Fate's intentions are never clear...

After months of swapping bodies with Mitsuha, Taki remains suddenly fixed in his own. Unable to shake the lingering impressions of a remote town he's never been to and a girl he's never seen, Taki sets off to find Mitsuha's village in the mountains. With only a few landscapes sketches drawn from memory to guide his search, Taki's goal seems impossible. However, his journey leads him to a reality more impossible than anything he could have imagined...

This volume was okay, you can definitely tell this is the middle, slower part of the story. I don’t know if they really needed to separate this story into 3 separate volumes. And some of the back and forth in scenes was a little confusing to follow for me at times. But I adore these two so much 🥹

Volume 2 of the three part manga adaptation of Makoto Shinkai's Your Name can be aptly described as Taki's arc. This is where the male lead takes an active part in the narrative. A tragic twist is presented before him and he does something he wouldn't have done if he and Mitsuha didn't switch bodies on a particular day.

If you loved the movie, you will love this manga adaptation. It makes for an overall better experience when read after you've seen it.

These bilingual books are the best way to enjoy this adaptation in the English language. The Japanese love their books and produce volumes with excellent production values. This three-volume set by Kadokawa made for the best souvenirs for a book lover from pre-Covid Tokyo.

Wow, this story just got even more interesting. I literally knew nothing about this manga, so for me it was quite a shock to discover that I totally didn't see it coming and now I'm so curious to see how everything is going to be dealt with in the third and final volume of this manga.

I'm finally continuing with this story! There was a pretty major revelation revealed in this volume , so I'm so glad that I ordered volume 3 before I started reading and it was shipped to me on time to continue reading! I also really want to watch this movie ASAP! So the quicker I read these, the better!

Nothing radically different stylistically from the first volume, but I liked this one better because this part of the story is so intriguing. This middle volume includes the grandmother's explanation of time and the braided cords. It also has Taki's flashback in the shrine to Mitsuha's past. The pace moves much faster than in the first book--in fact, faster than I remember it feeling in the movie, though that may be because I now know what's coming up in the conclusion.

Looking forward to moving on to volume 3! And even though it's probably an insult to everything that manga stands for--I'd love to see these books in vivid color.

Takže velká spokojenost a 4,5/5*

To put it simple: there are no words in my vocabulary to express how much I loved this volume! This had everything in store an entertaining and catching story needs! I’m still so blown away and 20th March truly cannot come soon enough! I’ve already pre-ordered the 3rd volume.

I’ll get a tiny bit deeper into the plot. After volume 1 ended with such a surprise, more like a shock that Taki and Mitsuha didn’t switch another time, I actually expected to go this story like this: Both of them trying to find the other, seeking contact but somehow they never succeed and only in the very end after many many years of development, happenings, choices and changes they coincidentally bump into each other. (Again, I need to underline, I haven’t watched the anime and I don’t plan to do until the manga adaption got to an end.) Therefore, the actual happenings in this volume really shocked me! I felt moved by Taki and Mitsuha realizing they’ve developed feelings for each other and I totally was into this relationship and wanted them to love each other so much. This is why I was overly happy when Taki felt the urge to search for Mitsuha, I was all in for a love story! Those two friends who accompanied him were a funny addition but I wouldn’t have been sad or disappointed, if he’d gone alone. However, it took him some time to determine Mitsuha’s location and when he finally found it — there was the first shock! I didn’t expect it, didn’t see it coming in any way! Maybe this is why it took me like that! Woah. Suddenly the love story I’d thought to get had turned into something impossibly touching. After some further gathering of information, the worst case was verified. I must say, after the first shock I had already braced myself for a second one that might come, so I didn’t catch me thaaaat off guard. Nonetheless, I felt so sad and sort of empty inside and everything felt too late, unchangeable. Seriously, it’s such a hurtful emotion not to be capable of change, to be too late. I can only imagine how Taki felt and his up-coming ”quest” and the scenes that followed only intensified my feelings. Thinking and writing about it right now brings back those feelings again.

I loved the way the plot took after those shocks and how...hope was returned. Now I’m all pumped up for their ”mission” and here I must say, I truly admire how motivatedly Tesshi and Sayaka (Mitsuha’s best friends) willed in to help, despite all doubts they might harbor. This is true friendship! I honestly hope they are going to succeed, from the depths of my heart!

🇬🇧 A second volume breathtaking, with a story that is emerging and characters who are endearing. I can not wait to read the third and last volume!

Only two volumes in and my heart is already in a fragile state of the reveal of what has come to be of Mitsuha and the turmoil that Taki is left in. The characters have more depth to them than I would think could have been given to them in the short amount of time since their introduction. There is an emotional complexity that underlies Your Name which is quite magical and tragic at the same time. While the qualm I had with the first volume still stands, the story is heading in a direction I'm excited for.
