The King and Queen of New York
“Heavy is the head that wears the crown” Three words fit Dr. Freedom Anderson perfectly, resilient, determined and challenging. Freedom didn’t have it all growing up, but one would never know, simply off of how she carried herself. Educated, witty and quite charming, Freedom was a force to be reckoned with and made sure everyone in the room was aware of her presence. She was truly a Queen, a rare gem in a drawer full of rhinestones. Chief saw her before she saw herself. Years ago, they crossed paths but it wasn’t until time had passed did they make a connection. Freedom isn’t concerned with Chief or anything that has to do with him, and honestly, Chief feels the same way. Besides, he’s the King of New York there isn’t a need for him to chase any woman, not even the stallion whose doorstep he finds himself on every other night. Freedom is looking for one thing and one thing only, and that’s a good time. Whereas, Chief is nearing his forties and is on the search for his Queen. Children aren’t a must but a wife is in his eyes, Freedom doesn’t want either of the two. After much convincing, she gives him a chance and doesn’t regret it all. Surprisingly, the assassin turned drug lord is the perfect gentlemen. Almost too perfect and convincing, instead of allowing Chief to do him and love her, she digs up old skeletons and uncovers a few filthy truths. After Chief asked her to just trust him and she still goes behind his back….he’s done. Chief knows that Freedom isn’t the only woman in New York but every woman isn’t her. However, he refuses to marry a woman who doesn’t know her place. In the new riveting series from author, Nako, The King and Queen of New York, witness love be created with the turning of every page.

okay, i enjoyed this one
I love the way Chief and Freedom met, it was very unique. Chief was such a menace but more in the way of demanding loyalty, and those who did not honor his wishes were dealt with immediately. Now Chief was definitely intrigued right away, even though he tried to act unbothered lol. Freedom was exhausting! I admired her strength but my girl couldn’t make up her mind about her relationship to save her life. I’m on to book two.

Fire!!!
Freedom and Chief both seem to be broken and trying to learn how to love. I love how they come from totally different places in life but still find peace within each other. The relationship that Nako shows in this book allows us to see the vulnerability of both Freedom and Chief and how they might not see the end results the same way they love each other enough to try, even when one seems to be at the end of their patience. I think in London and Freedom we see that sometimes in a relationship you have to push way beyond your comfort zone to allow the other person to see your true self and realize that its OK because they've been doing the same for you all along. Great read. Nako never disappoints. Can't wait for part 2. Their friends ain't loyal.

The novel wasn't your average urban, it was strictly about Freedom and a little about London. Freedom was a feminist, hardworking, and had made something out of herself, and for that, it was outstanding. She wasn't where she came from, she beat the odds, and that was the motivation and drive to give her the strength to keep moving forth. Freedom was strong-willed, professional, and had accomplishments, that would make anyone blush. However, Freedom was cold, anti-socal, and she questioned everything. She didn't trust easily, she was very uptight, and people often wondered if she even liked men. No man really impressed her, or held her attention, until she met London.
London had all the money in the world. He was family-oriented, ready to get married, and have children. He was tired of meeting women, that didn't have anything to offer, but beauty, and sex. There were something about Freedom that held his attention, and he was intrigued by her. When Freedom spoke, he always learned something new, and he admired the woman that she was. He loved that she wasn't with him for what she could get, because she had her own. However, Freedom wasn't as submissive as he would have liked. There were times he wanted to express himself, but he knew that she over analyzed everything, and there wasn't anything simple about Freedom. He loved her confidence, but she had barriers around her heart. He just wanted her, but every single time he felt that he made progress, Freedom would once again be guarded.
The problem with London, was if he wasn't around his loved ones, he became Chief. Chief was a killer, that didn't have sympathy for anyone. If you came to Chief, for the right price, he would hit his target, with no questions asked. Chief wasn't flashy, and he stayed under the radar. The problem was the times that he was away, Freedom thought it was her, but in fact, it was the line of work that he was in, he was a hitman. I can't begin to think about how Freedom will react when she finds out that the man that she loves, is living a double life. I gave the novel 4 stars, because I felt that instead of focusing on all of Freedom's accomplishments, I wanted to know more about Chief, his family, and the relationship between Freedom and Chief. The novel was a bit redundant, and I was so tired of Freedom and her meetings, her books, and etc. It still was a good novel, and I pray that part 2 is more than just about Freedom, and her work.

This is actually my first time reading a book by author (Nako). I loved it and looking forward to reading part 2. The author's attention to detail was amazing. As a reader, I felt as if I really knew these characters. The cover was okay, editing could have been better. Good story, looking forward to reading more of your work.

Great Read!
I have enjoyed reading all of the books written by this author. There is always a deeper message in her stories. This is a great read. Of course, I knew who ole girl's killer was off the bat. Amisa is too foul and Jorian was a F-boy for real. Grab this book and any of the other titles from this author.

I’ll be reading more Nako
This story was a good time!! It was absolutely all over the place and the FMC drained my nerves, but I was in the mood and it didn’t disappoint! I’d recommend this to anyone just looking for a good time and some back and forth mess. I will be reading part 2 because I need to know what happens. I just hope Freedom is a better person?

I love me an alpha man. Chief is that man. Freedom has worked my last nerve. I understand that she has issues, but damn!! I'll be so glad when she get it together and see the man she has in Chief.

I love these kind of books that keep you wanting more of the action. I hope freedom don't leave him because of what he's being arrested for it would be a shame on her. I hope that she gets thru her ordeal with Carol and her family. Bout to read the follow up

I can relate
There's a big part of me that is so much like Freedom Anderson, even the weird and unhealthy parts. I am enthralled in this book, just like all of Nako's books. On to Part 2!

The book is very good and well written.
My problem was that it is quite slow in many places. In other words too many times when the the issue was burdensome with too much details.

Meh
Not my favorite by this author. I found it difficult to connect to the characters. To me Chief had too many inconsistencies in his personality. I didn't understand him at all

The King and Queen of New York
This is Freedom and Chief's story. Freedom is a professor at a prestigious college in . London (Chief) owns a few businesses and dabbles in an illegal trade. He is an assassin-for-hire. Together walls get broken down as they learn to navigate their relationship, 💘, and work life.

I adore Nako's books but....
This book just didn't do it for me as bad as I hate to say it. I have never left Nako anything less than 5 stars..ever! I have to be honest, this book was so boring. I read the entire book waiting and anticipating some action and sadly it never came. The book was just blah. I would recommend the book for someone looking for a good slow read but, if your looking for some action you will be disappointed. I would say the book was promoting growth and not excitement but the characters did not grow much. Sure, they both made some small changes by opening up more to each other but that's it. Also, there was a lot of unanswered questions which was also another reason why I couldn't give a higher rating. There were too many situations just left hanging which is something else that is uncharacteristic of this author. I will read part 2 just for the closure and I can only pray it gets more interesting. Also there were several typos throughout which at this level are uncalled for.

Impeccable
This is one of my all time favorites by Nako it was thorough, well paced and all around a good read I enjoyed learning about the main characters and I really am waiting with baited breath for the sequel. I need to know what is going to happen with Freedom's career, who's behind the Fed's coming for Chief? ( Jorian I suspect.) You will not be disappointed if you read this, then again this author rarely disappoints. There is only one book they've written that I haven't read, ( I think the title doesn't appeal to me I don't know.) Anyway read this now!!!

Omg I love this book. Chief is my guy for real, I love me some him. I love him and Freedom relationship, it's like they balance each other out so well. Even though I thought Freedom was an ok person, I don't agree with her at all for tell that girl to get an abortion, she had no right and that was so wrong of her. So whatever happens with her career that she loves so much then she deserves it. I hope Chief don't be put in jail for a long time because the book will not be same without him. I can't wait to read book 2.

You did AGAIN!!! Very different approach, but I loved it! Freedom and Chief, you really took us into their characters and why they are who they are. Chief is going way out of his comfort zone to grasp Freedom. But he wants to because he wants a different life. Freedom has built such a wall around herself, Chief is helping her to open up and be who she really is. I can't wait to see how it all plays out. Keep doing what you do, Nako! Amazing job!

It was just okay.
This book was a decent read but not one of my favorites from the author. It's like this was just an intro... Like a chance for us to gain some insight on who the characters are... I read for a long time with no real fireworks... Right up until the end... Then BOOM!! I'm ready to read the next installment just to find out what happens wit Chief's situation and the lawsuit against Free... I hope the next installment is a bit more exciting.

Different
This was a different kind of story. Both Chief and Freedom have secrets that keep them from staying together. Freedom needs to let her past go and stop making poor decisions. I can't wait to see what kind of issues led Chief to get into the life because he came from a good home. They're both complicated characters but I could see them together. I am looking forward to reading the next part. It ended leaving me wantng to know what's going to happen next.

Never judge a book by its cover. This was a totally refreshing and different read. Nako never disappoint her reader. She has a very creative mind, very smart writer. This book was a surprise, I was in awe reading about the life of Freedom and Chief. I would recommend this book to all. I can't wait to see how they get out of the troubles that threaten to tear their lives apart. I can't wait for the next book.

Another fantastic read!!
Nako did it again. The story of Chief and Freedom was incredible. The story line drew me in from the very beginning. I can relate to Freedoms struggle to be independent and her struggle to get there are. I can also relate to her fear or completely giving her heart to someone of Chiefs history.
I can't wait to see what lies ahead for the two of them.
