A newcomer to the Shoalwater Peninsula in Washington, Lark Dodge becomes involved in a dispute between those who want to preserve the area's beaches and those who welcome resort development.
Lark has moved from California to coastal Washington state and is busy remodeling their home when her new neighbor, Bonnie, finds a dead body on the beach. The convoluted plot contains a controversy over beachfront development, local politics, Native Americans, and an unemployed logger who kidnaps Lark and Bonnie. The storyline has a somewhat unclear ending. Contains some descriptions of the beach and surrounding areas.

A quick read mystery from the Lark Dodge mystery series. This is the first book by this author that I've read, and it was a pretty good cozy mystery. The book is set in Washington state on a peninsula where Lark Dodge and her husband just bought a fixer-upper house. Lark is planning on fixing up the house and getting pregnant, but she wasn't planning on a dead corpse on the beach and a bag of dead sea gulls on her neighbors porch. Will look up another in the series when wanting a quick read.
