Author of Misty Point Mystery Series, Midnight Shift, and Rocky Meadow Mystery Series- Sacred Gold, Fatal Breach, The Bench
As a child, I loved to read, whenever and whatever I could get my hands on. I started to write my own "Nancy Drew" type mystery in fifth grade. As a student, I studied Biology in Vermont, Sciences and Literature in college and eventually became a physician. I enjoy writing mysteries that contain medical and light spiritual content. Either way, a good murder mystery is always fun.
Misty Manor - Three years have passed since Hurricane Sandy devastated the New Jersey Shore as Megan Stanford returns to her childhood home to find her elderly grandmother and the family Grand Victorian home in a state of shocking neglect. As the town threatens to sue to ensure demolition of the guest cottages behind Misty Manor, mystery unfolds in the once quiet town of Misty Point, NJ. A dead body found in the debris, threatening messages, and vandalism, combined with an eerie sixty year old photograph, bring the investigation closer to home. Megan continues to dig for the truth and unwittingly begins to unravel a decades old secret, which threatens her and the future of Misty Manor.
My first book, The Bench, is set in the fictional town of Rocky Meadow, VT. The Rocky Meadow Mystery series then continues with Fatal Breach and Sacred Gold, although each book can be read as a stand alone, just like your favorite episodes of a mystery show. Dr. Amy Daniels is a trauma surgeon who moves to Rocky Meadow, VT to escape family tragedy. There she meets, Father Michael Lauretta, the psychologist pastor of St. Francis church and Rocky Meadow Retreat Center. Together, they solve a mystery and search for a killer with the help of Katie, the church cook, Willow, a teenage millionaire, Father Victor, visiting priest from Chicago and Tony Noce, owner of Hasco's Bar and Grill. In Fatal Breach, the characters become involved with cybercrime and a murder at a local soup kitchen. Sacred Gold is about gold treasure buried in the catacombs of the church. There is murder as well as a race to see who finds gold first.
While solving crimes, the main characters deal with life, loss, starting over and developing an appreciation for the friends and loved ones in their lives.
Linda Rawlins lives in New Jersey with her family. When she is not working in medicine, she is writing.
I enjoyed this book. This is the first book by this author that I have read or listened to but it won't be the last. I really liked the characters, who were like able and felt like a tight knit group of friends that cared for each other, the dad was something else. Although he added drama and complications to the story, I was surprised he wasn't the one to get killed. I am glad it turned out the way it did, I do like a happy ending for most of characters. The mystery itself was interesting and kept me hooked until the very end. There was a lot going on and with a number of suspects it flowed along nicely. This is book two but it worked well as a standalone book and it didn't matter that I didn't start with book one but I think I might just have to start from the beginning to find out more about the main characters Grandmother. Megan is struggling to come to terms wIth the death of her grandmother but that is nothing compared to how she feels with the sudden appearance of her father. Especially as he has already lined up a buyer for Misty Manor and that's before the will is read or his mother is even buried. The problem is he and the buyer, along with his entourage, arrive at the door with no warning and expect Megan to accommodate there every whim. Then a body is washed up on the beach and fingers start to point. Is Megan having to live with a killer? With the will reading imminent will Megan have to leave the home she loves? Or will she inherit more than taking care of her grandmother's charities? When will the unwanted house guests leave and will the killer be caught before they do? I liked the narrator and thought she helped make the story come to life by using some great voices. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Misty Point was the second book in my Misty Series. Megan Stanford returns home in Misty Manor after losing her job at the Detroit Virtual News to care for her dying grandmother. Misty Point continues where Misty Manor left off - her deadbeat father returns to cash in on his inheritence until another body is found in the surf. A great quick beachread. Please enjoy!
I am truly enjoying this series and when finished will move on to other he by Linda Rawlins, as she does a great job creating likable and realistic people...well maybe some are more realistic than likable!
Before time runs out can the murderer be halted! When Dean, Megan Stanford’s dad comes back with Mr. Douglas, a real-estate agent, Megan is astonished. Randall’s associate, wife and others show up, and it is evident, Randall’s intention is to sell his mom’s property. A dead person is discovered in the tide. Megan realized there was a deeper conspiracy at hand. This read is suspenseful and filled with twists and turns. Author Linda Rawlins descriptive storytelling made me feel like I was standing in the scene with Megan, feeling her emotions as the murder mystery unraveled. The characters are well thought out and current and there are exceptional word pictures of the Victorian manor. Great job. Bravo!
