About the author

David Campbell was born in San Jose, California. After a typical 1980s childhood he studied English and Creative Writing at Chico State University before acquiring a Master of Communication degree from Boston University. After another fifteen years cultivating a career in marketing among the Silicon Valley elite and publishing newsletters with five times the circulation of the New York Times, he decided to go back to his passion and just write. He hopes you enjoy reading what he wrote as much as he enjoyed writing it. He lives in Los Gatos with his daughter, Lilly.

A 21st century novel about cyber crime and revenge

Sam Page worked for a start up with a group of close friends. A few days before his shares would vest, his "friends" fired him to keep the gains to themselves. Then after a wrongful termination suit, they had him banned from the state. A few years later, after extensive research he returns to blackmail them using a huge database of their criminal activity where they neglected to cover their tracks. Then the fun begins. How can one little guy fight well connected criminals and escape with his life and what they cheated from him?

"The Background Extra" is an intriguing read. Sam Page will have revenge and justice from those who wronged him. The characters in this story are well developed and intelligent. The storyline is intriguing and well written, with great descriptions of Silicon Valley and San Francisco Bay, danger, suspense, drama, and some romance.

I am looking forward to reading more books by this author.
