It just keeps getting better! It's nice to see that the de-troped, inclusive, slice-of-life theme of this series really does apply to everyone who lives in it. Vampire or werewolf, demon or cupid, selkie, warlock, troll, or zombie, you still gotta pay bills and do your taxes. Isabeau's job is wonderful. It cracked me up. I won't be too specific about it because I want you to read it for yourself, but suffice it to say that it's amusing and clever and makes a lot of sense within the setting.
In this volume, we see the protagonists beginning to learn about each other. They go on a date, they're self-conscious, they reassure each other, they're only ever supportive and just nice to each other and it's so great to see. Their relationship feels like it's going to be healthy from the get-go. There are so many instances in which the characters demonstrate healthy self-respect. I love it.
