Grounded Spirituality for the Real WorldSonia and Sabrina are sisters and best friends. Trained by their mom, a world-renowned spirituality teacher and visionary guide, they know how to move through life with trust and confidence using their intuition and their intellect. They also have super regular problems, like What the heck is bad vibing me right now?, or Where does my soul want to lead me next? They love chic restaurants and Beyoncé. They talk astrology and psychology. They listen to what their Spirits love and they build their lives around what they love, instead of trying to shove their Spirits into their lives. In this book, they share with you their successes and failures. They teach you how to become your own best friend, trust your vibes and your heart, quiet that jerk that lives in your head, and move through life with confidence, trust, and creativity, even if you ’re not totally sure where you ’re going. Deep and real, yet silly and fun, Sonia and Sabrina invite you to become part of their tribe so you can create the life you want!
This book included a lot of modern day issues: phone addiction and dependency, end of the world news bombardment, the current economy, graduating and not being able to find the job you want, etc. As someone who has enjoyed the self-help genre since the 80s, this offers a lot of fresh and again TIMELY information that people of today can access and relate too. It could be said that this is written for the younger generation, since it has a lot of completely unnecessary swearing. "Your heart is not an a-hole." Really? What does that even mean? But thankfully, the nonsensical swearing is surrounded by gems, and I mean that truly. The authors, Sonia and Sabrina Choquette-Tully know their stuff and live their lives by exploring their feelings, but not being ruled by them, by supporting others, but not being drained by them, etc. and they explain how others can too. Even though I've read many self-help-ish books, I still took a lot from this one. It's not narcissistic to love yourself and to care for yourself, in fact, it's mandatory to have a fulfilling life. They give a lot of examples from their friends, there are bullet points, and many catchy titles to keep you interested and coming back to read again and again. I've enjoyed sharing with my teenager and I'll read more of their books.
This book is written by the daughters of Sonia Choquette, popular self-help guru. These girls really know their stuff! In this book, they tell their readers that following your own intuition and instincts will give you the happiest life for you. They give pointers on how to do this, giving a bulleted list of things the reader can do at the end of each chapter. The authors even give stories of examples from their own lives that serve to clarify. This is very easy reading and sound advice. This book is geared to the younger generation, but the advice is appropriate for everyone. Consequently, the language, too, is geared toward the young. Some may not like some of the language they use.
I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased review.
This book was written for the 20 something crowd and how I wish I could have of read this and put into practice these principles and guides at that age. But even though I am almost 60, I can still use them to begin changing the negative to the positive, to lead a full and productive life. It is a book on how to reconnect to self and heart with a no-holds bar attitude. By connecting, we learn to be compassionate, loving people we were created to be. This one book I would love to by and give to friends and family to read, so that they to could become their true self, their amazing self I see they could be.
I had been in a spiritual block these last few months and needed a real pick me up vibe book to lift my spirits and this book was perfect!
It helped me connect with myself and make me realise I sometimes need to stop and just be in the moment and connect with my intuition about what I truly need and to stop over analysing everything and start being nicer to myself 😊
This is also a good book just for anyone in a mental health struggle which I also suffer from, we need to build eachother up instead of tearing eachother down.
I enjoyed this book by Sonia + Sabrina Choquette-Tully- they have a fresh, insightful look on managing your energy and getting, and being who you want to be. I found their stories relatable to my 20-something self at times, and would recommend this for a young adult wanting a crash course in honing personal power through uplifting spiritual beliefs and practices.
good book from the daughters of Sonia Choquette.. i would have liked more personal experiences.. i didn't really learn anything new, but more like confirmation that i am doing the same or similar practices already..
There were points where this book got a little repetitive. Use of slang terms and phrases like "struggle bus" were a little odd, maybe because I am not used to seeing them in books, but maybe also because they were explained and prepped with "We have a saying..." To me it did not need to be explained. Quoting people like RuPaul was also a little odd, again, because I am not used to so much pop culture in a self help book (which I know is a strategy to reach the millennial demographic). Ultimately good information and I enjoyed most of their writing style.
