A.M. Yates is the author of YA urban fantasy and paranormal romance, including Summoners and The Horizon Cycle. She spends most of her time living in worlds other than this one.
She does not leave reviews on books in her own genres or closely related ones. But if a book appears on her "read" shelf, it means she thought it was good enough to recommend.
This book deserves to be read. I don't understand why there are no other reviews. The story starts with 14 yo Nico, guilt-stricken about causing his older sister to be turned into a vampire. It follows him through to 18 yo. He becomes more and more involved in the complicated relationships among vampires and between vampires and humans. There's loyalty. There's betrayal. The characters are very well drawn. They all seem real and most of them are quite likeable. Most of the story is from Nico's POV but other characters are given a voice too, more so as the story develops. Plenty of surprises along the way and a great ending. Will definitely be checking out more by this author.
This book was so good. I literally read the entire series within a week. UHHHHMMM?! GIRL!!!! YOU ATE THAT SHIT UP!!! OH MY DAYS, THIS BOOK NEEDS WAY MORE RATINGS!!! I formally apologize for ever THINKING. I was good at writing
