There are more slaves today than any other time in history, babies are being brutally murdered in their mother’s womb, orphans are left alone and uncared for, human life is disregarded, and souls are dying without knowing Jesus. This is something many of us don’t know, or know but don’t really think about, or think about, but don’t really do anything about. But God is calling us do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly, not in our own strength, but in His. In this book, you’ll find information about the injustices, inspiration to take action, real-life stories of people, past and present, who answered God’s call upon their lives, and a list of 102 ways you can take action, starting today. No matter how unqualified you may feel, God will use you to bring justice in this dark and broken world.
Savannah Jane McCrary is an author, artist, history lover, and most importantly, a follower of Jesus passionate about creating beauty and spreading hope and light through her words and art. She is the author of several books for children and young adults. She’s experimented with a variety of genres but especially loves writing true stories and accurate historical fiction that points readers to the hope of the kingdom of heaven and reminds them that God is good. The third born in an amazing family of seven children, Savannah was homeschooled all the way through and lives with her family in beautiful western Montana. Besides writing, drawing, reading, and researching, Savannah loves spending time with her family and their Bernese Mountain Dogs, going on adventures, enjoying God’s creation, getting together with old friends and meeting new ones, and cups of hot tea.
I had the pleasure of meeting this author a few weeks ago at a convention and it was delightful chatting with her. I was able to purchase a book that she happened to have with her and I was eager to begin it.
What I Liked: This book is not too long and it was quite to the point. I enjoyed all of the stories in it and I felt that they were very tastefully written--not too long, not too short. She made some excellent points throughout the book. It is quite refreshing to read a book that does not cower from unpopular opinion, but boldly proclaims the truth of God's Word. She shares the gospel just as boldly and gives hope to those who have already made mistakes or have been shamed and embarrassed by things that have happened to them.
I liked the quotes by heroes of the faith that were inserted within this story. It was a neat aspect of the book.
I also enjoyed the personal stories of Savannah Jane McCrary's family and friends and how the grace of God has been working in and through them. The stories made the book feel more personable, as well. The pictures interspersed were also quite nice.
This book also included practical ways you can be the hands and feet of Jesus here on earth and I thought that was very wise of this author to do. Sometimes people honestly want to help, but don't exactly know where to start. I felt that section of the book was very helpful.
What I Didn't Like: I don't think that there was anything that I didn't like about this book. It was very well done.
I give this book 5 stars and recommend it to anyone who desires to learn more practical ways of sharing the love of Jesus to those around us. Very well done, Savannah Jane McCrary!
