3.5 second chance stars!!

Have you ever wondered if the one that got away was the one you were meant to be with?!? Have you ever stopped and thought my life is just going, Nothing exciting?!?! If you have this is the book for you!!

Kaleb and Serena found each other. But it was at the wrong time. Both in committed relationships that they weren't ready to let go. Fast forward three years... one is still committed but the other is not.

My thoughts...

Well usually cheating doesn't bother me and especially when one of the significant others is a complete asshat but this book seemed to irritate me a little bit. I didn't care that they were cheating on their significant others but that they thought so little of themselves to keep cheating when they weren't happy. I did enjoy Kaleb so much. You could tell the love he had for her was genuine. I love that he never gave up. And the writing was actually very descriptive and I think it was great. I did skim quite a bit because it moved quite slow. This is a good quick afternoon read.

A drama and action packed book, Love and chemistry transcends time. The one that got away, comes back and it's still not perfect but you go for it anyway. If you don't like cheating this book isn't for you. But, my advice is get past it, its fictional world and wow it lends to drama!!

For a second chance romance this one had the drama in SPADES!  I couldn't believe how much work went into getting Serena and Kaleb together.

I really enjoyed Kaleb's character.  He loves Serena so much that he has really been thorough in taking care of her, even when she doesn't realize it.  Those men are the best...they always have your back and I think readers will really appreciate him for this.

I didn't really think too much of Serena...good girl trying to stay good, there wasn't anything magnificent about her.  Kaleb was really my focus throughout the entire story.

I have no qualms reading stories that include cheating so that really wasn't an issue for me, but for the reader that it is an issue for, I ask that you give this book a chance anyway.  In the beginning I did feel irritated that there was so much cheating going on, but as the story moved on I could really just see two people meeting in the wrong time, wrong place and working really hard at doing the right thing.  Reading is an emotional journey and I definitely did go through a gamut of emotions with Conflicted.

Conflicted is a standalone novel, that I read in one sitting.  There were portions that I felt it was a little slow, but if you keep with it and do not focus on those small spots, the story picks up and drags you in.

I was given a copy of this book for an honest review.
3.5 stars.
I thought the story was good. I enjoy love triangle/cheating stories. I liked the main characters and I really felt for the situation they were in. Sometimes, you find out that you're not with the person that makes your heart burn and it can be hard to remove yourself from that kind of situation. I think they both tried to do the right thing, albeit they had different ideas that had them putting some years of distance between them. When they come in contact again, they find that they still had all the chemistry and feelings that they did before.
I guess my only problem with the book was that the plot was a little bit lacking. It was good while I was reading it but it's not something that will likely stand out to me months from now.

What a lovely read!!

This is a book about how some second chances are just worth fighting for!!

Kaleb and Serena are 2 people who developed a chemistry between each other but know that it must end...both with own partners if there own, kaleb does what he thinks is best and leaves....leaving a heartbroken Serena. 3 years later there lives cross again and sparks fly once again!!

The first part of the book I found to be a little slow and was waiting for something to happen...once I read more in the second part I throughly enjoyed it, I loved how Kaleb was fighting for her right up to the end of the book, these 2 characters work very well together and I honestly loved the happily ever after....definitely a 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read for me...and one I will recommend to anyone.

Look forward to the next book.

This was a great read. Kaleb and Serena have great chemistry but sometimes things just aren't meant to be, but just maybe if you work hard enough you may get what you want. I don't agree with cheating and wasn't sure how I would love this story, but I loved it. This was a second chance at a romance that really didn't stand a chance . The flow was great and the characters amazing.

I absolutely loved this book!

Your routing for the HEA right from the get go.
You experience so many emotions whilst reading this from swooning to dislike.

It's a tale that shows second chances can happen if you work hard and believe in them.

Both lead characters work so well together and the story is very well written

Definite MUST READ from me :)

Kaleb and Serena met while working together and they started having an affair, they both loved each other but they didn't want to leave their partners.

Kaleb ended their affair by moving away, In the three years they were apart Kaleb and Jen split up and he kept tabs on Serena who stayed with Sean and got engaged.

Kaleb moved back to take charge of a new store that Serena had applied for a job with them not knowing she would be working with Kaleb.

Kaleb makes it his mission to win Serena back by getting her to see what Sean is really like. Sean seems like a nice guy at first everyone loves him and Serena's parents are pushing for them to hurry along with the wedding plans that Serena keeps putting off, but you find out that he isn't the nice guy everyone believes him to be.

A true second chance love story that'll steal your heart and soul...

I haven't read either of these authors before, and quite frankly I hadn't heard of them either. However, if there is one thing that I really enjoyed about Conflicted was the brilliant writing and the uninterrupted and seamless flow between these two authors. I'm going to be straight and put this one sticking point out in the open... you know, address the elephant in the room— this story deals with cheating. Now, personally, I don't like it... however, this is a work of fiction and in all honesty the whole taboo subject was handled and manipulated in a way that made the story unputdownable and had me on the edge of my seat wanting to know how the love story would pan out in the end. Would Kaleb and Serena get their happily ever after? I don't know whether I was or not, but if so, boy was I freaking happy to be rooting for the wrong team. What I mean by that is that although I knew what Kaleb and Serena were doing is wrong, I still could not help but urge them on and hope they found their happiness together. Make sense?

Anywho, plot wise, I really enjoyed Conflicted and although it isn't exactly a long book (302 pages), it is a full length novel. Like I said before, it is superbly written and considering it is a collaboration between two authors, you cannot tell where they pick up for one another. Quite frankly the plot is so very well mapped out and executed that it feels like it is a solo book. Another thing that really had me engrossed was how descriptive it was. I really got a sense for the characters, the lives they lead and especially their emotions. I felt like I was on a journey with them, as though I were a part of their story. Personally, I loved this and it really made this book memorable for me. Not to mention that it invoked a rollercoaster of emotions that had me reeling throughout and left me needing more at the end.

When it came to the characters, I'm not going to lie, I struggled a bit with Serena. There was something about her that held me at arms length. I don't quite know why, but at times it felt like she was a little woe is me, and like she was trying too hard to be "good". I don't think she is a bad person, but both she and Kaleb put themselves in a crappy situation, and I felt like he almost had to go out of his way to protect her from their joint actions. I mean, he completely owned their actions, and although he wasn't ecstatic about their situation he wasn't all about the guilt and drowning in the sorrows of what they were doing, whereas Serena just felt off. I guess I wanted her to own her decision. I wanted her to live beyond the guilt because Kaleb loved her so much that he was willing to do anything to make her happy. To have her in his life. To make her his. I don't know. I wanted her to kick butt and be strong, but she just didn't and wasn't. He definitely carried her character throughout the story. But, if anything it just made me really, really, REALLY love him more. Even if it felt like I was rooting for them because I wanted him to be happy. In my opinion he was the star of the show, and a lot of the time it felt like he deserved better, however she does redeem herself towards the second half of the story. I just don't know whether for me it was too late for her by then.

All in all, I absofreakinglutely loved Conflicted, and even if you are a reader that normally doesn't enjoy cheating or love triangles I believe that these characters could make you fall in love with this story. It really is a case of meeting the right person at the wrong time. I am so happy that I took a chance on this book, and on two brilliant new authors. I will most certainly be looking for more of their collaborations and even solo works. Conflicted is a story of two halves, and it is a story of a love that endures and stands the test of time. This is a second chance romance that will have you hoping and praying that love finds its deserved and undeniable course.

As I have come to expect with anything that has Ms La Roux’s name on it this was an exceptionally well written story, and in my opinion, that alone is worth picking it up for but if it isn’t, and you need just a little more persuasion then I would have to say that this is just about as perfect a second time around romance as you are ever likely to read.
The authors took their time through the first part of the story, some might say it was a little slow but I felt it was deliberate and I urge you to be patient and give the characters to draw you in, because once they hit their stride the story took off!
We all know that there are situations, people, whatever from our past that we can’t help but reflect on and wonder what if?
What would you do if you have your time over or if like Kaleb and Serena, you get a second chance at finding what you should have never lost in the first place?
Kaleb and Serena met when there wasn’t anything good that could have ever come from them being together, even though they were deeply attracted to each other, because no matter how good they felt, neither of them was in a position to give their all to those emotions…they each had partners that deserved that.
So, Kaleb did what he thought was for the best and left…was it his only option, probably not but it was the one that spoke to him, no matter that he knew that by leaving her behind he would break Serena heart…and he did. I felt for both of them at this point but I must say that I ultimately respected the fact that Kaleb did what he did, it was a damage limitation exercise and much as he hated that he hurt her, had he stayed the emotional fall out for them both could have been catastrophic.
So, the book rolled forward just a few years and fate brought them back into each other’s circle and it didn’t take long for the feelings that they had both burrowed away to come rushing back to the surface, this was a couple that deserved a second chance but that were going to have to stop running and learn to fight for what they wanted…each other?
Kaleb put everything on the line and I loved just how hard he was willing to push everything to get Serena to see that what they could have would be spectacular, I got that they had stepped over a line previously and I really am not a huge fan of books that contain cheating but its real life, and it happens and in this case I think it gave the pair of them something to reflect on and to use to guide what they could and would do now, it was a rebalancing of their moral compass, after all they both knew that having lost each other once, this was their last chance at a forever!
From the outset I think the book and the characters had something to prove, it was a sort of don’t judge a book by its cover scenario, in as much as don’t judge Kaleb and Serena by their actions, because in the end theirs was an invisible bond that even when apart was working to get them back together. I believe that fate had it hand in everything they experienced and whilst their time wasn’t right three years previously, it was right now and they had an ending to work towards, but whether it was a happy one or not remained to be seen.
Emotionally this will test you, it did me but that is a good thing.
You will love, laugh and despair not just along with them but for them, you will silently hope for a happy ever after, readily forgetting the wrath you would have liked to heap upon the earlier for their transgressions and all of this is what for me made this a great read, it brought my heart into play not just my head. It made me look at what I think and feel and put me into their shoes and whilst I may not have agreed with everything, I understood it all.
A second chance for everyone, never a bad thing!

Haven't you ever wondered about the one that got away? Conflicted gives hope to the hopeless romantics out there, that in the end, there's still a chance true love will win out over time and change. Afterall, we never really leave our true love behind and carry them into every new relationship we enter and every new adventure we embark on. Sometimes the tides of time and change pull us too far away to go back. But what if...things weren't too far gone? What if there was still a chance to set things right? Conflicted is perfect for all the hopeless romantics who can't help but wonder...what if?

Freaking loved this book! This was the first book Alice La Roux & Stefany Rattles co-wrote together and I have to say they should definitely do it again. The book flowed perfectly and this has become one of my top romantic reads. This book follows a couple that were destined to be together and find their happily ever after. Unfortunately, they have many problems in the way that would dampen any other relationship. But not these two. I cant recommend this book any higher and you should definitely give it a read!

Conflicted? Yes I am

Like legit, I am conflicted right now. Its after midnight. I couldn't put this book down. Kaleb is panty-melting amazing. Serena could be a little better developed, but I could relate to her. My heart was pounding like crazy all the way through. I will say that I am not a huge fan of cheating, but Sean was definitely NOT the one for her. Great plot and o love the added touch with Laura. What comes next?

The plot really takes off, and how it is all going to end is totally unpredictable - the urge to keep turning pages increases in line with the pressure on the characters. Within the first few chapters, I just knew I couldn't put it down until I had devoured it's every content. It has been a long time since I have been so gripped by a book.

✯✯4 Second Chance Stars!!!✯✯

This was my first read by both of these authors. It won't be my last either. I have no idea which author wrote what. It was a nice quick read. I don't mind reading a book with cheating in it. If thats not your thing then this isn't the book for you.

Kaleb and Serena started off as co-workers. Then, they gave into their attraction to each other. They were in love with each other. The only problem was they were both in committed relationships. Before Serena had the chance to really tell Kaleb how she felt he moved. Serena was gutted and ended up staying put.

Fast forward a few years and Kaleb is back. He's the boss now and he wants the best on his team. Serena's shocked to learn that Kaleb will be her boss. Their attraction is ten times more then it was before. Kaleb lets her know he wants her. He won't give up this time without a fight.

I loved Kaleb!! He legit did everything for Serena. The things he did for her when she thought Kaleb was out of her life, he was very much in her life protecting her. I just wish he would've come forward sooner and let everything out.

Serena I didn't like too much. She stayed in a relationship for years and she wasn't happy and not in love. She had all the excuses on why she stayed. I feel she just didn't wanna be alone. Serena also never saw one red flag that blowing in her face.

If it wasn't for Kaleb I feel she would've killed it for me. All together though I did like this story. And, talk about the epilogue. What!!?? I need the next story and now!

Star Rating - ****

I love a happily ever after and luckily for me, that's how Conflicted finished up! However, I was worried part way through that I wasn't going to get my sought after HEA! The story line teeters with infidelity, which unfortunately I dont really enjoy reading. But once I was able to get over that, I really enjoyed the latter part of the book.

Serena and Kaleb have been having an affair. When Kaleb decides he needs to let Serena go, he moves with his partner, Jen, to another state and leaves his past behind. However, not long after he's back and chasing what he left behind. Will Serena come back to him or will her guilt keep her trapped in a relationship with Shaun?

The one that almost got a way. Love has a way of coming back. I really enjoyed this book. The secrecy and they drama is so captivating. I feel, readers are able to relate to certain circumstances as well as understand how another may feel in a particular situation. On a whole I enjoyed the book. I love how he never gave up on her and his intentions were there to protect her. Loved both kaleb and Serena ❤️
