Cursed Gift - Book One: Penumbra
Stix is as cold and hard as the steel she carries. Her sympathy was extinguished long ago by the murders of those closest to her. She'd become so jaded that she could be hired to settle a score, permanently. She is fiercely loyal, however, to those few she counts as friends.
But then a group of mysterious strangers led by a woman with black eyes enters her town. Stix knows they are evil, but she is the only one, and when she accuses them of causing the deaths of two people, she is ostracized. So she journeys to find out how these newcomers were able to enchant an entire town, and why they turn into creatures with taloned hands and sharpened teeth. And how to destroy them.
With surprises around every twist in her path, she faces her regrets and spite with wit and humor. Stix may begin her journey alone, but she returns with an army of friends. Not only is the truth revealed about the fiends, but about herself as well. She also finds that her life is inescapably entwined with that of the creatures.
