This book took me through so many emotions!! First I was like "uh oh who is this stranger." Then I was like "Oh snap they know each other." Then I was like "Oh hell naw!! It's time for a ninja to die" (While taking off my earrings). So Maxwell/Ian and Robyn was high school/ college lovers until Robyn decided to follow her dreams. Well that left a bad taste in Maxwell mouth so he decided to get revenge in the worst way!! If I was Robyn, homeboy would be six feet under at the very minimum! But they seems to clear the air and all is right with the world!! The one thing that I like most was that you didn't know in the beginning they had a past and I like that plot twist. Very well written. The one thing I didn't like was that it was a very short read. I guess I wanted more Robyn and Maxwell.

I received an advance reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I definitely enjoyed and recommend this book. Robyn has just returned to her small home town after being away for years. She went to New York to pursue her dreams and she was successful but there was something missing. She returns hoping that she can find what she was lacking in New York. She meet a man named Maxwell at a housewarming party and sparks instantly fly. The two have so much chemistry that it is palpable. Now after this there a major twist to the story that I didn't see coming at all! It seems really far-fetched but when you read the rest of the book it makes so much sense. I can't really review more without ruining the twist but the main question I asked myself while reading this was can love really be enough in the end?
Another winner from Ms Vasser!!! Maxwell and Robyn' s story was a neat little story! Given that the story is a novella and I'm not a huge fan of those, The Room packs a mean punch. Ms Vasser in my opinion does a fantastic job of putting together a fast paced and suspenseful but complete story that had me anxious to see what would happen at the end.
Given its length, I thought it would lead into the dreaded cliffhanger, but again, the author did well to tie up everything in this short story. While I felt sorry for Robyn when Maxwell revealed his intention to revenge, it really upped the ante and gave the story a delicious twist I never saw coming!! The lovebirds were very well matched and the sparks between them off the chain.
I absolutely enjoyed Max and Robyn's story and can't wait to read it again, this time at a much slower pace so I can really savour it. Fantastic read.
I love LaShawn Vasser writing and this book had me feeling some kind of way. Don't get me wrong I loved the book but I could've beat Maxwell to a bloody pulp when pulled that mess (in order to find out what mess you need to read the book). This book exemplifies how people go about getting closure the wrong way and it backfires. I felt that Robyn forgave him way to easy the day after the incident, even though she did show him that she wasn't to be trifled with. After reading this book I think I will be more careful with others feelings. Great read LaShawn Vasser. I was given this book as an ARC for an honest review and my review is a little short because I feel that if I tell you more it would ruin the experience for you.
I have yet to read a book written by Ms. Nasser and not feel a sense of dread that I may not finish it due to border with the characters or storyline. I have yet to be disappointed in her work. Needless to say, she did it again. Another book that I'm more than ecstatic that I purchased. Characters are always on point. Storyline always have you anticipating the next page and praying for a sequel. Ian and Robyn's story did just that. That slap was so in-depth that I felt it. I was like Craig and Skokie....daaaaaammmmmnnnnnn...lol
This book caught me by surprise. First, let me admit that I forgot that it was a novella. I was so enthralled by this story that I didn't want it to end. It was beautifully executed. I didn't feel cheated as Ms Vasser did an excellent job of wrapping the story up. The author pulls you in by creating well developed characters that you immediately like and care about. Loved the mystery she created in the first few chapters and the quick look back to understand where things "went wrong". Max/Ian and Robyn have joined my list of favorite couples. And Ms. Vasser continues to be an immediate purchase for me!
I enjoyed the career-driven, stubborn Robyn and ruthless, stubborn Maxwell even though I didn't quite understand his motives for hurting Robyn was the same hurt she did to him nine years ago. Maxwell was definitely misconstrued. On the other hand, Robyn could have done a lot of things differently before ending their relationship. I did enjoy Eva involvement to see that her friends needed to resolve their issues in order to move forward. In the end, they gotten what they wanted from each other.
Yes Ms. LA Shawn has done it again heart warming this story reflected a lot about me to lose the love of your other half not being dead no so yes it touch me on a deep level so loved every line in this story Okay Next Book 💞☺☺☺😊
I love rekindled love stories!!! And using Love Jones in this was spot on! Who could resist Darius...or Ian Maxwell, for that matter? Romantic quick interlude 😊
I enjoyed this novella. Chapter 2 had me re-reading chapter 1 . I fell for the characters I wanted more I know it was a novella but I wasn't ready for it too end
I always lay in wait for this Author anticipated release. This book was okay as a second chance romance. I just felt like there needed to be something more that made it stand out for me. Getting over the one is always a hard road. The saying if you love someone you set them free and if it was meant to be they will come back. Ian did the right thing he knew that he had to let go because he loved her enough. They both had growing up to do.The one statement she made to hurt him to the point of revenge or work her out of his system I didn't get. So until next time #supportyoualways.
Although LaShawn could write the phonebook and I'd consider it a hit, "The Room" follows suit. The relationship between Ian and Robyn starts out while they are in high school and continues through their adulthood. While there is strife and growth along the way , the both learn and grow and know what they want, each other! I really how Ms. Vasser captivates the reader and draws them in , entertains them and keeps them guessing! I can not wait till her next book! Well done LaShawn!!!!!
Too drama free for nine years of heartbreak! HEA was too easy!
LaShawn Vasser is one of my favorites. I enjoyed the story and I love how the story was laid out and developed. It definitely deserved more than three stars. I couldn’t give it three and a half stars because it just didn’t have enough spice and sizzle for four or five stars, but three was my only option! This story has so much potential even if it is a novella, but I think it fell flat!
From the beginning the story was a mystery. How we discover the true relationship of Ian Maxwell Bryant and Robyn Levy was ingenious! But after that it lost that spice. Maxwell has a stalker that disappears like a vapor, never to be seen or heard from again. Then there’s his on again, off again girlfriend that never even makes an appearance except as a muffled voice on a phone call. Robyn has a very public breakup with a famous celebrity but the only fallout we see is her tucking tail and running back to her hometown. Nothing that they’ve gone through in the past nine years since Robyn left Maxwell behind to chase her dreams seems to put obstacles in their reconciliation.
Of course there was history between them and there were things left unsaid. Maxwell brought the revenge and closure but where was the other drama to go along with it? With a love as strong as theirs, especially after nine years, there should’ve been more obstacles to overcome to get to the HEA!
The Room by LaShawn Vasser is an interracial romance story about second chances. Robyn returns home after leaving for nine years and she unexpectedly runs into her past. As this story evolves, we go from the present to the past and back to the present. As Robyn dreams of a future with her past she is unexpectantly hit with what everything means. Ian Maxwell Bryant, the boy she left behind is now a successful lawyer. Things don't exactly turn out has Ian had planned.
Will these two find there way back to each other or was all love lost in The Room.
WhAt a good read this author does not disappoint, her books are always on point. When you start to read one of her books you just can't stop until the last page. I am a LaShawn Vasser book junkie.
Vasser has done it again! And this time their is a plot twist! I won't say because I don't want to ruin it for anyone! This is the second book I've read by her, the first being Cree. I just bought another book by her- even before I read the other books in my stack!
Sometimes the hurt we cause each other can heal us when we open up a talk about it. It took Maxwell and Robyn many times to open up fully to their hurt , to their surprise it was just what was needed.
