Penny’s new boss is her baby’s daddy, but neither of them knows that...

Blake

Wealth, charm, and a good time. That’s all I can offer a woman, and that’s how I like it.

Until her. The pale beauty from the masquerade ball captured my attention in a way no other woman has. Her charm, wit, grace… for once in my life, I want to offer someone more, but I can’t. After one amazing night, she vanished, leaving me without a name, a number, or even a glass slipper.

A year and a half later, she still dominates my thoughts. I’ve lost interest in one night stands. I don’t even look at other women. Not until I meet my new personal assistant. Penny is a young single mother, and there’s something familiar about her...

Penny
Every night since the ball, I’ve fallen asleep thinking of him. The gorgeous, kind, funny man I shared the most amazing night of my life with. I told him things I’d never told anyone. I felt things I hadn’t felt in years.

When the clock struck midnight, we got separated. I left without his name or number, but he left something for me. Nine months later, my daughter was born. I love her with all my heart, and I wish more than anything I could find her father.

But now that I’m back at work, the gorgeous billionaire CEO keeps me busy. His hot-as-sin looks and his wicked grin tempt me to let him become more than my boss. I know that’s not a good idea, but somehow it feels like I’ve known Blake for a long time instead of just a few short weeks...

***Tempting is a full-length romance novel with steamy scenes, no cheating, and a very happy ending.***

I really wanted to like this more. ...

While I liked the Cinderella premise, this book just didn't hit it out of the park for me for a couple reason-

-it took nearly the entire book for them to figure out they were the person that the other was longing for and when she did figure it out.....
-the wicked stepsister made her think she had something going with the hero, sending her running. I hated that the stepsister was so involved with the hero (he was looking out for her so she took advantage of his generosity and wanted him for herself )

Also, while it never said that he was with other women sexually after their night together, it did say that he barely dated. She however, did not because of the whole being pregnant scenerio. The blurb made me think he had been pining for her and wasn't with other women. He did search, coming up empty handed but he obviously got over it enough to date others. I know they weren't in a relationship, and he thought he'd never find her again, but the story is based on a fairy tale and in my mind he should not have went out with others.....

I liked Blake and Penny. I was rooting for them to figure it out, but it just took too long. And while the epilogue was cute, I need a look down the road into their future.

Super cute!

Story: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐(4.5)
Trope: fairytale retelling, secret baby
Angst: 😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥

Another super cute Cinderella retelling! This version is definitely one I haven't seen before, complete with a secret baby. I enjoyed the fact she didn't intentionally keep the baby a secret. I also loved the fact that the hero is super jealous/possessive without being an alphahole. This whole series has been addictive and I can't wait to dive into the next one!!

Great story, but all loose ends should have been tied up. Readers shouldn't have to subscribe to the author's mailing list to find out what happened to the conniving stepsister. That should be in the book's resolution.

If I have to read about Michelle's trifling behavior, I want to see her get her just desserts. I was disappointed to read the author left this scene out of the story because she wanted the book to end with romance, not revenge. It doesn't have to be revenge. It's called justice and the reader deserves closure.

After reading Charming by Sophie Brooks I decided that was in my top 5 favorite books. Now after reading Tempting, I need to get replace another in my top 5 for this one. You have a masked ball with Zorro and not-Sarah meeting and immediately finding that special connection but of course circumstances and an evil stepsister get in the way. Fast forward 15 months and you have Penny & baby Zoe meeting her boss Blake. Sparks fly but each has a mystery love they've been desperately searching for. Will they find each other? You'll have to check it out. Honestly, you won't be disappointed.
I received an ARC for my honest review.

More on the sweet side than I originally thought - this was a fun read. Billionaire romance, a masquerade and an accidental pregnancy but not a lot of angst and no alpha-asshole in sight. I guess it’s also sort of a Cinderella romance per KU.

I enjoyed my time with it but the book got a bit overlong in the latter half.
Plus they meet in the office without know who the other is and jump into dating so fast that it was almost insta-love.

The wobbles aside I had fun with it and liked the book. May check other out from the author.

Five Awesome Blake & Penny Stars

Another modern Cinderella story! Yay! I don’t know how I managed to read two books with the same theme in a row but I did. However, they were so different, so it was such a pleasure to read them both.

This book! I think I started to cry somewhere around the middle of the book and didn’t stop until the very end. It had such an emotional impact on me. I’m not sure if anybody else would be crying their eyes out during the second part of the book. It’s not like something tragic happened the entire time. There were many good things and a few misunderstandings mixed up here and there. I don’t know why exactly I was crying. Maybe because this book besides being a modern Cinderella story has a lot of suspense and angst there, at least for me. During most of the book I was sitting on the edge of my seat trying to figure out if main characters would ever find out that they had already met, and that they had a daughter together, and it was a bit nerve-wrecking for me to follow their journey. I was just so invested in this book.

Both main characters, Blake and Penny, were wonderful. I really liked Penny’s devotion to their baby, and I was so impressed about some of the things Blake did in the second part of the book. I actually don’t think I remember reading about another such a considerate hero. He literally blew my mind. That’s why I was so rooting for them to find each other. It’s amazing that after a year and a half since the charity ball, they were both looking for each other and really trying to find one another, despite all the roadblocks.

The side characters were also wonderful. Well, most of the characters except for Penny’s evil stepsister Michelle. I think what she did to Penny and Blake was beyond just mean. It was evil, cruel, and unforgivable. I actually wish they could sue her and put her in prison for this for many years. A person like her should be isolated from society. I just don’t think there is a law that could allow to sue for her actions. But if I could, I would. I don’t want to spoil anything, I really want you to discover the story for yourself. Let me just say, I thoroughly enjoyed the second part of the epilogue especially because I couldn’t figure out what was going on almost till the very last page. But when I did, I was not disappointed.

Also, I regret that we do not live in the Middle Ages. Otherwise, I would really enjoy burning the evil stepsister like a witch on a bonfire. 🔥

Highly recommend.

This is a very sweet and funny read. Penny works for a catering company and is working a party for some really rich people. When someone comes to her boss looking for someone to help immediately, her boss picks Penny to help. When they are moving down the hallway, Penny realizes that the person who needs help is her step-sister Michelle who she doesn't like very much. She dresses into a costume for this party and is told by Michelle to say her name is "Sarah" if anyone asks because that is the name of the girl who can't come to the party. Blake is a billionaire who likes woman, money and to travel. He ends up at this party with 3 of his buddies dressed as the 4 horseman but looks like Zorro for those who don't know who the horsemen are. When Penny and Blake meet, the chemistry and pull they have is undeniable and they spend a lot of time together. When one thing leads to another, they end up sleeping together during the party. When the clock strikes midnight, they are both supposed to be in the ballroom for the costume contest and Penny runs there and gets to the stage last minute but not before Blake tells her to meet him afterward. Needless to say, Michelle is up to her tricks and makes sure Penny is not able to meet with Blake after. Since both of them don't know each other's real names when they go looking for one another after the ball they have no luck. With an unplanned pregnancy in Penny's future, will she be able to be a single parent since she can't find Zorro? What will happen if they meet again? Will they know who they are the minute they run into each other? I am not that reviewer to give it all away, pick up the book and read for yourself. It's a quick, fun and sweet read that will have you pulling for Penny. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book.

Review Rating: 5.0 out of 5 stars Perfectly satisfying & modernized version of Cinderella!

I received an Advance Reader Copy for Tempting written by Sophie Brooks and voluntarily reviewed this book. Penny was slowing getting back on her feet after a divorce, trying to finish college, and making ends meet by working as a server for a catering company. It was during a catered charity ball that Penny was tasked by someone she recognized as her stepsister, who needed someone to fill in for a costumed role. While biding her time before she had to do her duty, she meets a gentleman who saves her from a man who would have otherwise talked her ear off on the dance floor, and she was instantly drawn into a tryst by this masked "Zorro." When Blake and Penny part after the party due to unforeseen circumstances, they remain unable to find each other, until many months later, when Blake bursts in on her while she is in the middle of a semi-intimate moment. However, they don't recognize each other, meeting now as employee and CEO. Both pining for the partner from the ball, they nevertheless slowly and reluctantly fall into a relationship, but it is not without its share of self-doubts and wishes for a different outcome.

Twists and miscommunication make this a great storyline and a pleasure to read. Great chemistry between Blake and Penny. Penny brings love, hope, and forgiveness into Blake's life, and Blake, in return, freely gives her the love she should have found the first time around, but, fortunately didn't with her first husband, as well as the sense of belonging with her past and her future. Wonderful modern romance that tugs at the heartstrings and satisfies all the requirements that a fairy tale should deliver, from beginning to end!

Best Cinderella Story Ever

I am voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book, Tempting: A Cinderella Billionaire Story by Sophie Brooks.

One of the best books I've ever read. I loved every minute of it. Couldn't put it down to save my life.
So romantic with the perfect amount of angst and an evil stepsister that you just want to slap into next week. Definitely one I will fondly remember for a very long time.

Penny and Blake met at a masked ball when filling in for other people that couldn't be there. When they met there was an instant attraction and they ended up sneaking off and having sex together but neither one revealed their true identity to the other. Thanks to Penny's conniving stepsister, they never got the chance to. From that night on, neither one could stop thinking about the other. They both went so far as to hire PIs to try and find them, without success. Penny was especially desperate to find Blake because that night at the ball she became pregnant with his daughter. When Penny's daughter, Zoe was about 6 months old, Penny got a job, working for Blake's company, not knowing he was Zoe's father. When they met at work the attraction was still there but they did not recognize each other from the ball. As they spent time together and got to know each other, the attraction and feelings grew but Penny cannot stop thinking about the man from the masked ball, Zoe's father.
What does it take for them to learn the truth and each other's "secret identities"? Will Blake turn his back on Penny and Zoe when he learns he is a father? What kind of games does Penny's stepsister, Michelle play to keep Penny and Blake apart?

Penny is having a rough life. Her mother died young and her dad remarried and spent most of his time and money on his new wife and stepdaughter. Then he died suddenly leaving Penny poor. Penny had married her high school sweetheart but he divorced her after her father's death less than a year into her marriage. Now she is working as a server at a rich costume ball. Then her boss lends her to their employer of the evening to fill in a hole in their costumed theme. She is to be a mouse. By a weird set of coincidents, her employer is her step-sister.
Blake wasn't supposed to be at the ball due to business but his friends dragged him to be one of their four horsemen. Blake is stuck being Famine. When he comes across a gorgeous mouse, he refuses to tell her he is famine and she guesses he is Zorro. Together they have a hot encounter at the ball and plan to met later. Penny's stepsister ruins their plans and they are seperated with no idea of who the other person truly was.
As they months go by both Penny and Blake try to find each other but with no luck. Penny discovers that the night at the ball made her pregnant and settles down into single parenthood. After she has to return to work after the birth of her daughter Zoey, she gets a job at Blake's business. Blake's first sight of Penny this time was her mistakenly in his office, stripping to breast pump. Blake is instantly drawn to Penny and feels a strong protective feeling.
This is a great twist and a Cinderella tale. I really enjoyed how kind and caring Blake was to Penny. He was willing to do anything to make her life easier.

This definitely was an adult modern day Cinderella story with a twist, and I enjoyed it a lot, it was sweet and humorous, with romance and sex, an adorable baby, and parental issues.

Penelope 'Penny' Jenkins, is Cinderella, a struggling working for a catering company and on the job when we meet her. She's working at a fancy ball and awestruck by the opulence at said ball, but she's working and can't get caught up in the spectacle, when her step sister enters the kitchen and demands to have one of the staff do something for her. Penny is swept away and dressed in a beautiful gown and has to remain in costume until midnight for the competition.

Blake Hollister is a 30 year old billionaire CEO, roped into attending a charity ball by his best friends to be part of their entry into the fancy dress costume, the 4 horsemen.

The two cross paths and spend the evening together winding up with a steamy encounter, they plan to meet after the judging of the costume competition, but Penny gets caught up helping people and they miss each other. They both try to find each other but it's difficult when they didn't even know each other's real names, she's Not-Sarah and he's Zorro.

Their encounter left Penny with a 9 month gift, and after little Zoe is born Penny lands a job at Hollister Enterprises, it's a mind numbing job, but little does she realise it's her Zorro's company... will they work it all out and get to their HEA?

I enjoyed this, I wanted more when it was done. I recommend this for anyone who enjoys a modern day Cinderella story.

Well written interesting book. Great story line and Thanks God not stupid characters!!

Penny work as part of a cathering company that is in charge of the F&B for a charity ball. But this is no ordinary ball, this is a masquerade ball that only the wealthiest people can pay to be there.
Lucky for Penny there is a "vacancy" in one of the groups that are going to be part of the costume contest and she is need it (to be the mouse but dress as a victorian woman with the mask of a mouse), but she has to say she her name is Sarah, the woman that couldn't be there that night.
That night another vacancy for other group is open, so a wealthy good looking man is call to be part of this group. His friends tell him that he can't say who he really is because the can be disqualified.
The two of the met that night, got into a little game that turn in to a night (few hours), of passion. But some because of a petty woman they separate without knowing their real identities. She only knew him as Zorro and he thought she was Sarah.
Penny got pregnant as a result of that night. She tried unsuccesfully to find her Zorro. He also tried.
Things start to look better for Penny, she find work on her dream company. His boss is handsome, charming and very helpfull. They start a "friendship" but she has not forgotten her Zorro... she didn't know she has already found him.

Cute story overall, but something felt missing. Some spark, some character development, something. I don't really know who Blake and Penny were. Having some backstory on Penny's mother wouldn't have gone amiss, or if were shown some interactions between her and her father before he passed would have helped that relationship. Or maybe an explanation on how Blake and Penny's father knew each other in the first place? It's surprising that these two men were so close, yet Blake knew nothing about Penny, his actual daughter. I am a working individual, and familial connections are discussed frequently - I doubt this close relationship would have been any different. There was so much potential for something deeper here. More interactions with outside characters would have helped too, in order to develop these characters as individuals with unique personalities. It just felt a bit ho hum, a bit coincidental, a bit insta-love. None of these are total deal breakers, by any means. Like I previously stated, this was a cute story overall. But I was hoping for something a little more developed.

Tempting is a cute, sweet take on the Cinderella fairy tale. Penny is working at masquerade ball when her stepsister, whom she hasn't seen since her father passed, comes in and demands someone to take the place of a friend. Unfortunately, the costume is a mouse costume, but that doesn't stop her from attracting Blake, dressed as Famine of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. They have a steamy tryst and arrange to see each other after the ball. But, thanks to Penny's rotten, cunning stepsister, Michelle, neither is ever able to identify the other, or find each other again. Penny, especially wants to find Blake because their one night produced a beautiful baby girl, Zoe.

Now a year and a half later, Penny has taken a job at Blake's company, not knowing that her boss is Zoe's father. They are attracted to each other and start to get to know each other, but still, they each have another on their minds, not knowing one another's true identities. Will Michelle once again prevail and keep the two apart? Or will Penny (Not-Sarah) get her happily ever after with Blake (Zorro)?

I like Tempting. It's well written and nicely paced and Penny and Blake are sweet together. And Zoe is adorable!

A great twist on the classic Cinderella story this time with Penny and Blake as the stars. After a steamy time at a masquerade ball they have no idea who the other is. They both search for each other but not knowing each other's real name they have little to go on except the common denominator, the evil stepsister Michelle, who plays them both and tells each of them she has no idea who the other person is. The evil stepsister knew exactly who the other was but lied. We follow a few months at a time after Penny gets pregnant and then when she starts working for Blake. She is still hung up on Zorro (Blake) and he still thinks and yearns for Not-Sarah (Penny). But both of them start to have feelings for each other, the only man or woman for him who has peeked their interest since that night 1 1/2 years ago. When the pieces finally come together and Penny figures it out, Michelle is there and tries to ruin it...read and find out what happens.
A great story that made me laugh at times along with the steamy scenes makes it a great read, I was just hoping to find out what happened to Michelle after they all learn the truth.

What a cute story. A rich man helps his friend out at a masquerade. A catering employee is dragged in to help her step-sister (a very evil one at that) at the same party. They meet, they dance, they get together (to put it politely) in the conservatory and plan to meet again after the masks are removed at midnight - you know the story. After the unmasking, the wicked step-sister gets rid of the heroine because she wants the hero for herself - only 9 months later a baby shows up.She finally gets a job at a great company with a wonderful boss - little do either of them know that they are the ones who they've been looking for all this time.
Sophie Brooks has done a amazing job of keeping this story cute and fun when it could have gotten sleazy. Blake is a genuinely good guy who wasn't in for just hook-up. Penny is a hard working, independent woman, not looking for her baby daddy but actually just looking for the man she fell in love with. The ending was particularly satisfying when all the people get what they deserve.

A fantastic Cinderella style story. So many great things happen to these two during the story that draws you in more and more. I couldn't put it down for a second. Thank you for a great read and I recommend it to everyone. I'm voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book.

Penny had never been close to her step-sister, but ended up doing a favor for her at a charity even she was working...unknowing to the fact that she was about to have her world turned upside down. Blake finds himself filling in for another friend at the charity ball as one of the four horsemen and meets Penny. Only she gave him the name Sarah. After a wild night, they are unable to find one another. Penny and Blake both finally give up and start a relationship...with each other. When Penny finally figures out who Blake is, she's met by her step-sister who crushes her by making up stories about Blake being with her instead of Penny.

This is the first book I have read by this author and wasn't disappointed.
This is the story of billionaire Blake and single Mum Penny. They meet at a costume ball and share a wonderful night of passion, but do not know who each other are......
Penny ends up pregnant and a single Mum as she is unable to track down Blake(what with both of them giving false names). Fate always has a way of coming back round when Penny gets a job at Hollister Holding(were the CEO is none other than Blake) but they have no clue whom each other is. They begin to fall for each other, but both of them still can't get that one night out of their heads! Can they get past it and move on?!? Will they ever figure out who the other one is?!? Have a read and find out. Great book, great storyline and fab characters.
Definitely think I'll have to read a few more books from this author.

I really enjoyed this book. A very sweet story and I pretty much devoured it in one sitting because I just could not wait to get to the part where Penny and Blake found out they were Not Sarah and Zorro. I loved it.

But, (can't help it gotta say this) surely I am not the only one who was groaning at the authors description of Penny's masquerade outfit - corseted, long lace at the end of the sleeves, wide skirts, white face with a mole, and the dead giveaway here A POWDERED WIG- and calling it over and over VICTORIAN????!!!! Come on!

Powdered wigs died out in Georgian times. The end of the 1700's. Victorian time period was latter 1800's. And the times could not be more different. You've got the over the top outfits described here with boobs practically spilling out while Victorians were such buttoned up people that that you hardly had skin showing at all.

I tried not to let it bother me but I can't help it. It did. It SO did!

This book is frustrating, it has a good plot, it was supposed to be good but it sucks, the beginning is nice but then it gets really boring, I really thought some scenes would be emotional like he meeting his daughter for the first time or when they find out the truth (that I hoped was way sooner) but it so emotionless, there is no feelings while reading it, it really disappointed me.

Oh this has to be the best kind of Cinderella story ever. Penny and Blake came from different backgrounds and how they met is soooo romantic. Yes I am a romantic at heart. Their unexpected meeting, you would never guess that they would ever find each other again. Just shared little snippets of their pasts were the true links to happiness. One hot sexy Encounter would leave a lasting impression in their future. Blake is definitely Tempting, how can Penny resist him. He is so caring, thoughtful but misses his "little mouse" he met at a masquerade ball. Penny too misses her "Zorro" . Two people, two lives so links and sadly they didn't know. I kept thinking all the way through at times " oh he's her dad, he has to find out" . A fantastic read and one for all true romantics. Can't wait to find out what's next .

A Review of Tempting: A Cinderella Billionaire Story by Sophie Brooks

A Modern Day Cinderella story - 4.5 stars

Loved the mystery of both main characters pretending to be other people for a contest, so not knowing who each other truly are, at a masked ball. Once Penny lands a job as Blake's PA a year and a half later, he feels like there's something familiar about her, but he can't place it. She feels like she's known him for a long time. Then add in a sweet baby girl to the mix and the anticipation of them learning the truth will keep you on the edge of your seat.

The writing of the characters are well done and the storyline will keep you interested. The only draw back for me comes with the grammatical issues that are my biggest pet peeve. Would definitely recommend it.

Tempting is one of my favorite spins on a classic fairy tale. I love the way Penny and Blake meet and spend their first evening together. Blake is funny, cute, sexy, and an all around good guy. Penny is a normal, beautiful girl trying to make her way in the world on her own and ends up spending a fairy tale evening with a man she believes is out of her league. In comes the evil step-sister and she thwarts their love for way too long. Fate has its own way of bringing Blake and Penny back together and I just love the ending! Blake and Zoe is just so sweet too.
The characters become real to you, the storyline keeps you turning the page, and Penny and Blake's chemistry is true love. I cannot wait for an epilogue to read more about Blake and Penny and how they deal with the evil stepsister!! I highly recommend this book!

Love it!! She did it again. Baby stories are one of my favorite genres and I loved this one. It was a quick read fir me. I couldn't put it down , just had to finish it. When you meet at a masked ball and can't find each other what can you do? Search, search and search. You feel that connection and you just need that other person. Like love at first sight but more love at first feel. Well that's what happens here with Blake and Penny. When baby Zoe comes along we are rooting for how are they going to find each other. That keeps you guessing. I do wish the ending played out a bit more. Who wouldn't though. 😊 I read this book in advance for an honest review. Check out her other books because I can't wait to see what she comes out with next. No cheating, no cliffhanger and a HEA. Enjoy!

**I received this ARC in exchange for an honest voluntary review** This was a sweet story w/ a Cinderella-esque twist. What starts out as a one night stand between "Zorro" & "Not-Sarah" turns into a slow burn between Blake & Penny. Loved the chemistry between the two at the start when they first meet & don't know each other's name & the later development of the relationship between them, even with all of Penny's hesitations. Love how Sophie developed Blake's fears with babies. Made it very realistic to what most men are like when it comes to that general subject of women as mothers & babies. Story pacing is a little slow at times but still maintains attention, good character builds & sweet chemistry. Loved the epilogue! Definitely can't wait for the extended epilogue to see Michelle get taken down a peg. Would recommend :)

How would you like to meet your Prince Charming...only to lose him the same night?
Penny is working for a catering company at a masked charity ball for the rice and famous when she is pulled to take the place of a missing "mouse" and dressed in one of the opulent costumes.
"Zorro," otherwise known as Famine, is drawn to her innocence, beauty, and genuineness and things really heat up!
Circumstances beyond their control lead to them losing each other, and the hunt begins, but It seems to be pointless after time continues without any results.
Is their story complete or will fate step in?
A play on the Cinderella story, but with no "glass slipper!"
Fun story for you to enjoy reading!
You will enjoy the extras too!

I think this is my favourite Cinderella twist romance. Sophie has done a superb job in writing this story, the way she has written her characters in such a way to draw you in and leave you heart broken as they each try to deal with the blows thrown at them. Blake's character is just beautiful in his search and devotion to Not-Sarah. Penny's devotion to finding Zorro, the man who changed her life for the better, forever, was just so sweet, then on the other side of the scale is Sophie's writing of the manipulative and vengeful Michelle, she did an amazing job at making me hate her. The ending was just perfect. I thoroughly enjoyed her last book Charming, but I loved Tempting, and I hope you will too.

liked the beginning

I really enjoyed the beginning of this retelling of Cinderella but it took so so long for Blake and Penny to realize who each other was! Blake and Penny meet at a charity masquerade ball, hook up, but lose each other due to circumstances after the ball. Fast forward almost a year later and Penny starts working for Blake but doesn’t realize her new boss is her “Zorro” that she’s been looking for. Blake doesn’t realize Penny is his “not Sarah.” For almost 70% of the story they were pining for each other but also holding back their true feelings in fears of cheating on the person they met at the masquerade ball. I liked the epilogues at the end since Michelle truly deserved what came to her.
