Finally! A review that I was eager to give to my readers. The Wise Man Said, by Priya Kumar, was one book that I had desperately wanted to read and when Priya Kumar's office asked me for a review of the same, I was thrilled, to say the least! After reading The Calling by the same author I was sure that this book, too, would help people achieve what they thought was unachievable. A lengthy bit of an introduction but well deserved nonetheless. Let's get to the review before I get carried away with my ramblings.

The book is about the many journeys made by Sammy, a billionaire, who travels the world eleven months a year. He goes from one place to the other, gathering knowledge and experiences, that he writes about in his diary. A wanderer, Sammy lets his intuition take lead to experience any adventure/obstacle, willing to even die in the process. His aim is to learn and by not fearing anything, he is able to do so freely. The book is a collection of twelve gems that are his experiences, and the lessons that he learns, he jots down at the end of each one of them. When Naina, a troubled and confused writer is left with Sammy's diary, little does she imagine that this will be her life's greatest lesson, a solution to all her problems, as was the case with Sammy himself.

My thoughts? I almost teared up at the end of the book, it was so heart touching. The Wise Man Said, like other books from the author, fills you up with all the positivity in the world. The twelve stories and the lessons learnt (so conveniently pointed down for us readers) are a treasure trove of wisdom. They open the heart and mind to the treasure that is YOU - something that we not only fail to notice but also underestimate.

"The answers are within, O' Dear One." - This quote says it all. YOU are so much more than you think. It holds so much meaning. It might be a plain phrase but when the true meaning is revealed, it has the power to change oneself like no other. It is amazing how the author succeeds in motivating us over and over again through her writing. Here are some other quotes that I found interesting from the book.

"And as you emerge as you, the questions dissolve and the answers become unnecessary, for when you rise as the God Force that you are, you create as you will. Find your space, where you can be you."

"I like the theory of Man God. It makes him more human and it makes me more God."

"The path may come to an end but that doesn't have to be the end of the journey."

"I will keep doing what makes me happy and I will make others happy as I do."

And my favorite of them all: "As I say, so it is."

How powerful are these affirmations! I feel utterly inspired after having read the book and would definitely recommend it to each and every one of you, it is truly a treasure of a book!

*** This book was sent to me by the author in exchange for an honest review. ***

“Time is what has stunted the vision of mankind and bound it to mortality. The past and the future have enslaved man in its wake. None exist."

The Wise Man Said by Priya Kumar delivers a powerful message about how a sudden inspiration can alter one's outlook on life in general. The main character, Naina, a writer by profession, was going through a trying time in her life. She has never been able to find the happiness and calm she needs in the job she has always aspired to.

She was rushing to finish her book on time when she came across a beautiful garden outside of the bustle of the city. She ran into Sammy, a strangely attired 80-year-old man with a long, flowing beard when she ran into him. There was something distinctive about this odd-looking man; he seemed to radiate wonderful, inspirational energy.

This novel is about self-discovery, self-belief, and much more. It helps and guides the readers to find a new way out when things go up and down. I definitely recommend this book to readers who wish to experience fiction with a dose of self-help.

You might like to wander through a few artistic journals — they’re full of sparks and surprises.

" It doesn't matter how long I live. I am alive now and that's the only time that matters. "

Have you ever pondered over the thought that Who are you? What exactly is your purpose/aim in life? What defines you ?

" No one takes you to the fire or saves you from it.You chose your own direction."

The story begins with Naina, a writer, struggling with her writer's block. She has a lot of pressure from her publishers to write a book within the deadline but she hasn't started yet. In order to find peace she traveled to the sunflower field. There she met Sammy, an old man who was very cheerful and full of life. She was instantly attracted towards him and they both started a conversation. Sammy , after knowing Naina's story gave her his diary so that she could take inspiration from him.

The diary was all about the many journeys made by Sammy, a billionaire, who traveled the world eleven months a year. He used to travel without his identity & money and thought of enjoying his life instead of just living it. The knowledge and experiences he gained from all his trips were written in that diary along with the lessons he learnt from individual trips. The book was a collection of twelve gems which changed Naina's life for good.

You definitely need to pick up and read this book. This book will let you explore your inner self and make you realize your true worth. You'll definitely embark on a new journey after reading it. The chapters are engaging - each connected to a story which is so relatable. It is not like a typical self help book but is unique in its own way.

I absolutely enjoyed reading this one. I I was actually hooked to the book. It's a short read and an absolute beauty. The language is easy and simple and the book is well paced too.

Naina an author under tremendous pressure from her publisher because she hasn’t followed what she had promised so she takes off to find a peaceful spot in nature to escape and try to mentally regroup. It is when she comes across an elderly man with a long white beard and red shoes whose name is Sammy.

The book is about the many journeys made by Sammy, a billionaire, who travels the world eleven months a year. He has achieved his primary goal of building a legacy but on cost of his happiness and family. Now his aim is to learn and by not fearing anything, he is able to do so freely. It's a compilation of 12 interesting short stories which are series of events from the old man’s life and loaded with deep observations and lessons learnt. Our choices and decisions make us what we are and what we will be. We cannot put the blame on anyone for whoever we are and wherever we are.

Review :
After reading The Calling by the same author I was sure that this book, too, would help people achieve what they thought was unachievable. The narration is heart touching. Author has portrayed the raw truth that being a successful person does not give you all the answers and all the happiness you want. Each chapter is followed by gem of words which silently finds their way in your heart to grow there forever. The book contains so many simple things which we as evolved as we are, tend to ignore. The book is a treasure trove of wise words. Also there are multiple quotes from the books that I want to mention here but it'll spoil the fun for you.

The book will definitely change your perspective towards life and could potentially help you solve your problems, find your own path. Highly recommended. I would love to hear people share their experiences about the wisdom they gain from these pages.

Inspiration could come from any source of life. Sometimes we could receive it from the innocence reflected in the eyes of a child, or from an old grandma's eager willingness to live more or may be from the perseverance with which an ant moves. There is no precise definition for inspiration. It could choose any path to reach you somehow, whether you have expected it or not.

The book "The Wise Man Said" by Priya Kumar holds a strong message on how an unexpected inspiration could change one's overall perspective towards life. The protagonist Naina, who was a writer by profession was going through a tough phase of her life. The position where she has always aspired to be has somehow failed to give her the adequate amount of happiness and peace. Struggling to meet her book deadline on time, one day she reached a captivating garden located far from the hustle-bustle of city life. There she bumped into an eighty-year old man Sammy, an oddly dressed man with a long flowing beard. There was something different about this eccentric looking man, he seemed to carry positive and awe-inspiring vibes within himself.

An abrupt meeting with Sammy was the turning point in Naina's life. Going through his adventurous and evolving journey, she has learned the hidden lessons of life.
The author has fantastically naraated his journey with respect to all ups and downs he has gone through. Every chapter unfolds a new message with great enthusiasm. I really admire the way author has pointed out all basic points under the title "what i missed seeing then". She has also done justice to the cover of the book. In a nutshell, this book has proved to be a great source of inspiration for me.
Happy reading.

RATINGS - 4.5/5

This book unfolds the story about a girl named naina, who is an authoress and she is going through the toughest part of her life when she doesn't get any inspiration to write the new book which she has promised to the publisher. when she was tired and strolling in the fields, she saw an old man stacking sacks wearing a red nike shoes. Naina was really amused and she sat their and did some chit chat with him. Then, the old man offers his diary which was named as 'wanderlust' to the young girl. And from here starts the entire story.

"our decisions, the choices that we make in our lives, impacts the lives and decisions and choices of others too. when we change course of our lives, the lives of those connected to us change too. Life and death holds in it an infinite array of possibilities."

So, this book is different than any else as it tells us some amazing chapters metaphorically. If you will read the book, you might think that how it can be possible, But you need to think deeper or metaphorically to understand the resemblance of words. The author had did a spectacular job by giving some lessons at the end of every chapter. This book also gives us some information about travelling and places. Her writing style is impeccable. I just loved this book and I will definitely read it again. I have annotated all the important or beautiful lines in the book. This book had taught me many lessons like don't follow people, be unique, embrace life etc. But most importantly this book taught me that money really isn't everything!! I will say that this book is more of a self help book than fiction. I will highly recommend all of you to read this book. I didn't' expect this book to be so good. Kuddos to the author for writing this beautiful book.

Have you ever met a stranger who has changed your life?
When I say "changed your life", it doesn't mean that he/she has done something extraordinary that changed your course of life. It's about the little things. Helping you when you are in distress or giving a little push that you've always looked for.

"The Wise man said" is also about such a stranger who has changed and inspired an author when she is not happy with her life.
Naina is the author of three books which have inspired and transformed the lives of her readers. She achieved the success that she always dreamt of. She has got name and fame but still, she is not happy with her current life. Then, she encounters an old man named Sammy. Sammy is a man who spends most of the days of his life travelling to different places without a penny in his pocket. He writes about all his experiences in a diary. When he comes to know about the author's situation, he leaves his diary with her. From here, the stories in this book are all about Sammy's experiences - the places that he visited, the people that he met and the lessons that he learnt.

All the stories succeed to teach valuable lessons to the readers. My favourites are “The man who gave too much” and “Where did the man go”. While I couldn't connect to a few stories as a few things mentioned seemed to be difficult to actually implement in real life for me. It is my personal experience. So, there is a possibility that you may feel connected to those stories. I wish that Naina's views, learnings and her journey of transforming her life are mentioned in further stories, not only limiting the character to the first few pages.

I would recommend this book if you love reading self-help books or if you're a beginner and want to read short inspirational books, you can pick this one.

3.5/5

“When the mind is consumed with one thought, it manifests it in your universe.” (101)
One of the best books by Priya Kumar which will make a permanent place in your life and holds the power to change your perspective. The book will teach the reality to live life successfully and guide you through whatever you are facing.
It will give you the motivation to keep going and the strength to move on from anything. All of this is shown to us in very lucid language in the form of short stories.
The wise man said, starts with an author struggling on deadline to finish writing a book due to her writer’s block. That’s when in a field she meets an old man with a soothing aura and wise thoughts. She’s curious about him and they talk sometime.
While departing, the old man left her his diary to read and go through the experiences, which consisted of 12 short stories, having the strength to move you. These stories may seem simple but hold so much within.
The embedded messages can change the way you live. It’s like a fictional and realistic fictional self-help book that will just straight away talk to you. The lessons to take and the important points written separately with the bullet points are soo nice.
That P.P.P.P.P.S messages were my favourite. :p
And I cannot forget that pub story ever now, it's on loop in my mind. :( :p
The book and its stories were directly talking to me and I was present there within it, seeing everything with my own eyes.
I loved the book and will recommend it to everyone.

What would you do, if on a day you're feeling really down?

Well, for Writer Naina Seth, the answer was simple. Taking a walk down a trail never taken. What she definitely didn't expect was meeting an old man. A wise old man who was about to change her life forever.

The Wise Man Said is the story of Sammy - The Wanderer, his adventures and how Naina Seth gets to live them through his leather diary that he left behind for her in exchange for her scarf.

Let's just say that this old man is into really wild adventures. You'll come across stories that'll make you wish to take such crazy trips too!

Throughout the course of book you'll find the first hand account of the man's journey across the globe with no particular motive in mind. Self exploration is the key and as a reader you get to explore much more than what you'd normally bargain for.

Review:

The cover is beautiful. And let's just take a moment to praise the packing in which the book comes.

The blurb of the book gives a good idea about the theme.

The language used throughout the book is lucid and descriptive, both helps for you to imagine things in a way that you'd like.

Overall, the book is a very inspirational and interesting read. It isn't a edge of the seat kind of thriller but the one where you get to travel places within.

I'd recommend this book as a self-help, spiritual read.

Book Review : The Wise Man Said
Author : Priya Kumar
Genre : Fiction (Self Help)
Pages : 180
Publisher : Books That Inspire

“Even though you learn from your mistakes, you still have to bear the consequences of it.”

Naina, a successful author, who has written three books till now and has managed to change the lives of its readers, with her stories, is still struggling with her own life and goals. Her 6 months deadline to submit her final draft is almost over, yet she is still clueless about her next story.

One day, amidst her struggles, she meets an old man named Sammy whose appearance is quite unusual as compared to others. Sammy had a calm and composed aura which clearly reflected the contentment he felt in the moment he is living. Naina was overwhelmed when she discovered that the old man was actually the owner of 32 companies. She was curious to know more about Sammy and so he narrated his story to Naina and why did he leave all the luxuries behind and roaming as a wanderer.

Back then, Sammy was an utterly ambitious man whose primary goal was to create wealth and build legacy. He achieved his goals but at the cost of his family. He lost his two children and wife due to his ignorance towards them. By the time he realised his irrevocable loss, it was too late. He could not undo his past but he could change his future. Hence his journey towards an adventurous and meaningful life began.

Before leaving for his next journey, Sammy gifted Naina his own diary where he had penned down the beauty of the places he visited, the people he met on his journey as a wanderer and the experiences and adventures (some horrific and some pleasant) he came across.

My Review :
I ardently believe that angels do exist in this world, we just need to have the eyes to see and the heart to feel them. After you finish reading the story you will also believe that Sammy’s role in Naina’s life was of an Angel. This book changed my perspective towards life. It helped me to decode the outcome of my present which is linked to the decisions I made in the past. Each and every chapter has a really deep and meaningful message to offer. The author has penned down notes at the end of each chapter which is really helpful for its readers to understand the moral clearly.
I enjoyed reading all the chapters but “The man who gave too much” was my favourite. The reason behind this chapter being my favourite is that it gives out a very important message, that, we should never help people without them asking for it. Sometimes our good intentions might turn into a curse for someone.
Sammy’s character was written beautifully, his sanity, maturity and his belief to not give up is something I really will try to implant in my life.
The writing style of the author is lucid, simple, convincing and understandable. Lastly the cover of the book is very eye catchy.
If you really love reading self help books, please read this book and I’m sure you will thank me later for recommending this book.

The Wise Man Said by priyakumar7272
Author protagonist Naina, depicts beautifully how inspite of being a top inspirational writer, she has lack of inspiration in her life. She makes her characters reach a happy ending, she s still searching for hers!
In this quest, she meets Sammy, a self proclaimed billionaire, who travels the world for 11 months and wears these quirky red nike shoes. He 'just gets going' ans in his travels the journey keeps growing with him. So basically then, he leaves his diary that is basically a travelogue, belonging to the wanderer and lessons learnt.

So, the rest of the book is the wise man here, Sammy's visit to 12 places, Iceland,China, Boashan Stone City, Indonesia, Peru in the land of Inca, Nigeria, Timbuktu in Morocco, Mexico, Somalia, Eze in Southern France to Greece and finally yes, google fell short!

The book is not only motivational, its self curing, the things the wise man missed seeing then, are what we would have missed too and on thought would definitely come to us.
The series of PS, P.P.S and the infinite s of them are again revelations from moments lived and thought of.

My favourite anecdote is the one from Inca, about finding your soulmate! And how Sammy proclaims to his secretary, she is hers. She doesn't realise the inner meaning of it and rushes it up to be craziness at Sammys age of eighty.

He s truly a mix between Getafix and Dumbledore, a stylized one you bet though!
The lesson I took to heart from this book is that Hindsight is important.

I recommend this book to everyone, fiction, non fiction readers and mostly if you need to figure out and wait a bit on life!
Publishers booksthatinspire, thank you for the beautiful covering, the book came wrapped in. Also the book has a beautiful, mystical cover and lovely dedications from the author.
Should i rate this book ?! Well ok 4/5* because some points were kind of repeated at parts!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

The Wise Man Said by Priya Kumar is a non fiction book about life. That's how I'd like to explain this book. First of all, let me tell y'all, how beautiful the writing is. The parts from the diary of Sammy were soo soothing and inspirational at times. I loved the vibes so much.
The book begins with Naina, a writer, who is in a writer's slump and isn't able to submit her draft to her editor and the deadline is approaching fast. Then we get to see Sammy/Wanderer, a 'nearly 80 year old' billionare who decides that he's going to leave his identity and money behind and to explore life. All he wanted was to have life changing adventures and experiences at any cost, even death. They both end up meeting and he ends up doing an exchange, her scarf for his diary. (Read the book to find out why the scarf?) And that way the stories begin, twelve adventures Sammy has lived through, Naina gets to read about.
The stories are filled with humor, twists, lots of wisdom and Sammy's willingness to experience anything, his eagerness to embrace life.
Reading the diary changes Naina's life. Was it in a good or bad way? Will she be able to submit her draft? And does she ever find the Wanderer again? Read the book to find out!

Let me say it again, I freaking loved the writing style in this book. This is my second book from Priya Kumar, and I must say, I love her style soo much. The language is so simple yet soo beautiful phrased, you're gonna be in awe how simple phrases are tweaked a bit and they become ethereal at times. Definitely a very skilled author. At times the lines were lyrical even. The ending was so beautiful too.
I love how the author has managed to convey a lot of important life lessons through the adventures of the Wanderer. I definitely recommend everyone to got for this book, regardless of whether you like non fiction or not, you're gonna like this one a lot.

Once in a very long while, we find a good book- where we wholly connect with the protagonist, been through the same mental conflicts as his/her, yet the answer we hadn't yet  reached.  This is such a book for me.  And maybe that's why I found it refreshing at the beginning- the trust that I could understand everything better as I travel with the life of the protagonist,  who is an author trying to figure out his next move and where it would take him.

He meets an old man of 80, named Sammy, and this book is his diary where he shares his adventures- the experiences, the lessons.  If a billionaire would leave all his belongings behind and travel around the world- what would it be like?  This book shows it.

Honestly speaking, the moment I started the book, I was already in the middle of it. The first 100 pages flew before I could comprehend and I couldn't highlight enough.  So many valuable quotes.  Monotony hits as I turn through the next half- though stories are not completely alike- the pattern is.  And I needed a break to move through them one after the other.

Some quotes struck right there in the spot where all my sensitivities exist and I can't move on within thinking about them twice- "What you don't give attention to, dies, fades away, drops out of your universe," "Time is the biggest enemy, the worst creation of man.  There is no time.  There is no past.  There is no future.  There is only now."  The ending is good- liberating maybe.

Often compared with Paulo Coelho, the author's style of writing is simple, straight to the point, philosophy mixed with fantasy (as in 'The alchemist').  I have already read the other two books written by the author Priya Kumar and she never fails to astonish me.

Everytime I read her books, I ask myself if Philosophy is my favourite genre- it is refreshing, it is didactic, it keeps us seeking.

Those who love books that are philosophic, you can surely go for it.

The first book that I read of Author Priya Kumar was 'I am another You' which indeed justified the title & gave me a new perspective & hope to my life when I was just starting my work life. The blurb of 'The Wise Man Said' gave me the same kind of vibes. At this point of time, my questions are more complex and I was confident that this book would solve many Puzzles of mind.

'The Wise Man Said' is a thought provoking journey of an individual whose life has a relevance with many people who are on a blind run towards the concept of successful & perfect life. The events that unfold through a diary explaining the journey of realisation directs the readers towards ultimate Truth.

With each proceeding chapter, the book keeps inter relating the plot & it works on the thought process of the readers so that no matter how different the questions might be but every reader manages to find their own suitable answer. To make it more specific and clear, the points are mentioned at the end of each chapter.

Author Priya Kumar's books are the one's where we need to give her a command to guide us instead predicting how the plot goes. As i am familiar with her calibre I devoted myself to the plot without any second thought. I could see my blurred answers getting clear right after couple of chapters..

I am once again convenienced that Priya Kumar's books are literally a gem and a must read.
No matter at what phase of life you are struck up, confused or suffering, try reading this book. I'm sure it has answers that can not be obtained from any other source.
Highly Recommended to Everyone.

It's a rollercoaster of motivational quotes at the end of every chapter there are some quotes and statements that give the morals of the story.

It's been a delightful experience reading Priya Kumar's book she always weaves the story in a way that gives knowledge and also a beautiful story to remember.

Usually, I don't love motivational books but Priya Kumar has a good way to make the story interesting.

This story has a quite intriguing tale of an 80-year-old man who has a billion dollars in his account and still he goes around the world without money and his identity to have adventures in his life he missed all the years.

Glimpse in a blink

The wise man said has the story of a girl who is a writer who lost her touch in writing and is frustrated with her life she has deadlines to meet but till now she hasn't written anything because she feels lost.

One day she was walking aimlessly and ended up in a garden where an old man was uprooting some unwanted grass weeds and politely asked about her and she expressed her life with him and that man has a way of living, he normally doesn't go back to a place he has visited. He has a simple fundamental " I come to a place, I live, I learn and then Move on".

Naina is a renowned author and has written good books and her work touched the lives of many people but still, it didn't enlighten her from the power her books have, when she said to an old man she is tired, an old man says go sleep.

Old Man shares his story with her and when he goes he left a diary for her in which he had written about his life adventures and learning.

The Wise Man Said is about how a chance encounter can impact someone's life. The encounter between Naina, a writer who was being rushed to complete her novel and between Sammy, a travel enthusiast and The Wise Man. Naina gets her hands on Sammy's diary which has 12 tales from his journey and the lessons he learnt through them. Will a girl who has lost hope and is quite unsure of her future find her answers in a diary?

The book takes the reader along the path of self-discovery.

The writing, as seen in all Priya Kumar’s books, is simple and easy to understand. So, is the narration.

The storyline is well-crafted and wonderfully written. The analogies used in the story are quite impressive. The book is well paced.

The cover of the book is apt along with the structure of all the chapters. Each chapter is loaded with information.

My reading journey
I took my time to read this book. Each chapter has so much to give and I liked the one liners at the end of the chapters (bookmarked a lot of them).

IN A NUTSHELL
The Wise Man Said might help you find your path and assist you in self-discovery. After reading this book, you might feel inspired to take on a new journey within. All in all, this is the self-help book you need if you feel lost like our protagonist.

Recommend? YES. If you are a beginner or a reader looking for self-help, this is the book for you. You can also pick it up if you want to like reading stories with lessons packed in it.

The story starts with Naina, an established writer who is badly thought out and is not able to write her next book, so was, therefore struggling to meet the book's deadline on time. One day she reached a heavenly garden and there she met with an 80-year-old man, Sammy, who she felt has a very different and positive vibe, who gave his diary to Naina which incorporate many journeys made by Sammy.

This book is a series of events from the old man's life. He travelled for 11 months a year without any money. This book has around 12 stories. Wherever Sammy goes, he gained some knowledge and experiences.

These short stories talk about love, failure, success, money, time, faith, fear etc.
Through this book Priya Kumar tried to tell us that answers to all our problems are always with us, all we have to do is find those answers within ourselves.

The book like 'The Wise Man Said' always motivates me. These books impel me not to quit and do every possible thing to achieve my goal.

This book gives a fresh perspective of life, which could help us in finding the key to our problems and stumble on our own path.

I would like to suggest you that please don't read this book in one go. Take time, go for dawdle reading. Try to grok what the old man wants to say.

This book is recommended to all...

‘The Wise Man Said’ written by ‘Priya Kumar’ is an absolutely delightful story that is waiting to wrap you up in a delicious blanket of warming feel-good. This is an extraordinary and refreshing read. The book provides an optimistic view about life in its unique way. This book covers various aspects ranging from adventure to spiritual views. The story is written with first person’s perspective. It begins with Naina, an established author, who has been postponing submitting her manuscript to the editor since six. With having a little time before submission of her draft, she decides to take a stroll in the garden amidst a breezy morning.
The story has been treated well with an engaging narrative and lucid language which will keep you intrigued in this exceptional book. Narration is quite impressive & subtle and the transitions between various scenes is smooth. Each chapter ends with summarised points which the old man missed seeing before. These bullet points conclude the chapters with the learnings from each adventure.
The book is a fascinating eye-opener. This book can really change your perspective towards things and situations. Each chapter is different from the previous one and more interesting as well. The structure of the book is wonderful and the plot is well-researched.

Wow, i just loved this story thoroughly. The beauty of this story is, although it's narrated in fiction way, nonfiction readers can also read this as the author has mentioned many great lessons and some important things about life.

The story starts like this, the protagonist is lost in her life. She is in search of a story to submit to her editor. She has everything she had dreamt of ten years ago but still she feels her soul empty. Then she met an old but cute man and he gives some valuable advice to her.

This old man is a wanderer and as said in the blurb, he is on adventures and wanders to new places, meets new people, learns new languages and having some soul satisfying experiences.

Now, these adventures are narrated in a wonderful way in his diary which the protagonist reads. Every adventure has an interesting story with useful message about all aspects of life.

I had a great experience of reading this book. The author has sent signed copy along with a cute bookmark and a journal. Although I don't like reading nonfiction, if they are written in such an amazing way, i would definitely pick it up. The language is easy to understand. The writing style is gripping. If you like a good fiction book having useful and important life lessons, go grab this book, you won't regret it.

The Wise Man said by Priya Kumar is a real eye opener. It is a really motivational self help book. And more than that it is a book of self discovery....a book of journey of life and what lies in it.
What makes this book unique is that the lessons of life are told through the help of a tale, the story of Naina.
Naina is a storyteller with three amazing books to her name. But she has suddenly lost inspiration and now is on the deadline of 24 hrs to complete her next book of whose progress she has made none.
By a chance encounter with Sammy, an old man with young bones, she finds herself finding a prospect inspiration. Sammy was a billionaire who has now left that life and travels throughout the world going on adventures to find the meaning of life which he has written in twelve tales in his diary. This he leaves to Naina to read and brood over.
Thus starts the story of self discovery and valuable life lessons. The lessons to live in the moment, to cherish what we have now and let the past go away. Various codes of conducts on which to live by and how everything is just a fragment of the whole is explained at its best.
The cover is really beautiful and the title is very apt.
A really motivational read.

A spiritually charged book with intricate details woven into a dynamic narration.

• Priya Kumar is a wizard of words, in the sense that this book made me rethink certain decisions I've taken.

•The Wise Man Said is an epic book, narrated through the lens of an 80 year old multi-millionaire (an odd choice of protagonist that had me intrigued).

•I also found out that this book has been the recipient of many international awards and rightfully so.

•Like I said Priya Kumar has a way of using a simple, flowy narration that gets you intrigued but at the same time makes you feel peaceful.

•Motivational quotes at the end of every chapter is undoubtedly an amazing way to end one of Sammy's adventures (there are twelve wholesome chapters in all)

•While I'd picked this up because of the cover, I'm glad I did because this was in fact an eye opener.

•Naina is just as dynamic a character as Sammy with her own story to tell (literally) but I'm biased, I like Sammy more.

•The Wise Man Said leaves you thinking whether you're actually enjoying the life you live.

•I recommend for the beauty of it.

‘ The Wise Man Said ‘ struck me as a wonderful guide to living. Only when you read the book do you realize the true meaning and intent of the title of the book. The book is not just a few wise words of an old man ... it is a treasure trove wise words.

By giving up everything, the protagonist is able to experience life without being held back by material possessions or even wants. As he needs something, it comes to him. By not carrying around a lot of baggage, he is also not burdened by things.

This book taught me to use the power of hindsight. When you are going through a bad phase or challenging experience, you might wish for the experience to end and never remember it.
All the chapters in the book are thought-provoking and taught me something about life

I can definitely go back to "The Wise Man Said" again and again. If you are looking for a book that can change your life in a positive way, you must pick this one. A must read Motivational Book....

The writing style was good and engaging

The narration too was done quite well.

The plot of the book truly has a charm that keeps the reader engaged in reading it.

The characters were very well developed. I could connect with sammy very well.

I did feel that the book took a slow pace in between and felt a bit over dragged.

The wise man said by Priya Kumar
Have you been feeling lost lately and lack motivation? Then this is the perfect book for you. Priya Kumar takes us on a memorable journey through the pages of a diary of an 80 year old man – Sammy. Sammy tells us about his travels to remote corners of the world without a single penny in his pocket and what all he learnt from it. Each experience is unique and gives you a fresh perspective on life.
The plot is simple and straightforward. The character is well developed and the language is clear and easy to understand. I liked the author’s writing style which motivates you without being preachy. I especially loved the “ what I missed seeing then” section. This is the kind of uplifting book I will visit again and again when ever I am feeling down. If you liked reading Robin Sharma's ‘The Monk who sold his Ferrari' you’lllove this book. Recommended for everyone.
