Excellent field guide for common Oho birds, now in its third edition published this year. Convenient size to fit in a camera bag or glovebox or by the window, the clever organization by color(s) of the bird makes it easy to leaf through and find the bird you're looking for. This means that often male and female birds are in different spots, but each gender includes a thumbnail of the other and a page reference. The information is succinct and accurate, the color photographs beautiful, well chosen, and printed clearly. I've found it extremely helpful and recommend it for any bird watcher in Ohio or indeed neighboring states.
Whether you are already into nature, or want to be, this is a great little kit to learn about a big part of nature all around us. Birds are everywhere, beautiful and filled with song. This field guide fits perfectly in my daypack when I go walking at the local nature center, out for a long hiking trip or even in my own backyard. The book is filled with well written information accompanied by great photos. Listening to the audiobook makes hiking more relaxing by being more aware of the environment of nature surrounding you. A great way to unwind from today's over-hectic lifestyles is to reconnect with nature and this kit and a walk in your neighborhood will provide that relaxation. I even love to read or listen to this on my front porch on spring and summer mornings with tea while seeing what wonderful birds surround my home.
Easily locate most birds quickly. There are excellent tips and info on nesting and feeding habits. We have 3 feeders out back and we keep this handy as new feathered friends are stopping by all the time. And all this time I thought they were just sparrows!
This is an incredibly helpful guide to identifying local birds in Ohio. The sections are color-coded and there are multiple cross-references that provide additional assistance.
A good aid for birders or anyone curious about the birds in their backyard. I don't know the identity of waterfowl and this has been a good aid in my advancement of knowledge.
Very informative field guide. This has helped me identify lots of birds that come to my yard and eat and frolick. It has also helped me to learn some things to tell genders apart, like male House Sparrows have a brown beard whereas the female is more ordinary in coloration.
I love the clarity of description and the accurate photos. Thanks to this book, I finally figured out the difference between a hairy and a downy woodpecker!
