turn on the day where cupid is shooting arrows.
All of the authors that took part in the anthology are new to me and I love it! Each one is unique and certainly captivating. I look forward to reading their individual books. As well as continuing the short stories, because lets be honest, we can never get enough!
This collection of red hot shorts is perfect to bring in Valentine's Day. They're short and quick reads, ranging in subgenres and storylines. Some on the sweeter side, some on the naughtier and steamier side. Something for everyone! My favorites were Power Outage, Under Me, Over Me, Inside Me, and Burning Love. The entire collection is well worth getting. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Quick & Dirty Summary: Whether you love or hate Valentine’s Day you can spend some time reading 18 steamy stories by 18 different authors spanning a variety of genres.
Since there are 18 stories, I will write my thoughts after each summary. The stories are not linked in any way other than the theme of Valentine's Day. Of course, the thing to remember about anthologies and short stories is there is only so much an author can do with them. This makes the plot lines rather simple and the characters one-dimensional. Lastly, all of these stories have sex in them, so if that’s not your thing, then you should probably skip this one.
"Unexpected" — Annika Steele As one relationship ends, Maya finds a gorgeous hunk willing to give her a place to stay when she ends up wrecked on a old country road. Is Valentine’s Day about endings or is this a new beginning? This is one of my favorite short stories of the bunch. It is sweet, sexy, and realistic in its pursuit of happily-ever-after. The “gorgeous hunk” is a single dad and is the perfect guy if you like them sweet.
"The Sea Chest" — Margot Wren When a mysterious sea chest washes up to the foot of Caroline’s lighthouse, she writes it off as a fluke. But chests carry secrets, and this chest could give a happily-ever-after to a lonely keeper. This is one of the oddest stories and while I don’t want to spoil it for anyone, it definitely threw me for a loop. I’m not sure it really ended in a “happily-ever-after” as the summary describes, but it is a unique take on romance.
"Power Outage" — Caitlyn Lynch An unexpected power outage on Valentine's Day throws Raquel's plans for a romantic evening with her husband into disarray. The arrival of a sexy electrician sparks an erotic game she won't quickly forget. This story has an element of surprise and is really, really sexy. This is one of my favorites, as it has a really sweet ending.
"Real" — Ariel Bishop Jess is expecting the traditional Valentine’s Day date with her boyfriend; candlelit dinner out on the town. She doesn’t get what she expected, but she does get exactly what she needed. I am lukewarm on this story.
"The Best Worst Valentine's Day Ever" — Christina Rose Andrews Getting dumped on Valentine's Day sucks. Just ask Lexi. Enter Nate, her hunky neighbor, who has just what Lexi needs to make the holiday suck less. I have reservations about this story, not because of the writing, but because Lexi’s roommate is weird. Not answering texts when your roommate is sitting in front of your door locked out is mean.
"Moonlight and Roses" — Vanessa Sweet Melody spends Valentine’s Day alone— by choice. But when a mysterious garden and its tempting guardian offer her more, what will she choose? Melody is a smart, sharp, career driven woman. She’s a different heroine than most of the other women in the novel. I enjoyed the creativity in this short story.
"Just Desserts" — Gwen Marshall After getting in trouble with their girlfriend on Valentine’s Day, Connor and Sully are prepared to make sure she gets her just desserts. This is mostly just a story about having sex.
"Gift With Purchase" — Tally Bane Gail had worn her good panties on a whim. It's not like a certain detective would know they were for him. But one 'Gift with Purchase' might change that and make Gail glad that she'd chosen the lace. This is a cute story where the hero is a guy from Hawaii who relocated a few years ago to the mainland. Of course since I’m from Hawaii too I love that this little tidbit of information is included! It’s a friends turned to lovers theme, with a hint of magic.
"Roses and Tails" — Barbara Be Even on a Space Station, the Humans bring their weird customs on board. Valentine's Day is an alien concept for Jillnell, though she plays along as best as she can. But sex in Zero G poses unique challenges for aliens and humans. This is the only story I couldn’t finish and it’s because the alien thing is too much for me. It is well written so if that aspect doesn’t bother you then you’ll probably enjoy it.
"Sweet On You" — Ava Bari After her heartbreak, all Molly wanted was to spend Valentine’s Day alone in a fancy hotel. A double-booking has her rooming with an attractive businessman, but maybe Jack is just what Molly needs. This is a fun read. Not sure the happily-ever-after is going to be the forever kind, since the story doesn’t hint at it, but the dialogue is pretty great.
"Under Me, Over Me, Inside Me" — Briar McKenna With tension building and pressing against barriers of self-control and doubt, what happens when what we want wins against what we think we shouldn’t have? This has a hint of paranormal, but it’s so slight that it’s not a main part of the plot line. Instead, it’s mostly about an established couple welcoming a third member to their relationship.
"His Promise" — R.A. Stone Melanie has been in love with Chris since college, but they’re not exactly a couple. When she discovers she’s pregnant with his child what is she to do on the most romantic night of the year? This one seems odd to me because Melanie believes they have one kind of relationship while Chris believes they have another. Normally this isn’t unusual, except they’ve been together for years and years.
"A Match Made In Olympus" — Livvy Ward Join Kaitlin and Eros this Valentine’s Day as they ride out a storm and try to mend broken hearts while dealing with a meddling mother. Turns out not even Cupid can escape Aphrodite’s matchmaking! I enjoyed the mythological elements to this story. It’s cute.
"Burning Love" — Annalee Locke Maggie just wanted to spend a quiet Valentine’s Day at home, commiserating over being single with her two favorite firemen. A work related emergency changes those plans, and gives the three of them a night they'll never forget. Another ménage story where friends become lovers.
"A Perfect Storm" — Sera Taíno An argument between Adam and his fiancée, Julia, leads to some soul searching as he realizes that life can change in the blink of an eye. He’s determined to show her just how important she is to him. I love this story because Adam isn’t afraid to admit when he’s wrong. That’s really all a girl can ask for on Valentine’s Day.
"Peaches" — Abbigail Clark In the war-torn American south, Eulie Buchanan meets Jay Curtis, a man who offers her a choice sure to be the talk of the county. This is a really sweet story and is another one of my favorites. I like the added elements of history and race in this short story.
"First Date Gone Right" — Líadáin Douglas When Sarah gets dumped right before her Valentine's Date, two guys come to her rescue and give her a first date she won't quickly forget! Hot Hot HOT!
"Over A Barrel" — V.T. Charbonneau When Madison agreed to cater her cousin's wedding she didn't expect the groom's gorgeous brother to be such an asshole. Locked in the wine cellar together, will she throttle him… or jump him? If you like the love-hate relationship side of romance, then this is the story for you. Personally I’m not a big fan, but it’s well written and interesting.
Is it worth buying? (Kindle $0.99)

Roses and tails Barbara be Jillnell is trying to figure out what a human is doing inviting her to a candle light dinner. She is from out of this world and has the tail to prove it. Thankfully she has someone come to her rescue...and maybe even help her out with a certain situation. Eros' was a walking sex god!! Driving a motorcycle and saving the day. Little did Kaitlin know that she may have found cupid in a human form. This was a good story. I liked it very much. It was one I wished was longer. 5 stars.
burning love

REVIEW This box set has a bit of everything if you like short, hot, steamy books. I am leaving a review for a few. And wow I enjoyed them.
>Unexpected by Annika Steele Maya is an insurance adjuster so of course, she works often, and it seems her current boyfriend Charlie is not onboard anymore with her long hours and lack of attention for him. Well not only does he break up with her she is now out on country roads with storms brewing. Well, she finds herself knocking on the door of a farmhouse and the sexy man who opens the door has set her libido to flames. Rule of the story. When one door slams well a country house's door opens. I enjoyed this one.
>The Sea Chest by Margot Wren Caroline is a lighthouse keeper, and she enjoys collecting sea chests that wash up on the rocks. Well, today she finds one that will change her life for the good? The chest holds very old items, and now she is having strange dreams. Commander Lucas may be a ghost but how he makes Caroline feel is nothing less than real. Sexy, Magical read...
>Power Outage by Caitlyn Lynch What does one do when their husband sends them a sexy dress for a night out? All the power goes out, and he says he is sending their electrician? He will be working late? Well, they get all hot and sexy with the one who is there... WHOOP this is super-hot !!! Raquel is a kept woman, but not all of her needs are satisfied until Scott calls her out on it. Shocker haha.. This was one of my favorites!!
I loved this book! Each short story was terrific! It was so, nice to have stories from so many authors. They were all written very descriptively and you just had to love the characters! There was a bit of humor but over all you knew that each couple loved each other! A real valentine gift and a good beach read!
Who could pass up reading a box set of eighteen steamy short erotic romance stories each featuring a different Valentine's Day theme?!
Since I enjoyed reading all eighteen erotic romance short stories in the Red Hots: A Valentine Anthology, I decided to only provide a general book review instead of individual reviews.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book - thank you to all these great authors and Be My Book Boyfriend for the opportunity.
18 short stories about Valentine’s Day, and not a bad one amongst them. A highly varied set which will give everyone something that titillates, I would definitely recommend it if you’re in the mood for some short, sharp bursts of sexy. A couple of stand outs for me were the Sea Chest by Margot Wren – I really enjoyed the writing and the historical slant with Caroline and James taking centre stage, plus I have always loved sensual ghost stories. A very good read. And also, in a slightly different vein, First Date Gone Right by Liadain Douglas is a threesome story about Robert and Bryan who rescue Sarah from a break up on Valentine’s Day, giving her plenty of other things to think about instead. I felt this story was just done ‘right’, and I thoroughly enjoyed the interaction between the three characters. I will definitely be looking up a few of these authors to see what else they’re coming up with.
Disclaimer: The author provided an ARC of this book to me for review.
Overall, an enjoyable collection. My only real quibble would that aside from several M/M/F stories, there weren't any LGBTQ. That could be based on the anthology rules, though.
Regardless, there were many favorites in this collection, most notably 'Power Outage' and 'A Match Made in Olympus'. There's something for everyone - historical, contemporary, supernatural, even aliens! I would recommend this collection for anyone looking for a nice, steamy read for Valentine's Day.
What a great collection of 18 amazing stories of different genres that each one have their own special quality. they each have just what you need for valentine's day.
